Magic mouse won't scroll or swipe on mountain lion

I upgraded my macbook pro to mountain lion and now my magic mouse wont scroll or swip between pages or anything at all, it can tap to zoom and navigate still but nothing to do with motion on the surface, what could be the problem?

I had a similar problem. I posted my fix in this other thread:

  • Magic Mouse won't scroll or swipe in email window, but works perfectly in Safari window.

My Magic Mouse suddenly won't scroll or swipe in the email window, top or bottom part of the window, but behaves normally in the Safari window.  Replaced the Mouse batteries, 100% power, no difference.  iMac is 2008, pretty old, but was updated to 10.10.3 a month ago.  Bluetooth icon in upper right part of screen indicates Bluetooth is ON, and the Mouse is connected, as evidenced by proper operation in Safari.  No recent upgrades/changes to email that I'm aware of.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I set up the new iMac with a time machine back up from a much older iMac, has this caused the problem? iCloud drive works perfectly on my macbook pro. Thanks for any advice.
Then check, which MacOS X version your new Mac is running. To be able to use iCloud Drive, the system needs to be Yosemite, MacOS X 10.10.x
To check the system version, click the -menu un the upper left corner of the Display and use the command -About this Mac.
If you are running an earlier system, use upgrade to Yosemite from the App Store.

  • Magic mouse won't scroll on snow leopard

I bought an imac two weeks ago (snow leopard)- and my magic mouse won't scroll! I do not seem to have the USB overdrive installed, I have all the latest software! Help!

The ball is dirty, they have a history of accumulating dirt and grime on them so that's my best guess. When I used one what worked well was rolling the ball very very vigorously on a white sheet of paper on a hard flat surface. Do this for about 60 seconds then see if that took care of it.
NOTE: My error I misread and thought you wrote Mighty Mouse. Please disregard.

  • Magic Mouse won't scroll on my ppc

Just got the Magic Mouse for my G5 PowerMac, I got it connected via a USB device, only problem is the scroll is not working at all. I'm running 10.5.8 and updated the mouse software but still no luck.

I've used USB Overdrive in the past but in this case it does nothing as the 'scroll' on the Magic is not a button as such.
Like I said I ran the Lepoard mouse update with no change, I've tried a number of thing and restarted the G5 more time yesterday than I have in the last year.
I like the Magic Mouse especially the scroll and swipe features (I've used in store), guess I'll have to wait for my new iMac to make full use of it and make sure that it comes with the Magic Touch Pad when I order it.

  • Does anyone know why a magic mouse won't scroll in calendar in mavericks?

does anyone know why a magic mouse won't scroll in calendar in mavericks?
It will scroll in a window that has an indicator scroll bar on the right side but not in the new seamless calendar view. The built in trackpad on my mid 2012 macbook pro will scroll.

    or uninstall those mpkgs
    Yes.

  • Hi!  My magic mouse won't scroll in word for mac - but it scrolls in safari and outlook.  So frustrating!

I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite and am using Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 version 14.4.5.  My magic mouse no longer scrolls in word - though I can click on things with the magic mouse.  And the magic mouse scrolls in safari and outlook.  Any thoughts?

I had the same problem. I just quit Word and restarted and it worked. I tried with a new document just to try it at first and when that worked, I tried it on the document I was working on and it was fixed!

  • Magic mouse won't scroll

My magic mouse that I had for a few months no longer works with any of the scrolls or swipes or any of the gestures that made me buy the mouse.
I can only right and left click and move the pointer around the screen.
I've deleted the two different preferences files from the global and user 'preferences' folders, restarted, but to no avail.
When I connect the mouse to my MBP, the connection indication shows the mouse to be a mighty mouse as does the preferences pane under the mouse tab, while the bluetooth utility shows a magic mouse.

  • HT3887 Magic Mouse won't scroll now!

I have a Magic Mouse and it will not  scroll.  I have version 10.5.8, the newest wireless update installed, checked if i had usb overdrive installed and disconnected and reconnected/re paired my mouse, and put in new batteries.  I had this problem and fixed it using those old solutions before but now it just won't work!

I reset the pram and stuff as well.

  • Wireless magic mouse won't scroll -

I just purchased the wireless magic mouse. It won't scroll. I have gone to system preferences and don't see where I can set this up. I can move pages by clicking and dragging but that isn't why I purchased this mouse. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place OR should not have disconnected my ubs mouse before going through a process?? Or maybe it isn't compatible with my tiger system?? Anybody know?
    Thanks!

Okay - I have figured this out. The Magic Mouse - DOES NOT WORK - with tiger. Oh, it works but just as an ordinary mouse - click and drag.

  • MacBook late '08, Lion, Magic Mouse won't scroll

The mouse was working then suddenly won't scroll. Tried deleting the pref and no luck. Tried restoring back to Snow Leopard from SuperDuper and the mouse worked fine. Reinstalled Lion and it won't scroll. Don't have USB Overdrive on the machine. Suspect a software conflict but have no idea where it could be. Haven't put anything new on it recently that I can remember. Hopefully someone has an idea 'cause for the first time in 15 or more years with a Macint9osh I am stumped!

I have been getting everything ready to order to update my macbook 13" from late 2007.  Everything I read suggest that all should work well with two exceptions.  One problem will be the graphic card in my macbook will not be supported by Lion and the other issue is the above question.  Since the macbook does not have multi-touch built into it will the system freeze?  Can I just buy a Magic Touchpad and get it to work through blue tooth?
George sorry I don't have the answer to your question but that is one of two reasons I haven't gone forward.  I hope you find out this answer, that would put me one issue closer to the upgrade, as welll as getting you back under way.

  • Magic mouse won't scroll or double click on OSX 10.7.5

Would upgrading to Mountain Lion fix the problem please?

I doubt that upgrading the OS to Mountain Lion would help. The problems could be with the mouse itself, or with your system software. Try booting into your Recovery parition (holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting) and resinatll Lion (your data will not be affected).
If reinstalling the OS doesn't help, you've likley problems with the mouse itself.

  • My magic mouse does not work with OS X Mountain Lion?

My magic mouse does not work the direction of vertical displacement with the update OS X Mountain Lion?

You are correct that you cannot install version 5.x of the AirPort Utility on OS X Mountain Lion. However, once installed it will run just fine. One workaround is to extract the utility directly from the disk image (.dmg) file.
Here are the basic steps to install version 5.6 under Mountain Lion using CharlesSoft's Pacifist:
If you haven't already download the AirPort Utility disk image file directly from Apple Support Download
Place the resultant AirPortUtility56.dmg file onto your Mac's Desktop.
    Run Pacifist.
Click on the Open Package option. Find the disk image file that you just placed on your desktop, and then, click on Open.
The utility is located as follows: Contents of AirPortUtility56.dmg > Contents of AirPortUtility56.pkg > Contents of AirPortUtility56Lion.pkg > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 5.6.app
Drag AirPort Utility 5.6.app to your Mac's /Applications/Utilities folder.
You can now run the AirPort Utility from the Utilities folder.
