Magnavox Blu Ray not connecting to Airport Express

I just got a new Blu Ray player. I use an Airport Express as my router. I can connect to it with my MacBook and so can my GF. I can connect with my Android phone. For some reason, I can't connect with my Blu-Ray player. Any advice?

Sorry, I was just trying to rule out other possibilities. Common connectivity problems arise when employing either or both a closed network or MAC filtering. Since you are using neither that eliminated those potential causes as well.
Since you have your network configured for 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) mode, the only other thing I can suggest is to change it to: 802.11b/g compatible. You would do this via the AirPort Utility.
(ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless > Radio Mode) Note: You will have to hold down the Option key before select the Radio Mode to get the additional mode options.
If the Blu-Ray can now connect, then the issue is the 802.11n implementation (is for some reason) incompatible with the player's wireless adapter.

Iphone will not connect to airport express extended network - macbook and ipad will without problems.
iphone will connect to base station no problems, I've restored settings and started again but still the same, the iphone picked up the network for the last couple of months, but not now ?

I'm having the same issue. My AExpress used to give a good signal strength on the far side of the house extending he network created by my Extreme. However, I've noticed lately that my iPhone does not receive the same strong signal it once did. AE has a green light, I've rebooted it, and my Extreme but there is no change in signal strength. Other than the green light, how can I tell if the Express is working if I don't get a good network signal?

  • Wireless iBook not connecting to Airport Express

As in previous discussions i've seen, all of a sudden my iBook which i have used for quite some time now without any major problems will not find my airport express wirelessly, i am using a router and the same connection for my desktop (hardwired) and the desktop works 100%, i've even replaced the cable from the router to my Airport Express and when I take the very same cable that goes from the router to the AE but plug it straight into my iBook it works 100%, but when plugged into the "AE" the iBook is not finding it, or actually it does come up in the list of available wireless ports (I live in new York city so there's a bunch on there at any given time) but it does find mine automatically as it used to, but when I try to connect to it when i find it in the list, it says "There was an error joning the AirPort network"... if i hit 'try again' several times it it will evntually (somrtimes after 3 tries othertimes after 30 tries)... but even after it says in the menue bar that I am connected with 100% strength, nither iTunes Air tunes finds the AE connection nor Safari (which says "You are not connected to the internet.")
At the browsers suggestion i then go to the network diagnostics and run through the prompts, until it gets to the 'Select AirPort network" window and nothing shows up.
Then i tried the AirPort Admin utility and it does not find my base station either.
My connection to the internet is 100% without the AE, so obviously something is wrong with my iBook airport card or the AE itself.
Yesterday I uplaoded the newest software 6.2 then reset the AE and actually it worked 2 sessions, then I got back on later in the evening and was having all the same problems...
so I read on these discussions that going back to 6.1.1 was what was helping others, well so far it has made no difference here.
that said the signal that it did find after trying again and again and that does show up in the pulldown signal menue drops off eventually... and all this while still not being able to connect to the internet or airtunes wirelessly. and again all the while my connection on my desktop (hardwired through the same router) works 100% (I have verizon DSL and it's pretty great.
THE AIRPORT EXPRESS GREEN LIGHT IS ON as well.
I have not done a 'hard 5 second re-set" of the AE becuae i thought it might be difficult to imput all the settings all over again, since i did not set it up myself originally... is this my only choice? can some one give me any other ideas? thank you.

    Glen,
I feel your pain buddy - same issue here. I have a PG G4 running AE as well. I have internet through Comcast which is coming from the wall, into the modem, and then to the AE. I have faced similar problems as you at least twice in the past three days. Tonight I went to check my e-mail after reading for a couple hours and my drop-down showed a check next to my network, the AE status light was green, and it looked fine. However, when I went to check e-mail I was not connected and same thing with internet. I finally launched Airport Admin Utility and my base station did not show up in the source list - hmmmm?
I am a little concerned about this myself because it is frustration. If you push the reset button on your base station while it's still plugged into power and hold it down for five seconds it will go through a "hard" reset (keep in mind this is not the same as a "factory default" reset). Have you done this before? It takes about 45 seconds. When done and the status light is back to green, you can join the Apple network _______ (some strange numbers) from your airport drop down and then launch Apt. Admin Utility. When you double click on your base station from the admin utility it will come up with a list of profiles. It will allow you to select your previous saved profile from a list. Click on your previous profile, click OK, and the AE will reset with your previous settings. This has gotten mine back up and running, but it's a littl disconcerting that it's happened so much
Any other thoughts out there? Anyone else having these problems and have suggestions for troubleshooting?

  • Xbox 360 does not connect to Airport Express wireless network

I'm at my wits ends. I got a my son a wireless adapter for Christmas and for the life of me cannot get it to work. We have looked at all the discussion forums on the internet and did A LOT of trial and error and still to connection. On one occasion the xbox 360 wireless adapter saw the network and once it tried to connect is dropped.
I have a Wii, two windows PC's, a printer and a PowerMac all connected to my wireless router. The xbox and the Airport Express both have the latest firm ware update.
These are some of the things I have noticed and tested:
    1. Connection is Cable Modem>Vonage Router>Airport Express....wireless to Xbox360
    2. I have taken the vonage router out to go
Cable Modem>Airport Express...wireless to Xbox360 and still no luck.
    3. I was suspecting a double NAT and contacted Comcast to see if I could put the cable modem in bridge mode and they couldn't help me.
    4. The network is open (no security)
    5. The wireless adapter is a steady red...then when I tell it to find the network it drops out (LED turns off)
    6. I have tried to see if I have a double NAT but tracing in the network utility does not show anything.
    7. I have tried to place the Airport express in bridge mode and when I updated, it doesn't not come back up and I have to do a hard reset to communicate to it again.
    8. There was one instance when the wireless adapter LED was green for about 15 secs and when we tried to connect it dropped out completely (no LED light).
    9. I know it works because in the various forums I have read that people have it working.
I called xbox support and they were not very helpful...wouldn't even search similar cases...I have tried everything I could think of and I'm lost any assistance is appreciated.

    Tesserax,
What is the make/model of the Comcast-provided modem? How about the Vonage router? Is this router also wireless? Finally, I assume that prior to introducing the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), the modem & Vonage router were working properly ... correct?
Thanks for your interest in helping me. To answer your questions:
    1. The comcast make and model for the cable modem is Scientific American Model#DPX2203
    2. The vonage router is ethernet hard wired connected between the cable modem and the apple express wireless route. The vonage router is model#VDV21-VD
    3. With the exception of the wireless connection between the Xbox 360 and AX; everything works fine.
    4. The AX is running Apple firm ware 6.3
In the discussion I have read of similar problems and have tried them all to no avail. I'm sure the is a fix to this problem because of people in the discussion groups have had the same issues. I don't suspect the wireless router because it has a steady red light and only turns off when we do the network test or scan for networks.

  • ITunes not connecting to Airport Express

Trying to play music through remote speakers. Get an iTunes error message stating remote speakers can't be found. The airport express is set up properly, and worked great for months. Now its not letting me play any music. The express is recognized in the airport utility, and I am pretty sure its set up right. Running through a wireless system on the airport extreme. Any help would be appreciated.

Temporarily, plug a pair of headphones into the AirPort Express and listen to them to see if you can hear an audio signal. If you can, the AirPort Express is working fine and the problem is most likely in your connecting cable between the Express and your stereo.
If you hear no sound in the headphones, then you may have a problem with the AirPort Express or the connection between your wireless router and the AirPort Express. Position the Express close to the wireless router and use the headphones again to see if you pickup a signal at that location. If you do, then move the Express further away and test again, etc.

  • Ipad 2 not connecting to airport express

Hi have this very strange issue.
I have a wifi network with an airport extreme as main wifi unit and an airport express as wifi extender. My macbook, iphone 3gs, ipad 1 work perfectly fine: when put in the "low airport extreeme signal area" they show full signal because get connection from the airport express. My ipad 2 does not. I tried tinkering with settings but no success. Any clue?

Are both of your AirPort base stations 802.11n models? If so, then check out this Apple Support article to be sure you didn't miss anything.

  • IBook not connecting to AirPort Express, other computers work

I have not been able to connect our iBook to Airport Express, however our two other computers are able to access the network. I can connect to the network however I am not able to surf the web on the iBook. Oddly, if we take the iBook elsewhere - like a coffee shop - it can connect.
I did a hard re-set of the Airport (paperclip while plugging in). The iBook can see the base station within the Airport setup utility but is unable to connect. Our other computers can still access the new Apple jf83j39 network.
    Suggestions?

Welcome to the discussions forums blajer.
    Well, that is really weird.
    Try creating a new location:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and click Network.
Choose Edit Locations from the Location pop-up menu, and then click Add .
For each network connection setting, enter the same settings that your other computers are using. For example, click TCP/IP > configure IPv4 "using DHCP" etc. DNS > Make sure the DNS Server(s) fields are empty or are in greyed-out type. Try turning OFF IPv4.
Click Apply and wait a moment. Does anything change? What does your IPv4 address show now?

  • Windows does not connect to Airport Express with WPA-Enterprise

    Hey,
we are using some AirPort-Express stations at our office to provide a wireless network to our staff.
The APs use WPA/WPA2-Enterprise (linked to a RADIUS-Server) to check the users authority.
On Macs and iOS devices the connection to AP works fine but if we try to connect a Windows client, Windows shows up the login-screen, checks the password (if you try a wrong password it shows the login-screen again) but then it says that no connection is possible. We also tried it on another laptop (both using Windows 7 Professional), but it still does not work.
    Can anybody help us?
    Thanks!

This issue is often caused by Windows firewall, and sometimes caused by wireless interfernece. Try disabling the firewall or other anti-virus software. You can also directly connect you AE to your computer via ethernet to access the configuration.
If all else fails, you have hard reset the AE device and reconfigure.

  • Old Airport card (b protocol) will not connect to Airport Express

    Hi,
I have an one year old Intel IMac running OS/X 10.5.7 and recently bought the Airport express. Setup went smooth and fast and within 10 minutes it was working. I did all the software and firmware updates.
Then I connected my wife's Windows laptop, network was detected and the password was accepted immediately so I got that connected as well.
Last, but apparently not least, I tried to connect my G3 iBook running OSX 10.2.8 with an Airport card (not the extreme but the predecessor) so I could use that one in the garden but it will not connect.
When I open the airport icon on the top of the screen then I see the network. If I select it and try to connect I have to enter a password. After a few seconds I get a message that "There was an error joining the selected Airport network".
When I use the Airport Setup assistant to establish the connection if tells me that "the password you entered was incorrect".
I was told that the Airport Express station is able to use a 801.11b protocol since that is what the old card uses.
I checked the password, I used textedit to type it first and the 'cut and paste' but nothing seems to work.
Long story but I hope I gave enough information for someone to resolve this problem for me. I cannot reply immediately to all replies but I will read them all.
    Thank you,
    Henk

Hello CarreraHenk. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
When I open the airport icon on the top of the screen then I see the network. If I select it and try to connect I have to enter a password. After a few seconds I get a message that "There was an error joining the selected Airport network".
Which wireless encryption standard are you using on your new 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station's (AXn) wireless network ... WEP, WPA or WPA2?
For WPA, the minimum requirements are the AirPort Card & OS X 10.3.n. The AirPort Card will not support WPA2.

  • IPad2 will not connect to Airport Express.

    Hi,
I'm now experiencing problem when trying to connect my iPad2 running on iOS 5.1.1 to my Airport Express. It has been connecting automatically for the past one year. This morning instead of connecting automatically the setting/WiFi menu prompt me to set up an airport base station. When I tapped the AirPort Express tab it then shows a pop-up with the message, "This AirPort Express named .... cannot be set up by this software. Go to apple.com/support/airport".
I've tried several times to reconnect as well as set up the airport base station. I even tried a reset/forced shut down on my iPad. Each time I got the same pop-up message.
Curiously, I have no problem connecting to the same airport base station using my MacBook. It works and connects to the internet just fine.
Has anyone experienced the same problem and found the solution?
Thanks for your attention and assistance.

    Hi,
I don't have answer for you but I tried all the same things as you but still have difficulty. It's funny that we have the same laptop and not being able to get Ipads recognised. If you get a reply I will be most interested

  • BDP-N460 Blue Ray - Wanting to implement Airport Express (802.11n) as Wi-Fi

    Hi All,
My intention is to use my Airport Express (802.11n) as a Wi-Fi bridge for the BDP-N460 (Streaming Video). I am clearly missing a step. I have read many posts and followed what seemed like specific directions, to no avail. If anyone can help by shedding some light on this process, I would greatly appreciate it.
    All the Best,
    NgM

I may have to wait to do the tests in the same room as the Linksys. What would the tests include? Setting up the Express directly to the (cable) modem?
This was a suggestion to test signal strength. If you want to try to configure it now, here is how you would do so:
It is critically important that you know the exact type of security that the Linksys router is using. Otherwise, you will not be able to match up the settings and the Express will not connect to the Linksys wireless. It would be great if the Linksys was using no security, but I doubt that this is the case.
Hold in the reset button on the AirPort Express until you see the amber light begin to blink more quickly. Hold another second or two when you see this, then release the reset button.
Temporarily, connect an ethernet cable from your computer to the AirPort Express.
Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab (under the row of icons) to assign a name to your Express, a device password (write this down) and adjust Time Zone settings
Click the Wireless tab (under the row of icons)
Wireless Mode = Join a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = If the Express "sees" a strong enough signal from the Linksys, you will see the name of the Linksys wireless network. Click to select. If you do not see the name of the Linksys wireless network displayed as a choice, I'm afraid that the wireless signal is too weak and this will not work.
Place a check mark next to Allow ethernet clients. This activates the ethernet port
Wireless Security = Exact setting as the Linksys. This is always the most difficult part of trying to get an Express to join a wireless network. It won't pick the right setting by itself. You have to tell is exactly what to do.
Wireless Password = Password for the Linksys network if security is being used
    Confirm Password
Click the Update button at the lower right of the window. Don't panic when the AirPort Express "disappears" from AirPort Utility, this is normal. As soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored to the Express, close AirPort Utility and disconnect the ethernet cable. The Express will restart and if your settings are correct, you will have a green light in 20-25 seconds.
If you don't get a green light, something is wrong with the configuration settings, probably the security setting. You'll have to start all over again with the reset of the Express and try again.
Now, test the connection by first plugging your computer in to the Express, (turn off wireless on the computer) and see if you can get an internet connection. If you can, it should be simply a matter of plug and play with the Sony, following the instructions in the manual. Almost all Audio/Video devices will connect to the internet automatically when they have an ethernet connection. No special configuration is normally required.
The success of your connection will depend on the quality of the wireless signal that is available to the AirPort Express.
Good luck, post back on your results.

  • My pc do not connect to airport express

i just got an airport extreme, but my pc (sony vio) dose not connect to internet

My first suggestion would be to go through the written set up guide that came with the extreme.  In a nutshell:
    Connect the extreme to your modem via an ethernet cable;
    Power up the extreme;
    If it doesn't start on its own, start your Airport Utility (make sure its up to date);
    Go through the steps to set up your wireless network;
Make sure your PC is connected to the extreme with an ethernet cable or via WI FI.
    Voila!
