Magic mouse batteries drops fast, help!

is there anyway to solve this problem? in the mac store they told me that the batteries may last about 2 or 3 months aprox. but i think that's not true, put new ones and in less than a month they are dead.  i tried 4 brands and still the same thing.
help please!

Depends completely on the quality of the batteries!  Did you notice that the magic mouse came with Energizer Lithium batteries in the box?  As an aside, the inclusion of high-quality batteries is typical Apple attention to detail that almost no other tech. company yet understands the importance of (no, I'm not an Apple employee -- just a fan of quality over quantity).
In my job I support hundreds of Mac and PC users with lots of different wireless mice (including several of my own).  I even have a new Apple Magic Mouse at home.  The simple answer is that if you use cheap batteries (Alkaline or rechargables), they will last only a few weeks.  In my personal experience most name-brand alkaline batteries last a month or more in bluetooth mice.  Quality lithium batteries however last much longer.  I just replaced (for the first time) the original batteries in my home Magic Mouse after about 2.5 months of 2-6 hours use per day!!!  And, I have yet to replace the batteries in my Apple bluetooth keyboard that came with the same iMac that the Magic Mouse was included with!
So, I'd recommend checking out something like Consumer Reports to find good info on cost/performance of name-brand batteries and go with their suggestions for best brand/model of battery for electronics use.

  • Magic Mouse constantly dropping

I bought a Magic Mouse half a year ago. It worked okay, not fine, but okay, but every time I use it now with my MacBook Pro, it's constantly dropping the connection. And I mean constantly, like every five or ten seconds. And it doesn't automatically reconnect, I have to go to Bluetooth -> Apple wireless mouse -> connect each and every time. And I have tried changing the batteries at least a dozen times. Can anyone help?
    Cheers :)

    Hello:
    Try  a couple of things:
    1.     Reset the SMC and PRAM
    2.     Make the device a "favorite."

  • Magic Mouse battery draining faster by the mins, and it's Lithium Battery

I recently installed a lithium battery on my Magic Mouse, since I heard from others that Lithium battery lasts lot longer.... (about six months, I heard...)
This was almost three weeks ago....
Fast forward, and now my batter is draining at 20%, and this started to happen within last 24 hours....
I have no other bluetooth peripherals attached...
Help! I feel like I just wasted $7 on more expensive battery that last the same as Alkaline.....

Same problem here. Batteries last about 10 days. Checked each with a digital multimeter. One battery was drained, the other was perfect.
I replaced the dead battery and marked the other one I left in. One week later, the new battery was dead. The marked battery was fine. The mouse is defective, it is only using the power on one side. Time for a return to the Apple Store. I hope it will be a quick swap.

  • Magic Mouse batteries last only a day.

My Magic Mouse (with 2013 iMac) used a pair of Energiser Ultimate Lithium L91 3000 mAh batteries every six weeks. So I changed to Energiser Recharge 2400 mAh. They are the best rechargeable batteries available, but I now have to recharge them every day, but the same batteries in the keyboard last over a month between charges. Can this be correct?

Magic Mouse is really, REALLY terrible on batteries.
You are better off with using high end, high priced, non-rechargable batteries that are specifically design for high drain electronic devices.
Remember to turn the Magic Mouse off when not using it for prolonged periods of time.
    The batteries may last longer.
Look into one of these. This may help you with getting better battery life.

I really loathe the Apple Magic Mouse. I had one.It worked erratically, it was terrible with all but very expensive higher end lithium batteries and, generally problematic with Bluetooth pairing.
I returned mine within the 14 day return policy.
It looked great, but never worked great for me.
Look into the much better Apple Trackpad, instead OR purchase and use thisTrackpad from Logitech.
This is my new, favorite input device and works well on Macs and OS X as long as you install Logitech special trackpad software.

  • Magic Mouse Batteries drain in 2 days

    Hello folks,
I own a Mid 2011 iMac since Feb 2012. The Magic Mouse that comes shipped with it never gave me problems until up to a few weeks ago, where it drains my batteries literally in one or two days! At first I thought it was some faulty batteries, but now I already had about 6 replacements hoping it will be okay. Yesterday I bought new batteries, and today the level is at 38% - how do I troubleshoot it?
(I do not use rechargeable batteries. Lithium and Alkaline only)

Magic Mice can die.  Mine, from the same iMac model as yours just went belly up a couple months ago. It as also using up batteries pretty quick but not as fast as yours.  Even the Genius Bar veterinarian couldn't revive it. As Forrest Gump once said:  "It happens".
The replacement with regular batteries is getting about 13 weeks between batteries at about 8 hrs per day (turn it off at night).
Just give it a decent burial.

  • Magic Mouse batteries

    Hey guys.
Sorry if this has been posted multiple times but haven't found an answer yet.
Magic Mouse has been working perfect, until the batteries it came with died, and since then replacing them the mouse always disconnects on small shakes or fast movements... I've noticed it the batteries fail to touch the upper metal +ve side and loses connection easy.
If anyone has found a solution to this let me know.. I've tried multiple batteries but none have worked miracles liked the ones that came with the mouse.
    Thanks in advance.

Found a solution, I just put flexible glue (known as Blu-tac here in NZ) at the bottom to push the battery towards the top a bit more, leaving small shakes and fast movements uneffected.
    Thanks for you reply!

  • TS3048 magic mouse keeps dropping out

The mouse keeps droping out of teh 2004 imac and teh 2007 mac book pro.  will re-establish with trouble.  works for a bit and drops out or disconnects again.  logitech cheapy works perfectly.  no trouble with the key pad at the moment.  batteries new and at 100%  any ideas or is it dead after two years?

After a period of enforced rest such as you describe it is likely that any soiling that was present at the point of packing it away, would have set more rigidly.   Your Mouse needs a thorough clean, Inside battery compartment, the contacts, battery terminals, sensor, mouse pad, the lot.    This document gives other hints and tips too.    Pay particular attention to any environmental changes like repositioning of electronic items.   Preferably insert new, good quality batteries.
The replacement cost for a Magic mouse is around £50 ($69, I believe).

  • Magic Mouse Regular Drop Out

My mouse is dropping off bluetooth regularly.
I've timed it to a 13 second dropout then on for 60 seconds, repeated ad-nauseaum.
It is NOT loose batteries and I have just cleaned the contacts, it drops out when it's not being touched.
    *** is going on?

I purchased a magic mouse in January 2015 and it worked fine until I replaced the batteries and then it began dropping out.
The mouse was shipped with Duracell batteries and I replaced them with Eveready Super Heavy Duty batteries. My problem with dropping out began almost immediately. The shortcoming with the magic mouse is that the either the spring tension on the battery contacts isn't strong enough or their length of travel is limited so movement or jarring of the mouse can cause drop out.
The issue is that an AA battery isn't an AA battery isn't an AA battery. I measured a Duracell AA battery as having a length of 50.65mm and the Eveready battery that I replaced it with having a length of 49.65mm, one whole millimetre shorter. On reverting back to using Duracell batteries my dropout problem has disappeared. Simple!

  • Changing Magic Mouse Batteries Once A Week

I've been changing batteries for the magic mouse every week. The batteries cost 20 dollars for 2 pairs. Is this normal? I like the mouse but it seems more like a bill to me.

Rechargeables do not last as long as Lithium batteries - voltage difference, I think.
The difference is because of the chemistry of the battery is different -- most rechargeable batteries use chemistries that can't store close to as much electrical energy (watt-hours) per unit of volume as conventional battery chemistries like alkaline or lithium. IOW, their energy density is lower.
But there is more to it than that. Different chemistries are designed for different discharge rates: some are designed to supply large amounts of their total energy at a time & some aren't. A battery designed to deliver a small amount of power for a long time (like a standard alkaline-manganese one) won't deliver as much total energy if used in an application that demands a lot of power than if used in one that doesn't.
Most rechargeable batteries do well delivering higher power, so even though they pack less energy into their cases, they may last longer in higher power applications. Since BT uses relatively large amounts of power when transmitting, you might actually get more life per charge out of a rechargeable than out of a standard alkaline battery if you use the mouse a lot.

  • IMac G5 iSight and the new Magic Mouse - WiFi dropping out.

The G5 with iSight seems to be unique amongst Apple computers, in that it shares the WiFi with the Bluetooth on a single compound card. I have not tested this out completely but it certainly seems to be the case that the Magic Mouse when left, having finished a session on the iMac, will after a few hours 'power down'. When it does so, sharing the WiFi, it will disable the wireless communication. I can find no known settings to avoid this from happening.
If I had dropped my iMac into sleep mode and woken it with a click of the mouse, all would be fine, however with my G5 downloading a file in the background, to come back and find the wireless has 'dropped out' is disconcerting to say the least.
Usually the WiFi can be re-established by turning it off and on again, then re finding my router (a TC in the other room) and all is well again for another 'period of time', which I can only guesstimate to be a couple of hours. However occasionally I will have to 'Restart' the iMac to get back to a working system. This is something I only ever really have to do with my work PC; I have NEVER had to do this on the iMac before. This is a quaint but annoying Windows thing and should not occur on a Mac. (This last phrase is slightly tongue in cheek!).
The WiFi link to my work PC via the TC is never compromised, which pointed the finger to the new magic mouse. I run the last version of Leopard for the PPC processors, 10.5.8 and have loaded the magic mouse driver software.
Has anyone else seen this happen?
Has anyone else got a solution, other than not using the Magic Mouse?

I did not see resetting PRAM mentioned yet, so if not done already, do that
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
plus this procedure to reset SMU (power management)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1767
Be sure to follow it precisely. When you reconnect the power cord, if you are using a crowded or old power strip, connect it directly to a wall outlet for this test. Power it up with nothing connected except power cord and once it starts up, connect only your keyboard/mouse (no other USB/FireWire peripherals). Try using it that way to see if the problem still recurs.
The only other suggestion I have is, if you have a external FireWire drive that you can erase (or create a small partition on), install a fresh Leopard installation on it. Start up from it and see if this problem still recurs.
Alternately, back up your data, erase (re-partition and reformat) the interal drive, and reinstall Leopard on the internal drive, then give it a try. If you clone (using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper) to an external FireWire drive as your backup, you can still boot from your current installation (on the external drive). If the fresh installation test does NOT work, you can clone your clone back to the internal drive. If it does work with a fresh installation, you can keep using it and transfer just your user data back from the clone.

  • Changing Magic Mouse batteries difficult

I use Eneloops for batteries in my Magic Mouse, which is just a few months old.
When the Enelopps are getting low on charge, I have difficulty getting the bottom cover off of the battery compartment.
Is there a how-to video anywhere on how to easily remove that cover? I tried using my pocket knife to open it, but it is way too difficult.
This happens seldom enough that I have to re-learn how to do it every time the batteries need re-charging. Switching to non-rechargeables doesn't seem to be an answer, since I would then be opening the cover even less often.
Any suggestions on how to get this cover off easily?

I believe I found the answer to my question on YouTube. I wish I had known about this video when I bought my iMac. Thanks to Dan's How To Videos.

  • Magic mouse loses connection with iMac

My brand new imac came with magic mouse. I immediately updated to mountain lion. Magic mouse occasionally drops connection and then reconnects after some time. During the time of disconnection I am unable to do any thing. Please tell me what to do.

Sound like my issue with the magic mouse. I notice the indicater green light was off when i lost lost my connection. Once I reinstalled the batteries the light would glow and my connection was temportarly restored. After losing my connection again; I reseated the batteries but I added a small cushion of folded paper. I made sure my cushion wasn't too thick so to allow for the battery cover. After my small mofication my mouse has not lost connection for over several weeks.

  • Pairing Magic Mouse

I've just got a lovely new Magic which I can't wait to use... but Bluetooth Setup Assistant which I'm told I need to pair my mac and mouse is missing from the Utilities Folder. I've searched my Mac and it's nowhere to be found. The only Bluetooth software I have in the Utilities Folder is File Exchange. Does anyone know where I can find the Setup Assistant to download or of and alternative, or if in fact I need this at all and could maybe use File Exchange to pair my Magic Mouse.... help
    Many thanks

I received one also. All updates installed..... bluetooth ready. It discovers the mouse....goes to use an 'empty passkey'... then suddenly the pairing fails. After 8 tries & reboots I'm more then a little frustrated.
