Made in china nokia 808 build quality problem ?

There are some infomation on the web saying that made in china nokia 808 s not having the original carl zesis lens. is there any truth in this ?

I live in Australia and can tell you that all the Nokia phones I have bought since 2002 have been made in China.
As far as the hardware is concerned the fit and finish is great and I have never had a problem. But the software is a different problem. The only problem with made in China is that you have to be wary of counterfeits, but if you buy from a reputable dealer this should not be a problem. I buy a lot of model railway equipment that is made in China. Fit and finnish is great. Never had a problem.

  • Nokia E72 Build Quality

Is it me or is this device not as well built as the E71? The first time I plugged my USB cable in the flap cover came off!

I'm not impressed at all either. I'm not sure if it has to do with where the product is made either. My E71, which I bought through Dell, is made in Finland, and my E72, which is going back to Amazon, is made in China.I know they have the same quality standards everywhere, but I'd just like to hold an E72 that's made in Finland, in my hand.
My E71 is the best feeling phone I've ever held in my hands from Nokia. I expected the E72 to be just as good, if not better, and when I read Eldar's review from Mobile Review, I trusted him that it was.
It didn't turn out that way however. The battery cover on the E72 doesn't give me the feeling of being on secure like the E71's was. You knew when you heard those two clicks on the E71, that cover wasn't coming off. I loved that. It wasn't easy to open, but that didn't matter because I knew it was secured. The E72's opens way too easy and gives a little when you press the bottom of it, more so than the E71's. All Nokia had to do was make the mechanism that keeps the cover secure, a little stiffer, so it doesn't open as easily when you brush against it. It wouldn't have hurt to add another foam tape strip to the inside of the back cover either like they did on the E71. Talk about cheaping out a little...
The area containing the soft keys, one touch keys, and call keys, didn't impress me either. The call send key sounds like it's sticking, like someone spilled soda on it and let it dry out. This was especially the case when I first started using it. Now all the metal keys in that area sound that way. That's completely unacceptable, and the sole reason why I've asked Amazon for another.
Overall, the whole feel of the phone is cheap in comparison to my E71. Maybe it's the fact that the E71 feels heavier, and it's got more metal to the body. I don't know. Nokia better knock it off though. They seem to be going backwards trying to save money, more than they're going forward trying to build a better product.
On a side note, I don't know who was desiging the microSD card slot on the E72, but they royally screwed it up. Forget the fact that you need something small and pointy to open the cover for it, you need a pocket knife to actually get the card in and out. Bravo on that one Nokia. But hey, at least they got rid of those annoying rubber **bleep** from the E71 that just didn't belong there. I just wish they did a better job.

Got a UK product code 059P6W5 but 113.010.1508 is a maintenance update which consists of minor improvements and tweaks meant to enhance user’s overall experience and is highly unlikely to be rolled out to all regions unfortunately.

  • Nokia C5 build quality

Hey, I just bought a nokia c5 today and i'm quite happy with it so far. I got a few questions regarding the c5 though: The "0" seems to be loose compared to the other keys and the two keypads seems not to be aligned creating a 'hole" to collect even more dust ( i know that the c5 is not designed to be a dust resistant phone, but still). I've added two pictures to help you understand what I mean. http://img834.imageshack.us/i/nokia1.jpg/ http://img535.imageshack.us/i/nokia2.jpg/
so my question is: do other c5 owners also have this problem ?
    Cheers,

Hi Serious G... I also notice that the '0' button on my grey C5 is also misaligned and is kind of sunken. You C5 shows that the red "end call" button is raising up, while on mine is the left green "call" button is raising up.
Try this. Set your wallpaper to white or "Light" and insert a micro USB connector into the phone, You will notice that the LCD will "ripple" indicating that the LCD plate is pressured internally.
I am disappointed with this C5...
here is a pic of my nokia. Its worst than it is on the pic >> http://yfrog.com/jmimg00193201010081355j

I have to agree with sapporobaby here. The moral to this story is not to buy an expensive device outside of the country in which you live. I have been thinking of getting a phone from mobicity. Only problem all their phones come from hong kong and are not covered by warranty in Australia. If I am spending $800 plus on a device I want warranty cover in the country that I live. End of story. So do not blame Nokia. If you got your phone from HK that is now your problem. So why should Nokia in Australia repair a phone you bought in HK. Don't think you would get much joy from the consumer affairs people in Australia either.
Well we started off the new year agreeing. There is hope for anything now. Are you guys listening over in Palestine and Israel?
Anyway, nothing is covered internationally now. Maybe one or two things but most electronics aren't, even if you can prove your product is authentic. I have a registered Nikon camera that was purchased in Kuwait. Nikon USA found the product code from my camera but told me if it needs repair, I will have to either: 1. Board a plane to take it back to Kuwait, or 2. Send it to a local repair shop for them to send it to Kuwait where I will pay the shipping but get the warranty work for free, or 3. arrange to ship it myself with me still picking up some part of the tab. So, once again, go buy something else and get over it.

  • Nokia N97 NAM - - Made in China??

Is this true? That the NAM versions of the N97 are all made in China?
If so.. what versions / how will be the ones made in Finland?

yep there is a little secret to were its made from. If your device is made in finland  then this is the best build wereas other places like Hungary, China etc they will be bad build quality.
Given your rank, Shayesta, you should know better than to post rubbish like this.
As already confirmed several times by the moderators and by other forum members, some of much lower status than yours, the plant that manufactures a phone has no bearing whatsoever on the build quality of that phone. Whether the phone comes from Hungary, Finland, China or any of the Nokia plants spread around the world, the end product will be absolutely identical. All the factories manufacture phones with identical components, identical machinery and identical processes.
This is a myth that ought to be stamped out once and for all. Unscrupulous retailers in the middle- and far-east perpetuate it and use it as an excuse to sell phones imported from Finland at a premium, or they even relabel phones imported via the normal channels (usually from China) thus voiding the warranty, all in order to charge a bit more and fleece the customer.
You of all people should know better.
See... the problem that I have is this.  In the last year and 5 months a close friend and I have purchased 5 Nokia phones.  I started with an E51 followed by an E71, then an N85.  He purchased a 5800, and now N97.  All of these have been NAM phones except the E51.  The two E-series phones are made in Finland according to the tags.  The others are all made in China.  The E51 was never a problem.  I'm still using the E71 on a daily basis very heavily.  The N85 was replaced by Nokia within 1 month of me purchasing it.  It had a defective speaker at first which is what I sent it in for.  When Nokia received it they said it would no longer power on and replaced it with a new one.  The 5800 would not work on 3G from day one.  It was sent in and, according to the repair had a defective radio and was fixed.  Now, the N97 is experiencing the same defective speaker issue as the N85 and it's only just over a week old.  It now must be sent in for repair.  It's extremely disheartening.
I really want to believe that the phones that are made in China are of equal quality, but the problem is that in my experience, Nokia phones have had a 60% failure rate.  Five phones; three of them failed - all failures came from phones made in China.  The two perfectly working phones are made in Finland.
I don't want to start a war on what parts are used by which fabricators.  It appears that's irrelevant based on my first-hand experience.  If or when I order a Nokia in the future I will forever feel as though I need to be diligent in making sure that the phone is made in Finland for fear that another made in China phone will result in yet another failure.  I have plenty of products made in China.  It's clear that they know how to assemble electronics over there.  Sadly, the Nokias assembled there seem to be missing that classic Nokia quality that most of us have come to know.

  • Nokia phones released in UAE are made in "CHINA"!

What is this world up to!!!
i purchased a 8800 saphire arte for 5,000 dhs and guess what, it is made in korea!
then later i purchased an N96 4,500 Dhs n it was made in china!
    very poor quality!
often & prone hanging, corruption, un-informed restarting!!!
    a whole lot of problems...
i inquired all stores and found out that all phnes to be released by nokia are gonna be china here forth!
god bless china, as we are still paying the price for the original good stuff n we get the lowest of the class....
lets hope the quality does not lower even more like the chinese phones sold at Dragon Market - dubai!!!!

Nokia presently has production units in (presented in alphabetical order): Brazil, China, Finland, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Mexico, Romania and South Korea. There was until recently also one in Germany. You can always check the current list of production units at: http://www.nokia.com/A4149133. For logistical reasons, it is likely that your Nokia device was made in a production unit close to your country, there is no cause to worry about quality based on the location in which your device was manufactured.

  • N79 made in china???? what about quality?

i want to know that n79 made in china is same in quality as made in finland or hungary??? coz the dealer here says that nokia has their manufacturing unit in china also so they are of the same quality..........

As long as it is made by nokia it should have passed the QC test in which ever country it is made in.
It uses the very same chips and modules.
Just be careful as china also has immitations which looks just like the real ones.
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

correct, they are of the same quality as finland or hungary. nokia uses similar quality assurance processes in each country to ensure that phones manufactured are of high quality. so nothing to worry about there.

  • NOKIA 808 Settings menu disappears!

    Hello .
I just noticed this morning that my Nokia 808 has a problem with the settings menu.
Every time I open it after 1 second it closed down/disappears. It does not even show up on the multitasking so it seems it just closes down after 1 second.
Last night I did an upgrade for my Nokia 808 , was a small one about gallery and restarted last night.
Today when I try to check for updates it just takes forever and I have to cancel the attempt.
Please help. It's very annoying not being able to access the settings!

Suggest that you backup essential data via Nokia Suite and use option within this application to re-install exisitng device software. It might also be necessary to reset device to "Out of box" state by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by user) but beware this will delete all user data.

  • N82 - Made In China - Chinese quality - Disappoint...

I've recently bought a new, Chinese-made N82.The phone is genuine.
It was the most stupid thing i could do.
How can NOKIA QUALITY ASSURANCE let this happen? How can NOKIA roll out phones in such conditions?
I'm really disappointed as this has never  happened to me, i've bought over 10 nokia phones and i've never got one in this condition. This is the only Chinese-made i ever had
Never buy a Nokia phone  made in China, you will regret it!

i bought my n82 last year. this is how it looks today. this phone is also made in china. no issues, the best build and overall phone with fp1.

The fact is China has a quality control problem, which is something Nokia should think about. It wasn't that long ago that they sold poisonous wheat gluten to the U.S, that killed hundreds of pets. It wasn't that long ago that the U.S. Bought drywall from China that all had to be replaced due to it giving off fumes and making people sick. It wasn't that long ago that the U.S. Bought tainted toothpaste from China that was recalled. Recently, they sold tainted infant milk that sickened a lot of infants. These are just a few I know about, I am sure these more.. I am sure in all these cases they said the quality of the product was the same as what you could buy else where. If I have a choice between something made in China or Finland, I would pick the Finland product. It's all backed up by facts.
Most average Joes don't know all these and lots of people have hard time understanding what quality assurance is really. Lots of people think of it as producing a good  prototype , then clone that prototype into thousands other products LOL. We buy columns for GCS and HPLCs from a local company here: they don't guarantee that all columns are the same, in fact they are all different but within acceptable range. However, bad batch 'creep in' sometimes. And a bad batch would be the one which fall 3stdev outside the mean. Quality control is quite challenging and there's no way one can produce a clone, sometime we think we did but not really...Even machines (same ones) that help you with the production are not the same  (ask quantum theory why).
You have given good examples. I'm also one of the victims of the "made in china things' (bought a motherboard and blew up in 2 days, bought Geforce 8800 GTS and failed in 3 months, bought 7.1 logitech speakers and they didn't deliver..All made in china).  However the conclusion that anything made in china would be bad by default is misleading. Everything around me here as (except my MBP ) is made in china. It depends on how serious the quality control 'officers' are and how they value their morality. N97 wasn't useless because it was made in china, it's bad because of its poor specs.
So N8 made in china might be OK (if there are problems, then they may be blamed on specs).
