Magenta apple logo at startup?

I recently noticed  the Apple logo is magenta at start up, when it is centered on the screen, before it turns gray and moves up the screen to make room for login details. I cannot replicate the issue on restart but only see it when it starts up first thing in the morning. It literally flashes up for just a second or two then normalizes to gray. Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Safe Mode deletes some system caches that may help.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () drop down menu.
See if the Apple logo is still magenta.

Why is there a split line on apple logo on startup screen?

If you are talking about the curved line, it just looks like that is how they made it.

  • Gray bar under Apple logo during startup with 10.7.2

    Hi everyone,
first-time iMac owner since May 2011, I'm experiencing exactky the same problem described in the article Mac OS X v10.6: Gray progress bar appears under Apple logo during startup, but with two important differences:
it never happened with the original the 10.6 factory-installed, and started to appear after upgrading to 10.7 at the beginning of August
my iMac, included in the HD replacement program announed by Apple in July 2011, had the HD replaced with a new one in October 2011
In addition to the behavious described in the KB article, it's worth noting that, when one finally manages to log in (and the gray bar may take one good minute to disappear, which happens after filling up to approx. 60-70% of its length), the iMac is barely unusable, as the graphic interface is suddenly **** slow and there's a lot of flickering.
Since seeing is believing, please have allok at the YouTube video I made on this "false start", as I named it: see iMac_falsa_partenza / iMac_false_start.
I had already reported the problem to the local assistance, and they had told me it was an evidence of the HD problem indicated by Apple. Then they replaced the HD  (...did they, actually? Probably yes, as the  HD now installed is far noisier than the old one), but the very same day I brought it back from the assistance, at the second start... bam, here's the nasty gray bar again.
I didn't further report the problem to the assistance because my faith in their capability has cracked and because the simple replacement of the HD took them  three full weeks. But this "false start" issue really, really bothers me a lot, as it happens every other day.
How can I have some good Apple expert technicians take this problem seriously and help me solving it?
As a first-time owner of a Mac, I have onestly to say I'm much, much disappointed by this story... Thanks anyone for any help.

  • Loading bar under Apple logo on startup

    Hello,
So about a month or so ago, after i had installed and ran Lion since the day of release, my iMac version 11,3 my mac has started showing a grey progress bar underneath the apple logo during startup. When this loading bar appears, the mac then goes to the loading screen, but it seams that my graphics card is acting slow or weird somehow. After loging in, i have no sound whatsoever, or any network connection at all. Its like all the drivers have miraculously disappeared!
As i read somewhere that it could be something relating to a hard drive problem that, on startup, is trying to fix, i changed the HDD to a new SSD (didnt buy it just for that reason, was looking at getting one anyway)
This has not fixed the problem and i believe it could have something to do with a bug in lion, as for the entire time ive owned this mac, it has been fine. I believe this has happened to a couple of other people, but i hope detailed information can help solve it.
Thanks for reading. Hope you can help.

I am able to reinstall the os if it matters, just would not like to lose all of my data.
Does that mean that you choose to not keep a backup?
The loading bar is normal, once it was a little wheel, now it's a bar. Same thing.

  • IPod Freezes on Apple Logo at Startup

Whenever I try to turn my iPod on, it just freezes on the Apple logo at startup. Resetting the iPod doesn't work, as it just does it again. It does not go to the menu, nor does it light up.
When plugging it into the computer, it says "Very low battery, please wait" then goes to the Apple screen, doing nothing at all. I don't even understand how the battery is dead. It's been plugged in multiple times for plenty of time since the last time I used it.

My iPod has been plugged in all day, and I've noticed the screen started lighting up, and after turning off and on a few times it turned on completely and connected to my PC. Hopefully this whole ordeal won't happen again.

  • Lion 10.7 gray progress bar appears under Apple logo on startup.  Slow to boot to login prompt or Finder

iMac Troubleshooting topics section shows this topic for SnowLeopard10.6 and suggests that there may be a hard disk problem.  Recommendation was to startup iMac from the 10.6 install disk and use Disk Utility to attempt to repair the hard disk.  Lion 10.7.2 was downloaded so there is no disk to attempt this repair with.  Any suggestions or experience with the gray cloth screen in Lion and a progress bar under the Apple logo on boot up?  It seems to take a lot longer to boot up now to get a login prompt or desktop than when it was fresh out of the box in July 2011 with Snow Leopard 10.6  Thanks for your help!

    Hello
    just an idea
first shut down your mac then , unplug your keyboard if is a wired one , or remove battery from your wirless keyboard then power up your mac , does the progress bar appear again ?
or more simple try an other keyboard if is possible , preferably a wired keyboard

  • "World - Earth" logo instead of Apple logo on startup...

    Hi,
Last few startups of my macbook pro (2,4, 15.4'') I noticed that instead of Apple logo, LCD displays "Earth" and just waits there.
I thought that it was maybe because connected HD (fw800) and Audio card (fw400), so i tryed do disconnect both at next startup, and still "Earth" logo appeared.
Plugged out also LAN cable on next startup, and after 15-20 sec. "Earth" became Apple logo, OSx booted.
Does anybody have a clue, what happened? I ran hardware check from OSx installation disc, no hardware problem...
Didn't find any post or discussion, where "Earth" logo would be explained or even mentioned...
Can anyone explain, what is this "Earth" thing doing and what it means?
    Thanx
    i

The Earth means it is trying a network boot. Make sure the correct hard drive is selected in the "Startup Disk" system preference.

  • Yellow apple logo at startup (10.9.3)

    Hi,
When my Macbook Pro Retina starts up I see a pizellated green or yellow (it depends) Apple Logo.
Does anybody know what causes this? It looks like corrupted graphics or an EFI boot bug?
    Occurs since 10.9.3
    Thanks for all your help,
    Madison

After that you can also try a PRAM reset.
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • A streak across apple logo during startup??

I don't know anyone posted this before, but i look through a few page cant find any solution.
i just got my iphone 3G yesterday. I discovered the Apple logo had a so-called a cut/ line/ streak across on the apple logo during the iPhone startup.

There's already a post on this. You should do a search on this next time.
Anyway, look at the top nav of this page and then look at the first tab where there is an Apple logo. It has the same streak. Is there something wrong with this website?
No, it's part of the Apple logo so you're okay.

  • No apple logo or startup manager when booting.

My mac pro 3,1 will not allow startup manager access. I've tried holding option key nothing happens. No Apple logo either. I've removed the hard drive and don't even get the question mark w/ folder. When I power on the screen stays blank until the Desktop appears. Mountain Lion is installed and I've been trying to remove and install Snow Leopard. I purchased a retail copy of snow leopard and held down "C". I can hear the dvd spin for a while and makes noise as if it's reading/loading disc but it eventually stops and the screen never comes on. I had previously attempted to run boot camp and install windows 7 and after it was installed only windows would boot couldn't get startup manager and was told to reset pram. After resetting pram it started booting to mountain lion again but i've never been able to access startup manager since. I installed a blank hard drive and removed my primary drive and was able to get a Mountain Lion DVD to install on blank hard drive but still no startup manager. I really don't like mountain lion and want snow leopard. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP?
    thanks

The Mac Pro 3,1 shipped with a special version of 10.5.1. The trials and tribulations of users trying to install 10.6 are based on the Mac Pro 5,1 (2010 model and later) that shipped with custom 10.6.4, and the latest "Full Retail" DVD is 10.6.3. So this problem does not apply to you.
Under versions of Mac OS X less than 10.8.3, no graphics card is expected to show a picture  __at all__ unless it has an EFI ROM and EFI firmware. If it is flashed with EFI firmware, it will show its first picture at the login screen (of course, if it never gets to the login screen, you get no picture at all).
I suggest you get an Apple-Firmware 5770, about US$250, which works in every model Mac Pro. It will show a picture on older versions of Mac OS X, and acceleration is provided by the Drivers included in 10.6.5 and later. It will also provide much better compatibility and support for advanced software going forward.

  • Mac stuck on white screen with apple logo at startup

It's a few days i have this issue.
When i turn on my macmini (late 2009) it does the startup sound, but when the white screen with apple logo appears it stucks on that screen.
To solve this problem i have to unplug the power connector, when i restart it works normally.
This happens randomly, not at every startup.
I switched from normal HD to ssd HD (brand new one), i have the same problem with both HDs.
Since black outs are not good for computers i woult solve this problem.
Does anybody have my same issue or know what's wrong?
    Thanks!!!

It seems this problem only appears when I have a movie in my iPod Nano. Therefore the long startup time I guess.
