Mad Men Episode 5G Video Freezing

Hi, I downloaded the Mad Men episode "5G" over the weekend and have a problem with the video freezing at timecode 06 min 56 sec. The picture freezes but the sounds continues. The video remains frozen even if I jump ahead or back to another spot in the episode. The only way to get the episode to re-sync is to close and restart the episode but of course, the picture freezes at the exact same spot. The strange thing is the video freezes only on my computer; when I play the episode on my iPhone or iPod, the video never freezes. Does anyone else have this problem?

I don't really understand your suggestion I "convert the file again." I downloaded the episode from the iTunes Store; I didn't rip it from a DVD.
The video freezes at the same spot whether I play it through iTunes or with the standalone Quicktime player. I also copied the file to another drive and played it off their second hard drive and it freezes at the same spot. I'm really hoping that someone else who downloaded this episode can verify whether or not their copy freezes at the same spot when played on their computer. As I mentioned in my original post, the video plays fine on my iPhone and iPod, it only freezes when played on my computer. Anyone else who owns this episode care to share?

  • Quality issues with Mad Men & Chuck

Chuck, Season 2 - Ep. 2 Chuck Versus the Seduction (one side of the audio is not playing)
Mad Men, Season 2 - Ep. 12 The Mountain King (over saturated colors)
There's really no way to figure out whether iTunes Store fix the problems or update the files with the proper quality. Since the Mad Men episode is a recent issue, I don't expect it to be fixed soon. But episode 2 of Chuck is like two weeks ago, wonder if the audio issue has been corrected. Anyone?
And last night episodes of Prison Break and Chuck are not available yet. Sigh...

Yes, I know about the "Report a problem" thingy. If you read my post carefully, I'm asking if any fellow buyer has bought and verified the problem has been fixed.
Anyhow, Chuck, Season 2 - Episode 2's audio issue has been fixed. Mad Men? Well, the issue is new. So no one has the answer.

  • Mad Men W/drawal: When can I file against Apple & iTunes? Help me download!

I've been having this same issue since the iTunes 10 release (and I am still on iTunes 9.2.1) — I can purchase new shows, or songs, and they download fine, but I cannot ever download subscriptions (my "Mad Men" episodes every week!). I can't get past the error message "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." when I >Check for available downloads.
I have more than a month of "Mad Men" and other things waiting to download, and this is beyond aggravating. I have a "Community" addiction I need to feed on Friday mornings in exactly this way.
Anyone have any idea what the problem is, or a solution?

I got good results by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. After talking with the tech reps for a bit, I found out two important things:
    1) "Normal" iTunes support isn't equipped to deal with complex problems. But, the phone reps can access an internal chat line with iTunes techs to get problems solved. This lead me to find out that:
    2) The "Welcome to the New Season" faux-episode that came with the season pass is corrupt. Once they delete this and "re-grant" your downloads, everything worked perfectly.

  • Mad Men Ep. 12 - dialogue inaudible

Just downloaded the latest Mad Men episode in HD. Can hear the soundtrack and ambient background sounds fine, but the dialogue is inaudible. Did they screw up the audio mix or is it something on my end. My mother is having exactly the same problem.
    Anyone else having this problem?

I to have the same problem. Strange that only one of the audio tracks is audible--only background noise, music phone ringing etc--no dialog. I copied the file and and opened it up on my computer at work ( I've tried this on both mac and Windows-based pc and have the same problem, confirming that the problem is with the file not the platform.
Looks like a great episode, I hope Apple responds to this asap.
Being on the cutting edge of new technology is precarious and treacherous!

  • Mad Men shows will not play - black screen, no sound

Black screen and no sound when trying to play Mad Men shows. Video podcasts play fine.

Opened the videos with QuickTime. Plays perfectly.

  • Episode 11 of Mad Men season 2 is missing! It's called Jet Set.

I bought season 2 of Mad Men and episode 11 is missing.  It is called 'Jet Set' and is not even listed in the program episodes on iTunes store...what is up with that?  Blockbuster has it so I know the episode was released.  Not happy.

I am having the same problem. The most recent episode "For Immediate Release- May 5, 2013" won't download to my library, is not found in my unwatched list. When I go to the purchases tab, it notifies me that it was "downloaded" but I can not get the video from anywhere to watch.
Apple sent me some sob story email saying they have resolved the issue if I go and delete the episode it will be ready for me to download. I CANNOT GET TO THE FILE TO DELETE.
So much for cutting my cable, as this iTunes alternative is proving to be the biggest pain my my @ss.
How do I get this episode, especially when ever I vist every where in iTunes it tells me it has been downloaded already.

  • ITunes Freezes on Mad Men page

Maybe iTunes is trying to tell me i'm too into this show, but I've been buying each episode all season long, and suddenly when I go to that specific show's page in the store, itunes freezes and crashes.
I can go to every other page in the iTunes store... it's JUST the Mad Men page that makes the program freeze, what the ****?
I'm running the most recent version of iTunes.
    Thanks.

    - See if resetting the iPod will either fix the problem or allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod.
    - Next see if placing the iPOd in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • Mad Men Season 3 Download Error on iPhone 3GS

    Background:
I have an iPhone 3GS running 3.1.2 software. I purchased Mad Men season 3 and it started the download. It downloaded 3 episodes before I was able to sync with itunes and now itunes is downloading the remaining episodes.
    Problem:
The 3 episodes that were downloaded on the iPhone, freeze and play a high pitched squeal approximately 75% of the way into each episode. The elapsed time meter is still moving forward while this happens, so it's not as it stopped playing. It's incredibly frustrating. To further complicate the issue, the episodes that were ultimately downloaded via iTunes, play fine all the way through.
    Solution:
I have no idea... Please help...

The only way that worked for me was deleting the songs in iTunes (both iCloud and Mac while keeping the files). Then updating iTunes Match. Next, drag and drop the album back to iTunes and update Match.
Next, on iPhone, the only way that worked to download them is to actually playback each song in the album NOT "download all" button or even individual download button. If I use the buttons, it downloads part of the song then I get the error message or it stops midway and you can't delete the song from the download queue. Again, the only way that worked for my iPhone was to playback each song without skipping any of them and they easily downloaded on my phone. Hope this helps
PS: The check downloads on iTunes did nothing to me as it never showed the iOS queue items, only my undownloaded purchases from iTunes Store.

  • HT1933 Mad Men download issues 4/21/13

Did anyone else have any issues with the latest episode (4/21/13) of "Mad Men"?  The email iTunes sent didn't have the hyperlink embedded, and I checked for purchases in my account to no avail.  Thoughts?

    Hello noochi01,
I found another "problem" in my first XP installation... some years ago I learned to press F5 during the first WinXP setup screen (where it says "press F6 for storage controller...") in order to manually select "ACPI-PC" as the PC type. Otherwise sometimes the non-ACPI HAL would be installed due to some crappy ACPI BIOSes which results in the "You may now switch off the computer" message instead of power down.
This manual ACPI-PC selection was what I also did when I first setup XP SP3 on the T61p... now I noticed the machine runs on only one of the 2 CPU cores. Cause is that the selection of "ACPI-PC" will install the uniprocessor XP kernel:-/
So I now did another clean setup with selecting "ACPI multiprocessor PC" => multiprocessor kernel is installed and both CPU cores are used. With this setup I don't have problems with either the original UltraNav 13.x driver or the Ricoh SD/MMC host controller driver.
I'm very unsure if the uniprocessor kernel in the first installation caused these driver problems or if I simply installed the drivers in a different sequence this time... but there's no freeze until now.
Can you check if both CPU cores are active on your machine? E.g. the Windows task manager shows two graphs for CPU usage, two frequencies are shown in System Properties etc.?
btw: The 3.57.01 Ricoh drivers from the ASUS website seem to work well for the ThinkPads with that Ricoh 4-in-1-controller: http://dlsvr.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/Cardreader/CardReader_Ricoh_VT_090513.zip
I don't know why Lenovo did never release that driver update?! On the Ricoh page there are no downloads for "industrial products"... and that controller seems already outdated.
    Cheers,
     Wolfgang

  • How long after Mad Men airs is it posted/made available in iTunes Store?

I have the Mad Men season pass and I usually wait until Monday to watch but I'd like to watch tonight (the night it normally airs). How long after Mad Men (or any show for that matter) airs is it made available for download in the iTunes store?
    Thanks
    Tony

Normally it's with 24 hours, but it's up to the network/production house how quickly they make the video file available to the iTunes Store for posting. It's extremely rare for an episode of any TV show to appear in the iTunes Store on the same night as the episode first airs.
Last night's episode, "Summer Man", is available in the iTunes Store as of this morning (Monday).
    Regards.

  • HT4743 I downloaded a Mad Men Season 5 2nd show and it stops after 13:20... How do I get the full show or my money back?

I downloaded a Mad Men Season 5 2nd show and it stops after 13:20... How do I get the full show or my money back?
    This is soooo frustrating!!

No, never had any problems before. I heard another friend had the same problem with that episode. But I don't know what I can do about it.
And yes, tried to restard the episode. Just freezes at that exact spot.

  • Video freeze with Fast User Switching

I can't seem to find anything on this specific topic in the forums, but it's plagued me pretty much since I got the i7 iMac a year ago. The problem is this: when I have more than one account logged in via Fast User Switching, the video will freeze on me. Details:
    * by video I mean not the display as a whole, but any video content that is playing -- YouTube, iChat video, etc.
    * only the video freezes. Audio keeps playing.
    * if I close the other user account, video will resume its normal functioning.
    * if I constantly move the window in which the video is playing, it will keep playing.
    * if I switch away from the window and return, the video will play again for a brief second.
Those last 2 I find especially puzzling, and they lead me to believe that somehow the computer or the video card somehow is "forgetting" that it needs to redraw the video.
I brought this issue up to a very friendly and helpful Apple rep who suggested zapping the PRAM, which did help for a couple of days but even a restart will do the trick for a while.
Anybody else seen this issue? Any solutions?

Same here. Not specific to 10.7.x, had it in 10.5 and 10.6 as well. The problem is made worse when also using Screen Sharing. All video is stalled (audio plays on). Sometimes the video continues when the mouse is moved. The video also continues when the system volume is changed using the keyboard.
And with all video I mean really all video. Even transitions in the login screen pause until I press the volume keys.
Usually there is no problem with one specific user, and the stalls can usually be fixed by logging that user out, as if that user somehow "owns" the video of the Mac.
Very annoying, and I do hope someone has a solution.
Any specific stuff the other me too's here have installed? I've got Flash Player, Click2Flash, Perian, SizzlingKeys, Flip4Mac for instance.

  • IDVD unexpectedly quits and/or video freezes during burn

Please help! I'm going crazy trying to get a completed video project burned onto DVD. I have three video programs (one is a slide show), all created in Final Cut Pro and saved as either Final Cut Quicktimes or Quicktime movies using H264 compressor. The programs are imported into iDVD 4.0.1 (they cumulatively amount to less than one hour). Two different things are happening. Sometimes, iDVD churns for 16 hours, spits out the DVD, and says it unexpectedly quit. The DVD plays, but the slide show program freezes about 3/4 into (audio continues but video freezes). Other times, iDVD churns for hours and hours, only to quit and spit out a blank DVD.
This has never happened in the past. I've never before had trouble burning DVDs. The only change I recently made was this: I changed the name and password of the administrative account user. Also, this computer was iSync'd with another mac and about a week ago, all my preferences disappeared and programs opened as if for the first time (although nothing on the hard drive was lost).
Here's what I've tried: MacSweeper (although it has authenticaltion problems - I authenticate and then everytime I try to run it, it says it's not authenticated, so I can't tell if it's working), MacJanitor, I've checked all the preference settings and nothing comes up in error. I've also tried the Easter Egg approach and I got the same result (freeze 3/4 through).
    Here's what I have: iMac G4, 800 MHz CPU, 1 GB memory, OS X (10.4.2), iDVD 4.0.1.
The slide show program is the only one messing up on the burned discs. Do you think it has anything to do with the new H264 compressor (in the past I've never used that, and the other two programs - which are fine on the DVD - are Final Cut Quicktimes).
Help me please - before I do something violent to this computer!!! Thanks for any advice.
    Shannon

Thanks for your suggestions, David. My remaining issues are these, and anyone with ideas is welcome to chime in here:
First, I've never encountered this problem in the past, even with the same amount of available disc space. It seems like the Tiger upgrade is what's causing the problem, but so far it's been impossible to isolate. Has anyone heard anything about this or found a permanent solution?
On that same note, I understand what you're saying about an external drive. I don't have one, and it seems superfluous that I should need to spend money on one when this process worked fine a year ago. But I guess I'll try it if nothing else works better.
Second, fortunately, I wised up to the Disk Copy solution to make back-up copies of my ONE usable DVD. But I'm extremely concerned that I will encounter this same problem the next time I need to burn from iDVD. I have no idea why this one disc worked and all my other attempts failed. There must be something identifiable going on in all these similar cases, and it doesn't make sense to me that the permanent solution lies in somehow working AROUND iDVD instead of through it. And I guess I won't spend the money to upgrade to iLife '05 if the possibility exists that this problem will persist.
So there are my lingering concerns and frustrations. For now, I'm walking away from this project with exactly ONE useful DVD produced from iDVD out of approximately 20 attempts. Something's wrong with this picture. Ugh!

  • Mad Men Season 4 crashes

Every time I attempt to enter the Mad Men Season 4 page on iTunes, it crashes. This happens on both iTunes 9 and 10. What is up with this...? Very frustrating. Has happening like 10 times in a row, after reboot and all...Everything else works fine. Very odd.

This happened to me last week as well. I went to amazon.com video on demand.
