Maddening pop-out New Event window

I searched for this topic, but couldn't seem to find it.
Maybe I'm the only one who finds the pop-out window that emerges whenever you create a new event very annoying...
Is there a way to turn this function off? It pops out from the right side, or--if you move the calendar to the right side of the screen to hide this pop-out--to the left.
It drives me nuts, because it hides the window of another program that I refer to while in iCal.
Anyone have a solution for this? Many thanks!

Thanks for the tips; I didn't know you could detach the little bugger.
However, clicking the i-button doesn't seem to be a semi-permanent solution; when I create a new event, the same window pops back up. At least now I can close it, though, instead of shoving it aside.
I wish there were simply a way to turn off the info window...

Hi, where is the new event window in ical??

Hi, what I'm trying to do is to repeat an event every week for the rest of the year in ical, so I read one post which had a picture of the new event window pop up. Where is that new event window??? It doesn't pop up for me.
Here's what I do:
1. I click on File, then New Event.
2. A highlighted portion where I can write in text shows up, but then I don't know where the option to make the reminder a repeated reminder comes up.
I have Mac OS X Version 10.5.8, I believe.
Or...how do I jiust repeat an event without going to this?? I'd just like to repeant an event.

All right, never mind, I found it myself!!! You gotta double-click (press twice on mouse area) on the highlighted portion of the text that shows up on a date.

As an example of this question, each new event window always has "all day event" checked, how do I change this to be automatically unchecked?

Are you using Lion iCal? If so, iCal now uses data detectors for event creation. The "Month" view automatically creates an all day event unless you enter a specific time.
Here are some event creation rules from the iCal Help Center:
Click Add at the top of the iCal window or press Command (⌘)-N.Events are added automatically to your default calendar.
If you want to choose a different calendar for the event, hold down the Add button (+), and then choose a calendar.
To change your default calendar, choose iCal > Preferences, click General, and then select a calendar from the Default Calendar pop-up menu.
Enter a name, date, and time duration for the event, and then press Return.For example, you can enter “Super Bowl Party Feb 6,” “Movie with Rebecca on Friday at 7pm,” “Soccer Game on Saturday from 11am-1pm,” or “Breakfast with Jon,” and then press Return.
If you don’t enter a time duration for the event, iCal sets the event’s duration to 1 hour.
If you don’t enter any time information for the event, iCal makes the event an all-day event.
If you enter “breakfast” or “morning,” iCal sets the event to start at 9 a.m.
If you enter “lunch “ or “noon,” iCal sets the event to start at 12 p.m.
If you enter “dinner” or “night,” iCal sets the event to start at 8 p.m.
To set any other event options (for example, to set your event to repeat, add an alert, or invite others to the event), make your changes in the event’s editor, and then click Done.

How to create a New Event Window Pop up

The program I want to develop has many layers. I want to have a menu page, after clicking on one of the buttons, I would like to see data display on the new event pop-up. I have checked the example : New Event Handler.vi however, it does not work when I put my own subvi into the Event Structure. Can you tell me what is the property of the subvi that I need to set in order to have it as a pop-up window?

Go to the File Menu - VI Properties. Select Window Appearance in the Category box. Then click on the Custom radio button and then click the Customize button. Click on the Show front panel when called checkbox and the Close afterwards if originally closed checkbox. Click OK. Now when you call your subvi, it will be displayed and will close when the vi is done.

New event window open when ical opens

Everytime Ical opens a New Event menu box appears eventhough I have no new event to mark in my calendar. How do I make go away?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Everytime I use Firefox, the IE pops out the same window.

For example, I was on St. Olaf College website using Firefox, then there was another window popped up, had everything exactly the same as the other one, but it was an Internet Exploror window. The problem is I can't close any of the IE windows that popped up.

What is your primary browser? The site may have prompted for the primary browser to be opened. Make Firefox the primary browser. Also, try disabling all addons and try again.

How to Pop-up new Window and load PDF at same time

In my servlet application, when I receive request, I have to load PDF form and at same time I have to pop up new browser window with html content ( help data).
I thought of writing <script>window.open(....)</script> to outputstream before writing FDFdocument , but it fails.
I am using FDF tool kit to load PDF forms, once I set content type to "application/vnd.fdf" , I can't write any javascript to response.
Any help /ideas to do this is appreciated.

Here is the way to solve this issue:
Make use of HTML frame, one frame (maybe with 0 height and width) pop up with a new HTML browser using javascript. Set the content type and display the pdf in another frame.
Note that one page can only set content type once, so if u have set it to application/vnd.fdf, you cannot write HTML content into same response stream.

Bug Report: New conversation window stills the sys...

Bug Report: Skype Desktop: New conversation window stills the system/keyboard focus.
When the UI is in multi-window mode and a conversation window pops up (due for example to a newly received chat message), that window steals the system/keyboard focus, even though it appears in a minimized state in the Windows taskbar. And this should not happen by default, because it is impractical (especially for screen reader users). And it didn't happen in Skype 6.21 and earlier. But since the new UI was introduced officially in Skype 7.0, it started happening constantly.
Steps to reproduce it:
1. From "View" menu, activate the "Split Window View", if it is not already enabled.
2. From Tools -> Options -> IM & SMS -> IM settings, enable "Open a new window when I receive a new message in Split Window View", if it is not already enabled.
3. From Tools -> Options -> Advanced, activate "Enable accessible mode", if it is not already enabled.
4. Activate the "Save" button, to save the changes.
5. Close all windows, related to Skype. You may keep only the main window opened.
6. Move the system focus to another application.
7. Tell someone to send you a chat message. When the message arrives and the conversation window pops up minimized in the Windows Taskbar, everything seams to be as it should. A few seconds after that however, the system/keyboard focus gets moved to that new conversation window, even though it is neither restored/maximized (it is minimized), nor it is visible on the screen (except as a button in the taskbar).
Actual results:
When a new conversation window pops up in the Windows taskbar, it stills the system/keyboard focus to itself from the currently focused application.
Expected results:
Skype's popping up new conversation windows should not still the system/keyboard focus to themselfs from the currently focused application.
Test environment:
- Operating system: Windows 8.1 Pro N, 64-bit, in Bulgarian with all locale settings set to "Bulgarian".
- Skype version: 7.0.0.102 for Desktop.

This is a known problem, but Skype have not given us an estimated time for a fix.
Traditionally, Skype updates have been roughly monthly, so we are due a new version sometime soon. Many of us here are hoping that is has a bunch of fixes for the UI, the focus problem being one of them.

Tab click unexpectedly pops out to new window

When I click on a tab, every so often (maybe 2-3 times a session), it will unexpectedly pop out to a new window. This occurrence is not like the purposeful downward click to immediately open a new window with the tab, but it is very delayed. In fact when this happens, my mouse pointer instantly jumps to the bottom right of the screen and if I don't move the mouse, the window doesn't open. But, after I move my mouse for a second or two, the tab pops out to the new window. Seems really strange, and can't find an answer anywhere.

Event Window has a new section that appeared out of nowhere

Would like to remove this new section from the Event Window. I have inserted a screen shot of the event window. The section I want removed is the 3rd one (middle of screen and next to video picture). How do I remove it?
Currently, I have Final Cut Pro 10.6.8 with Snow Leopard operating system.

No Drop down Calendar Window when entering a date for a new event.

Hope someone can help with this annoying problem.
In ICal when entering the date for a New Event a little window would pop up showing the month that you were creating the event in, you could then click on the date you required in the calender and it would then update the 'From' date field in your event. You could then do the same for the 'To' date field this was all very neat and fast, you could create event verys easily.
However since upgrading to Snow Leopard this has stopped working and I can't see why.
Does somone have answer ?

Opening New Browser window for click event on an image

hi all,
I want someone to help me out solving the problem of opening
a new browser window on the mouse click event of an image or a
button etc.... The new window would contain the datagrid details
from the main window, but in an expanded form. If at all there is a
solution, I even want to know whether there is anyway for sizing
the poped up window,because I dont want the new poped up window to
cover the entire screen.
For getting better idea of my problem, the best example I
could give is the popup window that appears when we click on the
preview button while posting the message to the forum.
Someone please do help me out in this regard.

I'd definitely try to use a Flex popup... but the
flash.net.navigateToURL method is a simple way to open a popup
window in a new browser. You can pass any data needed by the new
page using the URLRequest and/or URLVariables. The URL you navigate
to could, of course, be another Flex application if necessary. I
use this only when I need to open a popup window on another site,
or an HTML formatter report or something similar.
Concerning yourself with the size of the popup window may be
a bad design choice also. I, for example, have my browser
configured to open all popups in a new tab regardless of sizing
constraints imposed by the designer. If it is absolutely necessary
for you to have control over the size of your popup window, you
should follow the advice given by others and use a Flex
popup.

New message window keeps popping up

The new message window keeps popping up without prompting, usually twice in a row. I notice
this particularly when I first open the Mail program. The funny thing is that you can't actually type in any text in the new message window. Any ideas???

It seemed to work itself out after several days.

How to create an Interactive pop out window in inDesign CS 5?

Happy New Year everyone.
How do I create an interactive pop-out window in inDesign CS5? I want to have a filled content frame which has image, text and a border. when the user clicks on that frame, a pop-out window frame appears slightly over the previous frame in with a drop shadow fx. Then when the user clicks the pop-out window, it closes and the original content frame appears. Attached is a screenshot for reference.

For what end product? HTML? SWF? PDF? Offset print? (I don't think so, but I might as well ask.)
