Magic Move + QuickTime Export Problem

Hey there,
as I don't have an adapter for my MacBook Pro, I have to export my presentations into QuickTime for school. I use Magic Move often, but it seems to cause problems in some situations. I want to zoom into an image, and then move it afterwards. It works fine in Keynote, but in QuickTime it kind of zooms and moves from one slide to another.
What's this about and what can I do? Thank you.

I'll just take my notebook.

  • QuickTime Export Problem

This is the first time I have attempted to use the HDV function on my Canon XHA1. I had used it for SD many times with FCP 5.1.4 many times with no problem, but I’m having a problem exporting from FCP. Here is a snap shot of my settings in FCP. I think they are OK, but look and see.
    <www.greydogmac.com/settings.jpg>
The video looks fine in FCP, but when I export using QuickTime Movie, I used “Current Settings” when I exported. When I look at the size of the QuickTime file that was exported the dimensions were 1920 x 1080, even though the current settings in FCP are 1440 x 1080. I have tried other export options with no success.
    What am I doing wrong?

    David,
Thanks for the response. I guess my question is there anyway for me to correct the distortion. Here is a JPG of how the QuickTime file looks. <www.greydogmac.com/QTclock.jpg>. You will notice that the clock face is elongated and looks distorted.

  • Quicktime exporting problems

    Hi,
I have just exported my finished edit using quicktime movie (current settings). The problem is some of the footage is stuttering and slow. It looks perfect in the timeline but when exported the quality has dropped significantly.
Iam using footage from two different cameras. primary vision comes from a handycam with AVCHD files. I logged and transferred them into fcp using apple pro res 422. The frame rate is 25fps, frame size 1920x1080.
The other footage came to me on a disk so unsure of what the camera is but it was mp4 format NTSC 29.97fps, 1280 x 720. I converted these files to .mov and to pal 25 fps to match the frame rate of the handycam primary footage.
    Sequence setting in timeline:
    1920x1080 (HDTV 1080i 16:9)
    25 fps
    apple PoRes 422
    field dominance:none
The poor quality footage is from the handycam when exported. The 1280 x 720 looks fine. Is this to do with the frame sizes not being the same in the sequence. Or is there something wrong in my sequence settings?
    Im utterly perplexed.
    please help!
    thanks

I would have expected the problem to be with the mp4 sourced material.
How did you convert the timebase from 29.97 to 25 fps?
    Was it interlaced or progressive?
The AVCHD sourced material is interlaced. You are playing it in a progressive format.
What happens if you change the dominence setting for the sequence to "upper field"
fwiw - If it is an interlacing problem, you'll not see it in FCP as FCP displays a proxy that is deinterlaced.
To see problems like this you need an external monitor that is being fed a real broadcast TV signal. Computer signals/displays don't show you the real deal.

  • Quicktime export problems in CS4

I am having trouble exporting Quicktime videos from Flash
CS4. Previously, in Flash CS3, I got the following dialogue box:
    Flash
    CS3 export box
Notice the fact that I can change the export resolution in
this box. I set the resolution to what I want, and then click the
quicktime settings box to change the movie's dimensions to what I
want. The resolution settings in this picture determine what
dimensions the flash movie is rendered at, not the final quicktime
movie. Now, take a look at my new dialogue box:
    Flash
    CS4 export dialogue options
Notice that I can't change the resolution settings here. If I
go into the quicktime settings and export out a movie at a higher
resolution, it first renders the flash file at the native
resolution in the picture and then upsizes it to the quicktime
resolution, resulting in a very low-quality, blurry movie.
Does anyone know how I can render out a quality quicktime
    movie in CS4?

That's the stupidest thing I ever heard of!! How can you remove the option for determining the size of my movie?! If the size of the frame influances the frame rate, you should have fixed that. With this it means I have to make my flash file 1920x1080 if I want the quicktime movie to be HD, not a pixel less.
Is there a way to override this? A plug-in or something that wil let me determine the size of the qiucktime movie independetly of the size of the flash file?

  • Quicktime export problem - failed(10)

    Hi there.
Quicktime V7.1 has suddenly stopped working on my computer. Whenever I try to export, a few seconds after it displays 'calculating time', I get the message Failed(10).
This seems to be irrespective of the format of the original video or the format and compression I attempt to export to. So far, I have only attempted Quicktime native codecs. Nor does changing the file name or exporting to a different drive help.
I have uninstalled Flip4Mac as I understand it can be troublesome and I have reinstalled Quicktime 7.1 and restarted.
No change. Same problem. Please help! Do I have to reinstall the OS?
    Thanks if you can help.
    Ben.

    Bummer.
Double check your "Pro" status using the QuickTime Sys Prefs.
Try a different user account. This helps isolate "users" folder issues.
Don't muck with a bunch of changes unless you want to make even more troubles. Leave things as they are and report back.
Try exporting to another (new) folder on your user account Desktop.
If exporting to an external drive make sure it is recognized by Disk Utility app and is properly formatted to receive large files.
Check "permissions". DU can help there, too.

  • Photoshop CS4 & Quicktime Export Problem

I am opening a still image sequence of tif files, each file containing an alpha channel. When I render this to video in Photoshop, I select the Quicktime Animation codec and set it to use Millions of Colors+. This is supposed to allow the inclusion of the alpha channel into the movie. However when I load this movie into Premiere Pro CS4, there is no alpha channel in the movie. Can anyone explain what is wrong?
    thx

  • Quicktime export problem - black spots

Instead of transitions, a number of slides are getting interrupted in the middle by a few seconds of just ablack screen before the slide re-appearing and then going through the transition. This is happening to nearly every slide transition. I have transparency set to "on," I do not know if this may be part of the problem.

your description doesn't make any sense. Where did you turn transparency "on"...on an object? There's no master switch, but your posts makes it sound like there is.

  • Magic Move to Quicktime problem

I have a slide show that plays automatically from start to finish with music, transitions, timed up perfect with a magic move on the final slide.  It works great.  When I attempt to export the slideshow to a Quicktime movie, it stops on the next to the last slide and never executes (or records) the magic move.  I welcome any thoughts on what is going on and how to fix the bugger...  Thanks!

Well with the newer version of Quicktime and copyright protection, it is very possible that it will prevent you to export a song bought from the iTunes/apple website, becasue it violates the copyright laws.
Somethings similar could happen to songs that are "locked" becasue they have been copied from another computer. That is why mp4 replaced mp3. Higher audio quality, true, but also came with lock mechanism to prevent unauthorized use!
That is why I am staying with 10.2.8 and QT 6.5. Whn I use my wife computer, 10.3.9 and QT 7.0.3 I get some songs that do not show on the slideshows, because they came from my computer....
    Hope this helps!

  • Quicktime Export - Keynote, Streaming, and Movie Controller Settings

A few questions regarding qt export from keynote -
Is there a way to save quicktime export settings in keynote? Right now I'm exporting multiple files to custom sizes, and have to manually enter the size every time.
I'm exporting for streaming as well, and have to select it in the qt settings window every time.
also, is there a way to choose to show the movie controller when exporting a movie? Now I have to open the movie after export in qt pro and choose window>movie properties>presenation>movie controller type>movie controller (it defaults to none when exporting from keynote).
also, oddly enough, is seems that saving the movie after choosing to show the movie controller removes the streaming setting (movies wait to load completely before playing).
    Thanks!

No answer to the main question...but the final question--
When you edit a QuickTime movie, even if the edit is merely to change the settings on the controller, it breaks fast-start. You should be able to fix it by doing a "Save As..." instead of saving the movie in place. But that doesn't seem to work in all versions of QuickTime; I have noticed that certain versions of QT-7 seem to break fast-start altogether.
There is an app out there called "Lillipot" that will fix this for you. Drag your movie to Lillipot, it does whatever magical conversion is necessary to make fast-start work again.

  • Export problems - no quicktime, liney .avi videos...

    hi guys
    me again...
after getting my After Effects back into workin order (set compatibility for Win 2003 or somethin) - which works great now, I have a problems with Premiere CS3 - when I export video to AVI - its just lookin crap - the edges are square-ish, i see lines (if i turn off clip blend it gets better but not during fading out in the video)... plus, i cant export into .mov file - I can preset everythin and then once i click export it shows "Error compiling movie. Unable to create or open output file" ..... plus I cannot export to any uncompressed AVI format (it exports only sound... no video.. BUT I have no problem with Adobe After Effects! (i can even export into .mov with no problem except being unable to set sound quality (if i touch that setting, it crashes... but in AAE every setting of export works fine (either uncompressed or compressed... ) whats wrong with that premiere?? oh and cant forget to mention - in premiere the preview window just looks crap as well - and is freezin... please help guys...
oh and my PC spec is:
    Intel pentium 4 2.8GHz
    1.5 GB RAM DDR
    plenty of HDD space...
    thanks in advance guys:)

EDIT: i was wrong, with after effects-  quicktime works there with no problems whatsoever .. (its the AVI where i cannot touch the sound settings... plus, i just looked at it when i did in After effects animation (just text plus some effect and exported it as a AVI with no compression  (340MB or so) it looks great! but when i export my avi video from camera to avi (after putting some effects) its not that good lookin (it looses the quality.. :/ why??? wrong codecs? or settings somewhere?? honestly best lookin exported video I get from (im serious) Windows Movie Maker (LOL)

  • Export problems- it's renaming my MOVs to strange things and they're huge!

    Hey guys,
strange fcp export problem. I have a 10 minute anim compressed fcp project, 1920x1080, 30fps on a top-of-the-range macbook pro with external terabyte HD. I did a test export a couple of days ago, because our deadline is really soon, and that all worked fine - a 10 minute quicktime, 100% anim codec, was 26GB. That was fine. I did another test clip, just a spinning bitmap for 10 mins, from AfterEffects with similar, succesful, results and file sizes.
Now, however, when I export, it comes out as 60GB, and FCP changes the filename to something which is the first half of the filename I chose, and a strange number for the second half which is different each time I try it. Something like "filena#CF342.mov", for example. This file seems to have video in it OK, but it's 3 times the size, and the data rate is much higher, too high to play back.
The only changes I've made since my successful test are replacing many of the low res previews with hi res versions, and adding 1 minute to the end. And I changed my QMaster setup, not sure if that's anything to do with it.
Anyone got any ideas? I'm getting pretty worried.....
    thanks in advance....

Thanks for the quick reply! No, don't think that's the problem. The new render doesn't have an alpha channel - it's Animation 100% Millions (not Millions+), and I don't think that would add more than 25% to the file size anyway. It also wouldn't account for the strange renaming of filenames. And the increase in length is only 10%. The file size has tripled!
The final delivery format was going to be animation, 1920x280, because it's going to projected on a 30m wide cinema screen and live TV tomorrow night but our playback solution (while it handles the test files ok) can't handle the data rate of these strange new files: it's 800mb/s, which is pretty ridiculous.
The renaming of the files suggests (to me at least) some kind of bug/error, but it doesn't report any kinda error in either fcp or quicktime.
Plan B is to recompress the strange big file using h264 which gives an ok quality and is 10% of the size. Reason I'd like to do it animation is I need to do several versions with different gamma, so I need to do further processing on the rendered file after it's dumped from FCP.
Any thoughts? I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
one thought - I didn't tick "recompress all files" and some of the source DOES have alpha - would it be taking the alpha channel even though I didn't ask for it?

  • .mov export problems

    Hello,
I have a new WinXP computer with CS3 Master Collection and
Quicktime 7.2. When I export a movie (file > Export Movie) the
progress bar moves all the way to the end and hangs there. I never
get my completed file. I can see a .dat file, but the process never
completes to give me the .mov.
I have tried the Animation and H.264 codecs with the same
results. I am also able to product AVI files with no problems.
Help or suggestions are greatly appreciated,
    - Jon

I found another post on this forum that resolved my issue.
For anyone else having this problem with MOV export, make sure you
    do the following:
    - Create a stop() command at the last frame of the animation
    - Make sure there are no frames after the stop() command
Once I removed the frames after my stop() command, the export
    completed just fine.
    Cheers,
    - Jon

  • QuickTime Can't Read Movie I Exported From iMovie

QuickTime is telling me it can't read a movie I exported using iMovie. The movie is saved as a .mp4 which I have used QuickTime to read in the past. Any suggestions?

  • Stuttering magic move transition, has anyone the same problem?

I use Keynote 6 on a brand new macbook pro with retina screen (the most havy one). Has anyone the same problem: a little stuttering of the magic move transitions. It looks like if the movements are carried out on a rough surface. It is a small effect but it gives a low quality appearence.

Thanks for the feedback,Gary. Of course this may be the case, but it doesn't explain why a brand new MacBook Pro does a worse job than a over 3 years old MacBook Air (although the MBP is set at 1680x1050 and the MBA is at 1440x900 default resolution).
I tend to do all transitions at high speed, max. 0.5-0.75 seconds for a transition, often less (0.1-0.4 seconds) for an object build, to get a 'cinematic' effect, as Apple calls it.
