Magic Mouse Issue (came with iMac 27")

I've noticed today that the 'swipe' gesture feature stopped working. A restart fixed it but was wondering if there is a fix for this. Don't want this happening again...

Do a search of this forum, Just look down this page for two or three other posts with the same theme. Many folks report the issue. Many folks report different ways of solving it for themselves.
I have had the MM for three weeks now without one issue. I am even experimenting with BetterTouchTool for added utility of my MM.

Magic mouse loses connection with iMac

My brand new imac came with magic mouse. I immediately updated to mountain lion. Magic mouse occasionally drops connection and then reconnects after some time. During the time of disconnection I am unable to do any thing. Please tell me what to do.

Sound like my issue with the magic mouse. I notice the indicater green light was off when i lost lost my connection. Once I reinstalled the batteries the light would glow and my connection was temportarly restored. After losing my connection again; I reseated the batteries but I added a small cushion of folded paper. I made sure my cushion wasn't too thick so to allow for the battery cover. After my small mofication my mouse has not lost connection for over several weeks.

Try unpairing it. Do you have another mouse that you can use to see if it is the mouse, rather than the computer? If the second mouse works properly, try rep-pairing Magic Mouse.

I finally got Windows 7 on my iMac and am using FusionVM. I installed one of my favorite games and the mouse goes soooooo slow I cannot use the game. Any suggestions? I am using the mouse that came with the iMac, magic mouse(??).

I have already tried that. The mouse speed on the iMac is good. The mouse speed in other Windows7 programs is good. The problem arose when I tried to play Zuma's Revenge using Windows7. This is the first game I have loaded since setting up the virtual machine.

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

Magic Mouse issues after updating to iTunes 11

Just updated to iTunes 11, and immediately after installing I have been losing Bluetooth connection to my Magic Mouse. This usually happens when I click on an icon in my dock to launch an App. Specifically, most often when I am launching iTunes. I've ruled out a battery issue, as I've replaced them and it doesn't make a difference. I've even cleared my PRAM at startup (CMD+OPT+P+R at startup), since I saw this suggested for similar Magic Mouse issues not related to iTunes. Resetting the ram made no difference in my case.
I've had the Magic Mouse for 2+ years, and this has never been an issue before. In fact, I've never had any connection issues with the mouse that weren't related to weak batteries, and everything was working great until I installed iTunes 11. Just wondering if others have had this issue since upgrading to iTunes 11, and if so, how it was corrected?

Hi, I've not had this issue, but iTunes 11 does seem to be doing something to my Magic Mouse. For example within iTunes 11 I can no longer swipe forwards and backwards. Not sure if there is some kind of hitch with the new iTunes software and the Magic Mouse firmware?

Mouse issues on an iMac

I hope this is the correct forum. I didn't see mouse under the hardware area. I have iMac 2.8Ghz. I originally installed the blue tooth mighty mouse. After about 2 months usage, I lost the ability to scroll either direction (only down, no up). I check preferences and the scroll either direction option is checked.
I plugged in the USB mouse that came with the computer and it is a bit wild. It seems to have a mind of it's own and jumps around the screen occasionally.
1. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong with the mighty mouse and fixes?
2. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is happening with the USB mouse.
Being a recent convert from Windows, my knowledge base defaults to what the problem might be (drivers usually on Windows), but I'm not sure where to start on the Mac.

Thanks for quick response. For clarity, the whole system is just about 2 months old. Not sure how dirty it can get in that short time.
Question: Use the same lint free cloth like using on lens?
Not on a shiny surface. Was using on a black mouse pad. Now I'm only using the surface of the desk. Med brown color, like a med walnut in color.

Magic Mouse only works with Mobee Rechargeable

I have had a Magic Mouse for years. I don't recall how long. A couple of years ago I bought the Mobee Magic Charger and have mostly been happy with it. However, lately I cannot get my Magic Mouse to work with anything BUT the Mobee rechargeable unit. Normal batteries won't turn it on.
Anyone have ideas of what could be wrong?

After the initial full charge of the battery pack I get nothing. The green light is steady. However, when I power on the magic mouse and try to pair it with my iMac, it never connects. Also, the green light on the mouse itself is no longer lighting up.
Does it not blink when you flip the switch off then on?
Some people have complained about not being able to re-pair after a battery change. Smc and/or pram reset might help here but don't bother since you apparently have a bigger problem to solve.
And if that weren't enough, the battery pack is stuck and I cannot remove it from the mouse. The mouse was working just perfectly when I was using the AA alkaline batteries. Am I missing something? Or is this a defect in the product?
Defect in the battery pack perhaps. I would call Mobee and ask them for their opinion. Maybe the batteries were defective and swelled in the case (just guessing).

I tried all of the suggestions, sort of. I did not have alcohol wipes, but I did take alcohol and pour some ona white paper towel and then rolled the mouse touch ball aroound and that finally cleared up the problem. Just inverting it on paper did not do the reick, it needed some help with the alcohol. Of course the probelm is the debris that gets inside and it really needs to come out.
This is a huge problem for RIM devices users too.

No, neither the first nor the second gen iPad supports a mouse - there is no cursor for a mouse to control, all you have on the iPad is an insertion point when entering or amending text

I am having problems with my optical corded mouse that came with my iMac (it's about 2 years old) It stops working periodically, and I can't figure out how to fix it; doesn't look like I can open it to clean it, or anything like that.

The little tracball may work scrolling down a page, but not up, sometimes, and I have yet to figure out how to fix it, or why it happens at all. Turn the mouse upside down and run it (vigorously) over a piece of paper. Better yet, run it over a microfiber cloth.

it will work. Scrolling works with Leopard. +Momentum Scrolling+ makes the scroll continue a bit after you stop the motion with your finger, like the action has "momentum." Snow Leopard is required for that feature to work.
