Magic mouse doesnt right click

How to right click?

Hi, Pastor GLR.
To enable right-click, go to System Preferences > Mouse > Point & Click and enable Secondary Click.
Cheers,

  • Magic Mouse stopped right clicking right after 10.8.4 update

My computer just performed the latest update to OS 10.8.4 and now my "Magic Mouse" won't right click, even though right click says it's enabled.  Please help!

    Try deleting the .plist.
You need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Preferences.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
    Restart
If it works, delete the .plist on your desktop. If not, put it back.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Magic Mouse No Right Click and 10.10.1

Updated to the latest version of OS X, and now both of my Magic Mice won't register a right (contextual) click. Is this a known bug? it's obviously not a device problem, given that neither of my mice have a problem. I'll have to look and see if my laptop is on the previous version and is exhibiting the same problem.

Got imac 27" i7 yesterday loaded , migrated among other things clicked mouse preferences under system prefs and also clicked to enable right click on new magic mouse.  Ran fine until next day, got a hole bunch of keychain authorization accesses requests for icloud and it's products, everyone I had clicked the day earlier for the initial setup on this new imac, but also more to the point the right click on the new magic mouse was now not functioning.  So I check the mouse perfs again, and the right click was checked so unchecked and re-checked, but no fixes , still right click not functioning, right click was acting like normal left click on any browser links.  So I simply shut down, ( the iconic fix all solution no one wants to believe in ) and upon reboot functionality of right click on magic mouse came back. So I'll call it a fluke, if it comes back randomly I'll assume it's a possible bug in osx 10.10.2  as well as possibly 10.10.1?  Anyway that's it so far.

  • Magic mouse doesnt turn on.

Magic mouse doesnt turn on. The green light doesnt light up, Have changed batteries. Any ideas on what could be wrong?
    Thanks

Is there a possibility the batteries are not really fresh and fully charged?  It may be you purchased batteries that were too old in the store.  Your store may be able to verify they have retained a strong voltage (1.5 volt required for regular alkaline batteries and 1.2 for rechargeable).  Old batteries slowly lose their voltage even when not in use.

  • How do I change my mouse to right click for copy and paste

How do I change my mouse to right click for copy and paste?

OK, what mouse are you using?  Brand, model?  Your right click should register as a right click unless that has been overridden by a preference pane.  If your Mouse preference pane looks like this, your right click should be the equivalent of a control-left-click on a Mac.

  • Apple Mouse (mighty mouse?) Right clicks too often

I have the Apple Mouse (former Mighty Mouse) and I have right click turned on.  The mouse is constantly doing "right click" when I click left.  I look and my finger is well to the left of the little scroll wheel.
I thought "Oh maybe it's sensing the whole panel and I'm pushing in a funny angle" but no, I paid attention and  I was not.
I'm just wondering, is this a common problem with this mouse?   Or is my particular mouse defective?

I have a 2011 iMac and the batteries in my Magic Mouse need changing every couple of months.  In contrast, my wireless keyboard only needs a battery change every 10 months or so.  I bought an Apple battery charger and keep the spare set of batteries always charged.
I think that is the way it is - mouse uses more juice than keyboard (or gets more use so runs down faster).  However, if it gets worse than 2 weeks life, it may be time to invest in a new mouse.

  • Magic Mouse needs multiple clicks to respond

My Magic Mouse has been having issues today: about 20% of the time, the computer doesn't respond when I click, but if I click again right after that, it works. Changed the batteries, but that didn't help. Anyone else notice this, or have any ideas on how to fix it?

  • Magic mouse doesnt work with new macbook air

    Hey guys,
Just bought the magic mouse and it pairs just fine to my new 13" macbook air. But it only moves around and clicks and nothing else. Does not scroll or do any multitouch functions. I have checked all software is up to date and all settings are correct.
    Thanks in advance.

I was having the same issues as Cawlin and called up AppleCare. They suggested resetting the PRAM, and then a SMC reset. That didn't work, so they had me do a re-install of the OS and system updates. None of that worked, and then it suddenly occurred to me that I had installed USB Overdrive a little while back and turns out that it was the culprit. A quick uninstall and everything's back to normal. The mouse preference panel is now displaying the correct options for the magic mouse. So if you have any 3rd party software for a mouse or keyboard installed, I would suggest uninstalling or disabling it and see if that does the trick.

  • Mouse left/right click only working in Dock

My mouse Razer naga had stopped working after i interrupted a sleep
i tried PRAM reset, and SMC reset. Also tried safe boot
    not working still
i can move it and click in dock and in Safari it opens links just like when you cmd+leftclick "new tab open"
is there anyway i can reset usb/keyboard/mouse so i can reinsert it agian so mac finds it agian and let's me configurate it ?

This is getting stranger and stranger.  I did a test of a simulation, then one based on a standard Adobe template.  In both cases the right-click worked.
Then I created a whole new template, created a simulation based on it, and it didn't work, and reported an error on the page that gave the following details.
Ah!  Could it be that I didn't store my template in the "Templates" directory, but on my flash drive?

  • Mighty Mouse Wireless Right Click not working

    Hi Friends!
I am having some difficulty getting my Right Click on my Wireless MM to work. I am aware that I need to keep my left finger off the mouse but it still does not seem to be working.
    Any thoughts ?
    Thanks !
    J

Try replacing the battieries (or just taking them out and putting them back in). Forcing the connection between the Mighty Mouse and the iMac to break. Then put the new batteries, or the ones you were you using from before, in the MM.
Re-link the Mighty Mouse to the iMac and try applying the settings for the right click function in System Preferences.
Remember to mark as helpful or solved.

  • Magic Mouse and Middle Click

After upgrading to Mountain Lion (10.8) on my MacBook Pro (mid-2011), my MagicPrefs app doesn't work anymore, and their server does not seem to be able to connect for an update (are they defunct?). My problem is that I installed XQuartz (as recommended by Apple) but many X-Windows functions require a middle mouse button (most notoriously for "paste" - there simply seems to be NO way to copy and paste something within an xterm without the middle button). No dice? Apple's own preferences only allow for one "secondary click", which of course should translate as "right-click" to make context-sensitive menus available. Help?

After more people recommended it, I decided to give Better Touch Tool a try. It does reasonably well, but I still wish Apple would allow more customization directly in their preferences (e.g., how SENSITIVE the mouse is, and whether one needs 1 or 2 fingers to scroll, etc.). For now, I had to disable ALL of Apples "helpful" gestures and replace them with the best approximation to what I really want from BetterTouchTool. (For some reason, BTT does NOT seem to offer ANY scrolling gestures, just "page up" and "page down" which only works when a window is selected, and only at most on one pane of that window).

  • Might Mouse and Right Click

Well, I just recently got my MacBook Pro, and along with it a keyboard and the mighty mouse.
I just converted from PC, so I'm very used to the right click. I know the right click is possible with the mighty mouse, but is there any way to make it more sensible to the right click? What I mean, is that sometimes I'll right click, but it'll do a left click. I've also noticed that in order for the right click to work, I have to completely lift my other finger off the mouse so it doesn't do a left click, and even that sometimes doesn't work.
Is there any way to fix this?

Well, right click as you normally would except lift your finger so as to not activate left click, there's nothing to it. As long as you lift your finger right click should work, your hand is unlikely to cancel it out, unless your fingers are on the squeeze buttons on the side.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Looses Right Click Functionality

I am using a new Wireless Mighty Mouse (about one month old) With new batteries.
Since I started using it, the (secondary) right click would stop function after repeated use. After many frustrating trouble shooting attempts, I discovered that the Right Click will work again if the mouse is left idle for about 15 - 20 minutes.
I will like to know if this is a defect that's inherent in the Mighty Mouse system, and if so, has anyone found a solution to this problem or is there a fix?
Any input would be very much appreciated

    Mac G5. 2ghz DP   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Unfortunately my experience suggests no. I'm on my 5th (or is it 6th?) wireless Mighty Mouse now, and they've all behaved just as you described. The latest replacement was only a week ago. I suspect the only point in replacing it further times would be to demonstrate that you've tried all you can. As far as I can tell, my only recourse at this point is convincing Apple to refund me, which is a shame because I like the scroll ball design.
I should note that I'm in Australia, in case stock has been slower to update here, but it shouldn't make a difference...
I've noticed that the problem seems to occur a lot more frequently under hot conditions - room heater on, hot hands etc. Could it still think the left button is being touched because it's warm and/or sweatier than usual?
