Magic mouse wont track

magic mouse will connect and click and scroll functions work but wont track. The senses are clean and the batteries are showing at 93%?
It seems to have started when I tried to use it on a black glass table.
Any ideas?

Try using it on a mouse pad or a plain piece of white paper.

  • Magic Mouse wont close program or window when I left click.

    Hi,
so I bought me a new set up iMac i7 with among others the magic mouse 3 months ago.
Not everytime but quite frequently when I try to close a program or any kind of window, by left click the red button on top left corner, it wont work, nothing happens.
Then I have to click somewhere outside that area and then go back to the red close button and it works.
This is also present sometimes when I want to close a tab in safari by the tab cross-button.
Anyone who has an idea of what the problem might be?
At a first glance I thought it was a software bug, since it work when I click outside the red close button and then go back and it works.
When it stops working it doesnt matter how many times I try, it just wont do until I click once outside the area.
I also have a track pad but it works flawless!
Thanks in advance for any hint into right direction!
    regards - Peter

You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />

  • Magic Mouse and Track Pad won't scroll after after waking

I installed Lion and a TrackPad on my 27" iMac at the same time. When I wake my Mac up after sleeping for a period of time, the scrolling does not work on either the TrackPad or the Magic Mouse. The pointer works fine on both, however. I have to restart in order for things to work again as they should.
Apple Care has so far been unable to help. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm ready to return the track pad and/or uninstall Lion. This is turning into a Windows experience. Not typical for Apple.

Agreed. My bluetooth keyboard works fine with iMac and Lion. Not so for my magic mouse. It will work for a while and then clicking and scrolling become unresponsive. Sometimes a complete shutdown and start up will solve the problem for a little while (not always), but then mouse becomes unresponsive again.
Speaking of unresponsive, that is Apple on this subject. Many, many complaints, but no action.
I'm using a 2010 iMac, all updates are installed. Batteries are charged. Reset PRAM. Checked settings in System Preferences. Did everything others have suggested. No help.
The magic mouse was fine with Leopard. It was even fine with Lion, until the Lion update and then the problems began.
I'm back to using my USB mouse. I'll see if Apple Store will accept return of magic mouse. Doubt it.

  • Magic mouse jerky tracking

My Magic Mouse has for some time not been tracking well.  It is a bit temperamental sometimes being fine, but most of the time is unusable to the point that I end up using the trackpad on my 2012 15" Macbook Pro.
Overall the movement is just a bit jerky and laggy.  Clicking can sometimes also be a bit unresponsive, while scrolling is a bit better.
It's not a problem with the Mouse as I've tried using another MagicMouse and had the same issue.
I've also tried all the normal fixes, cleaned the sensor, changed batteries etc... but still having issues.
I don't tend to have many USB things plugged in but do almost always have a second display plugged in via the thunderbolt port.
It does seem to be a problem with the computer, so any suggestions would be welcomed!
P.S. I have a bluetooth keyboard which works well

    Try resetting the PRAM.

  • Magic mouse stops tracking, Magic mouse stops tracking

    Hi all
I have bought my magic mouse last year (it is about 1 year and 1 month so no replacement) now all of the mouse functionalities are working perfectly BUT the most important thing the tracking has stopped.
I have tried batteries other Mac and still nothing i have downlowsed a bluetooth analysis utility and it states that everything is just great but still no track of the mouse.
Thanks for all of your help.

Here is the Apple document that may help you ....
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
Take particular note about distance from computer, interfering electrical apparatus and battery condition.   Check the green indicator light on your mouse.  Is it on, flickering or steady.   Here are a few notes I have written about batteries ....
Whether you use regular or rechargeable batteries you should buy the best. Discounted or unbranded batteries are more likely to give a depleted performance and may be of irregular size, often leading to connection problems.   Apple’s own brand, Eneloop and Energiser appear to be the best.
Rechargeable batteries for the standard Magic mouse are unlikely to exceed eighteen days before needing a recharge although the mouse itself can be a limiting factor.   I have seen reports that some Logitech mice vastly exceed this.    Apple may suggest more in their sales blurb but this is a realistic expectation.   The benefit (if you are organised) is that you can always have charged batteries available.   Regular batteries will give you between 25 and 35 days before they need to be replaced.
Note.  Never mix old and new batteries or rechargeable and regular.
The notes above are based on my personal experience, not shutting down my machine and using it for around four hours per day.   Note.   Monitors do not always faithfully report battery strength, particularly the rechargeable ones.
When checking your mouse or keyboard batteries ...
    Turn off the device.
    Remove the batteries,
Clean the terminals both inside the battery compartment and the batteries themselves.
    Replace or renew both batteries.
Turn on the device.   You should get a blinking green light if the device is paired.
Click the mouse to activate it.  The green light becomes steady.

my scrolling and click, zooming still works on my magic mouse but it will not track.

    Hi there,
I'm with the same problem at home. There I updated to Mavericks about two weeks ago. The mouse is not tracking anymore except the others functions that are working fine.
Now I tried to conect it here at work (Mountain Lion) and it still tracking with no issues.

  • Magic Mouse erratic tracking

    Hello
When I'm working my palms get warm/sweaty, not dripping sweaty but enough to give off a tiny bit of moisture on the tracking surface (not visible or measurable). The result is that Magic Mouse gets a rather erratic tracking. Very annoying and makes the mouse totally useless. This occurs weather it's on the table or the pad.
Is it suppose to be like this? Is this normal behavior?
    Appreciate feedback on this.

    Hello a:
I have not had the behavior (or heard of it either) but I do admit that my palms appear dry all the time. There is no setting that I am aware of that would cause that behavior.

  • Magic mouse wont connect boot camp 4.0

I have just installed a fresh copy of OS X Lion with Boot Camp 4.0 on a new iMac.  I have been unable to get the magic mouse to connect via bluetooth.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver with the same result.  I can see it when I add devices but connection never completes.
    Any advice?

I figured this one out. =)
right click the mouse in the add menu... then click properties. check the box in the menu that appears. click apply. connection should complete there-after.

  • Magic Mouse Jitter tracking

Have read some info on the web about Magic Mouse problems with Mac Pros.
Has apple come up with a solution for their pro users yet or are they to busy working on iphones and Ipad and disregarding quality control and pro user hardware.
I started using macs near 15 years ago because they built systems for Pro users, now it seems they are disregarding them to cash in on the masses.

Believe it or not the problem is becaused of falsely connected antennas inside your mac pro. Seems that apple workers had some trouble figuring out the correct wirering:

  • Remote control / magic mouse wont respond

    Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone out there can please help?
(I know that this issue has been widely discussed in online forums, but after spending hours trying to find a solution online, I thought I come here and ask directly!!)
Last week I purchased the latest iMac 27" quadcore.
A very nice bit of kit,.....but I'm having a real headache with lost connection problems with my Magic Mouse. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't....
For no apparent reason, it just suddenly loses connection (and I have to resort to using my wired mouse..... until the Magic Mouse decides it wants to play ball again!).
And now, in a similar fashion, my shiny new Apple remote control has decided it doesn't work either.
I was flicking through the latest movie trailers this morning (using the remote). All was fine.....until it decided it didn't want to work anymore! And now it won't work at all......
(By the way, I'm pleased to announce that, so far, I haven't had any issues with the wireless keyboard).
This iMac is by far the most expensive purchase I have ever made - and this experience has greatly annoyed me......and somewhat taken the shine off of it!!
Can anyone please offer any advice / help?
    Many thanks (in anticipation...)

Hi David, just to give you a quick update, I've restarted my iMac - and now the remote seems to be working okay.
Upon restarting my iMac I noticed that I'd accidentally set up 2 user accounts: one had my OLD user name (which I imported from my old Mac using migration assistant), and one was the NEW user account I set up.
Earlier today I was unknowingly logged into my NEW user account - and it MAY be that my new user account didn't have my Little Snitch preferences set up in the same way as my old one....and was possibly blocking me from using the remote...
(However, that doesn't explain how it WAS temporarily working this morning..... and then not!)
Anyway, I've deleted the new user account I'd set up - so at least that takes any further confusion out of the picture!
My Magic Mouse is currently working...... but I'm keeping an eye on it!
I've read this posting somewhere else on this forum:
"Trash a preference file and restart (com.apple.bluetooth.plist)
    Make the mouse a favorite:
System preferences>bluetooth. Highlight the mouse and click on the little gear thing and select show more options. Click on the gear again and make the mouse a favorite."
If I continue to have a problem with my mouse's lost connection, is this a course of action that you would recommend?
    Or is it best avoided??!!

  • Magic Trackpad wont track/scroll/anything but click!!

I just bought a magic trackpad to use with my iMac. I connected it fine, and it shows as 'connected' in the Bluetooth menu.
It WILL click - but the cursor doesn't move, and it wont scroll or anything else. It's driving me up the wall!! I've tried everything I can think of and I can't find any information on this problem.
    Anyone have any ideas??

Hello again, perhaps your issue is related to or the same as this :
Magic Trackpad - Clicks work but no other gestures
If that doesn't help, I'd be contacting Apple directly, and/or the retailer who supplied the trackpad. I hope you get it resolved quickly.
