Magic Mouse randomly "micro scrolls" when moving
I just bought a magic mouse to replace an older might mouse and it's exhibiting a new odd phenomenon. when moving around in web pages or in Mail, it occasionally scrolls a bit (~5 lines of text worth) in a window. when it does this i don't have any fingers on the touch surface (i've started to experiment to see what exactly causes this behavior) so I'm not "accidentally scrolling".
is anyone else experiencing this same behavior?
Ditto on the complaints. I am very frustrated. I'll be working in Aperture, for example, with an album of several hundred photos I am in the process of rating. As I go to reach for the mouse to click on a particular photo, the mouse activates a scrolling function and POOF!... I'm at the top of my photo album, forced to scroll many rows of photos to get to that one I was about to click on. Google Maps is useless as well. iTunes also sporadically scrolls through music. My productivity is noticeably hindered by this phenomenon. As a result, I find myself grabbing the mouse like a fragile egg- just on its sides to prevent accidental scrolling.

Magic Mouse a bit sluggish when moved diagonally?
Hi,
I just connected a Magic Mouse to my Macbook Pro, it appears to me that the tracking is a bit sluggish when moved diagonally, that is, when i move the mouse diagonally it appears to object to the notion and instead move either vertically or horizontally for a moment and then kick in moving vertically. This is more apparent when moving short distances than long ones.
Is it possible my magic mouse is defective? or that it requires additional setup/calibration?

Does anyone have a random zooming in and out on the Magic Mouse? Not as in the Control+Scroll zoom, but like if you pinch and drag on something.
Occasionally my mouse decides to do this, which a)would be great if I could actually pinch and zoom and b) is really distracting when it happens by itself.
Any ideas?Magic mouse activates the 'scroll wheel zoom' when you touch the mouse almost anywhere. I found it too annoying. Apple needs to update the software to recognize scrolling as a gesture. I hope Apple does an update, because right now I'm stuck with using a clunky but reliable Dell mouse, as my Mighty Mouse is also unreliable.

Magic mouse won't scroll on snow leopard
I bought an imac two weeks ago (snow leopard)- and my magic mouse won't scroll! I do not seem to have the USB overdrive installed, I have all the latest software! Help!
The ball is dirty, they have a history of accumulating dirt and grime on them so that's my best guess. When I used one what worked well was rolling the ball very very vigorously on a white sheet of paper on a hard flat surface. Do this for about 60 seconds then see if that took care of it.
NOTE: My error I misread and thought you wrote Mighty Mouse. Please disregard. -
Magic Mouse won't scroll on my ppc
Just got the Magic Mouse for my G5 PowerMac, I got it connected via a USB device, only problem is the scroll is not working at all. I'm running 10.5.8 and updated the mouse software but still no luck.
I've used USB Overdrive in the past but in this case it does nothing as the 'scroll' on the Magic is not a button as such.
Like I said I ran the Lepoard mouse update with no change, I've tried a number of thing and restarted the G5 more time yesterday than I have in the last year.
I like the Magic Mouse especially the scroll and swipe features (I've used in store), guess I'll have to wait for my new iMac to make full use of it and make sure that it comes with the Magic Touch Pad when I order it. -
I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and am using Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 version 14.4.5. My magic mouse no longer scrolls in word - though I can click on things with the magic mouse. And the magic mouse scrolls in safari and outlook. Any thoughts?
I had the same problem. I just quit Word and restarted and it worked. I tried with a new document just to try it at first and when that worked, I tried it on the document I was working on and it was fixed!

We just upgraded our system to Maverick. Now our majic mouse does not respond to the finger swipe at all.
Also the volume contro;s stopped working on the wireless keyboard.Hi davidgraham193,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your Magic Mouse is not scrolling, first go to the Mouse section of System Preferences and try toggling the "Scroll direction: natural" checkbox to see if it has an effect.
Scroll direction: natural:
Select this option to move the contents of a window the same direction as your fingers.

Magic mouse will not scroll horizontally
We need far more information.
Has it previously scrolled horizontally? Is the fault restricted to certain browsers or program facilities? What machine are you using it on? Has this problem appeared following an OS upgrade. -
