2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
System rquirements for OSX Snow Leopard:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of memory
5GB of available disk space
DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.

To use the Magic Trackpad you have to have at least OSX Snow Leopard.
Avaiable to buy for USD 29 at the Apple Store.

Has anyone figured a way to use the magic trackpad with Windows 7 on a partitioned disc using Bootcamp?

Yes. After Windows/Bootcamp discovers  your bluetooth device (Magic Trackpad or Mouse, be sure to make it discoverable), right click, with your wired mouse, of course, on the icon and select Properties.
Then check the mouse drivers box and your device should work. (I located this solution on another thread)
It works for both the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.
Must admit, the solution was not intuitive within the Windows environment. But we all must remember. It IS Windows, after all.
Another thing. Keep in mind that the gestures on these devices that work just dandy in OSX do not carry over into Windows.
    It's Windows.

You would have to buy it separately.  Refurbished machines are sold as they were originally configured so you cannot customize the machine when you order it.

Yes. Pair using Bluetooth with your MacBook Air.

  • Pairing magic trackpad with Macbook10.5.8

Unable to pair my Macbook with the magic trackpad. It prompts me to enter a passkey into the "device" to complete the pairing process. I have no idea how to enter the passkey onto the magic trackpad. All I know is if the green light blinks it is ready to be found.

Good idea to follow the manual.

The key you are being asked to input will be done on your keyboard. This is to make sure you're pairing with the correct device.

  • Magic Trackpad with Chinese writing input

Does the new Magic Trackpad work with OS X 10.6 Chinese writing input as on the Macbook Pro with multi-touch trackpad?
    cheers.

The trick was to deselect all Chinese-input forms and reboot. Then it was available.
Just as a reminder, if you use spaces, you'll probably want to:
    " go to: System/Library/Input Methods/, Find ChineseHandwriting.app
then open system preference, Exposé & Spaces, click on Spaces
then drag ChineseHandwriting.app into the application assignments
then set space to Every Space
Actually, that worked on my MacBook Pro, but it doesn't seem to have worked yet on my Mac Pro. Hmmm... Possibly have to reboot.

  • MAGIC TRACKPAD WITH PAINTSHOP - SPECIAL CONFIGURATIONS AVALIABLE ?

I like the new magic trackpad but not to be used with Photoshop. The pressure needed with the finger to "paint" is far less confortable than using a Magic Mouse.
Is there any special configuration SW to be used to get a better performance with PS ?
    Thanks.

I just noticed the same thing = I hadn't used it much but just moved up to Lion and started to and it wouldn't work = but when I read your issue I tried it with a wet finger and it worked.  I can't even read the serial number on it so can't call for help.  Any other suggestions??  I bought it in late April.

  • Anyone using the magic trackpad with iPhoto 11 in fullscreen mode?

I love fullscreen mode in the new release of iPhoto. Does the magic trackpad make it more iPad/phone like?

To answer you question, no. I have the trackpad and it does NOT make the experience any different than it is on a laptop. There is NOT any iPad like gestures that are included in the Photo App on the iPad. I thought there would be some but unfortunately there are not magic things LIKE the iPad

  • Anybody using Apple's Magic Trackpad with LR?

    Howdy,
The magic trackpad has been getting rave reviews from friends. Is anybody finding it to be especially helpful when using LR?

but only want to see my Lightroom created slideshows.  Possible??
I don't think so.  ATV's photo sharing only pulls from iPhoto or Photostream as far as I know.

  • Magic Trackpad with Bootcamp?

Hi, I have been reading on the support page, that one need Boot Camp 3.1.35 to enable the Magic Trackpad support on a Windows partition. Now 3.1.35 needs obviously 3.1 to be installed. When I try to install 3.1 the installer says I need Boot Camp 3.0... Now the problem starts. There is no Boot Camp 3.0 I can find to download. When running the Mac I have Boot Camp 3.0.1 displayed. So I am confused what this all means? Does somebody know what I need to do to get those Boot Camp versions installed?
    Thanks.

I installed all the various updates last night--just curious, did I miss it or is there no way to reconfigure the magic trackpad under windows (I'm running XP SP3) in bootcamp?
I'm also finding that the sensitivity of taps on the trackpad is pretty poor running under windows, when compared to running under Mac OS X. Not that I'm stunned by that revelation. I'm just curious if others are finding the same thing.
The other "stupid" question I have--the manual says the magic trackpad goes to sleep after inactivity or you can turn it off. There does not seem to be any indication that the trackpad is on or off (since once it is paired the green light goes off).
So the trackpad is "on". Do you just push the on/off button and assume it shut down?

  • What gestures are available on Magic Trackpad with bootcamp

I bought the new Magic Trackpad, installed the Bootcamp drivers and found that only limited actions are possible, in fact the actions available are the same those on the trackpad pad on my laptop. Are the additional functions only available when in OSX?

    Hi,
have a look at this Apple article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4273 on what gestures are avaiable for the various WIndows versions.

  • Can I use a magic trackpad with more than one Mac at a time?

I am attempting to pair a MTP with a second MacBook Pro.  So far I can't get system preferences to find the MTP.
I am wondering whether the MTP can be paired with only one Mac at a time, and that this is why my MBP won't find it.
The reason I am thinking this is because the little booklet that comes with the MTP says 'after you pair your MTP with a Mac, you can pair it again with a different Mac.  To do this, you first remove the existing pairing and then pair the trackpad again'.
    Can anyone advise, please?
If it can be paired with more than one MBP at a time, any suggestions why my system preferences search for the MTP is not producing any results?
    Thanks

Yes, your keyboard, mouse or trackpad can be paired with multiple Macs.  You can even have multiple keyboards, mice or trackpads paired with one Mac.  The caveat is that the device can only be connected to one Mac at a time.  The device can't be paired or connected with a Mac while it's currently connected to another.
Pairing a device with 2 Macs will be troublesome if the Macs are located within 33 ft of each other.  The device will connect with the first available paired Mac and then unavailable to the second.   If the Macs are located outside the 10meter range, it's quite easy to power off the keyboard (forcing a disconnect) then walking the keyboard to Mac 2 and powering the keyboard on.   I do this with a keyboard from my iMac to a Mac Mini in another room.

  • My Magic Trackpad lost functionality with my iMac (Lion)

    Hi--
I have been using a Magic Trackpad with my iMac (Lion 10.7.5) for over a year. This morning I find that I've lost several functions, including the double-tap + drag to select text, and now the three-finger swipe registers the same as the two-finger swipe. I know the problem is the iMac and not the trackpad itself; I tried unpairing the trackpad with the iMac and pairing it with a Mini (same OS), and all of the functions are working when paired with the Mini.
Having looked for others with similar issues, I've tried the steps of zapping the PRAM, deselecting/selecting the trackpad preferences, and looking for plist preference files that look like they are trackpad related (but didn't recognize any--am I looking in the wrong place?).
FWIW I was having problems with Time Machine just a week or two ago and performed a system software reinstall from Recovery Mode, which fixed the Time Machine issues. But I believe the trackpad was working fine until this morning--at least the click-and-drag selection b/c I use that function daily.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Okay, so I think I've figured out most of this. Many thanks to jefflogullo, whose post I found my answer on. Resetting everything on Universal Access solved most of my issues with double-tapping. Why on earth did they move it out of trackpad settings?

  • Can I disable the internal trackpad if I am using the magic trackpad

I am using the magic trackpad with my 11" MacBook Air and want to disable the notebook trackpad. Is this possible. No obvious setting in the system trackpad  preferences.

Yes, It's in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > check "ignore internal trackpad when external mouse or trackpad present.
