Magic Mouse will not swipe from desktop to desktop.

I just downloaded Yosemite today and got all the updates. So I am completely up to date. My particular computer is an iMac 27" 3.4GHz i7 (2011). I don't know why but the Magic Mouse I use will not swipe from desktop to desktop within my iMac. Also, every application generally has a default desktop that it is assigned to  unless you change it. So, I've had 4 or 5 instances tonight when Yosemite causes, on occasion, a "hang-up" when switching from one desktop to another when the system preference application was open. The glitch or "hang-up" presents itself by freezing when one desktop is switching to another desktop. The freeze occurs when the desktops begin switching from one to another. The desktops show a big black line between them, kind of like two images of film connected to each other. The two desktops continue to move a few inches to the left every 10 or 15 seconds, taking about 1 to 2 minutes for the two desktops to shift from one side of the screen to the other, finally ending up with the one desktop that shows the system preference window. Has anybody had this hang up before? Serious update needed. Also, my magic mouse doesn't seem to respond when I tap it for smart zoom.  This needs to be fixed soon.

You probably already know this but just in case -
Desktop swipe is left or right with two fingers and
Smart zoom is a double-tap with one finger on the magic-mouse by the way (and double-tap with two fingers on a trackpad).
Do you have all the special gestures enabled in the System Preferences Mouse pane?
another thing to try is various settings that will help speed up things like "reduce transparency" and others - e.g. see

has not swipe selection and i cannot turn off bluetooth

To resolve this issue try the following:
from the upper left corner of your screen click:
    1.  / system preferences / bluetooth
    2. Locate your mouse under the devices panel
    3. Remove your mouse
Click on it so it is highlighted in blue
Click in the blue "x" or you can click delete after you have selected your mouse.
    4. Reconnect your mouse (re "pair" ) your mouse
This should resolve the scrolling issue if it occurred after the 10.10.1 update.

    Hi,
I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal.  I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved.  Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:
Please follow the instructions here: https://www.expressvpn.org/support/setting_dns_servers_mac_os
(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
    1. Click on Applications
    2. Click on Utilities
    3. Click on Terminal
    4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
    5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

  • Magic Mouse will not pair (OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1)

All of a sudden my Magic Mouse will not pair. Very annoying!
I have changed the batteries, several times, so the light is on on the Magic Mouse.
I have opened System Preference/Bluetooth. I can see that it is searching for devices but it is not connecting to the Magic Mouse.
I currently have a Apple Wireless Keyboard and have paired an Ultrathin Touch Mouse in the interim, but I want my Magic Mouse back.
Can someone please help (in a language that I can understand) with this issue.
    Thank you so much.
    Cheers

    Hi davidgraham193,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your Magic Mouse is not scrolling, first go to the Mouse section of System Preferences and try toggling the "Scroll direction: natural" checkbox to see if it has an effect.
    Scroll direction: natural:
Select this option to move the contents of a window the same direction as your fingers.

  • My Magic Mouse Will not scroll or left click?

At 11:08 pm my magic mouse would not do anything but right click. I can not scroll either way, nor can i rightclick. I have tried System prefrences. What do i do?

  • When dragging and dropping files in Lion Apple Magic Mouse will not "let go" of file even after button is released

When selecting file or drive icon or text, the mouse will not release the item.  Pressing esc will release item but only back to original location.

I presume drag lock isn't checked in System Preferences, but it sounds like maybe it's been set elsewhere, like by a corrupt prefs file? Can some OS X guru provide a Terminal command to disable drag lock just to be sure?
I have a problem, also on a new MBP 2010 i7 /10.6.4, that isn't the same but might be related. The time required for the system to "release" an item selected by the pointer is exceptionally long. And if I try to click elsewhere before the pointer has been released, it only serves to extend the time. It's annoying and reduces productivity.
Speed settings in Sys Prefs has no effect, and no other hardware is attached, using just the trackpad.
I hope there's a setting that can be changed via Terminal; can anyone suggest the right terminology for the parameter(s) that need to change?

  • Update 10.8.1 and my magic mouse will not stay connected

I have just updated both my MacBook Pro 17" and my iMac to Mountain Lion 10.8.1.
Almost immediately, my Apple wireless 'Magic Mouse' disconnects after a minute or two of use from either/both computers and will re-connect with a few clicks when this happens.
Prior to updating I never had this problem with either computer or either mouse.
Both of my 'Magic Trackpads' work properly with no disconnects.
I have turned off each Magic Mouse, tried one then the other however there appears to be no solution to this problem.
I have concluded this must be a result of the update to 10.8.1.
Any ideas or potential solutions will be welcomed.

I've also been experiencing similiar issues since updating to 10.8.1 on my newer model 13" MacBook Pro.  The wireless mighty mouse I have will initially work with my computer, but then after a seemingly arbitrary (short) amount of time, I lose bluetooth connectivity although my MacBook Pro still shows me as being "connected" to this device.  At times the issue will resolve itself, but more often than not it requires a complete restart to remedy.
On a possibly related note, has anyone else noticed that the bluetooth icon in the toolbar, when clicked on, results in the infamous Apple pinwheel alot since the update as well?  I wonder if this is somehow a related issue?
I went into an Apple store about the mighty mouse connectivity issue and couldn't get a solution.  The diagnositics all checked out.  Store representative told me that they could take it over night to do a more thorough checkup, but I wasn't ready to part with my laptop over this issue...just yet.
         Anyone with answers, please help.

  • Magic Mouse will not 'connect' to iMac

I have a 27" iMac with wireless Magic Mouse, both purchased in November2009. My keyboard is USB.
Todaywhen I started the iMac, it would not 'connect' with the mouse. I resorted to a USB mouse to open Mouse Preferences and got a window that indicates the iMac is searching for a Bluetooth mouse, but "No mouse found".
I have new batteries in the mouse and the green light shows it is working; however, the preferences do not allow the battery status to be shown since the iMac is not 'connected'.
To confirm the batteries are indeed OK, I connected the mouse to my Mac Book, and the mouse works fine with the Mac Book -- shows the batteries to be 100%.
What could be the reason the iMac does not recognize the mouse?

    Hello:
I see you are OK now.
You might want to make the mouse a favorite.

  • Magic Mouse will not scroll

Lion 10.7.5 on MacBook 13 inch. The mouse has started doing weird things. The cursor moves around the screen fine but I can not scroll. I think this happened with the last Lion upgrade. Strangely after sleeping all night, it started scrolling for a few seconds then stopped. I can move up and down if I click and hold on the little bar on the right of the screen. The trackpad does the same thing so it isn't the mouse. Do I need to restore the OS? If so how do I do that? I do have a flashdrive with Instillation software on it that I made when I put Lion on. The mouse has fresh batteries in it. If either thinks they are copying something they will move the screen. I totally confused.

Apply the Magic Mouse updates to gain the scrolling functions under Leopard.

  • HT1338 My new magic mouse will not one finger scroll left and right

I am up to date with software but after connecting my new magic mouse it will not one finger scroll left and right. It does scroll up and down. Any ideas on what may be wrong??

I don't have a Magic Mouse, but there is probably a setting that enables and disables horizontal scrolling.  Look on System Preferences Mouse pane.
