Magic Mouse is Broken!

My magic mouse has brand new batteries and was connected, i restarted my Mac and it just stopped working, the light isnt even coming on! this always happens and its really annoying, Please help!

It is not necessarily broken.   There are many problems that arise with batteries from the size to the contacts.   Some batteries are not a precise size for the compartment.   Are you using an Apple charger and Apple batteries?   I believe Duracell are satisfactory too, though in my experience they do not last long.
Suggest you take out the batteries, clean the battery contacts and the contact points inside the mouse with an alcohol based cleaner using a damp, not wet, cotton bud.   Also wipe the sensor.  Leave it for a few minutes, reassemble and turn on the mouse.  If the green light then shows, double click and wait the for the connection confirmation to show.

  • Magic Mouse cover broken. Is it covered?

I had a problem putting the cover back on as I was replacing the batteries today and realised a piece of the latch has broken off after a close examination. It is still usuable without the cover but considering the cost of it and the fact I only had it for less than 3 months, is it covered by the warranty? I purchased it from an Apple Store and still have the receipt.

Accidental Damage issue...  I'd be surprised if they take it back because you broke it.
I do admit, it does seem very counter-intuitive on how to put the **** face-plate back in.

  • MacBook Pro update to Yosemite breaks Magic Mouse

Installed Yosemite today. Magic Mouse instantly broken. It does connect sometimes, but the tracking is sluggish and gestures don't work at all. Worked fine in Mavericks. Batteries @80%.
Re-pairing does NOT work for me. zaping PRAM does NOT work for me.

Is there a solution, patch? How can this be so terribly broken?

    Hello,
The problem persist. I have this problem on a macbook pro 13" retina display. Upgraded to Yoseminte and big problem, my Apple Magic did not working anymore. After i replace batteries, restart mac, turn off turn on bluetooth several times, i connect the mouse. But guess what? After i close the lid and i go home, when open the mac again, surprise: NO MOUSE.
Please be serious and get an answer to this issue, both are your products, if APPLE products get errors of communications, what I should expect from others.
People buy Apple for commodity and for less number of problems, in fact Apple products are not so good as you think. So if you have problems like I cannot connect a mouse with a Macbook Pro, then Apple fail.
Guess what, in your Apple stores, people who maybe know some english, don't know to solve this problem, and they told me is a personal problem.
For sure I have personal problem with my mouse...
Thank you for testing Yoseminte before official Launch.
    With respect,
    Shanaki

  • Magic Mouse Broken?

I just bought a magic mouse, and I'm not sure if it's broken or if I'm just not using it correctly.
    Problem 1:
I'm swiping one finger across the top of the mouse. The page in my Safari browser moves one page forward when I swipe from right-to-left on the mouse, but the page in my Safari doesn't move one page backwards when I swipe from left-to-right. Nothing happens.
    Problem 2:
I'm trying to right-click on the mouse. I'm using one finger to click the top right corner of the mouse, and the right click funtion isn't working properly.
    Any help is appreciated!

  • Magic Mouse no longer pairing

I used a Magic Mouse successfully with my Mini for a month. I've given the computer to my wife, and it no longer wants to pair. When I turn it on, the green light comes on for a while, then goes off into a "two blink, silent, two blink, silent" routine.
The Bluetooth Setup Assistant says, "No mice have been found. Make sure your mouse is "discoverable"."
I have had it working with her computer, but often from sleep or reboot the pairing is broken.
I've also paired it with two other computers, which wasn't an issue initially. Do I need to make it unlearn something? What do the two blinks together mean? Any ideas what changed when I handed the computer over that could unpair the mouse? It is using a new monitor and keyboard, but that's the only significant change.
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with my new 27" iMac. Maybe I'm a dunce, but Apple's (and many users'/posters') solutions to a non-responding/non-pairing mouse seem to be some variation of "Select X from the X menu" or "Turn on/off/open System Preferences/whatever. How do you select ANYTHING when you don't have a movable/clickable mouse cursor to select WITH? And yes, I've installed fresh batteries, clicked on and off, restarted, and still the mouse is NOT paired -- when I turn on the not-so-magic mouse, the green light blinks like crazy, but I get no screen message, no pairing, no nothing. Someone please wise me up to what I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks!

  • Apple Magic Mouse--right click not working, left-right scroll not working

Brand new out of the box, right click does not work and neither do the left-right swipe. Is it likely I have a faulty mouse, or is there a software update or setting I have failed to find? Running 10.6.4 on brand new MacBook Air. Experts--help please

I have the same issue.  My magic mouse is only about a year old and i honestly don't use it that often... it seems to me the right click is not "connecting" well as i have to click several times or very hard to get it to make a clicking sound.  not sure if its stiff or broken or not.
Overall I'm pretty frustrated as this thing was EXPENSIVE.
Any ideas how to fix it?

  • My magic mouse turn color on the inside? It was 2 years old magic mouse, and today I found that it looked like a boiled egg, has yellowish spot on the middle. What to do?

Hai, I had been using my magic mouse almost two years now. I may not the cleanest user, i admit. But today, i found that my magic mouse looked like a boiled egg, it was yellowish spot on the inside, I don't know why, it works fine. But i'm just worry there had been some some electricity problem on the inside.
    Thank you.

I had this happen as well. after I replaced the batteries it went to acting strangely. Same thing on glossy surfaces only.
This happened once before, and I thought it was broken, and just like pepi70 I think I remember an accidental drop fixed it before, wondering if I should drop it again, I have already tried banging it lightly with my hand to no avail.
Maybe more people have had this problem but didn't think to try it on glossy surfaces. Very strange it only works on glossy...
    Anyone find a good solution?

  • Magic mouse causes jumping pages in browser?

Whilst I am browsing, from time to time, the page jumps either backward or forward wile I am holding the magic mouse. It seems to be when I have a thumb and finger on the outside metal edges of the mouse. It really is frustrating when I am trying to read something and my concentration gets broken by this action.
Is anyone having a similar occurrence or does someone know how to do a fix for this?

Uncheck The option in System Preferences > Mouse > More Gestures tab > Swipe between pages with one finger.
This will prevent the back or forward actions.

  • Magic Mouse - Should It Click At The Back?

I have a brand new Magic Mouse and I believe it's broken.
Should the top shell move up and down at the back of the mouse, beyond the Apple logo? And should the top shell rock from side to side?
I'm pretty certain the top shell of the Magic Mouse is only supposed to physically move up and down at the front, to provide the mechanical click.
I'd really appreciate it if any of you could check yours for me.

I called apple and they didnt have a magic mouse at hand to do a full sound diagnostics as my mouse had different sound on each side.
I took it into an apple store, did not book a genius, and told the person at the back that it was broken and the button was not smooth. The person played with the button a bit and went to the back and got me a new one.
This new one i can confirm to you that the shell does not move around, there is only little movement at the back, and both sides click the same way; nice and smoothly.
    There is a difference.
So if you've got a mouse similar to what I described in my previous post, you should take it in because there is something wrong with your $69 investment.

  • Magic mouse doesn't work with new batteries

my magic mouse green led light won't turn on after putting in new batteries. I've changed the batteries a few times with no problems, but now it won't work. Can my mouse be defective/broken only after a few months??

I have exactly the same issue.  Whenever I replace the batteries in my magic mouse I have a few days of constant disconnections.  At first it's very annoying and the mouse disconnects every 3 minutes or so.  It reconnects automatically in about 15 seconds but it's a huge pain.  After a couple of days the connection seems to smooth out and become very stable. My guess is that it is something to do with the actual BlueTooth radio and that the signal strength might actually be too high at first.  One note is that I have a magic mouse that I use with an iMac and that never seems to have the trouble, but the mouse that I've used with my laptops has always had this problem even with a couple of different laptops.  It might be the mouse, but it also could be that when I'm using my laptops the mouse is only a few inches from the computer, but on the desktop the mouse is probably 2 feet from the computer.
Seems like it's a radio issue to me.

  • Magic Mouse has no kinetic scrolling!

I just got my magic mouse in the mail, eagerly paired it with my late 2008 MacBook Pro 15-inch, and installed mouse update 1.0, but when I started trying out the multi-touch features, they didn't work like the ones in the store. The scrolling works, but it isn't kinetic, it has no momentum and stops immediately if you take your finger off the mouse. I looked extensively in settings to try and find a checkbox for scroll momentum, but there is none! Please help tell me if the mouse is broken or if it is software. Thanks!

I figured it out! It's cause leopard doesn't have kinetic/momentum scroll, only snow leopard. BUT there is hope, if you type this into terminal:
defaults write com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse MouseMomentumScroll -bool yes
that will enable momentum in leopard

  • Apple Magic Mouse from iMac to PC

Hi there! I'm going to purchase new iMac 2011, but for the first week or two I can't use it for some reason (it's a present and I don't wanna show it). But I got my PC mouse broken so can I use iMac's magic mouse with my PC somehow?

I don't think it will work, here is what Apple says it's requirements are:
    System Requirements
Mac computer with Bluetooth wireless technology
OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0* or OS X v10.6.1 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
Existing keyboard and mouse for setup
    Two AA batteries (included)
