Magic Mouse no Longer connects via BT

Hello All!
I have a MBP, 2.4GHz with Intel Core 2 Duo and recently upgraded to OSX 10.8.
Since the upgrade I have been having great difficulty in getting my Magic Mouse to connect via BT.
Previous to the upgrade everything worked fine, the mouse would wake the computer and connect with out any issues.
After the upgrade the mouse will not wake the computer and will only connect after I restart the computer, well that was yesterday restarts today aren't even working any more.  My BT keyboard works fine and I have no problems with waking or connecting via the BT keyboard only the mouse.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
Update:
I just finished repairing Disk Permissions - No Help
Turning Blue Tooth off then back on - No Help
Trying to manually connect the mouse - no help
New Batteries - no help
Reset the SMC - no help
Reset the PRAM - no help

I'm now on 10.8.2 and things seem to be better but not completely resolved.  After installing the last update I deleted my mouse, restarted the computer and then paired the mouse again.  Things are much better, my mouse will wake the computer now but only if the computer is asleep for a 'short' period of time.  Overnight it won't wake or connect, I generally need to use the track paid, go to the BT icon & select my mouse then hit connect.  That seems to get things going but it's still a pain.......
At least I don't have to restart the computer every time.....

  • Double Click on Magic Mouse No Longer Works after 10.9.1 Mavericks Upgrade

I just recently updated to Mavericks 10.9.1 and once the computer restarted, I noticed that double-click on my Magic Mouse no longer worked.  I searched the forum and couldn't find anyone experiencing this.  I also went into System Preferences --> Mouse but there is nothing about enabling double-click or adjusting double-click speed on there.
Would appreciate if someone were able to help me solve this.  Thanks!

    Try resetting the PRAM.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • My iPhone 5 will no longer connect via bluetooth to Fitbit Flex or wireless headset

My iPhone 5 will no longer connect via bluetooth to my Fitbit Flex aftering updating to ios 7.  Apple phone support had me completely erase and set my phone up again as new to restart bluetooth pairing, then restore again through iCloud.  Worked last night but same problem today.  It also will no longer connect to my wireless headset in my car.  Of course I'm now 5 days over my 1 year warranty as well.  Any ideas?

Delete the pairing from both devices then pair them again.

  • Magic mouse no longer swipes

I'm lost as to why this has happened; it seems like a software problem rather than a hardware, but my magic mouse no longer swipes to go forward and backward between webpages.
Yes, the option is turned on in System Preferences. I've tried turning it off and on, to no avail.
Regular scrolling still works fine, which is why it leads me to believe its something software related.

Happened once to me. A restart of the Mac solved. Never occurred again.

  • Magic mouse no longer recognized

    Hello everyone,
I have my 2009 mac pro about 13 feet away from my keyboard and magic mouse, and though it would connect via bluetooth, it was very laggy and at times unresponsive, so I purchased an IOGEAR GBU421, plugged it into my USB hub that sits next to my keyboard, and its been working GREAT for the past 5 months! However today the mac does not recognize the magic mouse when using this bluetooth adapter.
Of course I replaced the batteries, repaired disk permissions, even removed the magic mouse from my bluetooth devices, and it still wont connect with the IOGEAR, regardless of if its plugged into the USB hub, or the mac directly. I then tried connecting the mouse via the mac's built in bluetooth, and it works fine.
I dont know whats going on! I've contacted IOGEAR and they say its "probably a conflict with the bluetooth on your mac." They are willing to exchange the unit, but before doing that I'm wondering if there is anything I can do on my end to see if its indeed a conflict with the bluetooth on my mac.
    Thanks!

I can suggest you try the standard simple techniques usually posted to questions like this by trying a smc and pram reset.  If those don't work then here's my usual reply to this situation, i.e., reset the BT back to "factory settings" and try to re-pair.
Incidentally I also use a IOGEAR GBU421 (plugged into the back of my 27" ACD) and have been since last Christmas when I bought it on sale at Fry's.  It works although about maybe 15 to 25% of the time my mac pro is a little slow reacquiring it after waking from sleep.  In those cases I have to flip the mouse switch to essentially tell my machine "look over here stupid" :-)

  • Apple magic mouse keeps losing connection with Macbook pro

I have a 2012 macbook pro, after upgrading to Mavericks(10.9.1, not have any other 3rd party software, just pure OS X), my magic mouse always losing bluetooth connection suddenly every one or two days. When losing connection, I found the bluetooth chipset type showing in macbook system information changed to unkown (FFFF). I have contacted with apple global support, and also have not gotten the solution. Just cleaning cache, and ect. but still didn't work.
When I downgrading the OS X to 10.8.5 Mountain Lion, same macbook, same magic mouse, work very well. Never happened lose connection issue during one and a half month.  So, it should be a Mavericks bluetooth driver's issue, or something reletived.
Any body have some good idea in solving this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem with a 2007 MacBook Pro on Snow Leopard. As soon as I changed the mouse's batteries, it started losing connection every few seconds. The mouse came with Energizer batteries originally - they supposedly don't fit well, but the mouse worked fine. I exchanged them with Duracell, which gave problems. Now I have Varta batteries installed, they give problems too. The paper-trick doesn't work for me.
Quite franky, I think it's rediculous that a fancy €69,- wireless mouse is so fussy about batteries. It's impossible to work with it. Is this just another way for Apple to get people to buy their batteries? I think a mouse this expensive should accept any and all batteries. Please, Apple: fix it. Seems like a really simple matter. Just put longer and stronger springs in the contacts for the negative poles.
    Thanks.

  • Magic Mouse Can't connect to my Macbook Air mid 2013

    Hello,
    Can anyone help me please?
Well, I have Macbook Air 13 inch Mid 2013 and it is connected to the internet by thunderbolt to Ethernet cable, i have also iphone 6 plus and i'm sharing internet from my macbook, however, recent days it does not connect, i mean, when i'm sharing internet my magic mouse connects to the macbook and disconnects after 2-3 seconds. i tried to repair the  the disc from disk utilities, it started to work properly and then it stopped.  Now when i closed my wi-fi, magic mouse started working properly. when i open it and started internet sharing, it is closing...  Please help if you can )))

Since Bluetooth and wifi is on the same 2.4Ghz frequency, using both at the same time, with the wifi chip constantly on (when creating a wifi network)(whereas when using the wifi as a receiver, the wifi chip isn't stressed much), causes interference. It is "normal". It's just that the Bluetooth technology is not very smart. This issue was already seen 16 years ago, when bluetooth got introduced.

  • Magic Mouse will not 'connect' to iMac

I have a 27" iMac with wireless Magic Mouse, both purchased in November2009. My keyboard is USB.
Todaywhen I started the iMac, it would not 'connect' with the mouse. I resorted to a USB mouse to open Mouse Preferences and got a window that indicates the iMac is searching for a Bluetooth mouse, but "No mouse found".
I have new batteries in the mouse and the green light shows it is working; however, the preferences do not allow the battery status to be shown since the iMac is not 'connected'.
To confirm the batteries are indeed OK, I connected the mouse to my Mac Book, and the mouse works fine with the Mac Book -- shows the batteries to be 100%.
What could be the reason the iMac does not recognize the mouse?

    Hello:
I see you are OK now.
You might want to make the mouse a favorite.

  • Can no longer connect via serial port

    Hi all,
I am an administrator for forty-eight Solaris servers scattered around the world, I have remote console connectivty via Cisco 2821 terminal servers. Recently all the devices were moved to new terminal servers but I can no longer get remote console connectivity to fourteen of them. Most of the servers just give a blank line. I have had the port and cable changed on two of them with no joy. One of the servers was local so I risked a reboot (didn't fancy rebooting one of the distant ones as hands-and-eyes support staff are difficult to get hold of and these are production boxes.). While connected via IP I attempted a reboot, after 20minutes of waiting I decided I'd have to connect directly with my laptop, when I connected the machine was waiting for an ilom login. After logging in and completing the boot the server was working fine and I could connect via the terminal server.
The boxes are Sun 5220's and I am running Solaris 10.
Any help would be greatfully received as I really don't fancy trying to reboot the other thirteen boxes with nobody onsite...
    Cheers,
    Mark T.

    Answered my own question:
opened another terminal window and used the command killall ssh to abort the previous session.
Still don't know why it won't login to my server.

  • Magic mouse no longer works after Lion upgrade

After upgrading to Lion my magic mouse failed to work. I plugged in an older USB mouse and thankfully it does work. It appears the System Preference for Blue Tooth no longer has my machine name in it, instead it has "Name not available" and the "On" check box will not stay checked when I reopen the preference. The syncing process "Set Up New Device..." doesn't seem to work either, it searches but doesn't find eventually the flashing LED on the mouse goes out.
I've tried to solve this but failed. I believe its something wrong with the installation of Lion on my iMac because I installed Lion on my lap top and the magic mouse WILL sync with it.
What do you suggest I do to remedy this situation?

Solved it myself. Re installed Lion.
    Thanks Radio for your help

  • Magic mouse no longer working in Windows 7

Hi, I posted a topic under the Windows section but got no answer. When I first installed Windows 7 on my Mac (Sorry poor Mac but I had to), my Magic Mouse worked seamlessly with Windows until recently, I booted up in Se7en and my mouse no longer worked, I can't find any trace of bluetooth peripherals on the computer, in "Administration tools" and "Hardware manager" (or whatever it's called) I can't see a sign of my Broadcom Bluetooth adaptor. The bluetooth drivers are installed and I can see that in "Add or remove programs" so I don't know how to fix this. I already tried reinstalling the drivers from the boot camp DVD, and I also uninstalled Boot Camp, reinstalled it and updated it. Nothing works. If you have any ideas apart reinstalling Windows I would really appreciate because using my trackpad on a desk while having a Magic Mouse on the side (especially in Windows the trackpad *****) is driving me nuts. Thanks

    Hi eg1978
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having issues with your two finger scrolling. I have a couple of things for you to try. This HP document Using and Configuring the TouchPad has a section on Turning individual gestures off and on and make sure that the two finger scrolling is enabled. If that does work then reinstall your Synaptics TouchPad Driver.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue.

  • Magic Mouse still not connecting on Bootcamp 3.1 with Windows 7

I had windows 7 ultimate x64 running on Bootcamp the last few months and was thrilled to see that the last update would work with my shiny new magic mouse.
To my disappointment it didn't. I tried reinstalling the update (x64 version of it) a few times, and manually deleting the drivers related to bluetooth and mouse from the control panel so it would make a clean reinstall, but without any luck... I followed every instruction, rebooted a zillion times and still nothing.
It detects the mouse on bluetooth devices, it even knows it's mine (has my name on it), but keeps on trying to connect forever...
    Anybody has this problem?

    All,
Here's how I got it to work:
Go to Device Manager > Bluetooth Radios > Generic Bluetooth Adapter
Right click > Update Driver Software > "Browse my computer for driver software" > "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
    Uncheck "Show compatible hardware"
Under Manufacturer select > "Apple Inc."
Select the "Apple Built-in BluetootDFU" and click "Next" a bunch of times.
Then, go to the Bluetooth Icon in the system tray or in the control panel. Turn off the Magic Mouse before you try to discover the device. It should do it's thing automagically and come right up after you turn the Magic Mouse back on.
At least these are the steps that worked for me.
The problem I'm seeing is that the mouse stops responding if you're not constantly moving it. I'm going to try the different Bluetooth adapters from "Apple Inc." to see which one works best.

  • Magic Mouse no longer pairing

I used a Magic Mouse successfully with my Mini for a month. I've given the computer to my wife, and it no longer wants to pair. When I turn it on, the green light comes on for a while, then goes off into a "two blink, silent, two blink, silent" routine.
The Bluetooth Setup Assistant says, "No mice have been found. Make sure your mouse is "discoverable"."
I have had it working with her computer, but often from sleep or reboot the pairing is broken.
I've also paired it with two other computers, which wasn't an issue initially. Do I need to make it unlearn something? What do the two blinks together mean? Any ideas what changed when I handed the computer over that could unpair the mouse? It is using a new monitor and keyboard, but that's the only significant change.
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with my new 27" iMac. Maybe I'm a dunce, but Apple's (and many users'/posters') solutions to a non-responding/non-pairing mouse seem to be some variation of "Select X from the X menu" or "Turn on/off/open System Preferences/whatever. How do you select ANYTHING when you don't have a movable/clickable mouse cursor to select WITH? And yes, I've installed fresh batteries, clicked on and off, restarted, and still the mouse is NOT paired -- when I turn on the not-so-magic mouse, the green light blinks like crazy, but I get no screen message, no pairing, no nothing. Someone please wise me up to what I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks!
    Bart
