Magic Trackpad pairs with Bootcamp (Win7) MBP instead of another MBP w/Yosemite?

I've 2 MBP's - a Yosemite MBP and one running Win7 via Bootcamp. When the Yosemite MBP is off, the Magic Trackpad pairs with the old MBP (Win7/Bootcamp). I see no clear way to disable this pairing in Win7/Bootcamp or a clear way to disable Bluetooth on the Bootcamp/Win7 MBP either. I can shut down the Win7/Bootcamp PC, but this gets old very quick, as I tend to carry my Yosemite MBP w/me at the end of the day.
Any suggestions from the Mac Geniuses? Thank you.
Martin

Based on the multiple issues, I think I would reinstall OS X 10.10 from the recovery disk (your data is untouched). As always though, make a good backup before doing anything (I use Time Machine and I also make a bootable clone).

  • Magic Trackpad - Pairing Problems Switching Between OS X & Windows

My system has Mac OS 10.6.4 (with Magic Trackpad update 1.0 installed) and Windows 7 (with Bootcamp 3.1 plus the "Magic Trackpad/27" Cinema Display" update). The Trackpad works correctly after setup in OS X with all functions working even after reboots. The Trackpad also works correctly after setup in Windows 7 (with passkey 0000) and continues to work correctly with the supported features with multiple reboots into Windows 7.
The problem is that after using Windows, when I reboot to OS X the Trackpad will not function. It shows as paired but disconnected and will not stay connected. If I un-pair and then re-pair it will work. And the same thing happen when I switch from OS X to Windows - it shows as paired but unconnected and the only way to get it to work is to un-pair and then re-pair.
I had a similar sort of problem with the Magic Mouse and found that if I un-pair in OS X, pair in Windows, and then pair in OS X it will work with both. But the Trackpad won't work this way, even after trying this. I think the problem is that the Trackpad won't allow paring with two different systems (for the obvious reason) but isn't designed to accommodate the Bootcamp scenario.
I really like the Magic Trackpad and would like to be able to use it on those rare occasions when I need to use Windows without the hassle of reinstalling it each time I boot a different OS. Any solution to this problem?

UPDATE: I installed Vista on Bootcamp and tried the Magic TrackPad driver. It has the same problem. I can get the device to work as advertised on the initial install and reboots in the same OS. But when you switch from Windows to Mac OS X (or vice-versa) the device will not work: in Windows is listed as paired and connected, but does not work. In Mac OS X, it will not connect automatically and does not work. If you manually try to connect the Bluetooth icon briefly shows connected and then disconnects.
I sent a bug report to Apple as a "developer" and they state that it is a known issue. I guess we simply wait for them to get around fixing the drivers at some point in the distant future. Clearly they ignore these forums altogether. The experience has left me disappointed with Apple and their slow and inadequate response to problems. I would rather they devote some resources to getting their existing products to work instead of wasting resources to add iPhone-style displays to Mac OS X. If I wanted buggy drivers and no support I should have just stayed with Windows.

  • Magic Trackpad Pairing Number?

I am trying to use my Magic Trackpad in Windows 7. I'm using BootCamp with the Magic Trackpad 1.0 update. When I turn on the trackpad, it asks for a pairing number. Where can I find this or get around this?
    Thank you for your suggestions.

Try 0000 or look in the user manual or a simple Google search.

  • Magic Trackpad works with one iMac ..not another?

I have both an earlier Intel iMac and a 27", i5 iMac .. the Magic trackpad is a wonder. I love it, but I have lost contact with my 27" ... there seems to be nothing I can do for it to make contact?!   I've done all sorts of fixes, but neither Bluetooth nor the trackpad window in the Sys. Prefs will see it.
I have read references to people saying; "Make it a favorite."  I do not know what that means, nor how to do it.   I was just going to buy another Trackpad, but this works fine with my intel iMac.  As soon as I walk in the other room - I can use it.
I'd appreciate a little advice.  Thanks.
    Jim

    Jim,
The trackpad can be paired with multiple machines but Connected to only one.  When it's connected the other machine will ignore it and even refuse to pair.
If the macs are in seperate rooms at least 33 ft way you can do it by powering off the trackpad (this will disconnect from mac1), walk to the other room and power on. Mac2 should grab it.  If your too close it's possible Mac 1 will grab it again.

  • Magic Trackpad issue with Windows 7 Boot Camp

Hi, I just cannot get the the magic trackpad to work with bootcamp in indows 7.
    1) is it compatible?
    2) I have already updated bootcamp to the latest version, installed driver software. It detected the trackpad once and worked but than on reboot just does not work, and also now cannot detect it. Works fine in Mac OSX. Any help is appreciated.

I came across this problem today after buying a Magic Trackpad to replace my dying macbook laptop pad - all of the symptoms above. First I added a USB mac mouse, which at least gave me some control! Then I got a lucky break when the laptop discovered the Trackpad (it did it 1/4 times roughly), I quickly double clicked the icon for the 'wireless mouse' it thought the device was. This kicked off Windows 7 retrieving a driver from the web for the actual device (Magic Trackpad), just the same as the process for adding a Mac USB mouse to the Windows environment. I now have it working fine - although it seems I still have the same problem that inspired me to buy the new pad (left click in Minecraft just keeps going on its own, sometimes stoppable with a second click but destructive in the meantime ;-). May be a Minecraft problem, everything else works fine. Now I have a mouse, a half working pad on the laptop, and a working Magic Trackpad. Recipe for some hardware confusion.

  • Why won't my magic mouse pair with my computer?

  • Magic Trackpad worked with 10.5.8

    Hi,
Take it back and get a refund !
OSx Snow Leopard 10.6.4 is clearly stated as the minimum OSX requirement for the Magic Trackpad.
Maybe the Apple Store person got confused with the Magic Mouse which fully works with 10.5.8

  • Magic Trackpad compatibility with old MacBook

I have MacBook White Early 2009 Model, with solid-state scrolling trackpad (trackpad with one button), running Snow Leopard 10.6.8
I want to know whether Magic Trackpad will be compitable with my MacBook.
Will it support 3 and 4 finger gestures?

The System Requirements for the Magic Trackpad are
    Bluetooth-enabled Mac computer
    Two AA batteries (included)
OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.4 or later
    http://www.apple.com/magictrackpad/
    and nothing more.
So, your MacBook should work with it.

  • Does the new magic trackpad comes with the Force Touch

    Hi
I want buy a new magic trackpad and I wonder does it come with the new "Force Touch" that has been recently introduced to a new MacBook?
    Thanks
    Save13

According to the article, there is no stand-alone trackpad with that new feature available at this time:
It makes some sense to imagine Apple will introduce support for Force Touch inside future versions of its $69 Magic Trackpad at some point. It is also likely Force Touch will be rolled out in future iOS devices.
And, according to the store page, they are still selling the regular trackpad (no mention of a new one):

  • HT4111 does the magic mouse pair with an ipad?

Does the magic mouse work with an ipad?

bburik, I do not think so. Ipad is all touch screen, and the pointer will not show up on the ipad. The ipad is made to only be touch screen. But what you can do, is buy an external keyboard for the ipad, and then you can at least type with an actuall keyboard. But no magic mouse.

  • AirParrot works fine with 10.8, but not with Bootcamp Win7

    Hello!
I know that this is not a problem directly linked to Apple, but maybe someone uses a similar setup.
Since i have a Mid2010 iMac, i can't use the built-in AirPlay mirroring of ML and have to rely on a 3rd party product.
I my case i'm using AirParrot (1.4.3), which works fine if used in ML. Great picture in 1080p and flawless sound on my Samsung TV.
But the windows version of AirParrot (1.0.4) won't detect my ATV3, regardless of which configuration i'm trying. I'm using the identical network setup with ML and Win7 and i'm running out of options for a reason why it isn't detected. For playback i'm using VLC player on both OS.
    Any ideas?
If you need more information, just ask.

I made all my media compatible to ATV and transferred it into iTunes. Now i can play everything directly from ATV via network. Wasn't that much of an effort via batch converting for video content. My music has already been in iTunes.

  • Magic Trackpad issues with opening tabs into new windows.

I used to be able to double tap and drag a tab out of the row of tabs in Chrome and put it into it's own windows. Now the double tap and drag doesn't work.  I have to depress the trackpad with my thumb while tapping on the tab and then drag it into a new window.  Tried unchecking and rechecking all the boxes in Trackpad preferences, but that didn't work.  Anybody have any other thoughts?  Could upgrade to 10.8.4 have done this or something? (Running Mountain Lion on iMac mid 2010).

I think I just found the answer although how that changed I have no idea. Under System Preferences/Accessability/Trackpad Options, I had to enable dragging.  Hope that helps someone if it ever happens to them.

  • Dual-Drive imac with Bootcamp/Win7 and storage

    I have a Dual-Drive iMac with a 1TB SSD(primary) and a 6TB SATA(secondary) harddrive.
I have BOOTCAMP on the primary with Windows 7. I happen to be primarily a windows user. So I would like to use(read and write) most of the 6TB on the SATA drive as my  windows storage. I would like to know if this is possible and if so how could I  go about this without destroying the contents in the SATA drive(some mac folders).
Appreciate it, if someone could point me to the right resources or instructions to do this.
    Thanks.
