Magic Mouse and iPhoto problem.

Hi,
I recently installed Lion on my imac. Now I have a problem. If I try to scroll my picture in iphoto with my magic mouse iphoto crashes every time! If I try to use my normal mouse I have no problem... How can I fix that? Please, help me!

Mind if I ask how you solved the bluetooth / slow internet video issue.?

  • Connection problems with Magic Mouse and handoff

I did a clean install of 10.10.3 and since then the Magic Mouse has had problems connecting. First it wouldn't pair. After a few reboots and repeated attempts I was able to pair the mouse with the rMBP. After waking from sleep it now no longer connects. I select the mouse in the Bluetooth menu and connect. Connection appears on the screen, but the mouse doesn't respond. After a few moments I get Connection Lost on the screen.
In addition to the mouse problems I have completely lost any hand off capability to or from the iPhone to the rMBP or back. It's like the Bluetooth connection between the devices is not working or is too weak to function.
It would be very much appreciated if any one has any suggestions on the cause or to a solution.
    Thanks.

    Hey Tom,
NVRAM and PRAM are, while technically different, effectively the same. Newer systems utilize NVRAM to store the same information that was stored in PRAM on older Macs.
On older Mac computers, similar information was stored in Parameter RAM (PRAM). Resetting NVRAM on Intel-based Macs using the same key combination is like resetting PRAM.

  • Bluetooth problem with OSX Yosemite: Magic Mouse and Keyboard

    Hello everyone,
I've a problem on my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 13" (late 2013).
I've always used it plugged with an external monitor (I love double screen), magic mouse and bluetooth keyboard. On Mavericks everything was perfect with this setup.
Yesterday I installed OSX Yosemite and I've found a boring problem: my Magic Mouse and my Bluetooth Keyboard have a 0.5 second of latency, lag. This happen when the Macbook is not plugged with battery charger. When he is on charge, the problem don't exist.
I noticed this bug also on the public beta of this summer and submit the feedback.
I hoped that they fixed this before release but the bug is still here.
How can i solve this boring problem?

I also reported this issue again and again during each beta release.
This makes the MacBook basically unusable in battery power for doing any kind of design and coding work.
I don't have any bluetooth addons or third party utilities. I also tried clearing PRAMs, and reinstalling Yosemite, to no avail.
Here are some threads about the issue, which, I'm noticing, is common.

Note that while the issue is kind of tolerable using the mouse, it's tragic with the keyboard.
Does this prevent you from using OS X Yosemite?
The issue makes it very difficult for me to use OS X Yosemite

  • Magic Mouse and Mavericks

I have a new iMac wi a wireless Magic Mouse.  The problem I'm having is the erratic behavior of the MMouse. The window of any software are -
Safari, iPhoto, Mail or Photoshop or Quark… any one. While u are reading or writing, the content within the window moves!!  Up, down, literally flies
sideways, left or right, no set pattern.
Any ideas how I can solve this?
    Thanks
    Julie

    Hi Julie,
Try this. Open a finder window, and while holding the Option key, click on the Go Menu, and click on Library.
Then go to Preferences, and look for a file called com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouchMouse.plist.
Go ahead and delete this file, restart and see if it's better.
If you had set up any preferences for natural scrolling, multitouch gestures etc. you will have to go into your Mouse Preferences and set them again.

  • Magic mouse and trackpad not working

All of a sudden my magic mouse and trackpad stopped working.
I tried everything, preferences, bluetooth config, but nothing works.
Sometimes in the mouse prefpane, I get the message that the mouse is connected, then after a few seconds  it shows disconnected.
In Bluetooth config I get the message that the mouse is connected but the wheel keeps spinning and then it says "connection failed. software configuration and bluetooth may be invalid or are not supported".
    Same for the trackpad.
My second mac is also seen, and "connected ?" , but when I try to open the connection it fails also.
System is lion 10.7.5. imac 3,6 Ghz corei5 from 2011.

Found out myself how to solve the problem.
Simply resetting the PRAM and everything was ok.
    Thanks anyway

  • Been losing connection for magic mouse and wireless keyboard

When I have my MBP running Mavericks in clamshell mode, I lose connections to both magic mouse and apple wireless keyboard in clamshell mode. I've tried all the PRAM SCM, aluminum foil and paper tricks. What I then did was test what happens when I leave the MBP open rather than in clamshell mode and it appears to avoid losing connection, at least that is what I've concluded with Mavericks for now..... anyone else able to replicate this? Having to leave the MBP open is not ideal.

Barry, thanks, still not working.  I've tried every thing I can think of or have read, what I'm concluding is that there is either a problem with Mavericks or something has changed on how bluetooth works in Mavericks. Did not have this problem for the last 4 years. I can reproduce the problem when I close the laptop. I had the Bluetooth and wireless card checked out and replaced about 3 weeks ago. Problem has continued.

  • Right-click on Magic Mouse and Volume Controls on Wireless keyboard suddenly stopped working

I am running Mavericks 10.9.2 on an Late 2012 iMac.
One morning the right click on my Magic Mouse and the volume controls on the wireless keyboard stopped working.
These mouse and keyboard themselves seem fine; they work okay ehn used on a MacBook.
Everything else about the mouse and keyboard is fine.
This seems to be a problem what has been around for a whole, with a wide variety of solutions.
    I have read

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23474052#23474052
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19660884#19660884
    and have tried
Clicking on and off the 'right click' checkbox in the Mouse System Preferences - No effect
    Deleting /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist - No effect
Restarting in Safe Mode - When starting in safe mode, the computer crashes out and restarted
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM - Is it CTRL+CMD+P+R or CMD+OPT+P+R ?  Neither work for me (I do try it using a wired keyboard, but never get the double chime)
Upgraded to 10.9.2 - no effect
Moved the /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHIDMouse.kext and AppleHIDKeyboard.kext and and back in (and re-authenticate) - No joy
Moved the /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHIDMouse.kext and AppleHIDKeyboard.kext from a working MacBook on same OS - Made the keyboard misbehave even more
Has anyone got any other cures for this?
    Thanks in advance.

Here is what worked for me.  My scrolling on the mighty mouse and a few buttons on my wireless keyboard weren't working properly.  I reset the SMC, a link explaining the process is below.  Hope it helps you too!

  • Magic Mouse Left Click Problem

I got a Magic Mouse for Christmas this morning and set up with my Macbook Pro. The setup went quickly and well. I was able to move the cursor around my screen with the Magic Mouse.
However, the click buttons don't work. I have tried left and right clicking and nothing happens.
Is there a problem with my mouse or did I miss something in the setup?
    Thanks.

I had the same problem this evening. Is it possible that you had your USB or trackpad mouse buttons reversed when you switched to the Bluetooth mouse?
I normally reverse my mouse buttons (like for left handed people). My index finger naturally rests on the upper right corner of the mouse. When I try to use the normal button config, my hand and forearm fatigue in no time. Reversing the buttons allows me keep my index finger relaxed for all the normal mouse clicking, then I reach left for the "right" button.
It also discourages others from using my computer!
Anyhow... When I connected to the Magic Mouse, the buttons didn't work. I turned it off and connected the USB mouse, returned it to "right-handed" mode and switched back to the Magic Mouse, and the buttons work correctly now. I then use the Magic Mouse control panel to set Secondary click to left.
    Hope that helps!

  • Apple Magic Mouse and ID

I've recently purchased the lovely Apple Magic Mouse and am finding it quite difficult to use with InDesign CS4 - other ID versions would be the same I imagine. With this mouse you scroll by stroking its top surface, rather like a trackpad. This is excellent in other applications but in ID, because the pasteboard area is so large and the sensitivity of the mouse so high (even when scrolling is turned down to the minimum in its preferences), it's very easy to make your document shoot sideways off the screen. I expect Illustrator would have similar problems.
Is there a way in which the ID pasteboard can be resized or constrained? Maybe someone will come up with a prefs panel to control the new mouse's scrolling more precisely - but not yet.
    Thanks for any ideas.
    John Mallinson

I agree, it's far too sensitive. The core problem is that we have become so accustomed to resting our fingers on the surface of mice, because they always require a *definite* press, or scroll action. Now the magic mouse is so sensitive to ANY touch that it reacts to touches meant to push the mouse or were not meant to contact the surface of the mouse.
At first I liked it a bit, but the more I use it, I think it's Apple's worst mouse ever. Puck included (at least you could buy a housing to put them in). This mouse doesn't "seem" to track the same as all other wired mice I've ever used. The touch interface is great for vertical scrolling, but as pointed out here, far to sensitive in circumstances where such scrolling is not desired. Perhaps this could be rectified with a *very* comprehensive preference panel, ie one that lets a user specify the amount of scroll or movement required to initiate a swipe/scroll. The Wacom tablet panel has such prefs, for each program and an overall control as well (ie all unspecified apps). My other major complaint against the mouse is the overall shape. It is simple not comfortable or natural. I prefer a more bulbous mouse, since like many of you I imagine, I end up using the back of my palm to "push" the mouse around or rest my fingers on it. The Magic doesn't lend to resting on it at all. I also need to lift it up, or scroll it farther to the side of the screen than the room I have on my mouse surface. With my Mighty Mouse I pick it up by the sides and put it back down somwhere in the center of my mouse area. I have a dual screen setup, and my coworkers all have 24" iMacs, so it can still be a lot of screen space to traverse.
My Magic Mouse was a gift, but I still feel the $70 for it was a waste. I use it primarily because the scroll ball on the Mighty gets dirty fast and does not respond, and at that I rest the Magic next to my keyboard to scroll but still use the Mighty 95% of the time. If Apple would have made the exact same Mighty Mouse but only made the center area where the ball is, a touch sensitive surface, I would be in mouse heaven (they could delineate the area with a small inscribed line or something).
    IMHO big Apple Fail.

  • Magic mouse right click problem in Mountain Lion

    Hi!
My Magic mouse right-click doesn't work in Mountain Lion! in previous OSes it was working properly (Leopard and Lion), but when I upgrated to Mountain, this problem occured.
if you click anywhere on the magic mouse, it simply do a click, not a right-click anyway...
I did a lot of searches and changes but the problem is still alive...
somewhere suggested disabling "Secondary Click", then restart, and then enabling it. but nothing changed...
somewhere suggested to remove two files named "com.apple.Bluetooth..." in /Library/Preferences, and then restart the system, but this not worked for me, too...
I changed the "Secondary Click" to "Click on the left side" but nothing changed and the magic mouse did just clicking and not right-clicking!
I wondered what can I really do to solve this problem?!
    any suggestion is appreciated...

I still use the magic-mouse and still it's not stable. I've found theONLY way to overcome the rightclick is to make sure that you're NOT pressing anywhere else on the mouse (even touching) and only pressing at theTOP right-hand most corner.
It's not the best resolution, but the best that Applecare could provide me with. I thinjk, because it's relatively new due to the new generation of capacitive touch devices that we all get the bugs/flaws.
As like the iPhone, although an EXCELLENT device, and the various versions of OSX, we're going to be plagued eith bugs until a newer review comes out.
The way I found out was to use BOTH tools (MagicPrefs and BetterTouchTool) together, and in both set the Rightclick sensitive area to a near nothing for system wide (non app specific).
It does fail at times on some apps, and takes a few clicks, but 90% of the time it's cleared up.
I somehow think that most developers (and yes its the developers not apple) that forget that we rest out palms on the mouse) and they don't filter out the events forrectly (i.e. a palm on the mouse is seen as a tap). Othere works well, for exmaple I use photoshop, which adapted well to the mouse. The majority of games, and including those (ESPECUALLY THOSE) flash mbased, don't like the mouse at all!

  • Does apple have an issue with magic mouse and adobe

does Apple have a problem with magic mouse and Adobe Photoshop/Indesign/Illustrator, scrolling uncontrollable, pages moving of their own accord etc.
If so, whats the cure and why does Apple not admit to it?
    Badgolfer4

it's rare that a mouse would perform in a different manner between different applications
I would troubleshoot with other apps to see if it was just adobe apps
and then I would troubleshoot by trying a different mouse
could be the mouse was defect

  • Magic mouse and keyboard battery level fluctuation

So, I have been using the aluminum 2-battery keyboard and mighty mouse, both about three years old, and I noticed today that the bluetooth battery indicator has been all over the place.
I've been working solidly for about two hours, and happened to check the battery levels for both when I first turned them on: Keyboard - 55%, Mouse 94%. After working for around a half hour, I got an alert that the keyboard battery was low, and it read 19%. I ignored it, and a couple minutes later it was 15%. I kept working, and checked after another half hour or so, and the battery indicator read 94% for both the keyboard and the mouse, then I shortly got a low battery alert for the keyboard, and the indicator again read 19%. I also lost connection with the keyboard two or three times during this period.
Running Mavericks on 2009 15" unibody MBP

Most users have been observing unusual battery level readings since the 10.6.7 update came out. Like you, many users are reporting that their Magic Mouse and wireless keyboard battery levels are much higher than expected and much higher than they had been previously before the 10.6.7 update. I have observed this also. It seems to be some sort of bug and may eventually be corrected with a future update. It really won't cause you a problem and there seems to be nothing that can be done about it now from the user's standpoint.

    Steve M.

  • Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard with Bootcamp and Win XP Pro 32-bit

Does the Apple Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard work with Boot Camp running Windows XP Pro (32-Bit)... I read something leading me to believe there maybe a problem and you need to use a wired USB mouse/Keyboard.
    Is this true?

Apple Wireless Keyboard is able to work in Boot Camp via Window XP Pro, it's good enough.
but the Magic Mouse, it's not able to work completely in Window XP Pro,
it's just work like a normal bluetooth wireless mouse,
all the Multi-Touch features like scroll, rotate, swipe, pinch and tap click are not gonna work,
even you are configure via the snow leopard, so please be reconsider.

  • Magic Mouse and Employing Pinch to Open and Close Feature

I have purchased a magic mouse and would like to employ the "pinch to open & close" features (option on multi-touch trackpad) with the magic mouse. This is not the same as zoom (e.g. hold control key with mouse wheel).
I have tried using bettertouchtool and magicprefs, but it appears that neither accommodates this feature easily. If there were a keyboard shortcut to employ this feature then I think I can assign it to a magic mouse gesture via BTT or Magic Prefs, but I cannot find such a keyboard shortcut.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

It could be you are approaching it incorrectly.   It can be a tricky little gadget that actually works with minimal pressure.
Try turning over the mouse so the compartment panel faces you, optical sensor topmost.  Then holding the mouse at each side but not on the panel itself, flick the small, black rectangular panel downwards.   The top of the panel should spring out, though it may require you to manipulate it fully away from the mouse.
Once you have replaced the batteries, starting at the bottom reverse the procedure then clip into place.   Remember to move the small switch next to the optical sensor upwards which should turn on the green light.   Then click twice to connect.
