Magic Mouse + MagicPrefs Problem

I recently got a Magic Mouse and installed MagicPrefs, but when I try to use any keyboard shortcuts on it they don't work. I'm mainly trying to use Command T and Command W to easily open and close tabs in my web browser. I've tried different browsers, keyboard shortcuts, and gestures and none of them help. Has anybody else had this issue or know how to fix it?

There seems to have been an update and that fixed it.

  • Magic mouse click problem.

    Hi all,
Couldnt find any solution yet for my problem.
It is always either not click or in click(can see the dragging box).
No problem with connecting & tracking.
    I'm using iMac

    Hi decavalera,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you are having an issue with the clicking on your Magic Mouse, please follow the troubleshooting steps in the attached article.
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048
Mouse buttons do not work as expected.
The Mouse preference pane allows users to customize the mouse features to meet their needs.
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Mouse from the View menu. Set the Tracking slider to adjust how fast the pointer moves as you move the mouse.
Try using a different surface to see if the tracking improves.
Turn the mouse over and inspect the sensor window. Use compressed air to gently clean the sensor window if dust or debris is present.
If multiple Bluetooth wireless devices are in use nearby, try turning them off one at a time to see if the issue improves. Bandwidth intensive devices could affect tracking.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Magic mouse bluetooth problem

I have a blutooth dongle on my mac. As batteries were getting low in my Magic Mouse I removed the old batteries and put in new charged ones, something I have done numerous times before without a problem. On this occasion I cannot get the mouse to pair with my computer for some reason. I have checked using Bluetooth Explorer and the dongle is shown as active. (The Blutooth provided in the Mac is useless hence the dongle) Any suggestions?

You can only pair it with one machine at a time.  So you have to unpair it with one machine before yoou can pair it with the other.

  • Magic Mouse accessibility problem

Have discovered an accessibility problem with the Magic Mouse. My right hand middle (right click) finger is heavily bandaged at the moment. Mouse will not accept right clicks, even all the way on the edge. Interprets them as left/single button click. Went to Universal Access in System Preferences, and there is no solution. This seems like an obvious issue for people with prosthetics, so I don't understand why Apple designers missed this.

    yerdle,
It's not the best of solutions but you can hold the Control key down while you click and it will perform a right click.

  • Magic Mouse Clicking Problems

Hello, I've just noticed that the far right side of my Magic Mouse stopped to trigger a proper click, thus I cant really make right clicks any more, only if I press it down quite strongly. My Magic Mouse is now a few months old and I've actually never experienced any problems before.
I could imagine that dust and dirt accumulated in this small slit that goes around the mouse prevents the click. Is there any way to open the Magic Mouse in order to clean it?

I got exactly the same problem, but the folded paper solution did not work.
    ¿Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your time

  • Magic mouse switching problem

I have a magic mouse about twelve months old. It periodically switches off. Problem: when switched on the light comes on for about 3 secs then it starts 2 flashes every sec. Have tried new batts, shaking, clicking, tapping and all usual things but no go. It seems softwarde related but what. any suggestions please?

    Hello:
If the mouse turns itself off it is probably faulty.  If it is still inside the one year warranty, get in touch with Apple at once.

  • Magic mouse range problems

    Hi all,
I am having difficulties with my new Mac mini in regards to my magic mouse.
The problem is it works fine right next to the machine but as soon as I move it onto my bedside table (barely more than 1.5meters away) it will stop working. Surely it is not out of range as apple website quotes '33 feet' as the range.
Is there a fix for this? There isn't anything interfering as far as I know. Batteries are fresh, perhaps the mouse itself is faulty?
Please help its driving me crazy!
    Thanks,
    CJ

Do you think I will have the same problems with a magic trackpad?
That's what I would expect, but maybe the trackpad has a better radio. The only way to find out would be to test. A better approach would be to try to eliminate or reduce the interference.

  • HT1365 Magic mouse connection problem

Hello, I have a problem with the magic mouse for my imac constantly connecting and loosing connection. Batteries are 100% and the keyboard stays connected no problem.
The computor is brand new. Any ideas people?

From scanning the forums, there seem to be two suggested approaches to fixing this.
Make sure your batteries fit tightly- the Apple rechargeables tend to fit OK, but some others can connect loosely. Try a folded piece of paper between the batteries and under the battery door to hold them snugly in place.
Remove any possible sources of interference in the 2.4Ghz band- Move your DECT phone further away. Switch to 5GHz wifi for the macbook and phones or ipad if you can. If needs be, turn off possible sources of interference in this frequency range in your location one by one until you can isolate the problem.
This has been a problem on and off for a year or so.
I've just tried the bit of paper, and it does seem to be helping so far- fingers crossed.
    Good luck

  • Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse (Bluetooth) Problems

    Hi folks,
I recently got a new Mac Mini, wireless keyboard (Apple) and Magic Mouse. During high LAN activity, the keyboard and Magic Mouse will often lose connection and will have trouble re-connecting even when LAN activity goes back to basal levels. If they do not lose connection, the performance becomes terrible and both lag significantly during use.
This behavior does not happen on my MacBook Pro.

    Other things to check-
Do you have anything on top of your mini, or is the top of the mini under a desk or other obstruction? The bluetooth antenna is (as you are looking from the top down at the mini) to the top right of the Apple logo on the plastic case top. Try clearing any clutter (if there is any), or establish a clear line of sight with your keyboard and mouse to the unexposed top of the mini and see if the dropouts occur.
Also, microwaves wreck havoc with bluetooth. Any machinery in the same room as your mini and keyboard/mouse?

  • Magic mouse scrolling problems

My magic mouse no longer scrolls up or down, and it cannot swipe forward and back on webpages either.  Also, it randomly zooms in (without me pressing anything on the mouse).  I have checked all the settings in the preferences and all the checkboxes are correct.  This was all working fine up until about 2 weeks ago - not sure what's gone wrong.  Can anyone help with fixing this - be much appreciated as it's driving me mad.
    Thanks
    Graeme

Get a USB mouse first of all
-then go into the bluetooth prefs
    -removed the mouse
    -re-add it then test it
    -same issue
-then try a different user account
-if same issue is there test the mouse in recovery (CMD + R) it will look like setting the mac up again
-if issue happneds there the mouse is screwed - if it works then reinstall the OS

  • Magic Mouse tracking problem

OK...it's all pretty and shiny so I bought it. Installed the mouse software update to Snow Leopard and though it appears to be installed just fine, the tracking rate is SLOWWWWWWW, even though I have it set to the highest tracking setting.
With my Wireless Mighty Mouse on a new 24" LED Cinema it takes no more than two inches of mouse travel on the pad to go from one side of the monitor to the other with the pointer. With the Magic Mouse my mouse pad isn't wide enough! Seriously, with the tracking set to maximum for both mice the Magic Mouse moves about 3/4 way across my monitor when traveling the entire nine inches of my mouse pad.
The Mighty Mouse was already bad enough at this (it had to be on the max tracking setting) but this isn't right. Unless someone has a fix this goes back to the store (it's already out of use). Thanks.

Yes...fully understand the concept of acceleration, but it's still not working properly for me. It is definitely better after I changed the tracking limit to "5" in Terminal, but the left-right distance on my 24" monitor is still nearly all the width of my mouse pad, where it is about two inches with the Mighty Mouse.
I use SteerMouse only for it's Snap-To feature (something Apple simply has never done in all these years) but it's a pref pane and I've completely uninstalled it trying to make a difference, but it doesn't. In fact, it also has a tracking increase feature that also helps a little...but just not enough.

  • New macbook pro with magic mouse connection problems

Just bought a new Macbook Pro with a new magic mouse, the device won't connect via bluebooth, I always get two messages "the device does not have the proper requirements" or something like that and "there was an error connecting".

  • Magic Mouse ergonomic problems

Just bought my first Mac 3 days ago. Since I haven't learned the keyboard navigation sequences yet, I'm using the Magic Mouse more than I'd like for resizing and moving windows on the desktop. I've had RMI issues in the past, but have generally avoided those issues by using a small mouse. The shape and size of the Magic Mouse and the comparatively stiff spring cause me aching forearms. For now, I've parked the Magic Mouse away and am using a small USB-connected travel mouse without pain.
Is there any way to program the Magic Mouse to "click" as a tap on the surface, rather than a full press? I would like to avoid wasting a USB port on the mouse.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Brian

That allowed me to speed up the USB mouse enough to actually be useful. Have you been able to get the "tap for click" feature to work for Magic Mouse with BetterTouchTool? I downloaded version 0.384 and I never got that to work, plus the Magic Mouse was even slower than before. If it worked, what settings did you use? I had to switch to left hand mousing years ago, so I might have to reverse your settings.
    Thanks,
    Brian
