Magazines for iPhone 4 through 6+

Hello,
I'm designing a magazine for iPhone 4 through 6+ and having some questions.
I need the better resolution for each phone so I'm making a folio for each iPhone screen resolution. When I get them published on an iPhone 6, for example, I gonna see all the folios below them or the phone will recognize his screen size and just show the specific folio?
The next question is about the publishing for iPhone 6. I saw that the Content Viewer isn't available for this phone yet, but for the publishing it's gonna be there, right?
The last one is about the little black scrollbar that appears at the right of the Content Viewer and overlaps the design. After publishing, that scrollbar will disappears?
I think thats it!
Thank you for the attention!
John

Take a read through Bob's help topic on renditions: Digital Publishing Suite Help | Creating folio renditions. It should answer the bulk of your questions. At the moment you can't create an iPhone 6-specific rendition (the viewer won't show it), but that's ok as the iPhone 5 rendition is so close in size you probably won't ever want to go through the effort of making a rendition just for iPhone 6.
When you build a custom viewer with App Builder you can decide whether the scrollbar auto-hides.

Can i purchase apple care for iphone bought through verizon?  I want to upgarde thru verizon but don't want to pay a monthly fee with them for warranty. Verizon doesnt offer apple care on their website.

Incorrect sir.
After the 30 days YOU can still purchase Apple protection plan for $69, which extends your phone support just like AC+ and your hardware warranty just like AC+ it also gives you a a free battery replacement.
The only difference between AC+ and Apple protection plan is that AC+ covers accidental damage.
Customer who do not purchase AC+ or APP will then have to purchase a Pay-Per-Incident which is a $20 fee for each issue calling in on.
Pay-Per-Incidents or PPI's last for 30 days on the one issue that they were purchased on.
No, you cannot.
An iPhone in the USA is eligible for AppleCare+ and ONLY AppleCare+.  AppleCare+ completely replaced AppleCare for iPhones when it was announced.  Check Apples own warranty pages on the web site.  You CANNOT buy AppleCare for an iPhone in the USA - ever.  It is not offered for iPhones any longer.

• FCP movie to MV4 for iPod/iPhone/AppleTV through QT and Compressor: QT wins

Hello everyone, first the question, then a little background on why and what I have done and tested:
*What are the details for compressor settings to match the export formats in Quicktime Pro 7 for iPhone, iPod and AppleTV?*
+The background:+
+I am adding a few titles, lower thirds, and open and end credits to a few 1 hour shows that will be distributed as Video Podcasts using iTunes and a Mac OS X Server.+
+The source materials came from a 1024 x 768 capture using Wimba capture (set at 1024x768 @ 15fps) and I went ahead added a few Motion templates for open and end credits with a few edits.+
+I could not see RT (Real Time) video playback in FCP, I am assuming due to the source format:+
-m4v
-AAC
+-Mono audio+
-H.264
-1024x768
-15fps
+-415.41 kbps+
+I have my Motion templates set for HD (16:9) and the source materials were at 4:3.+
+In any case I created a small sequence in FCP with settings at 640x360.+
+Then I had to Export a QT movie, which gave me documents around the 5GB/hour mark. The quality is very good.+
+Now, to the compression. I open Compressor and exported the movies using the default:+
+-H.264 for Apple TV *Estimated Size: 2.05GB - Excellent Quality*+
+-H.264 for iPod video and iPhone 320x240 (QVGA) *Estimated Size: 246MB - Bad Quality*+
+-H.264 for iPod video and iPhone 640x480 *Estimated Size: 614MB - Very Good Quality*+
+To my surprise, the documents were very large. I need this for portability yet, keeping up great quality.+
+*Five (5) Episodes - 3hrs 20minutes - Using Compressor Apple iPhone Setting*+
+I created my own setting through compressor, but it still was a 410MB with good quality.+
+I thought to give the QT Export through Quicktime 7 Pro feature a chance, and I did, to my surprise, the Quicktime 7 Pro Export to iPod and the Quicktime 7 Pro export to Apple TV were fantastic, great quality, and the size just right, plus the exports were very fast, around 15 minutes per hour.+
+- QT Export to iPod *Estimated Size: 158MB - Very Good Quality*+
+- QT Export to Apple TV *Estimated Size: 182MB - Excellent Quality*+
+*Five (5) Episodes - 1hr 15minutes - Using Quicktime Pro 7 Export to iPhone*+
*That's why I would like to know what are the QT default settings for exporting to the Apple devices, to add such settings to compressor and get the same results.*
Please let me know if you know this.
BTW, I tried using Qmaster to farm out the rendering of compressor, and with these same documents it took almost twice as long to do compress the documents because of the copying of the source. I am not sure if there is a better way to use Qmaster, since I have access to a full-time dedicated Two 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon , you'd think that would speed up the process, but it really didn't.
Thank you.

i have purchased (veranda magazines) for my IPHONE which I would like to use on my macbook air. Do I have to repurchase these app or is there some way to get them in my macbook air with no charge?

Veranda Magazine is a free app available for iOS devices in the iOS App Store.  You then purchase a Veranda Magazine subscription from within the app.  In other words, the app itself is free, but the contents are not.
There is no way to duplicate or import this to a Mac.  Your Mac runs a totally different operating system.
iBooks can now import to Mac since OS X Mavericks came out about a month ago.  But that does not apply to magazines or iOS Newsstand publications.

Hello there, Ark.
It sounds like the iPhone has Activation Lock still activated. The following Knowledge Base article provides the methods available for removing the previous owner's account:

• For iPhone Case Lovers and their concern of Magnet Closers!!

I recently learned that some have had issues with their iPhone when used with a cases that includes magnets for closing. Sorry mwhitted for your woes.
While looking for a nice case for myself I became concerned of this, and decide to contact Sena about their Dockable iPhone case. This case seemed to be exactly what I was looking for, but after reading mWhitted and a few others problems I wasn't sure.
So I sent them a e-mail with the links and question their knowledge about their product.
This was late last night (about 1:39 am). How about 10:09 in the a.m. I get a response! A Long and thoroughly explained response (read Below).
Great customer service! I am going to give this company a try and see how well this works.
I have included my original e-mail to them and their response by Ronda so that you may judge for yourself.
PS. mWhitted, aparently the case you used may not have had the proper magnets and maybe not assembled appropriately for this phone which may have caused the problem. What do you think, maybe this may have been the cause?
Thanks for the info by the way.
Below is my email to them.

Subject: Pre-Order Dockable iPhone case
I have looked up many cases for my iPhone and I have found your Dockable one to be just the style and function I am looking for. Although recently there has been a buzz going around that the magnetic closing cases such as these have caused many iPhones to malfunction.
I was curious as to if you had any information on this? I also wanted to send you this so that you may look into this to avoid any potential problems with your sales.
Another question, I would like to know if it would be possible to replace the magnets in this case and apply velcro to it instead as an option for your customers?
As far as the info that I had on the magnets, you can read tease threads from apple support forums for reference.

Subject: Case Update: 1086 - Pre-Order Dockable iPhone case
Update for Case #1086 - "Pre-Order Dockable iPhone case"
We use only non Neodymium magnets that do not interfere with the device. We have done extensive testing with many devices to assure that the magnet use will not harm the internal applications or antenna on the devices which we manufacture cases for. Also we have long created cases for use with the IPOD nano, Ipod 3rd,4th and Ipod Video devices using the non Neodymium magnets in our cases without any interferance at all after selling thousands upon thousands of cases. Sena Cases are designed by Engineers with PhD, they are all handcrafted by skilled craftsmen who have been in the leather industry for many years making them expert leather craftsmen, our cases are not just designed by a purse maker or a designer who is thinking of only fashion and style, because of the engineering focus of the design staff they are detail oriented making sure that each and every feature and function of the device has been addressed and is accessible as well as taking wevery precaution to protect the devices and information which belongs to our loyal customers, and new customers as we hope that each person who finds their way to Sena Cases will become loyal to our products for all devices which they own now and in the future. Because our company's entire focus is PDA, Smartphone and Computer cases Sena Management and Design staff have extensively researched magnets available in the industry and magnetic substrates, with a solid plan to avoid any magnet which would harm any device we have created a case for, So the selection of the magnets available and the possible strengths that we can use are focused on a very limited type and size of magnet, sometimes even shape takes some precidence in the design of certain cases, in regards to the iPhone magnets the staff have created a new installation making the magnet undetectable on the open face of the case so that the form and shape are very sleek and suitable to the high style devbice which is in the Sena Case. Some case makers off shore may just throw a case together without considering future ramifications, These case manufacturers may be selling cases at a lower price point not created out of fine materials or more novelty type accessory cases that are often offered at a bargain price that is unbelievably inexpensive, They may be thinking when creating their own design that " this company and that company use magnets we will to..." this may be how cases get created for devices which may harm the device that they were intended to protect. Sena Cases has taken every precaution to design a slim sleek sexy iphone case that will protect your device in a very stylish fashion throughout the years that you own this expensive device.
I will pass your forum links on to our design staff and the research group as well as our company president for review, Customer feedback is highly valued here at Sena Cases. I assure you that serious research has been done to assure that your iPHONE case will fit precisely allow access to all features and functions and to protect your investment in the device and the information which it contains as you as well as your referrals and your future business is our main focus and if we dint sweat all the little details to attempt to create you a perfect case for your device we could not expect your loyalty to our brand.
We do also stand behind all our products with a one year warranty against any manufacturing defects. The best compliment we can receive is for a customer to refer family, friends, colleagues and strangers that they cross paths with to our cases as your refferral of our product is more valuable to us that a full page color ad in a major magazine, if your happy you will refer many people to our products who will refer their friends and so on and so on....
Stephan, I reccomend that you avoid Neodymium magnets in what ever case you elect to purchase and you will be fine, I am hopefull that you will elect to protect your iPhone in our cases, as we make a fine product as does many competitors in the market, I am not familiar with their designs for this device so I cannot speak openly about any of them, but the iPHONE cases in our office on display as well as future designer cases to be released before the fall are all incredible. Sena Will have some leathers and designs nwever seen before by similar type device owners ever in the past, as our company has searched out new Leather vendors as well as creating our traditional line of stylish Sena cases will be releasing a designer series of cases for iPHONE because the device is phenomonal the design staff and management felt that the cases could also help carry off the devices style in a ddifferent intrepretation.
You will love any of the Sena Cases designs which are available now or in the future., We have had customers stop by and try on the prototype cases which we have photographed and were in love with the look and fit. The sensor on the face of the case has been revised the original case designed before the device was available to accommodate the proximity/light sensors! The sensor lies above the ear piece at the top of the screen. so there will be two circular oval type openings above the screen. These cases are really off the hook, crazy cool and distinctively beautiful, I am hopeful you will enjoy owning one to protect your device.

• Printer control app for iphone

is it possible to roll back to a previous version of the Printer Control app for iphone?  I recently and stupidly updated the HP Printer Control app when offered through itunes on October 30 and have lost all the functionality I previously had to print directly from my iphone to my photosmart 7520.  Previously I could print whatever pages I chose from Safari and could change the print settings for either draft or normal, colour / black & white before printing.  Now when I try to print a page, you don't get the option to just print page 1 and it wastes ink.  If I open a pdf (all I've tried so far) document within this new AiO Remote app - even though my printer is listed and supposedly set up - I can't print at all!  I desperately want to ditch this abysmal update and go back to the version that worked perfectly.  I have conctacted Apple and they were unable to help as it's a third party app and referred me back to HP.  Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi brattynat. I have found a few older documents which might help you revert back.

Am using Windows XP desktop which is connected to router with Ethernet and my iPhone 4 uses the Wi-Fi.
Got latest version of iTunes.
Latest version of Remote.app
iPhone OS 4.3.3, not 4.3.5
I followed this guide to implement the inbound settings since it isn't available on Windows XP the way it is available on Windows 7:-
no-ip . com/support/guides/routers/configuring_windows_xp_firewall.html
The port number i entered for TCP is 3689 and named it as bounjourport(the name shouldn't matter).
mDNSResponder.exe is also running.
And am still unable to locate my iPhone in iTunes for 'Remote App'. Actually there isn't any "Devices" list present on iTunes, though it appears when i connect the phone with USB. Also tried port forwarding on router, still no change.
Please help!!
**My previous phone was Sony Ericsson w995 which supported DLNA and i could access my phone files through the same PC with Ethernet connection to the router, so i guess this should be possible for iPhone too.

• ActiveSync autodiscover not working for iPhone but for Android and Windows Phone

Hi
We have setup an Exchange 2013 hosted environment, where different mail domains are running on it.
The main domain is mydomain.com. One of the client domains is customer.com.
Autodiscover for customer.com has a cname which points to autodiscover.mydomain.com, on our firewall this url is redirected to autodiscover-s.mydomain.com, where our public certificate for mydomain.com is applied. Autodiscover for all
our customers finally ends at autodiscover-s.mydomain.com.
Outlook WebApp, Outlook Anywhere and ActiveSync for all customers is reachable through mail.mydomain.com.
Everything works fine, except of autodiscover for iPhones. I always have to enter the server name mail.mydomain.com manually. After that ActiveSync works on iPhones as well.
The Problem doesn’t exist on Androids and Windows Phones.
Any suggestion?

I still have an old 3G which I use mostly as a ipod/radio. By accident I found you can overide the i-tunes block.
1. Select Apps in Apps store icon on the phone.
2. Choose App to download
3.  At "Instal" button press it QUICKLY in blocks of 3 presses, keep doing  this until it overides the i-tune warning, then if there were legacy  versions for os 4.2.1 it says something like "this app is for os 5 or  above", but gives you a choice to download an older version. Select  this.
Sometimes  it says the Apps is for newer hardware, requiring motion sensors, front  camera's etc.. just got to accept these ones don't work on legacy  hardware.
4.  Download does not work for all Apps, esp. newer ones written after os  4.21 or if the developer doesn't have the vintage apps archived- e.g.  Instagram downloads, but won't run (wants to update), or WSJ and Barrons  stalls and goes through a download loop.
I am not making this up, as I bought this old 3g unit on e-bay, after a complete factory reset I now have:
-  Tune-in, FB, Pandora,Skype, Twitter, Bloomberg, MSNBC, Forbes,  Marketwatch, Viber, amongst a host of other news apps like LATimes.
Some Apps will download ok, and then at activation says its too old and no longer supported e.g Whats App.
Otherwise,  good luck. Tune-in, Pandora, Skype and Twitter is all I need to keep me  happy with an old unit, even though I've got newer hardware. Never let  anything die unnaturally.
