Magic Mouse Connecting To Wrong Computer

I have both an iMac and a MacBook. I purchased a Magic Mouse in the intent of using it with my iMac.
At one stage, I was doing some heavy duty work on my MacBook and decided to connect my Magic Mouse to it to make it easier to navigate. It did connect, but since then the Magic Mouse keeps disconnecting for my iMac and connecting to my MacBook, and vice versa, while I am working and the MacBook is in range.
Is there a way which I can remove the Magic Mouse from my MacBook preferences so that it is only connected to the iMac?
Thank you in advance.

Is there a way which I can remove the Magic Mouse from my MacBook preferences so that it is only connected to the iMac?
Open up the Bluetooth system preferences pane, click the mouse on the left and click the '-' button at the bottom.

  • Magic mouse connection lost

I have tried several suggested fixes for losing magic mouse connection.  I still lose connection.  Why is this happening and how can I fix it once and for all?

  • Magic Mouse connectivity and now clicking issue

Had my Magic Mouse for a few years now and it worked perfectly well up until about 12 months ago. It suddenly started to lose connection at random intervals (no it's not the batteries or the terminals) that annoyed me but I got on with it. Now though it seems to of seized up! It was jumping all over the place, selecting things I hadn't clicked and then seemed as if the right click was permanatly engaged. Now it's just not clicking at all which presents a problem in that I can't wen access the settings tab to try and fix it!! Tried taking the batteries out, no change. Restarted the computer manually, no change, changed the batteries even though they were reading 100%... No change. I'm a student again now, I can't afford £60 for a new mouse, especially after reading the thousands of threads about how bad they are!

    "Few years"
What makes you think that a mouse ( or anything else) lasts forever?
"Thousands of threads?"  That us quite an exaggeration and clearly not accurate.
    Buy a new one.

  • Magic Mouse connects to new MacBkPro but not older wireless keyboard

Exactly as my subject states, I bought a brand new MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6 and a new Magic Mouse. Mouse links up just fine through Bluetooth but for the life of me, can't get my new computer to recognize my slightly older wireless keyboard (it's abt 1.5 yrs old).
Do I need a more up-to-date keyboard? Something ka-flooey here? Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Problem: My wife's Macbook (Intel Core Duo) is able to connect to my new Time Capsule, but it quickly loses its connection. It doesn't really disconnect though - it still says that it is connected with full reception, but there is no internet, or time machine, and I can't even ping the router.
    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
When that happens, if you open the Network panel of System Preferences, select the AirPort connection item on the left, click the "Advanced" button, then the "TCP/IP" tab, do you see reasonable values for the several fields?
It might help to reset the connection settings on your Mac using these steps one at a time until it works again:
    1) Use the AirPort menu bar item to turn AirPort off, then on again.
    2) In the Network panel of System Preferences delete the AirPort item from the left column, then add it back.
    3) In the same panel as (2), define a new location and see if you can make that work.
    4) In the same panel, select the AirPort connection item, click the "Advanced" button, select the "TCP/IP" tab, then click "Renew DHCP Lease".
    5) In the folder /Library/Preferences ( not <yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences), move the folder SystemConfiguration onto the Desktop, then restart your computer. See if you can now make your AirPort connection work.
They may not help, but they'll only take a couple of minutes to try. Before you try these, note all your network settings, because the latter steps will destroy them.

  • Ultimate solution to Magic Mouse connection issue?

I have found that many users of Magic Mouse are experiencing frequent connection dropouts. I am another user who has been having trouble with this but unable to find a permanent solution.
I know that whenever this happens, usually by switching off the bluetooth on the computer and switching it back on would make it work again, but sometimes when this problem gets intensified, within a minute after I switch back on the bluetooth and reconnect the mouse,  the mouse would appear laggy again (and disconnect too at times).
I would like to know if there is a permanent solution to this problem.

I would add the Magic Mouse to bluetooth favorites. I use Snow Leopard but I think the process is the same for Leopard.
Go to System Preferences > Bluetooth > Highlight the Mouse on the left > click the gear icon below the list > check "show more information" if not already checked. > return to the gear icon and select "add to favorites".
That should help with a speedy reconnect.

  • Magic Mouse Disconnecting After every computer close

Every time I close my laptop screen, even without restarting or shutting down the computer, the Magic Mouse is no longer working when I open up the laptop screen again. It wasn't doing this until I replaced the batteries when the batteries that were packaged with ran out of battery life. I have to turn the little button on and off and then go to Mouse and have it reconnect each time. I even changed it to a favorite, and that didn't help. What is going on?

My problem was quite different, but perhaps this will help you under different conditions and its worth a try, nonetheless.
I found that cleaning the battery contacts of both the magic mouse and the batteries themselves has eliminated my disconnect problems. I used a pencil eraser and rubbed the contacts with the eraser, then blew the crumbs out with canned air. Before doing this, I rubbed the pencil eraser on paper to get fresh, clean rubber.

  • Magic Mouse connectivity issue

Magic Mouse after power on button is switched on, no light indication at all. Frequent connection timed out before it becomes totally unusuable. I bought the Magic Mouse only for 7 months and had changed the mouse once. I had also changed the batteries to alkaline ones but didnt help reviving the mouse. Is this a hardware quality issue or setup issue? please advise.

    HellO:
No light at all seems to indicate a faulty mouse.  I suggest you contact Applecare (or an Apple store) for a warranty replacement.

  • Magic Mouse connectivity issues

My magic mouse has been losing its connection lately. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina display with the latest version of Yosemite. Could it be that the mouse is nearing the end of its life? I bought this mouse when the magic mouse first came out maybe 5 years ago. Any suggestions?

I've followed several threads and agree with Seventy One, the problem is mechanical and simple to solve.  Cleaning the terminals is sensible, but I also did this which has made my mouse connection robust.
    My Solution:
I took a thick rubber band cut it to about 1 inch in length.  I placed it across the negative end of the batteries between the batteries and the compartment lid (not between the batteries and the terminals as that would cause a different problem).  When I close the lid, without forcing it, the rubber band holds the batteries firmly in place.  The batteries last longer and there is no drop in connection.  You might need to experiment a little with the thickness of the rubber band.
I can now lift the mouse, tap it on the mouse pad, turn it upside down and use it on the ceiling, although I do need a ladder and it does make my arm go to sleep after a while.
I've read about resetting parts of the operating system, but I really don't like doing that because of the law of unexpected consequences.
The words "glue" and "precision piece of electronic equipment", should not usually be used in the same sentence and are not natural companions, but in this case, now that I have the right thickness and position, I'll glue the band or a similar piece of foam to the inside of the compartment lid.  I expect a future Magic Mouse may have this built in as it is such a common issue.

  • Why won't my magic mouse pair with my computer?

  • HT1365 Magic mouse connection problem

Hello, I have a problem with the magic mouse for my imac constantly connecting and loosing connection. Batteries are 100% and the keyboard stays connected no problem.
The computor is brand new. Any ideas people?

From scanning the forums, there seem to be two suggested approaches to fixing this.
Make sure your batteries fit tightly- the Apple rechargeables tend to fit OK, but some others can connect loosely. Try a folded piece of paper between the batteries and under the battery door to hold them snugly in place.
Remove any possible sources of interference in the 2.4Ghz band- Move your DECT phone further away. Switch to 5GHz wifi for the macbook and phones or ipad if you can. If needs be, turn off possible sources of interference in this frequency range in your location one by one until you can isolate the problem.
This has been a problem on and off for a year or so.
I've just tried the bit of paper, and it does seem to be helping so far- fingers crossed.
    Good luck

  • Magic Mouse connects / disconnects at random

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro and a Magic Mouse for just 13 months now. It worked fine just until I installed Yosemite.
Now the Magic Mous, working with Bleutooth, connects bit disconnect in one or two seconds later, and than it connects / disconnects again repeatively. I replaced batteries for new ones but in vain: problem continues.
Do I need a new driver that did not went automaticly with Yosemite? Is there an other problem?
Thanks for your help in advance
    anjarie

My magic mouse will work for a couple days fine but for the majority of the time my mac book doesnt even recognize it at all. It says no blue tooth device detected. I've tried everything. New batteries, turning on and off, trying to do anything I can think off. The icon at the top of the page says Bluetooth: Not Available. When I turn the mouse on by the switch on the bottom, it glows green for about 2 seconds ad then starts blinking twice then eventually stops blinking all together. Its been days since i can get it to work. It has always been really touchy. I think I may take it in to the mac store and see what they say. Any one have any ideas????

  • HT3226 my magic mouse connection is intermittent, why?

I have carried all the checks on the support pages but still the mouse is intermittent nad has new batteries, any ideas on the fix?

Delete your device's Bluetooth profile and turn it off. Restart your computer and then pair your Macbook with your magic mouse.
    I hope this helps.
My magic trackpad did the exact same thing and that was the solution.
