  • My magic mouse keeps jumping all over the page

Hi, my magic mouse keeps jumping all over the page and random apps keep appearing on my screen when I'm in facebook and it keeps sliding onto my dashboard screen.

Thanks so much for replying Barry.  Did what you said but took me 6 attempts to be able to reply to you so unfortunately did not work.  Have to wait over a week to get into Apple store so I guess I've just got to wait.  This is my second magic mouse and its driving me crazy.  Touch pad also playing up but thanks for the advice and have a good day.

  • Bluetooth Mught Mouse keeps on disconnecting - why?

For some reason my wireless Mighty Mouse keeps on disconnecting from my 24" Imac. the keyboard doesn't. I have to manually re-connect each time and I was wondering if anyone knew a fix for this.
    Thank you!

    Is it a USB mouse?
1.Press W + R keys to open Run menu and in the blank space type in
devmgmt.msc and press the Enter key to launch Device Manager.
2.In the Device Manager window, find the item or items labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers." Open it, and double-click the first item called "USB Root Hub."
3.In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog, click on the "Power Management" tab.
4."Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked by default. Uncheck this box, and click "OK."

As of this morning I am not able to scroll using Magic Mouse in MS Word for Mac 2011 (V14.4.5) on a MacAir with Yosemite (V10.10). It seems to be isolated to MS Word. Any thoughts?

Have tried suggestions from here and elsewhere but scrolling not working for me (in Word only!) on magic mouse or trackpad.

  • Why does magic mouse keep disconnecting?

I've got an Apple Magic Mouse  that is less than one year old and it keeps disconnecting from my Mac Mini.  It just started doing it.  I've put in fresh batteries and restarted the computer.   I've got all the latest operating system software.   Nothing is out of date.   Every couple of minutes it just randomlly disconnects then reconnects and so on, over and over again.  It's only about 2 feet away from my Mac Mini.
    Anybody know what to do?
    Thanks.
    David

I thank you for your help, Ascendi, but I have no idea what you're saying.  I'm guessing I stand alone, because others do understand.  What I got from it was that the batteries don't fit snuggly, and to shove aluminum foil... somewhere.  I'm don't have a PhD in battery terminal dimensions and their terminonolgy.  But I do appreciate that you helped.
David / Flashkube2... EXACTLY!  After years and years with my wonderful white Magic Mouse, just today the exact same thing started happening, only I was losing connection every 20 seconds.  Half the time, I'd get it back.  I feared it was a Bluetooth error, or a hacker was "stealing my juice"  So I got online here, read this stuff, wiggled my batteries around (for years and years, I've only used Duracel), and for the last 10 minutes, I have kept connection with Mr. Mouse and Mr. Mac.  Keep your fingers crossed!
So if this problem arises again, I just stuff aluminum foil in there?  (I'll be a wee bit neater than "stuff").  Speak "positive terminal" and "negative terminal" and "top of the batteries" to me, because "depth of the recess" and "vernier caliper" are Chinese to me.  Does "battery recess" mean how the two batteries sit in its casing?
Maybe I just didn't have enough coffee this morning.  I'm not ususally shtooo-pid.  (don't go there!)

  • TS3048 magic mouse keeps dropping out

The mouse keeps droping out of teh 2004 imac and teh 2007 mac book pro.  will re-establish with trouble.  works for a bit and drops out or disconnects again.  logitech cheapy works perfectly.  no trouble with the key pad at the moment.  batteries new and at 100%  any ideas or is it dead after two years?

After a period of enforced rest such as you describe it is likely that any soiling that was present at the point of packing it away, would have set more rigidly.   Your Mouse needs a thorough clean, Inside battery compartment, the contacts, battery terminals, sensor, mouse pad, the lot.    This document gives other hints and tips too.    Pay particular attention to any environmental changes like repositioning of electronic items.   Preferably insert new, good quality batteries.
The replacement cost for a Magic mouse is around £50 ($69, I believe).

  • My Magic mouse keeps grabbing items and won't let go.  What do I do?

When I click on an item with the Magic Mouse, it grabs and holds on to that item.  I cannot figure out how to make it let go.  I have tried restarting the mouse and also restarting my mac.  Nothing is working.  Any ideas?  It was all working fine up until about an hour ago.  Thanks!

This has happened to several people in the last several weeks with iBooks.  Reboot your iPad.  Hold the power and home buttons for at least 10 seconds (keep holding past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will reset.  When it comes back up, I'm betting iBooks will be there..........

  • Magic mouse continues to disconnect

This hasn't happened to me until now. The mouse gets disconnected every few hours, and the batteries and power are fine. I have to put my computer to sleep mode and restart it to regain the connection. It also happens when I gently hit the magic mouse on the mouse pad.

Have you tried making it a favorite?
System Preferences>Bluetooth - highlight the mouse and then click on the 'cog' at the bottom left side of the window and select 'add to favorites' (you may need to select 'Show more info' first in order to be able to choose Add to favorites).
This fixed it for me when I was experiencing the same problem - added the keyboard as a favorite as well, even though that wasn't playing up.

  • Magic Mouse keep scratching the table!

    Hi,
I've got a Magic Mouse for just about 4 months, and realised recently that it had been scratching my tables, and also only to realise that the Apple Marque had worn off quite a fair bit because of the table surface touching scratching through the bottom aluminium battery cover plate.
Is this usual or I actually got defect products?
    Kindly advise.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Eric Seah

Thanks Ralph, I was equally surprised as well.
The reason of me posting in the Apple Support forum is because I actually went to the Mac Service Centre and they mentioned that it is 'normal' that it will scratch on the table. I personally felt it is like a manufacturing defect some sort, but they said it is usual hence my action to post it in the forum and see what other users' experience is.
If that's the case, I'll probably forward this Apple Online support then since I bought it online.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Eric Seah

  • How to pan using magic mouse in Autocad 2012 for Mac?

Hi. I'm loving Autocad 2012 on my Macbook Pro Retina (although, it is not yet supporting Retina Display). The problem is, I want to be able to pan using magic mouse but, there seems to be no option for this. If I use two finger swipe, it switches between desktops.

I'm disliking the navigating too, but instead of the spacebar, I have to hold down the Command button at the same time. The problem with that is it takes me out of Model Space and into Paper Space. Two double clicks to get back in and all is well, but it took a while, and when you're concentrating on eg, dimensioning, you don't always notice.
Re: inactive windows. No zooming, but side to side movement is ok. A fix would be nice.
My other problem bugged me so much I went out and got a (insert feeling of embarassment here) Logitech wheel mouse, and that was trying to control the zoom rate. When it's set as slow as possible, it's too slow for everything else and when it's in AutoCAD, it's ok but most of the time it takes 3 or 4 swipes on the scroll to get it to move. The wheel mouse was ok, but zoom control doesn't work well, even tho it's an expensive mouse, and exchanging it for a new one brought the same problem. (let go of the wheel and it bounces back a little...or a lot... from the direction in which you zoomed). I think I'll take the magic mouse...

  • Why does my Magic Mouse keep losing connection?

I've had my Magic Mouse for about 6 months now. I use it with my MacBook Pro RD. It works fine most of the time but every now and then it would lose connection for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. This happens even with newly replaced batteries so I know it's not a battery problem. I really expected better from what I thought would be a high quality mouse from Apple.
I am thinking of sending it back to be repaired or something, but when I entered its serial number to check the warranty status, I get the error "We're sorry, but this serial number is not valid. Please check your information and try again." In fact, the serial number printed on my mouse's battery compartment has 17 characters but the support page here only allows you to enter a 14-character serial number! What is going on?

I was having the same problem and found another thread with the solution. Basically the problem is some batteries do not fit tightly in the compartment and jiggle around causing the mouse to lose power and therefore the connection. The solution is either buy the apple rechareable batteries or wedge a piece of paper in between the batteries and the compartment lid (I used a bit on an index card fold over on itself). Once I did that = no more lost connection every 10 minutes.
The thread I'm referring to is here:

Posting in case someone else (like I did) comes here looking for an answer.

  • Magic Mouse causes WiFi disconnect

I'm using a Macbook Pro 2009, running OSX Lion 10.7.4. The use of a Magic Mouse causes my Macbook to disconnect from my WiFi. When using a Magic Mouse, I am frequently disconnected from my wireless network — once every few minutes.
Upon switching to a conventional, corded mouse, I don't experience any problem.
I also use a bloothtooth Apple wireless keyboard, without any problems.

Sometimes bluetooth interfers with wifi because they operate on the same 2.4Ghz band.  Try a lower channel number (1-3) on your wifi router.

  • MY MAGIC MOUSE HAS CONKED OUT, FOR NO APPARENT REASON.  IS IT WORTH TAKING IT IN FOR ANALYSIS/REPAIR?

My Magic Mouse has stopped functioning.  Batteries are fresh, green light on, but the computer can't find it. Is it worth taking in for analysis and/or repair?

    Hello Angler42,
Yosemite has proved a problem for many people as far as the Magic mouse is concerned.  It appears to apply more often to older computers that have been upgraded.    Here is an Apple document which is worth studying and putting on file for future reference.  I can't commit to it solving your problem but let us know how you get on.

    Thank you for the star.

  • Apple magic mouse keeps losing connection with Macbook pro

I have a 2012 macbook pro, after upgrading to Mavericks(10.9.1, not have any other 3rd party software, just pure OS X), my magic mouse always losing bluetooth connection suddenly every one or two days. When losing connection, I found the bluetooth chipset type showing in macbook system information changed to unkown (FFFF). I have contacted with apple global support, and also have not gotten the solution. Just cleaning cache, and ect. but still didn't work.
When I downgrading the OS X to 10.8.5 Mountain Lion, same macbook, same magic mouse, work very well. Never happened lose connection issue during one and a half month.  So, it should be a Mavericks bluetooth driver's issue, or something reletived.
Any body have some good idea in solving this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem with a 2007 MacBook Pro on Snow Leopard. As soon as I changed the mouse's batteries, it started losing connection every few seconds. The mouse came with Energizer batteries originally - they supposedly don't fit well, but the mouse worked fine. I exchanged them with Duracell, which gave problems. Now I have Varta batteries installed, they give problems too. The paper-trick doesn't work for me.
Quite franky, I think it's rediculous that a fancy €69,- wireless mouse is so fussy about batteries. It's impossible to work with it. Is this just another way for Apple to get people to buy their batteries? I think a mouse this expensive should accept any and all batteries. Please, Apple: fix it. Seems like a really simple matter. Just put longer and stronger springs in the contacts for the negative poles.
    Thanks.

  • My wireless mouse keeps being disconnected.

Whilst i am using the computer  , my mouse will suddenly stop working and a window will appear to tell me my mouse connection as been lost. I then have to give it a few minutes then it connects again. It seems to be getting more and more frequent as the days go on. It has been playing up for about a week now. I am not sure  what to do. Please help. The computer is a MAC PRO bought in 2010.

Do a google search for "magic mouse looses connection", and terms like that.  There are many repeated discussions on this topic.
