  • Magic Track Pad disconnecting after upgrading to Maverick

My magic track pad has worked flawlessly since purchased with my iMac in 2011. After upgrading to Mavericks it now randomly disconnects and is scrolling in reverse. In order to get it working all I need do is turn on the mouse and when it connects, then the magic track pad reconnects. Why it will only reconnect after doing that, I have no idea ? The new reverse scrolling action is also a mystery. Help please !

    Hello Frank,
It can be difficult to accomplish much if your Magic Trackpad does not stay connected.  I found an article with steps you can take when you have issues with a Bluetooth device not connecting.  I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Top troubleshooting tips" in the following article:

  • How to pair Magic Track pad

Hi every one , I just got Magic track pad -- MC380LL/A Model A1339 to use with Macbook pro 17" late 2011 , I tried to pair it with the Macbook pro , it keep
looking for the magic pad without finding it , Can you please help to what to do .
          Thanks
          CTF

You are quite welcome...amazing how many new batteries are actually not strong enough to handle the task.
There is a solution I have found for my Magic Mouse at home after going through many sets of batteries: the Apple store has a battery charger/rechargable battery set that comes with 6 AA rechargable batteries ($30 US).  I just replace the batteries when they get low with a charged set and pop the low batteries in the charger for a few housrs.  Always have a set ready to go that way.

  • Magic Track pad issue

I have been using the magic track pad for about a 9 months with no issues
however over the last couple of months I've had this problem.
Whenever I'm watching a online video and the quality is not good enough
to go full screen I use the the 2 finger zoom gesture on the
track pad to zoom in to were the video is of acceptable size and quality.
However when I do this I can no longer control the video if I click on the
video controls or progress bar nothing happens and I have to
zoom back out to its original size before I can pause, rewind or fast
forward, can anyone help resolve this cheers.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Magic Track Pad blues

A problem with my magic track pad, bad enough that I regret buying it. Sometimes a mere brush will send the cursor across the screen, other times it turns everything blue, text and pictures, as the cursor is moved across the screen. This isn't selecting, as the blueness doesn't select for copying. But it stops the cursor doing most everything else. To get rid of it requires a firm left click, and only with the cursor over to the left of the screen.
There's nothing in the help file or the System Prefs trackpad about this blueing.
What causes the blueing, does it have any function? So far no function seems to be attached to the blueness, despite it looking just like selection.

other times it turns everything blue, text and pictures, as the cursor is moved across the screen.
Probably you're inadvertently touching the trackpad with three fingers; this comes from the "dragging" setting for three fingers in the Magic Trackpad setting.
This isn't selecting, as the blueness doesn't select for copying.
Actually it is, unless there's something wrong with your trackpad. If after selecting you press command-c, it will copy the selection to the clipboard.
If this behavior is a problem for you, uncheck the box under "Three fingers" and it will stop (unless, again, there's something defective).
    Regards.

  • Magic track pad

How do people like the magic track pad after using a mouse?  Is it hard to adjust?

On a positive note ... mice do not "pinch and zoom" like a trackpad can.
I love the trackpad in general on my MBP (unlike the worthless slabs of vinyl found on most PCs).  The fact that it does not move but I do means less desk space.
But I have tried the external trackpad after learning my MBP trackpad that is placed right between my hands on the keybaoard.  What I found awkward is the constant moving of my "click" finger from the keyboard sideways to the trackpad so my "scoll" fingers can do the rest ... never did get adjusted to the thumb holding the the fingers scrolling at the same time.
But that is just me and we are all individuals.  I suggest uo go to an Apple store and camp out for an hour, constantly trying anything that seem comfortable to you in the keyboard/trackpad manipulation.

  • Mouse, Keyboard and Track pad Freezes

After upgrade to Lion everytime my iMac goes to 'Sleep', the mouse, keyboard and track pad freezes and cannot wake the computer up. After waking the computer with the power button on the back, these devices still will not response or work. I know there is a option in the Bluetooth system pref. to check 'Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer". Make no difference to me when this is checked. Anybody have the same problem as me?

    I'm facing a very similar problem .
My MBP keyboard freezes eventually during the day - sometimes for a minute, sometimes for much more than that. Mouse continues to work just fine.

  • Keyboard track pad freezing

My keyboard and track pad freeze when no movment is done for about 50 seconds
but it only does it when it is not connected to the internet or when anything is connected to the usb port I really mean anything (mouse, camera, hard drive)
After it freezes I can un freeze it by pluging anything into the usb port or close the lid and put the computer to sleep then open it and it will be unfrozen.
    I have tried
Hardware test (extended and normal no problems found)
    Archive and instal
Turning off put hard disk to sleep when ever possible
It's almost like if the computer is doing nothing the track pad and keyboard freeze
    can anyone help

Try dragging these 2 files to the Desktop & reboot...

  • Magic Track Pad with Lion 10.7 and Safari zoom aA vs Pinch to zoom

    Hi,
I enjoy a Mac Mini (early 2009) hooked to a 50 inch plasma and surf from my couch, stream etc... We browse with Safari 5.X and enjoyed the new Magic Track Pad with Snow Leopard. You could zoom / scale Safari with Snow Leopard beautifully, with a pinch out on the trackpad, same function as aA option on the browser task bar.
Now with Lion, the pinch to zoom feature zooms but doesn't scale the safari window the same way aA option used to.  In lion a pinch out to zoom in will push a significant part of the browser screen off / out of view.
The aA option on the safari task bar scales the window, and keeps everything visible but larger, but now in Lion it is not available from the Magic Track Pad Gestures. The Button is still there on the browser but there is no option to access it from the track pad with a gesture.
How can I revert to the old way of zooming / Scaling a Safari web page with my Magic track pad in Lion?
    Thanks,
    H

You can see in that screenshot that a lot of browser.gesture.pinch prefs have an empty string as their value and thus won't have any effect.
You can restore some zoom feature by modifying the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page via the right-click context menu.
    * browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    * browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
You may want to toggle this pref (I don't know what effect this has):
    * browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>

  • Magic Track Pad won't click

I just got a Mac Mini.... connected by Magic Track Pad... all features work except "click"..... any ideas?

I had the same problem.  I attached an old USB mouse to get through the initial setup.
Under System Preferences --> Trackpad there are three lists of gestures and a check box by each to allow or disallow.  The single click on mine was not selected.
One other gotcha.  Under the "Point and Click" tab there is the "Three Finger Drag".  Under "Other Gestures" there is "Mission Control" which should be swipe up with four fingers.  There is an option to make it swipe up with three fingers.  If you change it to three, it will disable the Three Finger Drag.
I'm having trouble getting the four finger Mission Control gesture to work but otherwise the track pad works beautifully.

  • MBP running windows 7 in bootcamp.  Magic Track Pad doesn't work properly

    Hi,
The trackpad on my MBP works great with my Win7 OS. I can use to fingers to click and scroll etc. For some reason when I use the Magic Track Pad it doesn't allow me to interact the same way. I've tried installing some 3rd party apps that are meant to make Windows work with the device on NON apple hardware but that hasn't helped. Anyone have any clues?
    Best,
    Jay

When you connect it & open it WMP click on the SYNC tab of the program. Choose the files you want to sync to the computer then hit SYNC . The files should transfer to the computer. (check your settings as to where you want the files to go.)

  • Can't select at log in with magic track pad

when I get to the log in screen I can move my curser but can't select nothing when I tap the magic track pad I end up hooking up a wired mouse to select user name to input it

Untill you solve the problem, here's a workaround:
If you type the first letter or two of the user you are trying to login as and then press return it will select that user at which point you can input the password.

  • Non-Scrolling, Non-Zooming Magic Track Pad???

    Hi guys!
Any ideas here? I love the Magic Track Pad when its working, but now I seem to have lost the ability to two-finger scroll and zoom. I've probably done something wrong setting-wise to get back to where I was.
Help appreciated for a happy Mac user in sunny Western Australia!

I thought the whole point of an iPad was touching the screen.......

I just upgraded to OSX Mavericks and when i use the gestures on my magic track pad it responds oddly.  Sometimes it won't recognize when my simple gesture of scrolling through a document.

Gestures is not working like it did before. The side to side, forward back swipe, is very picky. Sometimes it takes four or five tries before it works. And yes I know how to do it. I have had a magic trackpad for about one year. And was greatly pleased by how it worked, BEFORE Mavericks. It has has indeed changed.

  • Track pad freezes and phone locks up

Why does the track pad freeze and then the phone locks up? It takes over 24 hours for it to reset.

That isnot normal. How much free memory do you have?  look in Options and te "memory" in the search bar.  Look for the number next to Application Memory.
Also, do you have any 3rd party applications installed?
