Magic move and fade or opacity change

I would like to move an image onto the stage with a dissolve or fade or opacity change so that as it moves in it goes from 0% to 100%.

Do to that select the item that you want to move in and drag it off the canvas and under the Graphic Tab in the inspector change the Opacity to 0%. Then in the Build Tab of the inspector click Action. Then in the drop down menu click move. You can adjust where it will move to, how long it will take, Acceleration and Path. Then Add Action and select Opacity and move to 100%. Again you can select how long it will take.
Finally, click More Options at the bottom and select the Opacity and under Start Build select Automatically with Build 1.

Magic Move and Charts

I was watching the video of todays WWDC keynote and at one point Phil Schiller was showing a graph that smoothly changed vertical size and scale when transitioning between one slide and another. He then said (I am paraphrasing) "Magic Move in Keynote".
I went right to my Keynote '09 and have spent the last 45 minutes trying to get Keynote to do such a smooth Magic Move transition. Started with a scatter chart. Generated on a page, copied and pasted in the next and just shrunk the vertical size. No smooth transition. I removed the legend from both. Same no go. Tried it with 4 other chart types and in none did Magic Move smoothly transition a chart from one page into another where the size was changed.
Has anyone else done this? Look at the WWDC video - it happens with Phil's first part of the presentation showing numbers of OsX users. Can anyone duplicate this with a chart???

I think so. There is no other way. As I said it's not perfect. Magic Move makes the animation dependent from the objects being at front and at back. To make it perfect, you need to care about that. As this would REALLY take time I didn't do so. But I think Apple does have employees for that
You can do the diagram with keynote, then remove all gridlines etc. copy it and paste it into Photoshop as a Vector smart object. Then save it as a .psd file and put it back into keynote....

Compressing .mov and keeping alpha without changing to .flv

Hello,
I am trying to run a .mov file with alpha through Adobe Media Encoder to get a compressed .mov file with alpha.
I found that I could change the file type to .flv with On2 VP6 codec, but I cannot use that because my file type must be .mov. I am bringing the compressed .mov into Unity as a movie texture and Unity will only accept .mov .mpg .mpeg .mp4 .avi .asf.
Is there a way that I can run a .mov with alpha through AME and get a compressed .mov with alpha?

The reason that you're getting a large file out of After Effects is that you're using the defult Lossless output module template, which uses the Animation codec. There is no reason to go through AME to make a smaller QuickTime movie. Just export directly from After Effects and choose a different codec in the output module settings. If you're using QuickTime, PNG is a good choice for getting smaller files that still have alpha channels.
However, why do you even care about file size if you also want an alpha channel? The reason to care about file size is for final ditribution; the reason to care about alpha channels is for using the file in a post-production process. Worrying about both at the same time means that you're likely confusing the requirements of two very different parts of the pipeline.

Magic Move not working

I have an image of a plane that I would like to move and resize from slide 1 to slide 2, first I removed the plane's background using the Alpha tool, then I had it to move from left to right in slide one (with no move out), then I duplicated the whole slide, removed everything except the plane, resized it, moved it to the lower left, and choose the transition for the first slide (Magic Move). When I play, everything goes right until the time the plane should resize and move, instead is fades, then the new plane moves in from left to right!
Any Help Please?

First, ensure you are using the latest version (6.1).
Some users have reported issues with the arrow shape, but magic move and the arrow is working as it should with most users.
If you are using 6.1, delete it and reinstall from the Mac App Store.

Magic move

Hi, I'm a new user of keynote. I've seen on some forum this is a function called "magic move", but I can't find it on the last release of the application. What's wrong ? dosen't it exist anymore ?

The most recent update is Keynote 6.2: Inspector > Add an Effect > Magic Move
duplicate the slide then change position, colour and size to create the move.

Magic move incompatible with object transitions...why?

The magic move page transition does not work if you have other object transitions on the 1st page of the magic move paired pages. Remove the object transitions, and it works fine. Is there a list of what object transitions are compatible with magic move and what is not? I cannot figure out a pattern.

MM has it's quirks to be sure. Best to split your animation into several slides. Always duplicate a slide to make the A or B slide for a MM, then only change what you must to achieve the transition. Leave all other transitions to other slides if you are having issues. MM is very sensitive to the object data it uses to associate the objects on slide A to objects on slide B and is easily upset by stack order changes and other things... transitions on objects may come into that.

Magic move doesn't work anymore

after opening a presentation (I had prepared in Keynote 09) in Keynote 6, magic move is no longer working.
Any help you might provide? Is there a user manual for Keynote 6?

Could you walk me through the steps? Perhaps I'm looking for "Magic Move" and it's not there. There are three tabs in animation afterall.
Never mind. I was missing an important step, like "duplicate the slide."

Magic move not working randomly

I am trying to use magic move and have followed all the instructions posted online. I duplicated a slide and moved the objects. Some objects move fine but one arrow is living in its own world probably. !! None of the objects have been grouped and they are the exact same size and dimensions. Tried cpying the arrow as well. Still din't work. help please.. !!

I can click on fade in and fade out and the yellow line that graphs volume takes a sharp raise or dip at the beginning or end of the clip, but there is no change in volume when I play back. What am I doing wrong?

Now about those fades for the volume. How are you doing that?
1. Right click the Timeline video audio and select Fade and then
see the Fade options (I had a video with audio file, so I saw the choices as shown in the screenshot)
2. You can also create two volume keyframes at each end of the Timeline audio clip rubberband (orange line that goes horizontally across the middle of the audio clip). At the position of the Timeline Indicator, click the Add/Remove Keyframe icon, and then with the mouse cursor position the white dots (volume keyframes) to achieve the Fade In and Fade Out audio. In the screenshot below I have moved the Timeline Indicator so that you could better see the white dots (volume keyframes).
Please let us know if any of the above works for you with regard to the audio fades.

FCP won't display opacity changes (fades or keyframed opacity changes)

So I've been fighting with FCP for a couple days now. 11 hours of rendering last night and it's no good. Wherever there's a fade or a keyframed opacity change, it simply displays black, or sometimes, the track under the affected track.
I have deleted the render files, and that didn't help. I then completely removed and re-installed FCP and no luck. Any suggestions?

Magic Move Fades? Is This New?

Hello Community-
I've been using MagicMove for a long time and love it. Suddenly today, I went to use it, and the objects, except for what's moving, now fades. Is this new or did I forget something? To describe what happens:
- click the button to start the slide transition
- Objects in back of the objects that are assigned to move fade out
- Objects move
- Backgrounds objects fade back in.

I'm having difficulty replicating your problem. I created a slide with many objects, some in the foreground others in the background. I cloned the slide and then moved some of the objects and assigned Magic Move to the first slide - everything works as it should with no fades of the stationary objects.
Could you possibly have a build inadvertently assigned to the background objects? Select each your misbehaving background objects and check using Build Inspector to see if there might be something assigned. Check on both the first and the target slides; you might possibly have a build-out on the first.
Other than that, you might try removing the offending background object(s) and place them back in again - this will cancel out any hidden builds.

Any way to automate text opacity fade in and fade out?

I am doing a lot of text subtitles, and for each subtitle, I take a text slug, type in the text, then at the beginning of the clip I make the opacity zero, then a second in I increase the opacity to 100%, then I apply "Smooth" to each point and then do the opposite on the tail end.
Is there anyway to automate the fade in and fade out of opacity so that I can save myself a ton of time?

Several ways to do it:
• Set the Opacity changes to one clip; copy the clip then Paste Attributes->Opacity to the other clips at one time.
• Use a Fade In Fade Out transition as the default transition and apply to all selected clips at the same time.
• Use a filter like Digital Heaven's DH Fade and apply to all clips (Paste Attributes->Filters.

I bought a movie in HD on my iphone and I need it changed to SD but...

I recently bought an HD movie on my Iphone. I wasn't able to even start download because the movie in HD is to much memory for my phone. I went back to the store and when I wanted to download it in SD I was able to switch my choice to SD but the buy button, which turns into a downloading sign when you are dowloading or on paused and you're not allowed to press it and in my case my download hadn't even started. I wanted to see if I could delete the download again and start over even if I had to buy it over again but I was never able to do that either.
I then went to my computer and downloaded the SD and HD version. I wanted to move the movie in SD over to my iphone, but the movie doesn't show up in the itunes sync movie section. I clicked the manual manage music check box and it wouldn't let me add it. It was in my purchased playlist on my iphone and computer so maybe the computer already thought I had the movie but I was hoping it would see that one was SD and the other HD because I can't delete the movie dowload on my phone to start over and it would then change to SD because there was enough storage.
Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm stuck and I want my movie on my iphone lol

Movies are not always available for redownload. Is there a reason why you deleted it instead of simply transferring the purchase to the computer and then removing it from the iDevice?
