Magic Mouse under Win7 - full functionalities

Dear all,
I don't have a choice - my company runs Win7.
Nevertheless, I don't want to miss my Magic Mouse and my Apple Keyboard that I know from my home devices.
To connect the Mouse with my Dell Nogebook hasn't been a challenge but, I miss functionalities like the move with fingers - so far only right & left (double) clicks work fine.
Can anybody help / advice what to do to obtain full functionalities of my Magic Mouse under Windows 7?
Thanks a lot in advance from Germany!

bluetooth connection is incredibly unreliable/intermittent when in Windows (I run Windows 7 64-bit and Boot Camp 4.0, and got both devices connected without any trouble via Bluetooth).

After much testing, I have found the cause of lagging/jumpiness on the Bluetooth Magic Mouse and Magic TrackPad in Boot Camp.
Hopefully this will help others:
The drivers for the Broadcom 802.11n Wireless Adapter have a setting called "Bluetooth Collaboration" that is Disabled by default. Enabling this option removes the problem instantly.
My Magic Trackpad now works flawlessly, even if I stand 6 metres from the machine. It now works just as well as under Mac OS. The setting can be found under:
Control Panel > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter (right click and choose "Properties".
Under the "Advanced" tab, highlight the setting named "Bluetooth Collaboration", then change it to Enable. Then click OK.
I narrowed the problem down to the wireless card by disabling ALL startup services and processes for Windows, then re-enabling one by one.
As soon as I enabled the Windows Wireless Service, the problem came back.
Similarly, disabling the Wireless Card inside the Network and Sharing Center (or Device Manager) removes the problem.
This led me to believe it must be a driver issue with the wireless card, since the problem didn't occur with the Magic TrackPad under Mac OS, or on my mother's Windows 7 64-bit computer.
So when I went into the Driver Properties to check for an update, I found this setting about Bluetooth Collaboration.
All Apple notebooks use the Broadcom card (and have done for years), so this driver is installed for almost anybody using Boot Camp on an Apple notebook. I'd assume this problem would affect anybody using Boot Camp + wifi + a Bluetooth device.

    Hi,
As mentioned in the link posted by Steve, you can check the setting of Data Execution Prevention.
And according to the following blog, some hardware features that Hyper-V does not utilize and enabling them will prevent Hyper-V from loading.  (If your BIOS doesn't have this hardware feature, then igonre this part)

    Hello Apple;

  • Trouble with magic mouse under lion

I upmy system to lion last week and since then my magic mouse is working rong, when I whant to scroll down I have to scroll up on my mouse.
and a new bug, the system is telling me all the time where I am  You ca see
the black rectangle in the center. Who can I close it??

I still can't get my Mighty Mouse to work in Bootcamp either. I went through everything that I've seen suggested online. When I go to the Apple Magic Mouse Properties and check "Drivers for keyboard, mice, etc." and click Apply, I get "Access is denied." I'm using Windows XP. Curiously, after going through the Bluetooth Devices control panel and adding the Apple Magic Mouse, it appears briefly noting that it has a passkey, and then immediately changes it to "No passkey."

  • Disabling Horizontal Scroll in Mountain Lion (Magic Mouse)?

So I've tried pretty much everything and can't seem to this.
The following things used to work under Lion and before, it seems but having tried all of them, I'm at a loss for what to do. I like the magic mouse, but
when doing any development like coding or doing something in illustrator or Photoshop. The horizontal scroll makes my content jump all over the place.
Very frustrated hope someone can help. Here are all the things I've tried.
    Open a terminal shell:
defaults write com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse MouseHorizontalScroll -bool NO
    This no longer does anything.
I tried installing MagicPrefs to try and 'overwrite' the scroll functionality for horizontal movement... it doesn't work
I tried installing BetterTouchTool (BTT) to also overwrite the scroll functionality for horizontal movement... again it doesn't work.
    What does work:
It seems I can go into System Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad > Mouse Options >  uncheck scrolling.
But this gets rid of all scrolling even vertical.
Now if MagicPrefs or BTT had a vertical scroll action you could bind to up/down swipes this would be fine, but they don't.
So, at a loss for what to do.

If you have windows 7 this might work for you. Found from another forum post here.

Re: how to disable horizontal scrolling with magic mouse in win7?
    Mar 19, 2013 8:30 AM (in response to lexa_xxx)
I use MagicMouse on iMac with Windows 7 running (installed through BootCamp). Got sick of annoying horizontal scrolling. The solution described above has helped me to disable it. Here is what I've done in steps:
    1) go to http://www.autohotkey.com/ and download an app (a script editor).
    2) Install and run the program - please note that it will not open as it runs in the background
    3) Rightclick on the desktop -> choose "New" -> "AutoHotkey Script" (a new script file will be created on the desktop) -> name it as you wish (e.g. "Mouse_HScroll")
    4) Rightclick on the file you've just created and choose "Edit Script" from the menu.
    5) Add these three lines below existing text in the file:
    WheelLeft::return
    WheelRight::return
    #MaxHotkeysPerInterval 5000
    6) Save file
    7) Run "Convert .ahk to .exe" program from the package installed earlier and browse the file you've just created, hit ">Convert<" -> .exe file should be created. Run this file -> the scrolling should be disabled now.
    7) You may wish to move this file to Start/"Autorun" folder, so it would be launched automatically each time you reboot your Mac/PC.
    Hope this helps! Good Luck

  • Has anyone got a replacement magic mouse out of Apple?

Having my mouse lose connection about 6 or more times per day since mid-July, and having tried all the remedies on this and other Discussions, and advice from AppleCare, with no success, I plan to ask Apple for a replacement Magic Mouse under my iMac guarantee.
Has anyone succeeded in getting a replacement for any reason?

    Steve,
I haven't needed to but I've read of many users who got a "no questions asked" replacement.   I think you should persue it.

  • Magic mouse installation

According to the Magic Mouse insructions to use your Magic Mouse and its full range of features, update your Mac to Mac OSX version 10.5.8 or later (which is already done) and install the Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 for Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard; requires a paired Apple Magic Mouse and Mac OS X v10.5.8. I clicked the apple to update and could not find the Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 for Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard. Could someone please tell me what I am missing, any help would be greatly appreciated as I am greatly challenged.

    Who knows:
    - why this happens and how I can abondon this behaviour?

  • Magic mouse working under windows7

I am a bit confused about the MagicMouse use in Win7 under bootcamp.
First, in MacOS I see the bootcamp version is 5.0.3, under Windows, it says 3.1... why is there a difference?
In windows, the mouse works but it is very erratic. There is no way to adjust the sensitivity of the trackpad component of the mouse. So if you are on a form with multiple dropdowns, the mouse randomly scrolls the dropdown list... or when you go to click, it scrolls as well and then accepts the click. In Device Manager, The mouse section shows a driver from Microsoft HID compliant.. (same for keyboard) Is there not a specific driver for the mouse where you can adjust all the relevant settings?
I see there are drivers under Human interface device.. but those don't seem to work with the mouse

Really the same issue by me on my mb990 and windows 7 32-bit. Don't even know what it might be. I've installed the driver for magic mouse from vista 32-bit. I think the crappy driver causes the problem.

It's a Magic Mouse question. I have set this up in Preferences by ticking Swipe between pages with one finger and also Swipe between full-screen apps with two fingers,  however when I try to do the latter, the 2 finger swipe will take me from the app that I am on to the dashboard only and not to my other open apps.
I also find that Smart zoom only works with some apps, for instance not with Word docs or email.
How can I correct this please?

Just figured out it also does not work with the Mail app.

  • Magic Mouse too Sensitive Under Mavericks

Sensitivity is an issue with all Apps under Mavericks.  The slightest touch is detected as a swipe or scroll.   I can't find any preference to adjust this.  Any suggestions?
The sensitivity was fine under Mountain Lion.

I wanted to add my voice to this post as well
I am finding it increasingly frustrating to work in Mavericks and one of the issues is this magic mouse touch sensitivity!
I am a graphic designer and I do a lot of layout work with the mouse. When I am fine tuning layouts and dragging and dropping in Adobe Illustrator I find a LOT of issues where things are sliding around left/right and up/down at the slightly twitch of my finger. This is not pinned to this specific application though. I find the same experience across all applications where I have to drag, drop, and place things on a screen as well as with regular scrolling where there is some "wiggle" in a window when trying to scroll up and down. For instance, on Chrome the screen regularly moves a little left to right just when my finger is sitting on the mouse not really moving. It's noticable on Chrome because it has the "bounce" effect when you scroll past the boundaries of the website you are view
    This is extremly frustrating!
This is not related to the tracking or the scrolling speed. It is something different entirely.

  • Magic Mouse stops working under Yosemite

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I've been experiencing an issue where occasionally the Magic Mouse stops working.  I sit there and turn it off, turn it back on, sit there and click the mouse and move it around, but it doesn't connect to the computer.  I go into the Bluetooth Preferences and unpair it, but it doesn't show up on the list of devices and so I can't re-pair it.  Turning the Bluetooth off and then back on doesn't make it show up.  So far, the only thing that seems to help is to restart the computer completely.
Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?

My Mac Mini's power button changed functionality with Mavericks.  Now with a fast click of the power button the Mini sleeps.  A little longer and you get a shut down dialog, and of course, hard shutdown holding for longer still.  I don't know if the MacBook works like that in Yosemite.  If it does, use the button to Sleep, then again to wake, and 99% of the time you have a Magic Mouse again, with Mavericks at least.  Even if the button doesn't work, you can use control-fn-F2 to give the Apple Menu focus, down arrow to go down to Sleep, and Enter to make it happen.  Then wake however you normally do.  Still a nuisance, but slightly less intrusive than Restart, particularly if you have something you haven't saved yet. Worth a try maybe.
I only boot Yosemite for short periods from an external drive so far, so I can't vouch that this will work for it.  I come from a background where you don't install version zero of anything.  I have to say, with a clean install, so far I don't see the problems I read about here.  Maybe I need to work for a whole day with Yosemite sometime.
PS. I just tried turning off the mouse in Yosemite (and saw the disconnection reported).  Went to Sleep.  Turned on the mouse while Sleeping, Woke Up, and the  Magic Mouse reconnected just like Startup.
