Mad Men W/drawal: When can I file against Apple & iTunes? Help me download!

I've been having this same issue since the iTunes 10 release (and I am still on iTunes 9.2.1) — I can purchase new shows, or songs, and they download fine, but I cannot ever download subscriptions (my "Mad Men" episodes every week!). I can't get past the error message "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." when I >Check for available downloads.
I have more than a month of "Mad Men" and other things waiting to download, and this is beyond aggravating. I have a "Community" addiction I need to feed on Friday mornings in exactly this way.
Anyone have any idea what the problem is, or a solution?

I got good results by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. After talking with the tech reps for a bit, I found out two important things:
1) "Normal" iTunes support isn't equipped to deal with complex problems. But, the phone reps can access an internal chat line with iTunes techs to get problems solved. This lead me to find out that:
2) The "Welcome to the New Season" faux-episode that came with the season pass is corrupt. Once they delete this and "re-grant" your downloads, everything worked perfectly.

Can the font size in Itunes Help files be increased? The font size is way to small to... 4pt!

Is there a way to increase the font size displayed in the Itunes Help files? The size seems to be < 4pt and very difficult to read. Please advise.

Sometimes this can be altered by going inside the "plist" for the project and making specific changes. It is beyond my scope, but someone on these forums should be talented enough to suss it out.

Can Apple/Itunes help me find backup files?

Are backup files connected to my itunes account? or are they only saved on the computer/laptop that I synced and backed up my ipod with? And is it possible for Apple/Itunes to help me find or get my backup files? I am aware that I am not the only one that makes backups on Itunes and stuff and I know that millions of other people also backup their ipod touches, iphones, etc. I'm not trying to sound like the world revolves around me and that Apple will do everything to help me...but I just want an answer or any other possible solutions. This user tip outlines the method I recommend for backing up your library. Provided your library is all self contained it is possible to hook up a drive containing this kind of backup to any other machine running the same build of iTunes, connect to the library and update your devices.
The iOS device backup is intended to restore an iOS device in the event of a problem, or loss & replacement. It is possible to move these backup file sets from one machne to another, but it's not easy, and not really necessary as long as you migrate your library and then back up the device once on the new computer before doing anything drastic to the old one.

How can I open an Apple App account for downloading free apps? I will not let me open a new account without a sim card.

I just bought a used 1st Generation Apple iPad 64 GB, 3G. How can I open an Apple App account? I am trying to download a free app and it says I have to have an account, however, everytime I try to set up a new account I can fill only fill out some of the information but then the screen goes black and I cannot proceed with the account. At one point it said "no sim card" and I am not sure where one would go if I had one. Do you need a sim card to download free apps? Why won't it let me set up an Apple Account? Any suggestions?

I can think of no reason at all why you need a sim card to creat an Apple ID. Try this first - reboot the iPad and reset the memory.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Afte the iPad starts up again, follow the directions in this support article - exactly - to creat the account without a credit card.

IF ... You are signed into another Apple ID on the iPad you will have to sign out of that ID in order to create a new one. Settings>Store - you can sign out there.
You MUST try to download a free app in order to start the process off correctly. If you were using an email address with another ID that you already created, you will have to have another email address to associate the new ID with.

Can't connect to secure iTunes server to download music

I have had no issues ever with iTunes store. But recently I have been unable to download music or access my account. I can listen to sample tracks in iTunes store however.
I have checked my firewall which is OK.
I ran the diagnostic check within iTunes help and here are a few lines extracted from the report.
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.
I followed the help suggestion and confirm that
SSL 3.0 Support: Enabled
TLS 1.0 Support: Enabled
As you can see all works except secure connection.
Any ideas out there as to the cause

Are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? There have been reports that some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from running. So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes. The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).
Check the settings for your utility and if necessary remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes (consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure). You may also need to check the built-in Windows firewall as well.

I can't get into the itunes store through my itunes because the homepage has the add for updating to itunes 10. I tried to do it, but then realized I don't have the software for it, I need Mac OS 10.5 or higher and I have 10.4. How do I get to the itunes store still, surely I don't have to buy a whole new computer to keep using Itunes? Does anyone know anything about this?

I've got this as well and it seems to have affected only the Music and Home pages - do a search in the search bar and you will get to the films etc. Looks like somone goofed! If anyone from Apple checks this out, mine is the UK store. Home page and Music pages only affected.

I just accidentally wiped out my entire music library. How can I get apple to help me download the purchased songs again? The songs went to my recycle bin and I immediately restored them but the files seem to have dissappered!

DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3 crashes when import m2v files...please help me

All of a sudden, DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3. doesn't like any of my m2v files created by Compressor 2.0.1
these are the same m2v files I imported and burned into DVDs a couple months ago...and any new m2v files I create with Compressor...cause DVD Studio Pro to crash
DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3 will import old m2v files that I created a couple years ago using DVD Studio Pro 2 - and any new audio files created with Compressor and quicktime files from Final Cut Pro 5.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here and they don't monitor these forums.
As to the availablility of films then that is controlled by the film studios, not by Apple.

The maps seem to have got worse since the recent update. The satellite photos are now even more out of date, with some in Cumbria UK being more than 10 years old.
India must present an even greater challenge than Britain!
