  • Magic Mouse click not working

I have a magic mouse, with a MBP and 10.6.1 and the wireless mouse update installed.
The mouse more or less works if "Secondary click" is checked. If I uncheck it, clicking does nothing. The mouse moves and scrolling works, but clicking has no effect.
Also with "Secondary click" checked, if any part of my hand is touching the top surface of the mouse, I get a right-click when I click - makes the grip kind of awkward.
    Tried re-installing the software update.
    Any ideas? Thx.

Not sure why it worked this time, but I deleted
    com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist
from the User preference folder again, and now the mouse is behaving as normal. I did not touch the .globalpreferences file.
I did clean all the system/user caches (using Cache Out X), and then deleted this file again, but now the behavior seems correct
    - with Secondary Click deslected, the surface acts as one big single click button
    - with Secondary Click selected, it acts as a two button mouse
    - in Secondary Click mode, resting your second finger on the contexual side surface while clicking on the single click side surface does not interfere with the single click as it had before
    - in Secondary click mode, you need to lift your finger off the single click side when clicking the contextual button side, or it will not register as a contexual click. I presume this is expected behavior, as it is physically a one-button mouse, and Apple opted for a two-finger click to be interpreted as the more common single click request.
    Hope this helps some

  • Magic mouse click problem.

    Hi all,
Couldnt find any solution yet for my problem.
It is always either not click or in click(can see the dragging box).
No problem with connecting & tracking.
    I'm using iMac

    Hi decavalera,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you are having an issue with the clicking on your Magic Mouse, please follow the troubleshooting steps in the attached article.

Mouse buttons do not work as expected.
The Mouse preference pane allows users to customize the mouse features to meet their needs.
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Mouse from the View menu. Set the Tracking slider to adjust how fast the pointer moves as you move the mouse.
Try using a different surface to see if the tracking improves.
Turn the mouse over and inspect the sensor window. Use compressed air to gently clean the sensor window if dust or debris is present.
If multiple Bluetooth wireless devices are in use nearby, try turning them off one at a time to see if the issue improves. Bandwidth intensive devices could affect tracking.
    Have a great day,

  • Magic mouse clicks unresponsive after 10.9.1 upgrade

Hi Everyone, I have just updated my Mac to 10.9.1 this morning and since the update, I am having issues with Apple's Magic Mouse. Everything seems to work fine but clicking is very unresponsive and I now have to click 5 - 6 times before a "left or right" mouse click is actioned.
I am using a Mac Pro
    2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 6 GB of Ram
    Anyone else experienced this issue?
I have used fresh batteries and reconnected the mouse but still have the same issue.
    Would appreciate any help.

Try the following, after I reinstalled Mavericks (did not help), I stumbled upon this:
    System Preferences>Accessibility>Trackpad and Mouse>Trackpad Options>
Uncheck "Enable Dragging" [without Drag lock]
This was checked by default on my Macbook Pro 13" 2011.
    Good luck

  • Magic Mouse Clicking Problems

Hello, I've just noticed that the far right side of my Magic Mouse stopped to trigger a proper click, thus I cant really make right clicks any more, only if I press it down quite strongly. My Magic Mouse is now a few months old and I've actually never experienced any problems before.
I could imagine that dust and dirt accumulated in this small slit that goes around the mouse prevents the click. Is there any way to open the Magic Mouse in order to clean it?

I got exactly the same problem, but the folded paper solution did not work.
    ¿Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your time

  • Magic mouse clicking sound

I just purchased a new iMac 5K with the Magic Mouse. Every time I click on the mouse I hear a clicking noise. How do  eliminate this? I have an older Magic Mouse and it does not make any sound when I click on it.

It certainly is.. I notice that when clicking the left side, it has one distinct "tick" sound but the left has 2 crunchy/clucking sounds. Hard to explain but it doesn't sound right.. I just want to know from anyone else if this is the norm..
    Thx..

  • Magic mouse clicking noise

I bought the new magic mouse and it works well as described. But only one thing I can't tolerate--- the clicking noise. I know most mice have clicking noise but for the brand of apple, I suppose they can do something above average.
Do you know there is a way to diminish the clicking sounds? Why don't they use the technology like trackpad, which there is no sound when clicking and so sensitive. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

I find a relatively easy way to diminish the clicking sounds of magic mouse --- free. Use a soft surface item rather than the mouse pad, for example, like a stack of relatively soft paper (you need a lot paper). If you can find a hand washcloth (fold it into a rectangle shape), the mouse is like added a silencer. And it also move precisely. I suppose the sound is coming out from the base and hope this silly way can help someone has the same feeling as me.
Because this clicking sound drives me crazy, I think I have to find a way to kill this sound before I freak out. I think its a little louder than the old mighty one. Now it's all set. I hope one day maybe another smarter way to achieve it. Or someone can create a mousepad with relatively soft surface.

  • Magic Mouse "click and hold" letting go?

When I try to hold down a click, this includes drawing in Photoshop, the mouse suddenly gives up and "lets go," even though my hand is still holding the button down without releasing. In Photoshop this results in a visually unbroken stroke which is seen by the application as two (or more) strokes (taking multiple undo's, for example).
Similarly, when holding the button down over a window's close button, the close command is sent after a few seconds, again even though my hand is still not releasing the button.
With older mice, the click command isn't sent until one releases the button.
Anyone have any idea if this is normal behavior for this mouse, or if there's a way to adjust it?

My update is that it appears NOT to be happening any more, and I'm not sure why, or what changed. I'd sort of gotten used to it, but as I write this, I can't get it to recur.
Thanks for the suggestion. When it was happening, there was no difference in behavior whether the mouse is held down in "clicked" position with a lot of force versus a "normal" amount of force. I believe it's a software issue. I tested the same mouse with different machines running Snow Leopard, and I have yet to replicate the behavior on them. I think it had something to do with my machine (Mac Pro) running Leopard, using a mouse that was designed, I believe, with Snow Leopard in mind. I'm still using Leopard, but at the moment it's not misbehaving.
I'm surprised I couldn't find anyone else having the same issue (aside from Michael Spryn above), after some extensive Google searches.
Weird annoyance, but seemingly gone for now.

  • Magic Mouse not not able to open folders or files

Magic Mouse not able to open folders or files on desk top. I can drag folders around but not able to open either with a double or single click of the mouse.
Tried an older BT mouse with same effect.
    Command O works fine.

    Hey there kwilli2,
It sounds like your mouse left click is not functioning correctly. I have a couple of things to recommend and see what might be happening. First check in the Universal Access preferences pane to see if either, the double click speed is set to high.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Universal Access.
Click the Mouse & Trackpad tab.
For Magic Mouse, click Mouse Options to show these slider controls:
Adjust the sliders to your preference for double-click and scrolling speeds.
From: Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse: How to adjust double-click and scrolling speed in Lion

If lowering the double click speed does not resolve the issue, I would next try these troubleshooting steps in this article named:

    Hello
Simple problem - don,t know how to solve it.
With Premiere CC when I try to do a selection (click... drag... release the click) very often it stop way before the end of the move I'm swinging the Magic Mouse. I taught that the mouse clicking was defective and went to get a new Magic Mouse after lots of frustration. Today, I have an edit to do it it does the SAME thing !!
    I was like ????#$%?&*(???
Opened all the lights and taught I've trow the new mouse to the garbage and was using the defective mouse again... no !! - ??
Actually, the bran new mouse is doing the same thing. What I understand after investigating on the motion and watching carefully my fingers !! -  is that when I click I have to keep my finger at the EXACT same place on the mouse... drag and release and it's fine. If I click by pushing on the mouse and my finder is moving of a 1/32th of a millimeter, it will release and my selection will be to redo. You can understand my frustration ! - 75$ later... same problem, but I know that if I click with about 5 pounds of pressure and trying to pass my finger through the plastic of the mouse, it you stay steady and make it !
The problem is that scrolling is enable while clicking and it bugs.
    How to disable it ??
Simple question - can't find the answer !

    Helllooo !?
sorry but the Magic Mouse is just useless with the new Adobe Premiere CC and since I'm not the only one but can't find answer this is really disappointing. This mouse is just fantastic and now I have to swap from a USB mouse to the Magic Mouse every times I do some editing. My USB mouse if hurting my hand somehow and I want to got back to the Magic Mouse asap. Please - for sure there is a simple solution !
    Thanks !!

Estes atalhos realmente aumentam a produtividade do trabalho no software: zoom, orbit, pan, etc...

  • Dont work the left click of magic mouse

    hi
when i want open a folder or a file the button left of the magic mouse don't work. the rare thing i can close programs or click on a link.
    please help me

Take a look in system preferences > mouse and see if your mouse buttons are enabled.

  • I use an iMac (27" 3.4) and have problems with the Magic Mouse. It does not use contact, but opens useless and unrelated submenus with every click, even on the empty desktop. I can't shift, open or close pages. Has anyone out there the same problem?

I use an iMac 27" (mid 2011). Until recently I had OSX 10.6.8 installed, but both, the HDD and SSD had to be replaced, and I lost all the memory.
After the repair through Apple Care I had OSX 10.7.5. (Lion) installed, which developed a Magic Mouse problem.
Unlike with most users, I have no problems with connection, but grapple with a different kind of erratic behaviour.
All fancy stuff is turned off in the mouse preferences. When I try to move, open or close pages, unrelated submenus pop up and hinder the
required task. No matter how often I click, these menus stay there, and they even come up when clicking on the bare desktop.
It renders the mouse absolutely useless, as no work can be done with it.
The first 'Magic Mouse' had depleted batteries every few days, despite switching it off after use.
I was supplied a new Mouse, which does better battery-wise, but the problems are the same. I can't get a result by clicking on any link, due to
the pop-up menus, so both 'Magic Mice' are totally useless.
At present I am using the old USB mouse from my Mac Pro, and that works still o.k.
The problem are not the mice, but the software. The first 2 weeks after installation of OSX 10.7.5 the Magic Mouse worked though.
I have no idea as to what the reason may be.
Has anyone in the community ever experienced that particular problem. Any hint would be welcomed.
    Thank you!

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
    Thanks for the advice, Bee
    Cheers, Gerd
