Magic Mouse batteries last only a day.

My Magic Mouse (with 2013 iMac) used a pair of Energiser Ultimate Lithium L91 3000 mAh batteries every six weeks. So I changed to Energiser Recharge 2400 mAh. They are the best rechargeable batteries available, but I now have to recharge them every day, but the same batteries in the keyboard last over a month between charges. Can this be correct?

Magic Mouse is really, REALLY terrible on batteries.
You are better off with using high end, high priced, non-rechargable batteries that are specifically design for high drain electronic devices.
Remember to turn the Magic Mouse off when not using it for prolonged periods of time.
The batteries may last longer.

I really loathe the Apple Magic Mouse. I had one.It worked erratically, it was terrible with all but very expensive higher end lithium batteries and, generally problematic with Bluetooth pairing.
I returned mine within the 14 day return policy.
It looked great, but never worked great for me.
Look into the much better Apple Trackpad, instead OR purchase and use thisTrackpad from Logitech.
This is my new, favorite input device and works well on Macs and OS X as long as you install Logitech special trackpad software.

Magic Mouse Batteries drain in 2 days

Hello folks,
I own a Mid 2011 iMac since Feb 2012. The Magic Mouse that comes shipped with it never gave me problems until up to a few weeks ago, where it drains my batteries literally in one or two days! At first I thought it was some faulty batteries, but now I already had about 6 replacements hoping it will be okay. Yesterday I bought new batteries, and today the level is at 38% - how do I troubleshoot it?
(I do not use rechargeable batteries. Lithium and Alkaline only)

Magic Mice can die. Mine, from the same iMac model as yours just went belly up a couple months ago. It as also using up batteries pretty quick but not as fast as yours. Even the Genius Bar veterinarian couldn't revive it. As Forrest Gump once said: "It happens".
The replacement with regular batteries is getting about 13 weeks between batteries at about 8 hrs per day (turn it off at night).
Just give it a decent burial.

How old is the Mouse. When did you last change the batteries. Are they rechargeable or regular.
Here are some notes I have made about batteries.
Batteries. Here are a few notes I've put together. Whether you use regular or rechargeable batteries you should buy the best. Discounted or unbranded batteries are more likely to give a depleted performance and may be of irregular size, often leading to connection problems. Apple’s own brand, Eneloop and Energiser appear to be the best.
Rechargeable batteries for the standard Magic mouse are unlikely to exceed eighteen days before needing a recharge although the mouse itself can be a limiting factor. I have seen reports that some Logitech mice vastly exceed this. Apple may suggest more in their sales blurb but this is a realistic expectation. The benefit (if you are organised) is that you can always have charged batteries available. Regular batteries will give you between 25 and 35 days before they need to be replaced.
Note. Never mix old and new batteries or rechargeable and regular. The notes above are based on my personal experience, not shutting down my machine and using it for around four hours per day. Note. Monitors do not always faithfully report battery strength, particularly the rechargeable ones.
When checking your mouse or keyboard batteries ... Turn off the device. Remove the batteries, Clean the terminals both inside the battery compartment and the batteries themselves. Replace or renew both batteries. Turn on the device. You should get a blinking green light if the device is paired. Click the mouse to activate it. The green light becomes steady.

I've been using the Apple rechargables in my keyboards/mice/trackpads for over a year now. They last 3-4 weeks in my usage pattern but I have spares ready to go when they get weak.

is there anyway to solve this problem? in the mac store they told me that the batteries may last about 2 or 3 months aprox. but i think that's not true, put new ones and in less than a month they are dead. i tried 4 brands and still the same thing.

Depends completely on the quality of the batteries! Did you notice that the magic mouse came with Energizer Lithium batteries in the box? As an aside, the inclusion of high-quality batteries is typical Apple attention to detail that almost no other tech. company yet understands the importance of (no, I'm not an Apple employee -- just a fan of quality over quantity).
In my job I support hundreds of Mac and PC users with lots of different wireless mice (including several of my own). I even have a new Apple Magic Mouse at home. The simple answer is that if you use cheap batteries (Alkaline or rechargables), they will last only a few weeks. In my personal experience most name-brand alkaline batteries last a month or more in bluetooth mice. Quality lithium batteries however last much longer. I just replaced (for the first time) the original batteries in my home Magic Mouse after about 2.5 months of 2-6 hours use per day!!! And, I have yet to replace the batteries in my Apple bluetooth keyboard that came with the same iMac that the Magic Mouse was included with!
So, I'd recommend checking out something like Consumer Reports to find good info on cost/performance of name-brand batteries and go with their suggestions for best brand/model of battery for electronics use.

Changing Magic Mouse Batteries Once A Week

I've been changing batteries for the magic mouse every week. The batteries cost 20 dollars for 2 pairs. Is this normal? I like the mouse but it seems more like a bill to me.

Magic Mouse is acting worse every day

I got my new Magic Mouse a few weeks ago and it's been working great - for the first few days.
Now, it keeps getting worse and worse. The mouse sticks when I'm pointing at random, slows down for no apparent reason then speeds up, disconnects and reconnects every half hour, and overall is just becoming more and more useless.
This problem doesn't happen when I'm using a 2nd monitor. When I plug it in, the mouse becomes virtually unusable. Absolutely ridiculous. Is there a fix for this?

It might be one of the software that you might be using.
If you are using the so called "enhancement" software, like BetterTouchTools, it might interfere with some of the basic functions with Apple's built in pointer controls.
Also, could battery be issue. Some are reporting that Magic Mouse they bought are defective, since only one side of the battery works, (All Apple mouses are capable of running with just one battery, in order to save weight) I am having similar issues, and need to get my mouse replaced, but since I am 70 miles away from my nearest Apple Store (and living in college dorm, I have no time to get on my car, and drive 70 miles to my nearest store), the temporary solution is to get a mouse pad, and remember to shut off the mouse completely before calling it a night.
Finally, bluetooth? If you are using a Apple Bluetooth keyboard, there's a problem magic mouse draining the battery on keyboard fast, or keyboard draining the magic mouse battery fast. There's a software update that is supposedly fixes this issue.

Magic Mouse batteries

Hey guys.
Sorry if this has been posted multiple times but haven't found an answer yet.
Magic Mouse has been working perfect, until the batteries it came with died, and since then replacing them the mouse always disconnects on small shakes or fast movements... I've noticed it the batteries fail to touch the upper metal +ve side and loses connection easy.
If anyone has found a solution to this let me know.. I've tried multiple batteries but none have worked miracles liked the ones that came with the mouse.

Found a solution, I just put flexible glue (known as Blu-tac here in NZ) at the bottom to push the battery towards the top a bit more, leaving small shakes and fast movements uneffected.

Changing Magic Mouse batteries difficult

I use Eneloops for batteries in my Magic Mouse, which is just a few months old.
When the Enelopps are getting low on charge, I have difficulty getting the bottom cover off of the battery compartment.
Is there a how-to video anywhere on how to easily remove that cover? I tried using my pocket knife to open it, but it is way too difficult.
This happens seldom enough that I have to re-learn how to do it every time the batteries need re-charging. Switching to non-rechargeables doesn't seem to be an answer, since I would then be opening the cover even less often.
Any suggestions on how to get this cover off easily?

I believe I found the answer to my question on YouTube. I wish I had known about this video when I bought my iMac. Thanks to Dan's How To Videos.

Magic Mouse works properly only on one user Account

I just bought a Magic Mouse to use with my PPC Imac. I have two users set up on this iMac and I set up the mouse while using one of those user accounts. By the way I set it up to be a left-handed mouse with the left button being for the secondary (right) click. I got the mouse installed and it wasn't working very smoothly. Then I discovered that I needed to update the software to the Magic Mouse Update 1.0. That seemed to get it working as fine as it could on this old machine and I was quite happy with it. However, yesterday I switched to the other user account and the Magic Mouse was acting completely weird. When I clicked on anything it was like a right click with menus popping up. In addition, it wouldn't single click at all. I checked in System Preferences that it was set up the same way as on the other account and it was. I then tried to switch it back to be a normal right-handed mouse. That gave me some functioning but it was very inconsistent and frustrating. If it wasn't for the "old" wireless mouse that I had there were moments when I would have been completely stuck.
Given that it worked fine on the one user account this doesn't seem like a hardward problem to me. I also installed it on my husband's MacBook Pro running Lion and it works okay in both user accounts. However, some of the special functions, like Smart Zoom and Mission Control don't seem to be functioning.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you ever get this resolved. Same thing. In my admin user account it works but in the one I use most I can't swipe scroll or anything?

Motherboard lasted only 21 days after warranty, ONE YEAR.

We purchased our HP 1150us g7 a year ago. Our warranty ran out 21 days ago. Now our Dual USB ports no longer show up on the Device Manager so we can install new drivers or uninstall and reinstall them, THEY ARE NOT THERE.
I contacted HP and our warranty ran out 21 days ago, we have NO WARRANTY OR WILL GET NO HELP. Our Motherboard and USB issues are related and would cost at least $400. at the very least to repair.
We paid nearly $600. for our HP notebook NEW ONE YEAR AGO. We thought it would last us a few years, we are seniors and money in this economy is in short supply.
Since we can not tell our friends how wonderfully HP helped us with a year old HP $600.00 Notebook we will have to tell them HP DID NOTHING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT.
I am sure it will change some folks minds about dealing with HP. In fact I know it will make a difference to our friends and family.

Yes the motherboard needs to be repaired or replaced but the prices you are being quoted are way high. The places I linked will fix the motherboard. I can replace a motherboard but just do not have the equipment to do the component level repairs. I am not offering to do it I can just tell you I am fully aware of what the parts and labor cost. The motherboard can be replaced for around $250 parts and labor. It can be repaired for much less. Once repaired the motherboard is as good as new. But no one can guarantee how long any electronics will last. Good luck to you.

Encrytion enabled connection lasts only one day

Recently enabled encryption for airport extreme base station with 128 bit WEP. My daughter's Windows XP laptop worked fine with the entering password change for one day. The next day, she gets the message that her computer is not recognized by the network - "has not been assigned a network address" - or something like that. We removed the password protection and it works fine again. Thanks.

I bought my new 21" iMac back in October and today got a message from Magic Mouse that batteries need to be replaced.
What kind of battery life other folks are getting from MM? Is there anything can be done to increase battery life of MM?

Magic mouse doesn't work with new batteries

my magic mouse green led light won't turn on after putting in new batteries. I've changed the batteries a few times with no problems, but now it won't work. Can my mouse be defective/broken only after a few months??

I have exactly the same issue. Whenever I replace the batteries in my magic mouse I have a few days of constant disconnections. At first it's very annoying and the mouse disconnects every 3 minutes or so. It reconnects automatically in about 15 seconds but it's a huge pain. After a couple of days the connection seems to smooth out and become very stable. My guess is that it is something to do with the actual BlueTooth radio and that the signal strength might actually be too high at first. One note is that I have a magic mouse that I use with an iMac and that never seems to have the trouble, but the mouse that I've used with my laptops has always had this problem even with a couple of different laptops. It might be the mouse, but it also could be that when I'm using my laptops the mouse is only a few inches from the computer, but on the desktop the mouse is probably 2 feet from the computer.
Seems like it's a radio issue to me.

How to Sleep an IMac using the Magic Mouse

I received a Magic Mouse as a Christmas present. It works really nice but I
must be doing something wrong as it is battery hog. It is just the middle
of January (less than a month of use) and the 2nd set of batteries are now
down to 40%. I noticed it starts getting a little flakey at 30% so I may have
to replace the 2nd set soon. Yes they were good when installed as it read
100%.
I have not figured out how to Sleep the iMac and turn off the bluetooth
Magic Mouse. If I put the iMac to sleep with the Mouse, it wakes when I
slide the Magic Mouse power switch to OFF. I must be doing something
wrong.
Again, I like the Magic Mouse but really likes it suck down batteries.

Same problem here. Batteries last about 10 days. Checked each with a digital multimeter. One battery was drained, the other was perfect.
I replaced the dead battery and marked the other one I left in. One week later, the new battery was dead. The marked battery was fine. The mouse is defective, it is only using the power on one side. Time for a return to the Apple Store. I hope it will be a quick swap.
