Magic mouse errors gesture

Hi all,
I've bought the new magic mouse, thinking that it will be probably more efficient than the mighty mouse.
I really like the mighty mouse but i needed to change several times because of the ball which was out of order quite fast. ( i must have used 5 or 6 of it!!!).
After understanding the magic mouse have not all the functionalities of the mighty mouse (only 2 buttons), i've still found it quite interesting, until 2 or 3 days ago when it began to have strange behavior.
I can not hardly move folders, or mails for example from one mailbox to another one.
It is really difficult to select a part a document.
I am really surprised the item is working so badly.
Does anybody have also some gesture errors?
Cordially

I am having the same problems. Slow track speed, loss of communication with the computer. I even moved my computer to my desktop and it has made no change. Hopefully Apple will see this and update the firmware or something to make this mouse work.

  • Magic Mouse, MultiTouch Gestures, and OS X Lion...

    Hi All -
I noticed the Magic Mouse doesn't offer the same MultiTouch Gestures as the Trackpad. Is there any reason for this or solutions? I feel that my $70 Magic Mouse just became devalued with the introduction of Lion...
    Thanks

I think it was because of the difficulty in using up to 4 fingers with the mouse.  You could check with some 3rd party vendors like MagicPrefs or Better Touch Tool that allow more gestures.  I haven't tested them on Lion so not sure about compatiblity.

  • Magic Mouse Multitouch gesture support under Lion

Are all multitouch gestures in Lion supported on the Magic Mouse or just the gestures illustrated on the box?

I'm not sure which gestures are illustrated on the box but here are the gestures it supports.
Not as many as the trackpad but more than previous in SL.

  • Magic Mouse Error

I have just bought a magic mouse and have done the necessary updates - however on system preferences it will not now allow me to click on 'Mouse' to make any changes. If I hover over the icon it says - "your access to this preference has been restricted" I am the only user on this Mac and am the administrator. I have tried going to to the reseller and they couldn't help...

    Hi
I have tried both suggestions - even downloaded a bit of software called MagicPrefs which has worked for a while and then...it has now locked me out of that application!!

  • Horrible Bluetooth Keyboard Battery Life - Since Magic Mouse?

I'm having a weird issue that is driving me nuts. I've noticed that over the past couple weeks I've had to replace the batteries in my Apple bluetooth keyboard several times because it is draining at a rate of about 18-20% a day, even when I'm not at home using it or using it much at all. I have the first version of the mini keyboard, the one that takes three batteries. I used to get great battery life and only had to replace them maybe once every few months so something is definitely wrong. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I went from the bluetooth Mighty Mouse to the Magic Mouse. As a result I had to install the update that came out to support it and then shortly after, 10.6.2.
I have tried all the typical stuff like removing both the keyboard and mouse from Bluetooth setup, doing fresh pairings, etc. Nothing has helped. At this point I've deleted the Magic Mouse and gone back to the Mighty Mouse to see if that makes a difference, but I already hate it and greatly prefer the Magic Mouse. I'm hoping that someone here has seen or had this issue before and can point me in another direction that helps.
    Thanks!

Perhaps inquire directly of Apple Care. Gizmodo's review (http://gizmodo.com/5386202/apple-magic-mouse-review ) relays a claim about the Magic Mouse battery life saying, "it's powered by two AA batteries, which get up to four months of use per charge, according to Apple."
Engadget's preview (link follows) included the same reference, the related headline read, "Apple's Magic Mouse: one button, multitouch gestures, Bluetooth, four-month battery life."

Finding support for Gizmodo's reference ("according to Apple") and Engadget's headline may be a little more difficult. Perhaps I haven't read the press release carefully enough. Clip below, from that Apple press release:

  • Magic Mouse battery only lasts 30 days?

I bought my new 21" iMac back in October and today got a message from Magic Mouse that batteries need to be replaced.
What kind of battery life other folks are getting from MM? Is there anything can be done to increase battery life of MM?

    Hi Kenichi Watanabe:
Would seem some Apple reference reported the Magic Mouse batteries should last four months. I've only found items that report the reference (have not located the reference itself). Clips below are cross posted, but if you search the Internet for the terms ["Magic Mouse" four months] (without the brackets), you'll find a whole series of early reviews and comments containing the same reference to four month battery life.

  • How come I can't use the back gesture in certain apps with my magic mouse on certain applications in Lion OS?

How come I can't use the back gesture with my magic mouse on certain applications in Lion? I figured out that in Safari i have to use a 1 finger swipe to go back a page instead of 2 fingers like i used to do in Snow Leopard. But apps like iTunes and iPhoto and i can't do that. Any ideas? is there a setting im missing to make this work? It works in Safari but not any other applications, so im assuming theres no setting for this. Just want to know if this is just a bug that will be fixed in the next update or if its something I can fix now. Any help would be appreciated because its kind of annoying. Other than this minor issue I love Lion. Full screen apps are unbelievable.

  • OSX 10.5, Boot Camp, XP, Magic Mouse, Device Mgr Code 43 error on Bluetooth

I'm running Boot Camp and XP on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.5) and my Bluetooth has stopped working - on the Device Manager I'm getting a yellow '!' next to the "Apple Built-in Bluetooth" symbol in the Device Manager which reports that Windows has stopped the Bluetooth device because it has problems (Code 43).
This is how it happened...I had a Logitech mouse that wasn't working vey well so I bought the Magic Mouse (at enormous cost!!!). I installed it on the Mac OS no problem but when it came to run it on XP, although it could see the mouse and pair to it, when you moved the mouse the pointer on the screen wouldn't move.
I then found out about the Boot Camp 2.2 update which I installed okay. In fact this cured a problem I had had with the tab key on my wireless keyboard erroneously giving a '-' sign. However, it did not make the mouse work so I tried removing all the old Logitech software and drivers at which point Bluetooth stopped working completely giving the error described above.
Has anyone any idea how I can get this fixed? Any help much appreciated.
    Nigel

I got this to work. I found that restarting didn't make any difference but the problem seemed to be such a low-level hardware issue that I tried switching the Mac off (and removing the battery for good measure) and then restarting XP again worked. When I did this, I got a message saying that the machine had found lots new hardware starting with the 'Microsoft BT Emulator'.
The mouse still doesn't give me all the functions I have with the Mac OS but that's fine as far as I'm concerned.

  • Problem with magic mouse gestures in safari

    iMac 27", mid 2011
    16 GB 1333Mhz
Using OS X Yosemite, Safari, Magic Mouse
one day no problem at all, the next day, without any new installations:
Whenever I use the swipe gesture to go back to a previous page,
It does not work and I cannot scroll on this page anymore.
Shutting down Safari and restarting it works.
I read a lot about this, it seems to be a known problem.
I did not use terminal to use direct command for remedy, but tried everything else I read:
power own the mouse, taking battery out, switching off BT for Mouse, several restarts of the iMac etc.
    Nothing helps.
As I am so used to the gestures for a very long tome, it takes only seconds, before I swipe back-- and that´s it!
    I have to restart Safari.
I would be very thankful for your help!
    best,
    Fred

    Hi seventy one,
many thanks for your efforts to help me!!
but I just solved my problem doing the exact same as someone else did:
    I cite him here:
BidgeMar 10, 2015 7:05 PM Re: Magic Mouse Scrolling Issue
Re: Magic Mouse Scrolling Issuein response to Linc Davis
    Hi Linc
Thank you for the extremely detailed response.
I think I have the issue solved for the minute at least.
I not only disconnected every cable from the Mac, as I had previously done, I also disconnected every cable from my peripherals and powered down every peripheral as well, then re-wired my set-up. This seems to have solved the issue. Not sure of the technical reason that this would have fixed my problem, but it seems to have fixed the issue for the moment anyway.
So, my problem is solved too!!
    Many thanks

  • Magic mouse gestures not working

    Hi,
the gestures of my magic mouse stop working.
I've tried another mouse on my laptop and it work
I also tried my mouse on another laptop and the same problem happens.
it's behaving like a "normal" mouse.
Is this a hardware problem? if yes, How do I fix it?
    Please advise,
    CM

Reset the SMC and PRAM, it make take 2-3 attempts to fully clear them. If those do not work restart in Safe Mode to clear some caches.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • I bought apple magic mouse and trying to pare it with mac book pro but it says the devise doesn't have necessary services also when if I try to pare it again in 5 mins it says error in connecting ...please help

    please help

It sounds like you have assigned the primary click on the trackpad to something else, perhaps a gesture.
Use your mouse, login and then open the Trackpad preference pane and see how you have the interface configured.
Oh and you can have both the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad powered up and working at the same time. No need to keep moving batteries around.

  • Magic Mouse gestures settings

    Hi,
My magic mouse connects to my MBP and the cursor works, but the mouse settings window is the old one and i can not activate gestures for the mouse.
I´ve tried to reset PRAM and SMC with no effect.
    Tried magicprefs.app with no effect.
Anyone got some suggestions for me?

    Found the solution.
I have earlier installed usb overdrive, but this was removed.
Install the new version, and then unistalled it again, then the settings window is back to normal.

  • Has Magic Mouse as many gestures as the Trackpad?

I have just read a comment from a well-known contributor to the Apple Support Community Forums stating that a Magic Mouse provides all the gestures of a trackpad.
Is this correct and if so, could someone please give me a list of these gestures (or point me to where I can find out)?

    Hello Ian:
This is pretty generic.  It implies similarity, but does not state that.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11377
I have the information when my mouse is attached (in system preferences), but I rarely use it since I bought my MacBook Pro.
My "memory" indicates the gestures are the same, but that is not definitive.

  • How do I turn off the swipe gesture of the magic mouse?

I found the answer! It was buried in the support community answers and it certainly deserves a repeat:
    Download:
    http://magicprefs.com/
Once this is downloaded you will find "Magic Prefs" in your system preferences. I unclicked every single box in the "Swipes" tab.

Unchecking all of the checkboxes in the Mouse/More Gestures preference pane didn't do the job for you?
