Magic Bullet Instant HD Converter

Hi Gang
I downloaded the trial version of this HD converter, but I don't really know yet if it's worth it. I always thought there was no way in the world anything like this would really work. In a sense I guess all it does is perhaps enhance standard def footage. It can never create something that wasn't there in the first place.
Does anyone have any opinons or results using this software???

Thanx

Hey ttom
Thanx for this - this program is cheaper than the Magic Bullet program. But is it for a MAC or PC? Wonder if it's as good? But it sure looks easy to use.
How bout this one;

Anyone else out there have any experience with the Magic Bullet HD converter?

  • Problam with magic bullet instant hd advance

after i changed my sd video to 1080p and added magic bullet instant hd advance i set it so that it renders in h.264 codecs but every time i tryed i got this message.

The H.264 format only permits a limited, constrained set of frame sizes.  In After Effects CS4, these constraints were communicated in the  Comments field of the H.264 Export Settings dialog box, and you must follow those instructions or else get the error message that you got.
In After Effects  CS5, if your settings don't match one of the sets of settings allowed  by the H.264 specification, then a warning icon in the Output  Module Settings dialog box appears, and After Effects tells you  what it's going to do to make the video fit.
The F4V format (which contains video encoded using H.264) has a different set of constrained sizes, including the 1920x1080 size that you're looking for. And other formats (like QuickTime) aren't constrained in this way at all. So, you might have better success choosing a different output format, if you need that output frame size.

  • Rendering with magic bullet instant hd advance

i'm trying to change the video resolution on my sd videos to 1080p hd.
what is the best way to do so to get the best results??
the quailty on my sd videos are good.I just wanna make them 1080p and if possiable make the quailty even bettter with magic bullet instant hd advance.

You can't spin hay into gold, so have realistic expectations of what a plug-in can do.
The Red Giant website has a few before and after clips. (But keep in mind, these are best case scenarios) I have had mixed results with Instant HD. It's not a miracle Easy Button.
Here's something I've wanted to test: capture video with a Blackmagic/AJA board and an upscaling DVD player (like a PS3), using 1080i and analog component connection. PS3 has one of the best consumer hardware upscalers available.  Hmmmm... maybe I'll try it this weekend. I'll post my results

  • Magic Bullet Instant HD Advance Is Tanking forever to render

Don't know if it normally takes this long to render in Adobe After Effects CS4.
I have a 64-bit sytem and I hardly got anything on my pc just a few music and music videos so its probably not the computer.
I must of done somthig wrong.Heres what I did.
I imported my 4:3 video then I draged the video under the project panel once i draged the video under the project panel it created a new comp.
I double click it and it open in the timeline panel then i selected the time panel by pressing ctrl+k the new com press setting opend and in the comp I set the resolution to 1920x1080 and the aspect ration to square pixels. Then I scale the video till it fit the comp.
After I did all that I added magic bullet instant hd advance to the video.I set the output to HDTV 1080 ( 1920X1080 ) so that it maches.
    It's been it's now 2 hours and still it's rendering.It's says that it's rendering 1 of 2 what's that about?
Does it render with the plug-in and with out?
Anyways if someone reads all this can u tell if I did anything wrong. If so explane what I did wrong and how to do it right.

it frezes up and pauses threw out the whole video eveytime.
don't know why it does that when i upscaled the video without magic bullet the video was blurry but when i added magic bullet instant hd advance the video wasn't blurry anymore instad the keeped frezing and pauseing.

  • Anyone else is having problems with magic bullet instant hd 1.2?

i've tried to download the trial from there website but it had a virsus and i couldn't install the trial cuz my norton block it.
did anyone eles had this problem?

I just installed Instant HD onto two different systems with PPro CS5 5.0.2, and Instant HD 1.2 isn't working on either one. It gives me an error, then crashes PPro. I sent a bug report to Red Giant, but I haven't heard back yet.
Something is up with the plugin...seems to work fine in AE.
As for internet access, I don't have antivirus software on my edit machines, but I also can turn off and on the internet connection. I just keep it off most of the time...

  • Film Convert Pro vs. Magic Bullet Color Suite

    All,
I'm currently in the process of considering to purchase Magic Bullet Color Suite, but I also see their is a product that some Dslr filmmakers use call Film Convert Pro, it costs a bit, but I want to know if this is something that is needed, if you already have the Magic Bullet Color Suite.
    Regards,
    Jamaine Semple

I own and have used both FilmConvert Pro and the MB suite and frankly, I recommend both...sort of.
FilmConvert is used to turn your video camera footage into what it would look like had you actually shot on film.  That's it's primary purpose and it works beautifully.  It can also do color correction as a secondary function, and that also works quite well.  I tested a problem clip with both FilmConvert and Colorista.  Viewed on my calibrated Sony Trinitron CRT HDTV, I had a very hard time telling the difference between the clips, meaning the correction on both looked great.  However, within the PP sequence, the FC corrected clips definitely ran smoother than the Colorista corrected clips.
Having said that, I notice that my SpeedGrade corrected clips run even better in PP than the FilmConvert clips.  And SG is far more powerful than either FilmConvert or Colorista.
So my recommendation is to use FilmConvert to 'convert' your video into film, and then use SpeedGrade to do any color correction and grading.  Where does that leave Magic Bullet?
I don't feel Colorista is necessary at this point, now that we can get any footage into SpeedGrade.  However, MB Looks still offers plenty of 'effects' that you may find useful.  Things like diffusion, vignettes, soft-focus, etc.  These are things that might well be possible to duplicate in other ways, but not with the ease and simplicity that Looks offers.  You may not need the full Suite, but I feel Looks is still worth having.

  • Magic Bullet Frames Workflow

Does anyone have any experience, or a general feel, for the best workflow when using Magic Bullet Frames 1.1 from within PP5.5 with 24p conversion being the ultimate intended goal?
    Using DV source material.
I have done a deartifact, a color treatment and a 24p-deinterlace (stacked in that order in the effects tree) in one pass/render.
But - I have also heard you should break up these steps and do them individually - so do a non-24p deinterlace as one render, dearticfact as another, and then color treat as a render, and then 24p convert on a fourth pass.
Also deartifact first or deinterlace? Can you do both at the same time on a render? pros cons?
Curious about the entire process really.
As an aside - if it is good practice to deinterlace footage straight away before doing anything else to it - when you later do a 24p conversion with MB, typically the final step in the process, arent you deinterlacing it a second time as MB 1.1 combines 24 and deinterlace as one action now. (though as i mentioned you can do just a deinterlace sans the 24p conversion).
    Thanks.

This post isnt 24 hours old.
Yes I need your help - did you want to go private?
Basically I just need to know the order in which to apply the different techniques - and whether to do them all at once - or break them up separately.
Keep in mind Magic Bullet 1.1 hasnt been out "many years" nor has PP5.5 - so I'm not sure if that will affect your advice - there were some substantial changes to their usability in platforms.
    Thanks!

  • Magic Bullet Grinder x Conform in Cinema Tools

What is the diference(if exists) between convert 29.97fps to 23.976 using Magic Bullet Grinder and
    Conform in Cinema Tools?

None. Does the same thing. When it comes to 720p60...Grinder will also convert it to 1080p. Cinema Tools will not.

  • Premiere Pro and Magic Bullet Frames Help

I shot a wedding a few weeks ago using the Canon XHA1 and down converted in the camera into Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.   I placed all of the edited clips on a 29.97 time line.  Here is the question… There are some portions of the video that I want to apply Magic Bullet Frames to give it more of a cinematic look.  From what I have read, it is best to place footage on a 23.976 timeline and then apply magic bullet frames (according to the magic bullet tutorial).  How can I do this since I have placed all clips on a 29.97 time line.  Should export the footage out to After Effects, apply the Frames effect on a 23.976 timeline and then re-import back into Premiere Pro (29.97)?  Or is there a better way?  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

From what I have read, it is best to place footage on a 23.976 timeline and then apply magic bullet frames (according to the magic bullet tutorial).
Two things.  First, I'd like to see that tutorial.  To the best of my knowledge, Frames does not create actual 24p files, it adds back the proper pulldown so you still need to work in a standard 29.97 preset.
Second, dv2Film was created because products like Frames just weren't good enough.  Give it a try at the link below.  It's free, and creates the best looking film conversions yet.

  • Magic Bullet Editors 2

    www.lfhd.net
Red Giant Software recently released Magic Bullet Editors 2. It renders much faster than the first version. And it has great film look (color correction) filters.
Nattress Film Effects filters have great color correction presets too. Plus it STILL is the only plugin package that converts 60i and 30 fps footage to 24P. Oh, and it is currently being used for Fox Sports for the playoffs.
Just to let you all know.

I too can confirm that MBE 2 works with FCP 6.
And as for FCE...you gotta ask that in the FCE forum.

  • I am having problem when I am installing magic bullet look 1.4 please help

Hi, I am having an issue with my Red giant magic bullet look 1.4
When I am installing this plug ins I receive a message saying: your graphic card did not meet the minimum requirement but actually my graphic card did meet the requirement and I was looking at the requirement for this in website and my Gcard met the requirement.  Why is it not installing?
    please help me
    I use premiere pro CS3
    Win 7 OS 64bit
My graphic card is: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (Microsoft corporation-WDDM v1.1)
The minimum requirements for the plug ins are: Magic Bullet Looks supports a wide range of cards from both ATI or NVIDIA. For ATI cards, we require a 9600 XT or greater, or an X series card starting with the X700 series. Cards with greater model numbers and at least 128 MB of RAM can run the Looks engine.
For NVIDIA cards, we support the 6600 model and higher or QuadroFX 1300 and up. Cards with higher model numbers and a minimum of 128 MB of RAM can run Looks. For users working with HD images, we require that the video card have at least 256 MB of RAM. In all cases, we suggest using the latest video drivers for your graphics card.
Please Note Since all media is processed at 32 bit, you will absolutely need a 256 MB graphics card or larger. For newer cards from ATI and NVIDIA, we recommend a minimum of 320 MB of RAM. For 2K projects, we recommend 512 MB or a larger amount of RAM on the graphics card.

    Run this.

  • Red line with Magic Bullet Looks

Magic Bullet Looks in the Video Effects panel shows as a 32 GPU accelerated effect.
However, when I add it to a clip in timeline one, two or three, I go from no lines (including yellow) to a red line above that clip.
If it's a GPU accelerated effect why am I seeing a red line above the clip when I add that effect?
My card is a 285 that works fine with everthing else.

Magic Bullit Looks is not a accelerated effect, so that is why you are seeing the red line.
Effects with the icon on the left are accelerated.

  • PP CS4 crash - because of magic bullet stabilizer??

I'm using PP CS4 and I have a wedding video that I've been working on and it all of the sudden crashed on me. I used time machine to pull up an older version which opened fine but I lost the hours of work I put in. So I tried again to open the file that crashed and it worked. I sent it to the media encoder to render out but woke up to an "unknown error" message. I'm back to being unable to open the file with all the work.
My hunch is that the problem is an effect, more specifically Magic Bullet Stabilizer. This is only a guess but I remember it acting funny when I dropped it on the video layer. (It didn't seem to work and it would freeze up a little.) I could be wrong, other effects I'm using are Magic Bullet Denoiser and a bunch of standard color effects.
When I try to open the file I see what looks like chopped up pieces of an error message and my desktop background in the project window and then it crashes. I'm unable to do anything before PP crashes.
If anyone can help, please do...
    Thanks...

    Hi there,
I have seen crashes using Magic Bullet Denoiser in Premiere Pro CS5.  Red Giant says Denoiser is currently unsupported for CS5, and I assume that goes the same for CS4.  The Denoiser compatibility notes are here:
    http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/magic-bullet-denoiser/compatibility/
Unfortunately, I don't have compatibility info on Magic Bullet Steady for CS4.  I know it is discontinued for CS5.  Perhaps you could contact Red Giant directly to ask them.  Even better, if you could post back your results for other users who may have the same question.
    Cheers,
    Zac

  • After Effects CC 2014 Crashing with Magic Bullet Looks on Mac

    Hi,
I recently installed the upgrade to the latest After Effects CC 2014 v13.0 and found the Magic Bullet Looks now causes After Effects to crash. I'm using MBL v2.5.2
I opened the Activity Monitor and noticed that whenever the crash occurs the Adobe QT32 Server is in a state of (Not Responding)
On a clip I can apply the MBL plugin with no problems and even if I am copying a previously set up version from a previous clip, it applies and renders without trouble. I can click "Edit" on the plugin controls, open up the MBL control window and make all the adjustments I need without any trouble. The issue is when I then click either "Finished" or "Cancel" to go back to After Effects. The program freezes and I get the spinning wheel of death for about ten seconds and the the whole thing, MBL and AE shut down.
    I am running:
    MacBook Pro
    OS 10.9.4
Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i72.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
    Cuda  6.0.54
The footage is Apple Quicktime ProRes HQ
I have Quicktime v10.3 installed and Quicktime Pro v7.6.6
I am at a loss as of how to fix or even work around this. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

There was a bug in MBL on Premiere CC 2014 that was causing crashing and lockups. Red Giant released an update quite quickly that so far seems to have fixed it for me. I know you're talking about AE but maybe there's some common code that was also fixed? As Rick says, have you checked the latest ver of MBL?
