Magma-box and DAQ PCI 6034E card

I had installed a magma-box (64-bit 2 Slot Series) on my laptop. And I installed NI-DAQ 7.1. Than I had plug the PCI-6034E card in the magma-box. My laptop identify the PCI-6034E daq card in the Device Manager; but with a yellow exclamation point and give the Error code 10 (Cannot start the device). The same used with the PCI-6377 card.
I have tried with the cards in the differend slots.

Hey Wim,
I am not sure what a magma-box is. I have searched all over google and I haven't been able to find one. This brings up my next question of how you are installing a PCI-6034E and PCI-6377 on the laptop. National Instruments driver does not support this and I am pretty sure the DMA on the devices wouldn't work as well. The main difference between the PCMCIA devices National Instruments sell and the PCI devices is the DMA channels. If you need to use a laptop I would recommend purchasing the DAQCards or DAQPads that can connect to USB, Firewire, or PCMCIA slots. These devices are supported on laptops. The PCI devices are designed to work on desktop computers with standard PCI busses that allow for DMA channels and ISA based interrupts.
I hope
this helps out.

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to read data from the  DAQ PCI-6034E board using RTX ?
    thanks

    Hi,
I think you have to write a register level driver for the PCI-6034E to use RTX... No National Instruments driver exists for E series and RTX.
Below is a link to help you ....
    http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/5978CE4A83119E50862566FA0075F424?OpenDocument&node=13210...
Personnally, I recommend you to use new M series (similar to E series) because they are supported under RTX via NI-DAQmx Base 2.0.

    mac pro and motu PCIe
i recently upgraded to the mac pro from a G5 and now my motu 2408 mkIII sound card does not work.
i installed the motu PCIe 424 pci card from motu and installed the latest UB drivers, followed the instructions to the letter, repeated numerous times in every pci e slot with only temporary luck. it worked briefly and then when the computer slept i lost the connection with the interface and have not been able to regain it.. yes i re-installed to the letter again. the pcie card is seen by the computer but it cannot seen the external rack mounted 2408 via the audiowire that connects it. yes i tried other cables. the unit worked fine on my G5.
i have heard of others with the same problem after updating the firmware to SMC 1.7. my mac pro came with the latest firmware.

To my surprise I had five software updates waiting for me. Among them Pro App update, two of them, and this SMC update. After I updated my MOTU PCI-424 audio interface no longer works. Tried installing MOTU drivers again, still nothing. It can't communicate with its audio interfaces. So right now, this amazing update from Apple stopped me from working, and I am on a pretty tight deadline. I hope I'll find a solution ASAP

  • 975X and a PCI Controller Card

I am trying to install another SATA controller card to I can flash my firmware on my 360. But for what ever reason this board (975X) isn't allowing me to ever boot to the PCI card.
Any ideas on what settings I need to pick to do it?
    Thanks!

I think I have tried that and nothing worked. The card is seen in Windows but just not while booting. I'll try it again here once my computer is done doing some things to where I can reboot. I wanted to make sure I was doing it right and it sounds like I am.

  • PCIe Graphics Card with Magma T/Bolt Expansion box

Does anyone here have a good or bad experience with the Radeon 5770 or 5870 cards used in a Magma Thunderbolt expansion box in conunction with a MacMini?
I'm looking to purchase a graphics card to go into my Magma box, but not sure which card will be supported in this configuration.
    Thanks,
    NE

I have seen a couple people were unable to boot OS X if they had an Nvidia 8800 installed. You'll need something that OS X can see IF you want to see early bootup messages (such as Vista startup options).
Can't say I've seen a message with "Marox" mentioned. So only way to know for certain is old trial and error.
There are newer graphics cards coming out. There is the Radeon X1900 (which is over-due for an update), and the Nvidia 8600 GTS series works in Vista and at least doesn't block OS X from working, but is only a step above X1900.
Apple sells a $1600 Nvidia for 3D. And as you can see, graphics options is a "weak spot."

  • 64 channel 1450 Hz data logging with PCI-6033E card, on-line averaging and viewing the raw and averaged signal in CWGraphs.

I'm acquiring 64 channels at sampling rate of about 1450kHz continuously and showing the data second by second in a CWGraph. Now, I would like to add an on-line averaging for all of those 64 channels and show it in another CWGraph. The averaging should occur with respect of external trigger and the sample should consist of about 100ms prestimulus and 500ms poststimulus period. Has anybody been handling this sort of things? How it's solved with ComponentWorks and Visual Basic?
I'm using double Pentium 700MHz processors and NI-DAQ PCI-6033E card.

    1. To get started with external triggering check out the examples in the Triggering folder that install with CW under MeasurementStudio\VB\Samples\DAQ\Triggering.
    2. Create a prestimulus buffer that always contains the latest 100 ms of data. Just modify the CWAI1_AcquiredData event to transfer ScaledData (the data acquired) to your prestimulus buffer. See how there will always be a prestimulus buffer of data regardless of trigger state?
    3. On the trigger, you can use the same CWAI1_AcquiredData event to route the data into poststimulus buffer and average the 2.
    I see something like this:
    if no trigger
100 ms of data to prestimulus buffer
    if trigger
500 ms of data to poststimulus buffer
    averaging and display function
    reset trigger and buffers
    good luck

    Hi Rimi,
While searching for a possible solution to your question, I came across a Knowledgebase entry on our web site. Its ID is 251BSUKN. Although PCI-6023 is not specififcally included there, taking a look at it might provide you some good insight into the problem. Also in this knowledge base, you will find an attachment of the kdf files. Please do take a look at the tutorial under the related links too. To access the knowledgebase, go to ni.com/support and type this knowledgebase ID in the search box at the bottom of the page.

  • Code 10 pci 6034e

    Hello,
I have a problem with my LabView and I'm running out of ideas how to fix it. In 2002 I designed a software for data aquisition based on LabView 6.1 using a PCI 6034E card. Since then everything was working fine. A few days ago I had to switch PCs.
I installed LabView 6.1 on the new PC. Afterwards I shut down the system, plugged in the 6034E and reboot the PC. Windows discovered the new hardware succesfully and installed a driver from the LabView Driver CD.
Unfortunately my device manager is telling me that the 6034E is producing a Code 10 error. Until now I have tried to install the newest driver from NI, reinstalling LabView and the drivers multiple times.
The only difference I could encounter betweed the two PCs is that the old PC is operated with Windows XP SP 2 and the new one uses SP 3.
Do you have any ideas what could cause the problem?
    Best regards,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Tobias,
thank you for your reply. I already tried installing the DAQmx 7.0 yesterday evening. It worked fine with the PCI 6034E. Unfortunately I couldn't use my programm any more, because some sub vi are incompatible with DAQmx above verson 6.9.3.
However, I managed to solve the problem. There might have been a comflict between the PCI 6034E and the computers video card. I deaktivated the videocards PCI port in Bios and switched to on board graphics. Then I uninstalled all National Instruments software, for a fresh start. After a reboot, video card still disabled, I installed LabView 6.1 and DAQ 6.9.3. After inserting the PCI 6034E now, everything went flawlessly. Windows recognized the card and installed the drivers. According to MAX the card works fine and my programm is also running.
After this I enabled the video card again, via bios. Still everything is working fine. I can't tell you how the video card could have caused the trouble, but one should keep this in mind for the future.
    Best regards,
    Theodor

  • Acoustic Time of Flight Calculation with PCI-6034E

I'm trying to measure the amount of time sound takes to travel through a specific medium with Labview 7 and a PCI-6034E DAQ card. So far, I have the speaker connected to ctr0 and that generates the specific frequency that I want. I want to have the program run the sound and then stop it when I hit a button and then measure the amount of time it takes for the microphone to stop receiving the sound. I don't know how to use the analog input (from the microphone) to trigger some sort of timing device. This timing needs to be as accurate as possible. Thanks for your help.

I don't know what your fluid is, but I just looked up info on sonar which gives a propagation speed of nearly 1 mile/sec in water. That leaves you with <30 microseconds to traverse your 40 mm container.
Soooo...., I don't know if you can do your measurement with a 6034E. It's max sampling rate is 200 kHz or 5 microseconds/sample. I doubt that'll be enough resolution to reliably distinguish the varations in time-of-flight that you're after.
If you're stuck with the 6034E, you'll probably need to perform the measurement with one of its counters and then build a little external interface circuitry. There's several ways, here's one:
Use ctr0 to generate a single high pulse with a duration longer than your worst case time-of-flight. Use ctr0_out to switch on a transistor that allows your ultrasonic stimulus signal to get through to the speaker. ctr0_out should also be NAND'ed with a signal to be desribed in the next paragraph.
Run the mike signal into a comparator and let the comparator's output drive a latch. The idea is to produce a digital rising edge at the instant the mike first receives a significant signal, i.e., your stimulus. NAND this signal with ctr0_out and pass the result into ctr1_gate.
Configure ctr1 for event counting, set to count 'while gate is high'. (Under the newer DAQmx, the terminology is 'pause trigger.') Software select its source to be the internal 20 MHz timebase.
    How it works:
Start ctr1 first, then ctr0. On the rising edge of ctr0's pulse, ctr1 will increment once every 50 nanoseconds (i.e., counting cycles of the 20 MHz internal clock). ctr1 will stop incrementing when the mike detects a sound level above the threshold you've set up in your circuit, driving the . The value of ctr1 multiplied by 50 nanoseconds is your time-of flight.
Then, software reset your counters, hardware reset the latch, change or manipulate your fluid, and try again.
There's very likely a simpler solution. Anyone?

  • Thermistor wiring in cb-68lp with PCI 6034E

I have a CB-68LP pinout board with a PCI 6034E card on a computer with XP and LabVIEW 7.0.  I have been using type K thermocouples to collect temperatures in a lab and have had no problems thanks to previous help.  I am now going to be moving my temperature collection out doors where I will need to run ~1000 ft of wire to reach my destination.  I want to switch from thermocouples to thermistors to save money on wiring.  I have done a little research on thermistors and there are still unanswered questions.  I know thermocouples connect differentially but I could not find information about how thermistors connect?  Since it is just measuring a change in resistance my guess was that it is single ended but I want to make sure.  That is the main question, if anyone has suggestions on current excitation values or possible problems that I might expect that would be great also.  Thanks

    Gorman,
With NI-DAQmx and Measurement Automation Explorer there is actually a feature called connection diagram which will let you select your connection block and tell you exactly which pins you need to connect your sensor to, whether it is a thermistor or a thermocouple.  You can actually set up a thermistor measurement in Measurement and Automation Explorer for current excitation and voltage excitation seperately.
For example, I created a current excitation thermistor task in Measurement and Automation Explorer running into ai0 (channel 0) and I clicked on the connection diagram tab at the bottom.  Here is the diagram that I got.
As you can see, you just need to connect to pins 68 and 34.
There is also an example program that you can download, which is in LabVIEW.  Here it is.
    Hope all this helps.

  • Noise measurment of an accelerometer with the PCI-4461 card

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to measure the noise of an single axis accelerometer with a PCI-4461 card.
First, I have manually measured this noise using an HP35665 signal analyser. I obtain something like this:
And now with LabView and the PCI-4461 card, I get this:
My question is: where does this part come from? And how to remove it ? (Since it doesn't exist with the signal analyser)
    I'm using LabView 8.5.
This is how I configured the DAQ acquisition:
    and this is my VI:
Thank you in advance for helping

    Hello
Yes indeed, the time signal seems to have two paterns (in green below), once negative and positive once about 50 ms later. This pattern is repeated with a frequency of 0.94 Hz (for simplicity let's say 1Hz).
I have reproduced this pattern with matlab using a decreasing exponential:
I have obtained this spectral signal:
That closely looks like what disturbs the spectrum, indeed..
Then I have tried to output a sinewave and acquire it:
    I didn't see any problem.
So I made the measurment with other sensors.
The sensors are ICP accelerometers. The sensors that I am using are in page 7 of these document:
    https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fvibrasens.com%2Fimages%2Fpdf%2FVS_Catalog.pdf
(I'm currently doing an intership in this company)
And finally I found that the problem came from the cable: when I use the shielded cables, the problem is present; and when I use "normal" cable, there is not the problem, as you can see :
(In red, the sensor is connected with a non shielded cable, and in white, with a shielded one.)

  • USB PCI-Express Card half working???

    I just purchased and installed a SYBA PCI-Express USB 2.0 5 Ports Controller Card (Model SD-PEX-NEC5U) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186010&Tpk=SD-PEX-NEC5U
I think it's half-way working. I did some researching prior to my purchase and I was under the impression that the Mac Pro (2006) could accept any PCI-express card. I have my Kensington USB bluetooth adapter plugged in (to the internal port) and it powers the adapter light and both my wireless mouse and wireless keyboard work perfectly. However any of the devices I plugged into the rear 4 ports are not working... (ie my Western Digital 1 TB hard drive that has 2 partitions on - one for Time machine backups and one for regular storage)
According to the Syba website, Mac OSX is not listed as a supported OS. The card came with a drivers disc but doesn't have any Syba drivers on it... tons of other manufacturers.
Can anyone offer advice about installing drivers or "adding hardware" (a la Windows)? Again, it's working with my bluetooth... so whats up with my hard drive?

A safe place to check and start your research is OWC.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/add-ons-and-hubs/pci-pcmcia-cards
As for MyBook - they can be iffy; if a drive fails, it is built into the case, so I prefer to buy cases with USB/FW and that you can install a drive yourself, even if comes with one.
USB: when there is FireWire and you can easily add SATA PCIe, yes they cost more but then they can drive multiple drives at full performance too.
When you buy generic cards, see if they use the same chipset as found in Sonnet Allegro and others.
    Then check
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ for reports in their upgrade database and articles.
And no, it requires PCIe, but not just any (and even PC with Windows 7, some cards can also be problem).

  • Front audio with PCI sound card?

Well, the front audio on my Antec P160W worked perfectly with the integrated sound, but I changed to my SoundBlaster Audigy Player because of the HORRIBLE audio quality. Now the front audio ports don't work. What do I need to do to make it work again? I'm not going back to the integrated.
At first I thought that I had to put the connectors for the front audio on the sound card, but the manual of it doesn't show any of those features.

I was wondering that myself. The only thing I think you could possibly do is have both the onboard and the pci sound card enabled and use the onboard sound just for the headphones. I have no tried this yet as I do have the cables connected to the mobo but I have the onboard sound disabled.
