Magic Mouse won't stay paired with booth Boot Camp and Windows 7

So I have a Broadcom Bluetooth 2.1 dongle on Mac Pro 1,1, Lion, Boot Camp 3.3 and Windows 7 latest service pack and latest drivers/operating system. Everything is up-to-date.
My problem started with Windows 7 not wanting to pair with mini alluminum keybord AND magic mouse. I followed a post somewhere and I was able to get the keyboard to pair and work when I switch between Lion and Bootcamp Windows 7 by removing it from Bluetooth Prefs in Lion, adding it to Windows 7 BC, and then adding it again in Lion.
However, magic mouse will still work with onlly one: If I add it to Windows 7 and then restart to Lion, add it there and then restart in Windows, it shows as paired in Windows but it does not respond. I then remove it from Windows 7 and add it again, and it works. Then I reboot in Lion. It is on the list, but not connected. Even the option to connect is not available. I try restarting the mouse, no luck. The only way I can get it to work in Lion again, is to remove it and add it again. Now, I go back to Windows 7, It is there on the list, but it does not respond. In short, the Magic Mouse only seems to want to stay paired (or work) with either Win 7 or Lion. Getting it to work with one cancels the other.
BTW, every time I pair it with Lion, I set it as a Favorite.
Any suggestions?

Some more info I have gleaned from my 13" white Core 2 Duo Macbook (not sure what generation - came with Tiger though). If I uninstall the Intel graphics drivers, the Sleep option is gone from Windows 7 but it will hibernate, and when resuming from hibernation the screen comes back on. However, when the Intel drivers are reinstalled the "screen off" problem is present for both hybernate and sleep. Two other data points: the power manager can't turn off the screen (after X minutes, etc) and I can't get any picture on an external monitor either. Just wanted to share.

  • Boot Camp and Windows 7 - closing lid, won't wake up

    Hi all,
I just installed build 7600 of Windows 7 (32-bit) in Boot Camp on a Macbook I bought around December 2008. For the most part, Windows 7 seems completely compatible with the Boot Camp system. Unfortunately, I'm having problems with the screen remaining black after either putting the computer to sleep manually or by closing the lid. What happens each time is that the computer sleeps the first time I attempt this and then wakes up like normal, but the second time I do it, the black screen refuses to go away. When I close the lid, the little white light on the front of the Mac stays lit (it doesn't flash), and when I open it, it actually turns off(?!?).
I really don't know what to do about it, and it's super unfortunate because if I forget to not let my computer fall asleep I lose all my work. Has anyone found a successful fix in Windows 7 or even in Windows Vista?
    Thank you everyone.

  • Have to delete Magic Mouse from MacOS to pair with Windows Bootcamp

Like many I couldn't get my Magic Mouse to pair in Windows when dual booting with BootCamp to Windows 8.1 on my 2012 MacBook Air.
Whenever I searched for bluetooth devices it wouldn't be found, or would sporadically appear but fail to pair.
The solution for me was to reboot into MacOS (where my mouse had already been paired, and automatically connected) and Delete (not disconnect) the mouse from Bluetooth settings.
Then when I rebooted back into Windows the mouse was detected under Bluetooth devices and could be paired.
I hadn't found this particular solution on the forums, and so thought I'd share.

Another follow up to this.  I unpaired my Mac Mouse from Windows and gave it to a friend to try out on his Bootcamp MacBook Pro.
It unpaired from my Windows and re-paired to his Windows fine.
Then when he unpaired it from his Windows and gave it back, it wouldn't come up in the list of bluetooth devices for pairing on my Windows.  It would in his though.
The solution was to boot back into MacOS on my laptop, where the mouse spontaneously connected, and delete it there. Then I could reboot back into Windows and find the mouse under bluetooth devices for pairing in Windows again.
This was despite not having logged into MacOS for over 6 months.
It's almost like the mouse reverted to being bound to the first device it ever paired with.

  • How can I get MagicTrackpad to work with Boot Camp and Windows Vista?

Just installed Lion and then installed Magic Trackpad. Now I need to know how to get the Magic Tackpad to work with Windows Vista in my Boot Camp partition. Windows Bluetooth recognizes the Magic Trackpad but it says the device won't confirm the passkey. No passkey came with the Magic Trackpad and the option to not use a passkey still doesn't achieve connection with Windows. Suggestions/ comments, please.
    TIA,

    UPDATE
Just completed several lengthy sessions with Apple Tech Support (escalated to excellent Sr. Advisor). Bottom line is that there seems to be no answer to the problem of the Magic Trackpad not being able to maintain its pairing/connection with Windows (Vista in my case) or OS X (10.7 in my case) when switching Boot Camp partitions. In fact, when trying to re-pair it is necessary to remove the MTP batteries first. To pair at all with Windows requires the use of the Bluetooth passkey "0000" (not provided in MTP documentation). This achieves limited MTP/Windows functionality (cursor and "click" control only - with BC 3.1. BC 3.2 is supposed to provide more gestures, but I have not gotten there yet). Appears that when switching back to OS X, that passkey has remained with the MTP and is not what OS X is looking for, so it fails the connection. Removing/replacing the batteries probably dumps the passkey and allows the OS X connection. The Sr. Advisor says he sees this issue often (including with Windows 7) in their internal chat rooms, but no solution. He will be referring it to the engineers and will let me know the outcome. Meantime, assuming I keep the MTP, I'll have to resign myself to using a wired mouse when going to Windows (not a huge inconvenience, since it's only for Quicken; but the issue is worse than "in-elegant" for Apple!
I am satisfied that I have obtained the best possible help from Apple on this issue. If anybody has more, please reply.
    Thanks,

  • Problem with boot camp and windows 8

I have a Macbook late 2009 with Mountain Lion. I want to install windows 8 with boot camp but when I am asked to enter drivers, windows 8 don't find them. I have downloaded drivers from boot camp assistant but they don't work. When Apple will provide ???

Obviously Boot Camp does not support Win 8 at this time. When and IF Apple decides to do that no one here knows. This is a user to user forum. Perhaps you should call Apple support and ask them.

  • Can I use Windows XP Home with Boot Camp and/or Parallels or VMFusion?

I am planning on purchasing a new Mac Mini with Snow Leopard. I have a copy of Windows XP Home Edition that came with a 7 year old Compac computer, can it be used with either Boot Camp and/or Parallels or VMFusion? I REALLY don't want to purchase Windows if I can help it. Thanks!

Read the boot camp requirements. I believe you will need a Windows disc that is stand alone. By that I mean a Windows disc that is not designed for a specific computer like your Compac. I believe that applies for Parallels and Fusion as well. Some of the newer disc that come with new computers may work since some of them are stand alone. I think your compac disc maybe married to your computer. You can try it when you get your Mac but it may not work.

  • Magic Mouse won't work in Windows 7 anymore

    Hey there,
I've got an iMac running OS X 10.6.8 and Windows 7 via Boot Camp. I just updated a bunch of the Apple stuff on Windows -- iTunes, Quicktime, "boot camp" (I assume that meant drivers and such), and whatnot. Now my Magic Mouse won't work in Windows 7. It was fine before, so I assume the update screwed something up. Help? I know nothing of retrieving old drivers and stuff like that.
Note: I am running Snow Leopard, NOT Lion.

    Hi bsruff,

  • Suddenly my magic mouse won't track properly, can anyone help?

Suddenly my magic mouse won't track around the screen properly, can anyone help? It was working fine then it started sticking. It scrolls from top to bottom fine just the on screen movement is effected. The battery is showing 100%, I've changed the fast/slow slider all the way to the right which has helped a little and unpaired it from bluetooth then re-paired it, did an SMC shut-down, cleaned ball, battery points but it still does not feel totally right? Am I missing something?

  • Magic mouse won't scroll on snow leopard

I bought an imac two weeks ago (snow leopard)- and my magic mouse won't scroll! I do not seem to have the USB overdrive installed, I have all the latest software! Help!

The ball is dirty, they have a history of accumulating dirt and grime on them so that's my best guess. When I used one what worked well was rolling the ball very very vigorously on a white sheet of paper on a hard flat surface. Do this for about 60 seconds then see if that took care of it.

does anyone know why a magic mouse won't scroll in calendar in mavericks?
It will scroll in a window that has an indicator scroll bar on the right side but not in the new seamless calendar view. The built in trackpad on my mid 2012 macbook pro will scroll.

    Yes.

  • MacBook Pro won't stay asleep with external monitor attached.  When sleep is selected from the Apple menu the computer will go to sleep only to continually wake up...go back to sleep...wake up...etc. every few seconds.

MacBook Pro won't stay asleep with external monitor attached.  When sleep is selected from the Apple menu the computer will go to sleep only to continually wake up...go back to sleep...wake up...etc. every few seconds.  This only happens when using the external monitor. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mine does that too. The worst thing is when it goes to sleep, then wakes up and keeps running while the lid is closed and it is wrapped up in a case. I am afraid when the hot weather comes it is going to burn up. I am hoping Apple fixes it in the software or they may have a melted MBP to replace.
Then when I open the lid it is crashed running at fill tilt, pumping out heat to beat the band. I am forced to hold the button down and reboot.
I wiped my hard disk and reinstalled my OS, but it didn't help. I reversed my OS to 10.5.0 and it solved the DVI problem but still won't sleep. This post will probably be deleted by Apple, they did it a few days ago. I just don't know what to do, and I consider myself a real Apple expert. Just hoping you realize you are not the only one.
