Magic trackpad not recognized by MacBook air

Macbook air bluetooth does not recognize Magic Trackpad when searching for bluetooth pairings. Printed instructions followed. Can I download something that remedies this, or is it a limitation of the MacBOok Air itself?

I called Apple Support. My early 2008 version of the MacBook is not compatible with the Magic Trackpad.

  • External HArd Drive not recognized by MAcBook Air

    Hi,
I bought an external hard drive(from LaCie) few months ago and plugged it once to my Macbook Air. I tried to plug it again last month and my MacBook Air didn't recognize it. I also tried to plug it in a PC and not recognized as well.
I've been told to check in the disk utility folder and to format (erase) my hard drive in order to have it running again, but even in the disk utility, hard drive is not recognized.
If anyone had the same problem before, i'd be gratefull of some help.
    Many thanks

what lacie hard drive did you buy?
some hard drives require power supplies. if your hard drive requires one make sure it's firmly connect at both ends. If you haven't done so try another outlet. Also some lacie hard drives have a 3 mode switch on the back. make sure it's set to on, if your hard drive has a switch.
Some of the lacies hard drives have a blue button on the front. try another cable. see if the hard drive shows up as a USB device.

  • HT2801 superdrive not recognized by MacBook Air

My MacBook Air will not recognize the superdrive, even though the drive is right side up and plugged into the USB port correctly. It has worked in the past with slightly older MacBook Air. Help?
    Thanks

Have you plugged the SuperDrive into the MacBook Air's USB port, then inserted a CD into the SuperDrive using a standard 120mm round disk as stated in the HT2801 article you attached above?

  • Toshiba external HDD not recognized by MacBook Air

I have a 1TB Toshiba USB3.0 external hard drive that I have been using for the last year or so to back up all my work data.
The drive works perfectly when I connect it to a PC (Dell desktop, laptop, HP laptop, etc.).  I even was using it last night on a PC.
However, my work recently replaced my PC with a MacBook Air, and the system will not recognize the drive.  USB port will power the drive (light comes on solid blue), but System Profile, Disk Utilities, and Finder do not recognize as attached.  Once again, I used last night without issue on a windows PC.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Magic Mouse not recognizing on MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.2

I've tried everything I know how to do and now I'm asking for help. I just purchased the Magic Mouse yesterday and successfully paired it to my MacBook Pro. Left click and Right click both work fine, but I can't scroll or use any gestures with it. I searched the support forum and saw the need to download the Wireless Mouse 1.0 for Snow Leopard, which I did but nothing changed - still have the same preference screen as before. I'm running Snow Leopard and have all the latest software updates. I tried downloading the app "MagicPrefs" listed on the website, but the console shows that it keeps crashing. At this point, I'd be happy to get the expected Mouse Prefpane as shown in the documentation. All I get is the normal USB mouse settings - nothing else.

    Hello w:
Try trashing a preference file and restarting (com.apple.bluetooth.plist).

  • IPhone 4 will not connect to macbook air via bluetooth. Message " not supported"

iPhone 4 will not connect to macbook air via bluetooth

Try the suggestions here >  iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X
    If nothing helped, repair permissions.
    Disconnect the iPhone.
On your Mac open Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
    Then select: Repair Disk Permissions
This process can take a few minutes.
When it's done, restart your Mac and connect the iPhone.
If that doesn't help, reset the PRAM >  About NVRAM and PRAM

I would like to sync Notes between my MacBook Air and the IPhone and/or IPad.  I used to tick a box in Itunes (info), but for some reason it is no longer there.  How do I go about doing the sync?

The only way to sync Notes is through a mail server. If you don't want to use iCloud, you'll have to use some other mail account, or run your own mail server under OS X Server. The latter is a job for advanced users only.

And one last thing: When I connect the iPod and open iPhoto, iPhoto tries to load New Photos (I think), but nothing happens. Any ideas?

  • Webcam not working for Macbook Air 2013 after upgrading to OSX Mavericks? Yahoo/ Google/Skype cam chats not working. Facetime works though. Any updates of Mavericks released to fix this?

Webcam not working for Macbook Air 2013 after upgrading to OSX Mavericks? Yahoo/ Google/Skype cam chats not working. Facetime works though. Any updates of Mavericks released to fix this?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina display: 15.4-inch late 2015 with OS X Mavericks install, only on second week.
Insight works on FaceTime, Skype, but yahoo program does not show insight cam in dropped down.
Now when I got my new MacBook Pro, I down loaded all new Skype (worked tested), FaceTime (Worked Tested), Yahoo (not worked)
    Fix:
With the new Maverick you have to use there messager program Version 8.0 (4218). Once I add my yahoo account video works again.
It also supported AOL, AIM, Google Talk, Jabber.
Guess I miss it frist time... hope this helps...

  • Magic Trackpad  not fully functional

Magic Trackpad not working (4 finger swipe) after downloading an update to Lion. Whats happened?

exactly same issue here, 5k retina With i7 and 295. chatted online with apple support and they can't figure out the problem.   Maybe its a common problem with retina iMac?  Also, i tried bt headphone, the sound quality is terrible, definitely something wrong with bt in the imac

  • Why can my magic trackpad not be found?

Why can my magic trackpad not be found? It was working fine before the upgrade.

Ok, I found the problem. I guess the trackpad powers down at 15% because it came on for a brief moment for me to see that my batts were low.  I must have bad rechargeable batteries, I put these in just last week ago and they are dead. I guess it was just a coincidence that is happened at the same time of the upgrade. The green light would come on and it made me think all was ok.

Yes, BT on the iPhone only has profiles for hands-free, audio, tethering and control. It does not support file transfer profiles.

If it is early 2011 or newer running OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion then  you can mirror.
A third party app called airparrot can help other models.

Yosemite does not recognize HP printer after upgrade.  I can print from my iPhone, but not my 13" Macbook Air (2013)
Are others having the same problems?

    Try this. Worked for me.
    - turn off your router
    - turn off you Mac's after removing all available printers
    - turn off all iDevices
    - do a factory reset of your printer remove all cables min. 30 sec.
    - turn on your router first
    - ran the network set up wizard
    - give your printer also a new name like "DeskJet 2015"
Something which you don't have used before.
    - turn on your Mac's and add your printer
    - turn on your iDevices at least.
    Should work after these steps.
It worked for me including all iDevices.
