Magic Mouse Frozen

I bought a 27" IMac in April, received it in May and yesterday, the mouse needed new batteries for the fourth time. I replaced the batteries and it worked fine for several hours, then it started acting strangely for a few minutes. It was lagging ... not picking up on commands and then it froze. The scrolling still worked, but the cursor won't move at all. Not knowing what had happened, I restarted the computer. No change. Still frozen.
I opened a new package of batteries and changed the batteries again ... thinking perhaps I got some bad batteries. No change. Still frozen. I ran down to a different store and bought more batteries. Tried those. Nothing. Turn the mouse on and off several times ... reboot the computer several times ... nothing. The green light on the mouse comes on, then it blinks for several minutes and then it shuts itself off. It is not connecting at all.
I figured, perhaps something was wrong with the mouse itself. Since I live in the British Virgin Islands where getting parts is a real problem ... I bought three Magic Mouse(s) as well as a spare wireless keyboard when I bought the new computer. So I turned off the mouse, removed the batteries, unpackaged a brand new mouse and tried to pair it with my IMAC. No go!
My IMAC and my business are dead in the water. I dusted off my old macbook Pro laptop in order to post this message. I run an internet based business and have no way to correspond with my clients as all my email (and their files) are on my Imac ... none of which I can access!
Man, I really wish I had a corded mouse I could switch to ... but I don't. This is a disaster! I don't have a clue what to do to get back up and running. It is 5:45 in the morning and I have been up all night trying to fix this problem. I open for business at 8:00 a.m. and I simply can't do a thing!
HELP!!!

Well my tech guy just left with $150.00 of my money. Apparently after a whopping three months, my mouse is actually dead! I was apparently trying to pair the new one without first disposing of the old one in Bluetooth ... which is why it didn't work when I tried it. He tried and tried to get the original mouse working again but no go. It is dead.
I sure as heck hope this next one works for more than 3 months! I have 1 more to go if this new one dies on me. If they die at the same rate, I can assure you that I will be reconsidering my allegiance to Apple products which I have used exclusively for the past 15 years. This is my 11th computer and although I am happy enough with the new IMAC, I am less than impressed with a few things that have already gone wrong.
I also just discovered that the CD Rom on my laptop no longer works. Now that's just crazy because that machine is only ever used for emergency purposes such as when my mouse freezes! It's not like it has had any heavy wear and tear and it wasn't exactly cheap!
Not very happy right now, though I am happy that I had the forethought to buy extras ... just in case ... but I certainly didn't think "just in case" would happen quite so soon! Truly unbelievable. I hope this is just a "one off", bad luck type of thing and that this new one will last at least a year or two! My old mighty mouse is still going strong after 2 years.
Grrrrr.

  • My wired Apple Magic Mouse is frozen and I am unable to move around on my Mini Mac.  I receive a window saying the computer cannot locate a wireless mouse.  How do I get my mouse to work again.

My Magic Mouse is frozen.  How do I get it to work again?  Also I keep getting a window that says it cannot locate my wireless mouse.  I do not have a wireless mouse.

Got confused between your header question about a wired mouse and the main question about a wireless mouse.  You said your magic mouse was frozen and added you do not have a wireless mouse.   Problem is ... the magic mouse is wireless.   The original mighty mouse was the corded version.
The wired mouse is a regular problem.  After two to three years it tends to clog up. You can clean it (to a degree) as follows.
Using an alcohol moistened, not wet, cotton bud, scratch at the mouse ball for a minute or so.   Then turn it upside down and on a clean piece of thick white paper or card on a firm surface, vigorously rub the mouse ball on the paper in a regular figure of eight.  Do this for a minute or so and occasionally tap the mouse on the paper.   This will help dislodge bits of fluff etc.   Then try again

    Hello:
Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.

  • Magic Mouse not working, frozen, how to fix?

Recently my Magic Mouse cursor became frozen. I can still scroll up and down and zoom in on webpages, I just can't move the cursor.
I've tried new batteries, restarting the Imac, rebooting and nothing is working.
Any other ways I can get this thing working without having to go out and buy a brand new mouse (cause they ain't cheap)?

I reset the PRAM and SMC and still the mouse cursor won't move.
It's just weird that it will scroll up and down and zoom in by tapping the center, but I can't get the cursor to move.
    i'm at a loss!

  • Macbook Pro keyboard and track pad freezes after a day or two of using bluetooth Magic Mouse

The first time this happened I thought my 3 y/old 17" Macbook Pro had died. The mouse cursor had frozen to the top left of the screen and the keyboard was also frozen and no matter what I did it didnt unfreeze. Even restarting. I searched extensively online and the only solution offered was to re install the system software.
The next day I took it into work, opened it ip there and the cursor and keyboard was working again.
This led me to believe there was a conflict with my recently purchased Magic Mouse and/or bluetooth.  Even though I had been using the mouse for well over 3 weeks with no problem.
I resumed using the Magic Mouse with the computer for another week and then the keyboard/trackpad froze again. The Magic Mouse remained active.  This time, I took the batteries out of the mouse and took the computer downstairs. After a couple of hours everything is working fine again.
Has anyone had this experience and knows how to fix? Or am I resigned to using a wired mouse?

I have never encountered anything similar. However, try resetting the PRAM and SMC.

  • Magic Mouse Freezing

My Magic Mouse regulary freezes and stays down for about 5 minutes. Is there a simple fix?

So your bluetooth is frozen? Hmmm.
You just turn the mouse off & on again & mash the button 10times /sec until it kicks in again.

  • Blue Screen & mouse frozen after sleep

Problem: After my G5 PowerPC tower wakes up from sleep, the mouse will not work. After approx. 1 minute, my screen goes blue and the computer is frozen.
This all seemed to start immediately after I did the most recently iPhone software and iTunes update--don't know if its just a coincidence or not, but that's when it started.
I've done the Disk Utility fix and then a Install & Archive from the Install disk (OS 10.5), Nothing. Its still doing this crash ONLY after the computer wakes up from sleep.
Does this mean I have to do a complete fresh reinstall of the OS and start from scratch???
    H E L P ! ! ! ! ! !

I just bought the magic mouse and did the new update (Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0) for it to work on my machine. I also updated my iTunes at the same time. Everything seemed to work fine until my computer went to sleep. I woke the computer and my desktop showed up just fine, then about 5 seconds later I got the blue screen.
The only thing I have been able to do is just do a hard reset. I repaired my disk permissions and the same problem continues.
I tried the advice above (create a new user account) but that did not work.
    Any ideas...

  • Magic Mouse and Employing Pinch to Open and Close Feature

I have purchased a magic mouse and would like to employ the "pinch to open & close" features (option on multi-touch trackpad) with the magic mouse. This is not the same as zoom (e.g. hold control key with mouse wheel).
I have tried using bettertouchtool and magicprefs, but it appears that neither accommodates this feature easily. If there were a keyboard shortcut to employ this feature then I think I can assign it to a magic mouse gesture via BTT or Magic Prefs, but I cannot find such a keyboard shortcut.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

It could be you are approaching it incorrectly.   It can be a tricky little gadget that actually works with minimal pressure.
Try turning over the mouse so the compartment panel faces you, optical sensor topmost.  Then holding the mouse at each side but not on the panel itself, flick the small, black rectangular panel downwards.   The top of the panel should spring out, though it may require you to manipulate it fully away from the mouse.
Once you have replaced the batteries, starting at the bottom reverse the procedure then clip into place.   Remember to move the small switch next to the optical sensor upwards which should turn on the green light.   Then click twice to connect.

  • My magic mouse scrolling is stuttering in safari 5.0.5. Can anyone help?

    Hi all,
This has been a problem for a while now but am finally getting around to do something about it. I've increasingly noticed that when scrolling in Safari 5.0.5 it becomes stuttery/jittery using the magic mouse.
I've updated everything (OS, updates etc...) to the latest versions, have plenty of space left on my HD.
Does anyone have suggestions to get it fixed? Smooth scrolling is selected in mouse preferences.
    Kind regards,
    Jack

Same problem here. As well, every few minutes, the mouse doesn't scroll at all until I've scrolled up and down two or three times. Other forums have posts about this problem, too. Things that didn't help:
    • quitting/restarting Safari
    • restarting
    • resetting PRAM
    • turning off smooth scrolling
    The problem occurs independently of:
    • Flash websites
    • complex pages
    • currently loading pages (active, or background tabs)
    • any other wireless activity

  • Is there a way to open the notification pane using magic mouse?

Is there a way to open the notification pane using magic mouse? i mean it would be great if i could two finger swipe to the right for the notification pane (two finger swipe left opens dashboard)
I have Magic Prefs if it helps

It doesn't seem like this is possible in 10.9.1.  Can someone at Apple confirm or provide a solution?

Estes atalhos realmente aumentam a produtividade do trabalho no software: zoom, orbit, pan, etc...

  • Can anyone tell me why my apple magic mouse isn't working on my computer i've tried new batterys but it still doesn't work

I bought a macbook pro and apple magic mouse 6 months ago and it has worked in the past, but when I tried to use it earlier it doesn't work. The macbook seems to recognise it but when you move the mouse the curser stays put. The track pad still works though, any sugestions?
