Magic Mouse spontaneous rotation

Hi.
My Magic Mouse works fine except for a couple of situations. The problem happens while playing video games (Spec Ops, Sanctum 2, Metro: Last Light), all first person shooters. From the moment I begin the game, the mouse starts moving left infinitely. It happens on menus and during game, which makes the game impossible to play from the first second. I tried the same games with my Playstation 3 controller (and the magic mouse off) and everything was great.
All the games that this happen with are from Steam, but I also play other first person shooters bought on Steam (L4D2, Portal, Team Fortress 2) and everything works great. It only occurred on first person shooters so far. I also play Civilization V and there's no problem either.
Any hints on how to solve this issue?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Telmo

  • Magic Mouse User Feedback/Suggestion Box

The Magic Mouse has great esthetic appeal, the touch to scroll is employed well, the swipes will take some getting used to as it is a natural movement (at least to me). The biggest shortfall I see is the inability to assign the functions, as well as the loss of the third and fourth buttons (scroll button click, and squeeze button)
The scroll button would be easy to employ as a virtual button with a two fingered click. Clearly the device can sense the difference between one and two fingers and the motion of clicking with two fingers seems incredibly intuitive to me.
One could also conceive of having two fingered scrolling mean something different than one fingered scrolling, think Application switching, Spaces, screen zoom.
The problem with the swipe motion is you have to stop the mouse from moving side to side as you hold it, making the motion somewhat unnatural. Interestingly though pinching/spreading on the mouse would work very well, since the opposite movement of each finger keeps the mouse still and does not require you to hold the sides. So pinch/expand zooming would be a natural one too.
Two finger Rotate seems hard since again the issue of the mouse moving comes up
Apple, throw in a two finger click assignable to expose, spaces, or user choice please. Pinch Zoom too please

In addition to all those I'd really love two finger slide up gesture to go up a folder level, or customizable to show topsites in Safari maybe. Slide down gesture to open a folder or file.
There are a lot of cool gestures. If Apple could create a 'watch me' method to create our one it would defeat the need for 3rd party software which could complicate the proper navigation functions. Even if most were disabled by default it gives advanced users a chance to take advantage of it's multitouch surface, which currently barely scratches the surface.

  • Magic Mouse not so Magic

Is anyone experiencing erratic behaviour from their "Magic Mouse". I find mine is VERY sensitive and over-responds to the slightest touch. Sometimes just grazing the surface accidentally causes my document to skip through pages in a blur. Is this a malfunction (correctible) or is this normal for these infernal things.

I did not have any problems installing the new mouse driver and getting it to work, mostly by dumb luck AKA read the instructions last. Everything seems to work except the two finger scrolling through iPhoto and the rotating photos. Any ideas how to get that working or do you need a newer version of iPhoto?
In the pictures on the Apple site, I noticed that the thumbnails in iPhoto were on the right. I could not find a way of doing that with iPhoto 6. Is that another feature that only comes with the newer versions?
Like some of the other commenters, I would like to see more functionality, like a two finger click or tap on the mouse to activate an additional selectable feature.

  • Low RSSI with 2012 MBP and Magic Mouse

I have a fairly new 2012 MBP and Magic Mouse. I have been struggling with a bad Bluetooth connection for several months. I swapped out for a different MM and that didn't help, did all the reset PRAM, and wiped preferences, etc. The mouse will disconnect and re-connect spontaneously several times an hour, and from time to time the mouse stutters. Holding down the option key on my Bluetooth menu item shows that I am getting an RSSI sometimes below 60 and sometimes above. Keeping the lid open on the MBP pro helps; the MM is sitting literally inches from the computer and I still have this problem.
I am at a lose as to what to do?

    Hello Bryan Schmiedeler,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference

You will want to get your RSSI as close to 0 as possible.

  • Have to delete Magic Mouse from MacOS to pair with Windows Bootcamp

Like many I couldn't get my Magic Mouse to pair in Windows when dual booting with BootCamp to Windows 8.1 on my 2012 MacBook Air.
Whenever I searched for bluetooth devices it wouldn't be found, or would sporadically appear but fail to pair.
The solution for me was to reboot into MacOS (where my mouse had already been paired, and automatically connected) and Delete (not disconnect) the mouse from Bluetooth settings.
Then when I rebooted back into Windows the mouse was detected under Bluetooth devices and could be paired.
I hadn't found this particular solution on the forums, and so thought I'd share.

Another follow up to this.  I unpaired my Mac Mouse from Windows and gave it to a friend to try out on his Bootcamp MacBook Pro.
It unpaired from my Windows and re-paired to his Windows fine.
Then when he unpaired it from his Windows and gave it back, it wouldn't come up in the list of bluetooth devices for pairing on my Windows.  It would in his though.
The solution was to boot back into MacOS on my laptop, where the mouse spontaneously connected, and delete it there. Then I could reboot back into Windows and find the mouse under bluetooth devices for pairing in Windows again.
This was despite not having logged into MacOS for over 6 months.
It's almost like the mouse reverted to being bound to the first device it ever paired with.

  • I am unable to pan my view using my magic mouse in maya.

i am unable to pan my view using my magic mouse in maya. panning needs a middle mouse button and there is no middle mouse button in magic mouse. scrolling sideways or up and down only zooms in and out. please help.

In Maya/Preferences/Interface/Devices, click "Two button" for "Mouse tracking." That will let you use opt+click for rotating, and opt+cmd+click for panning.
If you need actual middle mouse button functionality for any of the tools, then maybe the application Better Touch Tool can help. For the trackpad it has the option "Use special middleclick mode (for CAD users)," which works with three-finger click. I am not sure whether something similar will work for the Magic Mouse.

  • Magic Mouse Grief

When I have to replace the two AA batteries in my Magic Mouse which is about once a week, I turn the thing off, replace the batteries, turn in back on, it blinks, I try clicking it once however doesn't reconnect with the iMac. I have to turn the computer off, then restart and then the mouse pairs with the computer. I have checked the Bluetooth settings, all seems OK. Any suggestions? Suspect is a defective mouse?

    Hello everyone,
I seem to be having a slightly different problem with my magic mouse to everybody else.
The mouse worked perfectly for the first month of owning my iMac - but one day, it spontaneously completely lost it's ability to connect. The light still comes on and flashes, I have new AA 1.5 batteries, I have trashed com.apple.bluetooth.plist and I have made it favourite... Is there anything else I can try? I could return it to the apple shop but it's 90 miles away from where I live and would be a bit of a pain for the sake of a mouse.
    Please somebody help!
    Many thanks

  • Cnnecting Magic Mouse to iPad

Hi - any ideas how to connect Apple Magic Mouse to iPad - I tried BT Stack and had problems so had to restore which was a pain.
Wireless keyboard works a dream - just liek mouse for couple of ERP webiste I use where you need to use mouse to get specific menu options.
    Thanks Margot

It is possible... It is useful... And it works well...
(and when apple finally standardizes the interface, the various remote apps will too.)
Apple watches the hackers and adjusts their iOS...eventually.
    • Folders were first possible on jailbroken devices.
    • SBSettings influenced the multitasking & quick controls, but apple needs to do a better job.
    • AND I hate MUTE on the IPAD!...
    • --ahh, 4.3 came out yesterday...afraid I will take the plunge for the rotate button.
    __Apple: Free suggestions__
    — mouse (already proven useful by hackers--and it gives you the option of a laptop without wires!)
    — (just give us an option to push vol up-&-down please! You did make them independent.)
    — maybe the constant "iPad" text telling me what I'm holding will now be the network SSID or IP?
    — how about Date next to time? Memory free? There's lots of wasted space on the iPad margins now.
Thanks for the opportunity...don't know if you are listening?

  • Is the magic mouse good?

I've heard some negative comments on the apple magic mouse. I was just wondering if it was worth getting for my MacBook Pro? Thanks.

I have one & have had no issues. Works great. I suspect the biggest issue for most people is how it fits/feels in your hand...that's a personal issue, but you have 14 days to try for yourself & return for a refund, if you purchase from Apple & don't like it. If you get one, get this:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC500LL/A/apple-battery-charger
    You'll be glad you did.
Fantastic advice, wj...bought that more than a year ago and it is great...always have a pair of charged batteries to insert in the wireless mouse.  Only downside tot he charger is when charging have to look to see that the batteries are positioned so they charge and the light doesn't flash...but all that is needed is to run a finger across them and rotate a little so they are picked up correctly.
But I heartily agree this is an essential item to have.

  • Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard with Bootcamp and Win XP Pro 32-bit

Does the Apple Magic Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard work with Boot Camp running Windows XP Pro (32-Bit)... I read something leading me to believe there maybe a problem and you need to use a wired USB mouse/Keyboard.
    Is this true?

Apple Wireless Keyboard is able to work in Boot Camp via Window XP Pro, it's good enough.
but the Magic Mouse, it's not able to work completely in Window XP Pro,
it's just work like a normal bluetooth wireless mouse,
all the Multi-Touch features like scroll, rotate, swipe, pinch and tap click are not gonna work,
even you are configure via the snow leopard, so please be reconsider.

  • Magic Mouse and Employing Pinch to Open and Close Feature

I have purchased a magic mouse and would like to employ the "pinch to open & close" features (option on multi-touch trackpad) with the magic mouse. This is not the same as zoom (e.g. hold control key with mouse wheel).
I have tried using bettertouchtool and magicprefs, but it appears that neither accommodates this feature easily. If there were a keyboard shortcut to employ this feature then I think I can assign it to a magic mouse gesture via BTT or Magic Prefs, but I cannot find such a keyboard shortcut.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

It could be you are approaching it incorrectly.   It can be a tricky little gadget that actually works with minimal pressure.
Try turning over the mouse so the compartment panel faces you, optical sensor topmost.  Then holding the mouse at each side but not on the panel itself, flick the small, black rectangular panel downwards.   The top of the panel should spring out, though it may require you to manipulate it fully away from the mouse.
Once you have replaced the batteries, starting at the bottom reverse the procedure then clip into place.   Remember to move the small switch next to the optical sensor upwards which should turn on the green light.   Then click twice to connect.

  • My magic mouse scrolling is stuttering in safari 5.0.5. Can anyone help?

    Hi all,
This has been a problem for a while now but am finally getting around to do something about it. I've increasingly noticed that when scrolling in Safari 5.0.5 it becomes stuttery/jittery using the magic mouse.
I've updated everything (OS, updates etc...) to the latest versions, have plenty of space left on my HD.
Does anyone have suggestions to get it fixed? Smooth scrolling is selected in mouse preferences.
    Kind regards,
    Jack

Same problem here. As well, every few minutes, the mouse doesn't scroll at all until I've scrolled up and down two or three times. Other forums have posts about this problem, too. Things that didn't help:
    • quitting/restarting Safari
    • restarting
    • resetting PRAM
    • turning off smooth scrolling
    The problem occurs independently of:
    • Flash websites
    • complex pages
    • currently loading pages (active, or background tabs)
    • any other wireless activity

Is there a way to open the notification pane using magic mouse? i mean it would be great if i could two finger swipe to the right for the notification pane (two finger swipe left opens dashboard)
I have Magic Prefs if it helps

It doesn't seem like this is possible in 10.9.1.  Can someone at Apple confirm or provide a solution?

Estes atalhos realmente aumentam a produtividade do trabalho no software: zoom, orbit, pan, etc...
