Magic Trackpad stopped working, replacement won't connect

I've been using a Magic Trackpad with no problem since it was introduced 2 months ago. Last week it stopped working. Took it to the AppleStore this morning where (as on my Mac Pro) it seemed to be announcing its name but would not pair. So they replaced it with a new one.
However this will not pair either. Bluetooth preferences says there is a trackpad connected but not paired, even when the trackpad is switched off. I cannot delete the trackpad from the list to try again from scratch. Wireless keyboard and mouse are working fine.
Any thoughts anyone?

Oops, answering my own question: restarting the Mac got rid of the spurious 'connection' and the trackpad then paired OK.

  • HP C4280 Printer Just Stopped Working and Won't connect to Mac

One day it just stopped letting me connect to it. Snow Leopard sees the printer in the list. I click the + button and it sees the printer. I click Add and it acts like it will add it. Then it goes back to the original screen and no printer.
I downloaded HP software for it since I never did that originally. SL just used the builtin drivers. So I installed the HP driver and still nothing. I did open the HP Scan software, funny thing it actually let me scan something through that software but it won't let me print.
What is up? It's way too hard to find any help on the HP Support site. It stinks.
    Please Help.
    Jim

I found this post in Apple Support About the Reset Printing System feature.
This fixed my problem and now I am back to printer. Very nice!! Thank You Apple!

  • WiFi randomly stopped working and won't connect, PLEASE HELP

Okay, so, I have had my 32G, 3rd generation i-pod touch since Christmas and the WiFi has worked since day 1. Today, my WiFi worked all day until about 6 o'clock. I went to google something and it said that my WiFi wasn't connected. So, I went to settings and WiFi and clicked on my router. I entered in the password and it said it was "unable to connect". I have tried this multiple times, reset network settings, turned it off and back on, and tries some more and it still won't work. Then, I went to call Apple Support, but it was too late and the stupid 90 day thing where you can only get support for 90 days after purchase wouldn't have let me ask for help anyways! So, basically, what I am asking is: does anyone have a clue how I can fix my WiFi?
    Help is greatly appreciated!

You can start with this support article about troubleshooting WiFi on an iOS device.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Normally I would also suggest that you update your iOS to version 5 which is out now, but you may want to hold off on that and see if you can resolve the WiFi issue with the troubleshootings steps in the article first.

  • My iphone stopped working and won't connect to iTunes

My phone was working fine and suddenly it didn't want to switch on. I tried holding down the home/lock button but nothing worked. It didn't want to connect to iTunes either. What seems to be the problem?

Make sure it is charged, then try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts.  If this does not work, see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281.  If that does not help visit an Apple store genius bar and have the techs test it.

  • My IPad original's wifi stopped working and won't connect to any hotspot.  What should I do?

I have been using my IPad regularly and it would connect wifi at any hotspot including my home.  Now over the last couple weeks, it will not connect to any hotspot and says it cannot find an internet connection.  I have reset my wifi in the settings and updated the operating system to 4.3.5; and it still will not connect.  Before I take it in to be fixed, any other suggestions?

  • My sons iPod touch stopped working, it won't charge in a docking station and the computer/itunes won't recognize it when connected.  We have tried holding the power and home button at the same time for several seconds, and the screen still stays black

My sons iPod touch stopped working, it won't charge in a docking station and the computer/itunes won't recognize it when connected.  We have tried holding the power and home button at the same time for several seconds, and the screen still stays black.  Thanks!

Hello skdog I possibly think your ipod touch is black because it has not charged. If your dock is broken it might just mean the dock will be broken and so might be the USB port. You should see an Apple shop nearby and hand it over and see what they can do. I hope this information works!

  • I have a 2 year old MacBook Pro and the superdrive has stopped working, it won't take discs in as if there is one already inside but iTunes or the dvd player doesn't recognise that there is a disc inside and if there is it can't be ejected

I have a 2 year old MacBook Pro and the superdrive has stopped working, it won't take discs in as if there is one already inside but iTunes or the dvd player doesn't recognise that there is a disc inside and if there is it can't be ejected, i have tried shutting down and restartinf while holding down the trackpad, as recommended on some forums but that has done nothing
It might be a huge coincidence but the drive was working fine before i installed lion?

Installing Lion would not cause the superdrive to stop working.  Are you unsure as to whether or no a cd/dvd is inside?  Something may be broken inside and you should consider bringing it in for service.

  • I can't Get Magic Trackpad to Work

I have an unusual setup - any help would be appreciated.
Mac Pro 2,1 (2006), original Vista 64 bit install on HD2 formatted NTFS since upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit. Boot Camp drivers 2.x added after install for Mac peripherals. Keyboard and mice including magic Mouse worked fine.
Windows 7 (64 bit) boots and runs fine in this setup. Mac OS 10.7.x installed on HD1 and 10.6.8 installed in HD3, all boot and run fine.
Apple Magic Trackpad is recognized as a Bluetooth device under Windows 7 but won't pair or function. I have downloaded Windows drivers for the trackpad and extracted them using 7Zip, but they fail to install with a "not supported on this system" message. Similarly, I can't upgrade my Boot Camp drivers from 2.x with an error message (wrong) "a later version of Boot Camp is installed on this system".
Having to use a wired mouse is annoying. Any ideas?

got an imac ran windows 7 64bit ultimate on it
installed the boot camp drivers everything was fine
about a year later I updated to win8 pro not a clean install but an update using the digital version not an
    disc version
my magic trackpad still works fine though in windows I have to click it before it wakes and starts to work
    in osx it always works

  • My iphone 5 stopped working, it won't turn on, and i tried charge it yesterday and today

My iphone 5 stopped working it won't turn on, and i tried charge it yesterday and today

    Hey raphaccarvalho
If your iPhone is not powering on, then check out the article below to see if you can get it to power back on. You will want to start at step 3 to try and reset it by holding the Sleep/Wake button and Home button for about 10 seconds and see if the Apple Logo comes up.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
    Regards,
    -Norm G.

  • Magic trackpad only working with a wet finger.

Since I cracked open my box I have not been able to get my magic trackpad to work continously.  While I am able to get a bluetooth connection, when I move my finger across it I only sometimes get a response from the mouse.  This becomes only slightly more effective if I lick my finger or cleaned the surface of the trackpad with a slightly damp towel.  Once the surface and/or finger are completely dry again however, the trackpad returns to it's almost zero response.  Is there some film to remove or special cleaning I should be doing when I opened the box?

I just noticed the same thing = I hadn't used it much but just moved up to Lion and started to and it wouldn't work = but when I read your issue I tried it with a wet finger and it worked.  I can't even read the serial number on it so can't call for help.  Any other suggestions??  I bought it in late April.

  • Magic Mouse stops working under Yosemite

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I've been experiencing an issue where occasionally the Magic Mouse stops working.  I sit there and turn it off, turn it back on, sit there and click the mouse and move it around, but it doesn't connect to the computer.  I go into the Bluetooth Preferences and unpair it, but it doesn't show up on the list of devices and so I can't re-pair it.  Turning the Bluetooth off and then back on doesn't make it show up.  So far, the only thing that seems to help is to restart the computer completely.
Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?

My Mac Mini's power button changed functionality with Mavericks.  Now with a fast click of the power button the Mini sleeps.  A little longer and you get a shut down dialog, and of course, hard shutdown holding for longer still.  I don't know if the MacBook works like that in Yosemite.  If it does, use the button to Sleep, then again to wake, and 99% of the time you have a Magic Mouse again, with Mavericks at least.  Even if the button doesn't work, you can use control-fn-F2 to give the Apple Menu focus, down arrow to go down to Sleep, and Enter to make it happen.  Then wake however you normally do.  Still a nuisance, but slightly less intrusive than Restart, particularly if you have something you haven't saved yet. Worth a try maybe.
I only boot Yosemite for short periods from an external drive so far, so I can't vouch that this will work for it.  I come from a background where you don't install version zero of anything.  I have to say, with a clean install, so far I don't see the problems I read about here.  Maybe I need to work for a whole day with Yosemite sometime.
PS. I just tried turning off the mouse in Yosemite (and saw the disconnection reported).  Went to Sleep.  Turned on the mouse while Sleeping, Woke Up, and the  Magic Mouse reconnected just like Startup.

  • Mid 2011 Macbook Air - Yosemite keyboard and trackpad stopped working, the only button that worked was the power button, only one USB port works.

    I have a Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
    Upgraded to Yosemite last week.
Three days ago I was using my Macbook Air for the first time since upgrading to Yosemite. I had been using my Macbook Air for approximately 30 minutes, I was using safari and the keyboard and trackpad stopped working (would not respond). The only button that worked was the power button.
I rebooted and they were still not working. I plugged in a USB mouse and external USB keyboard, only one USB port would work (the Left USB port if looking at the screen) so I had to swap between keyboard and mouse.
After logging in there is a bluetooth icon at the top of the screen with a sawtooth line through it. Bluetooth is unavailable and the bluetooth icon is missing from the system preferences menu.
If I run a hardware test by holding D (on USB keyboard) at startup it says that no problems are found and at the conclusion of the test the keyboard and trackpad start working again. When I log on the bluetooth is working again.
I shut down the Macbook Air and when I started it again the keyboard and trackpad and right side USB ports were all not working again. I logged in using the USB keyboard and mouse and the bluetooth not available sawtooth icon had returned.
I ran the hardware test again and at the conclusion of the test the trackpad and keyboard started working again.
I have tried deleting com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile from /Library/Preferences/ and tried resetting SMC and Power Functions but this did not fix the issue. The only thing that seems to work is running a hardware test - obviously I don't want to do this every time I use the computer.
I do not believe any hardware is faulty/damaged - I think it has something to do with bluetooth/Yosemite.
I do not have the Macbook with me at the moment, if you have suggestions that I can try or additional checks/info you require please let me know and I can get back to you.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi!
I have exactly the same problem, and I can't find any solution.
I can't even track down the root of the problem: the Bluetooth/Wifi module? The trackpad? The keyboard/top case? The logicboard?
I've tried all the usual: SMC/PRAM reset, clean install, kext cache clearing.
    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!

  • Premiere Pro CC slows down, then  stops working, then won't work, then it won't quit

Premiere Pro CC slows down, then  stops working, then won't work, then it won't quit. So I have to force quit every time.
It does not matter if I am working with HD or 4K - same thing happens.
This began happening about a week ago. Nothing really new has changed. I tried to repair permissions and check this from a new admin account because I know that is what Adobe thinks the answer to every problem is. But it did not change anything.
    Mac 10.10.2
    3.5 ghz 6-core
    Dual D700
    16GB Ram
    CC 2014

Used this tip from Adobe and it worked, all running quick and smooth again.
Hope it works for you too.

  • Magic Trackpad not working on iMac after 10.8.5 update Help!

The Magic Trackpad was working fine antil I did the OS X Lion 10.8.5 Update yesterday and the trackpad has not worked since.

Look your System Preferences - Trackpad and see if it needs adjustment. If sill no joy then try doing a SMC reset 3x and if that fails try resetting the PRAM 3X. If you are not familiar with these please click
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3603
    for instructions.
