Magic Mouse at MBP ok at MacPro is jumpy croppy etc.

Hi,
I used to have a Mighty Mouse which worked fine on my MacBook Pro 15" , 2008 Model. The Mighty Mouse had huge problems on my April 2009 MacPro. It is jumpy, lagging and only sometimes it acts normal.
I replaced it with a Magic Mouse - SAME PROBLEM :
MacBookPro -> OK
Mac Pro -> A MESS
The Magic Mouse is not more then 5 feet ( 1,50 Meter ) away from the Mac Pro.
The problem still appears even with Snow Leopard.
Any ideas ? Has this something to do with the signal quality of the BlueTooth Module ? When I use the MacBookPro in the same location it works.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank

  • Need to manually reconnect Magic Mouse to MBP

    I have the lil' wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse. When I take my MBP out of range, naturally they both lose connection. However when I bring the computer back in range, only the keyboard automatically reconnects. I have to go under bluetooth and click "connect" to get the MM back. Now, this isn't the end of the world but I was wondering if anyone else experiences the same thing or if maybe there is an issue here, however slight.

    Hello r:
    Try making the mouse (both devices, actually) a favorite.
    Open system preferences>bluetooth. Highlight your device. If a detailed list is not shown, click on the little gear>show more info. Then click on the gear again and make the device a favorite.
    Barry
    P.S. Frequently, clicking the mouse a few times will make it connect.

  • Magic Mouse and MBP 15" i7

    Hello,
    On two occasions now my magic mouse lost connection with blue tooth, once while operating the computer and this morning when I booted up there was no mouse connection. Anyone experience this issue? Advice and suggestions welcomed. Thanks!
    Jaco

    One thing you can try is to set the mouse as a bluetooth favorite in System Preferences > bluetooth > highlight the mouse > click the gear icon below the list > click "show more information" if not already > click the gear icon again select "add to bluetooth favorites".

    Hi,
    Sorry I can't help you. I just wanted to let you know I have the same exact problem. It started three days ago and I've been going back and forth with creative support and nothing has worked. I am beginning to grow really distressed. I feel a little better now because after seeing that it's happening with someone else, it is most likely not the player. I am running windows 98 SE as well. I also have an AMD Duron processor. I have a new computer on the way with windows XP I really hope it works. But now I have a new problem. I listed it on the front page of this forum a few minutes ago. My player froze and now only boots up in rescue mode. I am getting so frustrated with my player. If you figure anything out will you be as kind as to send me a message on how you got your player working again? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
    Nick

  • Magic Mouse not connecting to MBP after Sleep or Re-start

    This has been an on going problem for me since I upgraded to OSX 10.8 on my MBP.  Since the upgrade my Magic Mouse will no longer connect to my MBP after it has gone to sleep, restarted or shut down.  The only way I have been able to get a connection is to Click on the BT icon goto the mouse>Open  Preferances.  At this point the computer is 'Waiting for a Bluetooth mouse to be discovered' and it will keep searching forever.  Clicking on the mouse button or moving the mouse around does not do anything even though the green light on the bottom of the mouse indicates it is on & attempting communication.  I have to turn the mouse off for 3-5 seconds and then turn the mouse back on.  This is the only way for the computer to see the mouse, I then click connect the mouse connects and all is good until the computer sleeps, gets restarted or shut down.
    I have tried resetting the PRAM & SMC.  I have also deleted the mouse from bluetooth preferances and re-paired it with the computer several times.  I even tried deleting the PList and re-pairing but nothing yet has worked!
    Open to any and all suggests! PLEASE help!

    Hi,
    I have a mid 2014 15 inch MacBook Pro and I'm experiencing now the same issue. I have an iPad and an iMac and the issue is only with the MacBook Pro.
    I went to System Preferences > Network > Wi - Fi and selected 'Ask to join new networks'. It didn't remove completely the issue (is still not finding the network) but at least I don't have to turn the wifi on and off all the time because after a while is able to connect.

  • MacPro Magic Mouse jumping and crashing

    Hi

    2 MacPro 2x2.4Ghz Magic Mouse jumping and crashing.
    I tested new magic mouse problem is continue.
    I restore MacPro and install system but problem continue.
    İ search web pages same problem is alot of.
    I dont fix this problem.

    If you searched you should have found you are not alone with that MM/Mac Pro problem.  Probably the biggest thread in these forums (22 pages) is this one:
    Poor Bluetooth reception and jerky mouse
    Summary, add your own external antenna or get a USB Bluetooth dongle.
    How far are your mice from the mac pro's?  Probably more than 3 or 4 feet  from the back of the mac pro is about the limit.
    Are there any wireless devices nearby (e.g., routers).  Sometimes they cause interference.
    AirPort and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference
    You coud try smc and pram resets but it probably won't help.

  • Low RSSI with 2012 MBP and Magic Mouse

    I have a fairly new 2012 MBP and Magic Mouse. I have been struggling with a bad Bluetooth connection for several months. I swapped out for a different MM and that didn't help, did all the reset PRAM, and wiped preferences, etc. The mouse will disconnect and re-connect spontaneously several times an hour, and from time to time the mouse stutters. Holding down the option key on my Bluetooth menu item shows that I am getting an RSSI sometimes below 60 and sometimes above. Keeping the lid open on the MBP pro helps; the MM is sitting literally inches from the computer and I still have this problem.
    I am at a lose as to what to do?

    Hello Bryan Schmiedeler,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    For more information on this, take a look at:
    Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1365
    You will want to get your RSSI as close to 0 as possible.

  • Magic mouse problems with MacPro 2013

    Installed my new Mac Pro version late 2013 and all was working well. Yesterday I added two USB3 hubs and now I am having issues with my Magic Mouse. It looses its conection and is erradic in operation. Would be surprised if it was the hubs but I suppose I should disconect them and find out. Thought the new MacPro would have a better antena on the Bluetooth. Mouse has 60% power. What items will interfere with bluetooth. I am also using Parallels with Windows 7 running.

    I suspect it is the hubs. Bluetooth on a Mac uses USB ports.
    If you look at "about this Mac>system reports>USB" you will see what I mean.

  • Magic mouse performance differs from macbook pro to macpro

    My magic mouse works beautifully on my macbook pro 2.2 GHz and it works horribly on my mac pro 3.0 GHz tower, why? While using the mouse on my macpro it's slow, it's not very responsive, it's quirky. On the macbook pro it's perfect.

    You know my issue is similar but with the same computer a early 2009 Mac Mini. Sometimes when I boot into OS X Snow Leopard my Magic mouse tracks fine just at the right speed. But sometimes I boot into OS X and its slow to track and I have to max out tracking speed.

    This sounds like a hardware issue. I haven't seen this particular problem reported before.

  • Magic mouse lag on brand new MBP

    Hello,
    I received my MBP 15" (Mid 2012) several days ago. But my Magic Mouse doesn't work very well with it. The cursor lags every several minutes to one hour or two, and lasts for several seconds to several minutes every time. I don't mean that the movement is slow - when it happens, the cursor doesn't follow the movement of the mouse very well, it seems 'jittery'. The cursor may "jump" to the destination 0.3~1 second after I moving the mouse. I tried everything I can do but the problem is still not solved. Here are what I've tried:
    * Setting my router to 5ghz band
    * Turn the mouse off and on.
    * Turn the mouse off, replace the batteries to new ones, and turn on.
    * Restart the computer.
    * Remove the mouse from the list of Bluetooth devices, and pair again.
    * Reset PRAM and SMC.
    * Disable WIFI.
    * Unplug everything in my room that has a wireless receiver, including Xbox, Apple TV, etc, and remove the batteries of their controllers.
    None of the above works! However, I also have a Magic Trackpad which also uses Bluetooth but it works fine. I tested the Magic Mouse on my old MacBook Pro and it works without any problem. The distance between the mouse and the laptop is less than 2ft.
    Mouse still works fine on my old 2010 MBP.
    Brand new MBP 15", 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM.

    I had the same problem with my new Retina Macbook Pro and my Magic Mouse that worked fine on my previous 2010 Macbook Pro.  At work I don't have a wifi network so I share my ethernet connection via wifi so I can get internet on my iPhone and iPad during the day.  After reading this thread I tried turning off the internet sharing and it has cleared up all lag issues with the mouse.
    Just thought I'd share my fix.  Hopefully Apple can clear up whatever issues are causing this so I can get wifi back to my devices at work.

  • MBP won't see my Magic mouse

    Hi, I have a 13" MBP running LION and I'm trying to pair a Magic Mouse with it. In the Bluetooth window, the "Discoverable" box is grayed out so I' am unable to connect my mouse... I've tried to activate the Discoverable button with no success. It just won't even see  the mouse ...The mouse I bought from a friend and it was previously paired with that computer. Battereis are good and it's turned on...Any suggestions to get this mouse to be discovered ? THANKS

    Still valid.
    Mac HD>Library>Preferences...drag these two files to your desktop:
    com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile
    Delete them from preferences, turn Bluetooth off, reboot your computer. Turn Bluetooth back on, try again. If everything works, delete the two files from your desktop.

  • Magic Mouse MBP Mid 2011

    Hello everyone
    I have a question and it may seem silly or trival. When I use my magic mouse on certain sites, specifically MacWorld and scroll the blue fonts change to lighter shade of blue, almost a bluish green color, but is fine when I stop scrolling. Is this normal? Is there any way to make the mouse sroll do that it doesn't do this?
    I know you can set it to natural scroll.
    Regards,
    MacJoseph

    Dave
    Yes, I knoow how to zoom out. Thanks. I didn't quite realize how sensitive zooming in is. I am not even touching the surface of the magic mouse just moving it forward, and that's when it zooms. It does not do this consistently.
    Dave thanks so much for you help, and reply. It has provdied with insight about how sensitive is it with Safari.
    Thanks!
