Magic Mouse - worst mouse i've ever used

My magic mouse has left scratches on my mouse mat, my glass table from ikea which was expensive and the battery cover rattles when i touch it. Its out of the maximum days of return to apple so what do i do? I just want to get rid of it, i've had it since it came out and i've not enjoyed any moment of it. I've just been using my razer deathadder and it glides along the mat like a feather but the magic mouse is like a piece of lead with spikes stuck to it. I've tried requesting a repair but it says i've not entered the right data which is ridiculous because i know how to read.

Hi MattStreet89;
If you are dissatisfied with an Apple product you can being it back to Apple even if the return days have expired. It sounds like there is a real problem with your m]magic mouse.

Not rally a question, just wanted to share my absolute frustration with the update of iTunes...this is, without a shadow of a doubt THE WORST application i have EVER used, Mac or PC! And that's saying something with the amount of PC dross that's out there...Apple...PLEASE update and give us back the old version of iTunes...

Pull down View > Show Sidebar. This will give you back the same functionality of iTunes 10.x.x.

  • This is more of a statement than a question but I can't stand iTunes. It is THE WORST application I've ever used.

The single worst application I've ever used. Period. I'll never buy another song or use it as a back up again. I'll pay $9.99 per month for Spotify and a cloud-based back up service instead of using this PoS software to backup my family's iPhones. I consider myself a loyal Apple user having owned at least two Apple computers since the early 1990's.

If you like crappy quality and remakes of songs from nobodys then use Spotify. If you can't use iTunes then maybe you need computer lessons. It doesn't get much easier than iTunes. Yes,they changed it and made it a bit clunky if you ask me, but for an all around video and music manager, CD burner, streamer and radio,it doesn't get much better.

  • Magic Mouse in Windows 7 using Bootcamp

    Hello,
Quite new to the Apple scene and generally, I love it BUT, does anyone know why my £60 Magic Mouse needs pairing every time I start Windows 7 and even when I do re-pair it, sometimes the gestures work and sometimes they dont. I have updated Mountain Lion to the latest version on my MacBook Pro 15. I only bought the mouse to get an extra USB slot...
    Thanks for any answers

    Hi all,
It seems that when you restart in Windows from Mountain Lion, you must switch off the mouse and then switch it back on. Wait a couple of seconds and then just click the mouse and it should start working without having to re-pair. I am happy again!

  • The worst software I have ever used

I have an Ipod Nano 4gb which was a birthday present back in October. Looking through this forum I see that I'm not the only one having problems.
My conclusion is that although the ipod is brilliant the software to get tunes onto it is the worst I have ever come acrossIt's so slow,it does diferent things each time it's used, it's not user freindly, it's just crap (itunes). I've heard a lot about Apple being the best computers from my experience with itunes I would need a lot of convincing.
Very dissatisfied, come on Apple show us what you can do with an updated version of Itunes that is both useable and friendly, we shouldn't have to rely on those on the forum to put our problems right

I have to agree with Mitch here. iTunes is one of the easiest and most user friendly pieces of software I have ever used, and that's my expereince on both Windows and a Mac.
Maybe if you asked a question of the many knowledgeable folks here, you would get some help?
"I've heard a lot about Apple being the best computers from my experience with itunes I would need a lot of convincing"
Yeah, I know what you mean. The tyres on my Mercedes as supplied by the manufacturer were poor. Must mean my car is garbage huh?

  • Magic Mouse with Windows 7 Boot Camp

I get that this discussion has been posted here and on other forums throughout the web. I still don't get it. My Magic Mouse works when I use Mac, but when I use Boot Camp Windows 7 Professional 64-bit I can't get it to install. The number 2 step people keep saying is "right click" on the magic mouse. Do I right click the actual mouse or the magic mouse icon? Also, how do I right click if the Mac I have only has the pad? I'm new to Mac's and tried clicking the right side of the pad and nothing different happens.
I'm really bad with computers so if someone can break it down as easy as possible I would much appreciate it.

    NotGood,
Can you help those of us who are still struggling with this issue, by explaining what you did?
    Thanks,

  • Why did Lion 10.7.3 mess up my magic mouse on my macbook pro 2011?

My mouse was working fine and as soon as I updated to 10.7.3 my magic mouse went wacky!  Swipes don't work now. I will be move my mouse to the other side of the screen and it jumps all over the place.  And randomly clicks on items when I havnt pushed the mouse buttons.  I'm glad I still have the track pad on the macbook pro. But for video editing it just isn't easy to use like the mouse.   I reeeeaaallly hope they fix this soon.  Or if anyone out there knows how to fix it pleeeease share with me.
Im using a macbook pro with lion os x 10.7.3 and .... well  I was using a magic mouse connected via blue tooth.. but its almost impossible now.
    Thanks

I am having the same challenge, what I have found to be a temporary fix is to disconnet the magic mouse and the reconnect using the BlueTooth Preference in system preferences.
I am also am having connectivity issues with my Plantronic Voyager Pro and my Ecamm BT-1 all are inconsistant now and intermittent.
So far no one seems to have an answer.  Maybe if someone from Apple is monitoring this forum, they can add some imput for us?

  • Quirky Magic Mouse Behavior

I'm having trouble with quirky behavior of a Magic Mouse that's being used with an Intel iMac. In the Mouse panel of System Preferences I have the "Two Finders" option of "Left/Right to Navigate" set on. When in a Finder window set to "list" view I frequently manage to scroll to the right by accident by having an extra finger on the surface of the mouse. I can live with that. But when I try to scroll back to the left, the Finder window often doesn't stop when the scroll bar reaches the left end, but instead switches to the enclosing folder. Is this "working as designed"? I don't see that behavior with my mid-2009 white MacBook, which has "Allow horizontal scrolling" set in the "Trackpad Gestures" section of the Trackpad panel of System Preferences.
Thanks for any insight into this seeming inconsistency.

Based on a comment in another thread I can now close this question, although it does require me to plead guilty to being grossly ignorant on one point. I was trying to use the surface of the Magic Mouse with two fingers in the same way I used two-finger scrolling with my white MacBook's track pad, not realizing that I should have been scrolling with the Magic Mouse with one finger.

  • Magic Mouse stops clicking randomly: need to right click desktop few times.

For some reason, randomly, my Magic Mouse will stop clicking/registering clicks (left or right/anything but movement) and I'll have to right click on the desktop 1-2 times for it to "come back to life"...it's very strange. I've tried readding it, etc. to no avail...?

I ended up here after experiencing the same problem (seemingly random and intermittent inability to scroll with Magic Mouse or trackpad when using Firefox) and searching Mozilla and Apple support forums. There are a few separate reports in both communities that refer to the issue seeming to exist only when using Firefox with a Magic Mouse. There are, of course, other threads that don't have that specific combination, but the original post is not a unique occurrence.
In my own case, I am experiencing this problem on two MacBook Pros. I did not have this problem until recently. Also recently I bought a Magic Mouse but have no idea how significant that is (the trackpad also becomes unresponsive on both machines). It does seem unlikely to be coincidence, but still could be, of course. Like most people now, I guess, I gave up manual updating of Firefox a while ago to spare myself the constant reminders and so I don't know what version exactly I had when this started but it is now 31.0 (although Firefox is just waiting for me to quit in order to update to 32.0).
If I quit and reopen Firefox, all is well for a while but then the problem returns. I can still scroll by dragging the scroller in the scroll bar (thankfully not completely gone, as yet) and appreciate the comment about using the up arrow and down arrow keys, which I hadn't thought to do. It seemed to be only one of my MacBooks for a few days, but now seems to be both. Somewhat bizarrely, while concluding this post, Firefox on both computers has resumed scrolling without, as far as I can recall, a restart. I'll aim to give an update after a day or two (as so many final posts say...)

  • Is there any way that the magic mouse might work on the iPad?

I just got the iPad 3 and is there any way that the magic mouse can work alone or with the keyboard on it? If not, can the mouse work with a PC?

    tonefox wrote:
The magic mouse can't be used with an iPad simply because Apple has chosen not to include support for it.
Which is fair enough. Where are you going to put this mouse in order to use it with an iPad... you need a handy flat surface... oh, I know - the iPad screen. Much easier than moving your fingertip around it.
You would put it the same place you put the wireless keyboard.
In fact the existing keyboard support is one of the big reasons many of us would like to see mouse support added. You see the problem is that when you use a keyboard you have to reach up and over to tap the iPad screen. By Steve Jobs own admission* the arm tires quickly when you have to do this repeatedly. In this particular situation a mouse would be more ergonomically sound.
There is also the issue of access for the disabled. Although iOS does have many accessibility option, at present none of them help those with severe spinal damage or certain amputees. Including mouse support means you could also use devices like the "suck and puff"... A mouth controlled joystick designed for people with these disabilities.
    * He was talking about touchscreens on notebook computers, but it's the same concept.

  • Magic Mouse batteries last only a day.

My Magic Mouse (with 2013 iMac) used a pair of Energiser Ultimate Lithium L91 3000 mAh batteries every six weeks. So I changed to Energiser Recharge 2400 mAh. They are the best rechargeable batteries available, but I now have to recharge them every day, but the same batteries in the keyboard last over a month between charges. Can this be correct?

Magic Mouse is really, REALLY terrible on batteries.
You are better off with using high end, high priced, non-rechargable batteries that are specifically design for high drain electronic devices.
Remember to turn the Magic Mouse off when not using it for prolonged periods of time.
    The batteries may last longer.
Look into one of these. This may help you with getting better battery life.

I really loathe the Apple Magic Mouse. I had one.It worked erratically, it was terrible with all but very expensive higher end lithium batteries and, generally problematic with Bluetooth pairing.
I returned mine within the 14 day return policy.
It looked great, but never worked great for me.
Look into the much better Apple Trackpad, instead OR purchase and use thisTrackpad from Logitech.
This is my new, favorite input device and works well on Macs and OS X as long as you install Logitech special trackpad software.

  • Magic Mouse doesn't work as it should

    Hello everybody,
after reading tons of docs and forums without finding a solution I tell my problem to you:
some days ago I got myself a Magic Mouse. Aiming to use it with my Macbook Air running Lion (all updates installed) I paired it but I only got a very basic menu. No scrolling options, the only things I can adjust is the double click and the pointers speed. The sexiest mouse in the unverse behaves like something I bought at the radio shack for 2,50 €. Then I paired this mouse with my Mac mini (Snow Leo, all updates) and everything worked well. Going back to my MB Air I recognized that the mouse had been renamed by my Mini, but nothing else happened. I just can't get it running the way it should. I read some tons of docs and did the following:
    - removed the batteries
    - did a pvram reset
    - removed the non-apple kernel extensions
    - erased com.apple.bluetooth.plist and lockfile
    - installed the MacOSComboUpdate several times
    - checked my MBA for apps like USB overdrive and uninstalled anything
    Nothing helped.
Before I go berserk, has anybody any suggestion how to proceed now?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello X423424X,
thanks for your hints. Unpairing the mouse from the MM at least gave it back its old name. I did the smc reset - at least I pressed the right keys, but there was no feedback about it - but the result is still the same. Uninstalling Onyx, Deeper, Fink and CoolTerm was useless too. I installed MagicPrefs today and it recognized the mouse as a magic mouse, I can configure it there, but the functionality still isn't there . All I get is this:
I think I'll continue uninstalling. Maybe I find out that keynote smashes my system.

  • Magic Mouse problems with swiping/selection

I've had two Magic Mice on OS X10.9.2. With both, the system deselects swiping in System Prefences after I select it. Pages 'bounce' in Word and Powerppoint, such that it's extremely hard to edit documents and presentations. Setting the sensitivity doesn't seem to help. Randomly, I can't click-select text in documents in Word.
    Ideas?

Aaannnnnddddddd.... this has been really helpful - not.
A piece of advice for everyone, then: don't buy a Magic Mouse if you're using Word or Powerpoint. They're trash.

  • Will magic mouse work on Power G5 with USB bluetooth?

I have a Power G5 Mac OS 10.5.8 and I really want to buy the magic mouse. However since I don't have bluetooth, will it work if I purchase a USB bluetooth? If anyone has done this, please let me know!

Hi Maria, and a warm welcome to the forums!
The Magic Mouse is wireless, and uses a Bluetooth 2.1 transceiver to communicate with Bluetooth-enabled Macs. It can connect to any Mac that has a Bluetooth module, either built-in or added via a USB dongle. In fact, that’s the approach I took. I used a Bluetooth dongle to connect the Magic Mouse to an older Mac Pro that is not equipped with Bluetooth.

My magic mouse (both of them) use batts. about 3X as fast or more than keyboard, for obvious reasons.
Mouse is perpetually sending signal when moving and gets a lot more transmission output than typing by a long shot.
Magic mouse is transmitting about 20X as much as a keyboard is, why would you wonder why its using more batteries?
