  • How can I script Adobe Reader updates using vbScript, PowerShell or C#?

I would like to script Adobe Reader updates using vbScript, PowerShell or C#, are there any Adobe API calls I use to do this.  There are several different version that I support and auto update is not an option. I do updates at a specific time of the month. I would like to write a script that would download and install the update for the currently installed version of Adobe Reader (32 or 64 bit) for the version of the OS (32 or 64bit). I can detect the OS version and the Adobe version.  I can download updates but I do not want to hard code anything

    Sabian is correct.
Most admins download the updates from the ftp site and push via AIP, GPO, SCCM, or some other method whenever it makes sense for them.

  • Wrong language after Adobe Reader Update with SCCM/SCUP

After installation of the Reader Update 10.1.4 the language of the Adobe Reader changed from german to english and can not be set back to german.
I did a complete uninstall of Adobe Reader and did a manual install with AdbeRdr1014_de_DE.exe, but the reader UI is stil in english, but displaying "Deutsch" in the options dialog.
deployed with System Center Configuration Manager 2012 with System Center Updates Publisher 2011 and Adobe SCUP Catalog.

You may want to use this tool to remove all traces of previous version(s) of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, if you want to reinstall Reader, download the offline installer of the version you want from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Why do old Adobe PDF files which I attach to a document show as Firefox files instead of an Adobe PDF file after an Adobe Reader update??

Why do old Adobe PDF files which I attach to a document show as Firefox documents in my files instead of an Adobe PDF file after an Adobe Reader update?  My saved files Adobe PDF documents also appear as Firefox documents instead of Adobe PDF files.

NO MATTER WHAT VERSION OF WINDOWS YOU'RE USING:
Right click one of the PDFs with the Word icon.
    Select "Properties"
Where it says "Opens With" there is a button to change it from Word to Adobe Reader, which should be in the list of available programs that pops up.
Choose Reader, and click APPLY before clicking OK.
That will change ALL PDFs to Reader as the default application.

  • I've not been able to install reader updates, can't print a pdf. after several attempts, I uninstall

The same is happening with the flash player. i have read the instructions, tried many times but still nothing. can anyone assist me?

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • After most recent Reader update can't save fillable forms.

After the most recent Adobe Reader XI update, we can no longer save PDFs with fillable forms on the first save attempt. A little background for you. We have forms that we periodically need to change the information in. My users came to me with this issue, when I tried it, I could save. Naturally I thought it was a rights issue since I am an admin, but I checked for Reader updates first to make sure I was on the same version. There were updates for mine, after installing them I have the same issue now. When I change the data in a fillable form, the first attempt to save I am told that it can't be saved and I will need to use a different filename or location. I click OK, after clicking OK my document name in the title bar canges from whatever.pdf to something random.tmp. Now, since it is technically a different document open I can save it to the file I want it to be. Is there a new option or function causing this? This has never been an issue in the past with these PDFs.

    Hi,
Are you still facing this issue? What is the current version of Reader installed.
    Regards,
    Ajlan Huda.

  • Bug in all Adobe Reader Updates.

Recently i have take notice of a bug in all the updates i get of Adobe Reader.
When i first installed Adobe Reader i think i can remember choosing not to create a desktop shortcut.
But whenever Adobe Reader updates, a desktop shortcut is created!
Now, as i have chosen not to have the shortcut, the fact that one is created with every single update, must clearly be a bug.
None of my other applications does this.
Is it possible with a fix? or does Adobe go the way of so many other software developers does? "It's not a bug, It's a feature!"
(bah! this was not supposed to be marked as a question, just a bit of a rant, but i'm new to the forums, so i didn't notice the option)
    Message was edited by: Rofleman

    Thank you for the correction.
Been a while since i did a proper install of Reader. Mostly just do silent push install on our clients.
Still don't think it is correct of the bug/update to create a desktop shortcut though...
If someone want the desktop shortcut, they most likely will have it on the desktop allready, and those who doesn't have it on the desktop, are those who have removed it, and thus most likely doesn't want it back.
So not adding the desktop shortcut would actually shrink the size of the update. Not by much, but that is irrelevant.
It's a useless thing, that doesn't need to be there.

  • Consistant Acrobat Reader Update Problems

Why the hell can't adobe produce an acrobat reader update that doesn't feel the need to drop an icon on the desktop if it does not find one there?
This apparent need to mark you territory is highly annoying. Or can't you figure out how to disable it in the patch utility?

You mean Acrobat.com?  This is an outdated software which has been replaced with online services at https://www.acrobat.com/

  • Adobe reader update 9.3.4

    Hello,
I have tried to update adobe reader to the 9.3.4 version. It seems to be accomplised. The reader says it is the correct version. When I go to secunia.com, it says still have the 9.3.xxx  before .4
If I mouse over the exe file in explorer, it still says it is the old version.
What is wrong?  Seems maybe they forgot to have the tag in explorer changed.??????????

  • Adobe Reader update 11.0.09   Broke my mouse magnifier.  I uninstalled but now I get prompts to install.  How do I get rid of the prompts?

My gawd this site is the most ridiculously difficult site I've ever seen.  Round and round we go and where we stop nobody knows.  Will someone please tell me how to make the prompt for Adobe Reader update 11.0.09 go away??   It already shows that number was d/l'd in Sept. 2014.  I d/l'd it the other day and it broke the magnifier on my microsoft 5000 mouse.  I use that a LOT.  I can't lose it.  I uninstalled the update and now I get prompts continuously.  What to do?

Thank you I will try that.  Why am I being prompted to d/l an old update?  I didn't even know there was a more recent one.

  • How to Disable the Adobe Flash Player and Reader Updates

Ok, For the last two months or so, I have been plagued by the Adobe Flash Player and Reader updater that will not go away. That's not the worst thing though: Somehow, someway, the Adobe updater subverts my entire windows 7 machine and makes itself the most important program on my system, stopping all other necessary functions. After I just turn it on, the updater will suspend all Windows operations in favor of the updater getting its message out the Adobe "needs" updating. I have tried updating the stupid thing, only to find that after the update goes in, my whole computer locks up and I have to load a system restore point. This thing acts like a virus, and until someone comes up with a way to make it work properly, that's what I'm calling: Adobe creates and sells a computer killing virus. I want a sure fire way to disable the updater that will work, and that will never bug me again about updating the virus. After going through three different computer repair companies, many online forums and chat rooms and my own knowledge of how to disable programs, I have instructed my firewall to block all attempts by Adobe to update. This has to stop.
