Magnetic case included w/ MuVo S

According to the manual the unit should not come in close contact with magnets, however the case contains 2 magnets....is this safe?

Ahagan,
Yes, they present no danger as they are too small.

  • Are magnetic cases safe to use with iPhone?

Are magnetic cases safe to use with the iPhone? I've seen a few 3G cases that have magnetic flaps that look awesome, but I've heard arguments both for and against using them.

I received my SENA magnet-flipper case (croc-black) on Friday, Aug 22 and have had absolutely no issues... also need to mention I was concerned with my 3G over heating keeping it in a case now and again, no issues there... in fact, after removing it from the SENA after two days of being on, my 3G was cool at touch.
I did experience a GPS search issue the day after putting it in the SENA, and three days after updating to r2.0.2 and originally thought the "magnets" interfered with my signal reception as some reported.. but when I took my 3G out of the case and experienced the same search and location issues (not to mention APPLE validating GPS map issues on 2.0.2 today), I am convinced the "magnet's" on the SENA case do not create problems. The magnets on the SENA case are quite small; powerful, as in you can't shake the case and the flap fall's away... and they are inconspicuous to the eye.

  • Another Magnetic Case Thread

So, I see that several people have asked about the cases with magnets causing problems. The resounding answer seems to be no, so I'm looking for some theories on what might be going on with my touch. I got a leather case that has two magnets on the side to keep it closed, instead of the bottom (as most of the threads seem to deal with). I put my touch in there and a few hours later, it wouldn't come on. I had to reset or whatever they call it when you hold down both the power and home buttons. This happened several times. I charged it, did all the "r"s except a complete restore and it seemed to be ok. That was late at night, so I only tested it for a few minutes, then went to bed. The next morning (this past Tuesday), I was trying to use it and kept having similar problems, only now I would sometimes just get a white screen. I took the case off and left it off. It is now late Wednesday night. I have had my touch out of the case with the magnet for about a day and a half and I haven't had one problem. I didn't do anymore resetting, restoring, etc. It just started functioning normally again. I plan to test the case again tomorrow, but wonder if there are any thoughts on what might have happened. I wondered if maybe the magnet near the WiFi was causing problems in it which was affecting my touch. So, thanks for the input and I'll make a note when I finally get it back in the magnetic case!

AAPL, I saw your response in another thread speaking of how you showed people at college things that magnets did not mess up, but supposedly were supposed to, such as floppy disks, etc. Based on that, I was hoping that you would catch this thread and offer some insight. I'm afraid that I still believe that the magnets are the trouble makers. I know that on the DLO case, the magnets are at the bottom. My case is not the same. The magnets are on the left side at the top and bottom. In addition to my husband putting the case and having the exact same problem, I tried it again. After seeing your response, I put the case back on. FIVE minutes later, I had the exact same problems. iPod wouldn't come on. When it did, I had a flickering screen, then the Apple. I haven't had any trouble with my touch since I took it out of the case Tuesday morning. Now, on Thursday morning, I tried the case again, and voila! Problems. And as soon as I took it out of the case and restarted it, it began functioning as normal. How do you explain that? (That isn't supposed to sound smart alec, but truly curious!) The rest of the case is just leather. I know that isn't causing problems. To me, it is obviously something about the case, so I think that it must be the magnets. Thanks!

  • Protective cover/case for the MuVo TX

Does Creative make like a hard cover/case for the MuVo TX FM? Not the little plastic sleeve that come with it either. Like a complete covering case.

Check the shop on this website, they should have a protecti've case for the MuVo TX FM although i'm not sure if they make hard cover cases, they should.

  • I have a iPhone 4S, is any data magnetically stored on it? The reason I'm asking is i would like to purchase a magnetic case to hold my phone on the tank of my motorcycle. The case says do not use if information is magnetically stored.

I have an iPone4S 64GB and a 2 yr. old iPod Touch 32 GB and wish to use a case with magnets in it to hold them to the tank of my motorcycle.
The cases' data sheet says do not use if the device stores information magnetically.
Not being tech savey I don't know if either or both the iphone and ipod store data magnetically? Does anyone else?

The data is not stored magnetically.

  • I need a new magnetic case for my iPhone 4.

I'm currently using a BlackBerry case.  I love the magnetic closure and the fact that the entire case swivels.  I have a sleeve on my iPhone now and it doesn't quite fit anymore.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    Post a picture of it?
The worst you're going to have is glass shards in your fingers.
The best case is that the phone will work like normal (assuming screen protector is applied)

  • I'm totally confused now. I've got a magnetic case for my iPhone. Some people say it'll definitely damage the phone and some say it definitely won't! Do I chance keeping it?

I need people's take on iPhone cases with magnetic clasps. I want a case that covers my screen but I don't want to wreck my beautiful new iPhone!

It will do no harm. There are no magnetic media in an iPhone. Apple makes iPad cases containing magnets, which would seem to indicate it's OK.

  • Any problem with magnetic case?

Hi, my iPad leather case has magnet on the side, is there any possibility of damage to the screen or flash memory when it is exposed to the magnetic field? I use inky the wifi version which doesn't have compass.

There are many ipad, iphone, and itouch cases that use magnets. The only issue I've ever heard of is with the magnet possibly causing interference with the iphone (see link below).
I assume you are talking about the marware case. This is a popular case, and I strongly suspect that we would know by now if there was an issue. I have one on order.

  • Magnetic cases...any problems with iPhone 3GS

It seems that most horizontal cases that are any decent have magnetic closures. Does this damage the iPhone or weaken the signal while in the case?
I am looking at the Nite Ize Executive case and it states it uses a "High performance neodynium magnet closure."

    Any help would be great.

There have been several threads discussing cases with magnets causing problems. Additionally, neodymium is the strongest known magnet material. With those two in mind, it's possible that you'll have problems with this case.

  • Lumia 720 magnetic case

I have lumia 720 mobile phone.currently I'm using a cover that including a magnetic part.Is there any bad reactions because of magnetic part??plzz help me.

    lankakia,
While such weak magnets does not pose a threat of causing a heavy damage to your phone, it might cause a bit of interference with either the signal receiver or compass in a negligible sense. But as inconclusive as it is, I would say, I'd rather play it safe and stay away from it. Maybe that's just me.

  • Does the PlayBook have a magnetic case activated "holster" mode like the smartphones?

Title pretty much says it all.  While I'm waiting for my PlayBook, I'm wondering about accessories.  In particular the slip case from RIM.
    Under features are listed:
    •    Precision-fit protection
    •    Rigid panels and flexible sides with easy access to charging or media ports
However, notably absent from that feature list is:
    •    RIM patented technology to sleep device while in case (from a Torch 9800 case feature description)
So does the PlayBook have a "holster-mode" at all?  If so, which cases support/activate it?  It's a very cool feature of the smartphones and would be conspicuous by it's absence.
    Solved!

A few users in the IRC said that they could find no magnets in the device, and a teardown by iFixit revealed the same thing

  • Magnetic Cases

    Hi,
I own and love a Piel Frama Black Magnetic Leather Case for my generation 1 iPad. It is my intention to preorder the Piel Frama Black Magnetic Leather Case for my new iPad 2. My questions is does anyone think the magnets will cause issues with the iPad 2???? I ask this because the new iPad can be turned on and off by magnets in the Apple cover.
I would have tried testing it with my original case but I already shipped the iPad to my Mom.
    Thanks,
    Joe

Piel Frama looks like they have great looking cases, but My God the conversion price to US is unreal!
I think the prices here are more reasonable:

That is much more reasonable! Thanks!

  • Magnetic case for iPad 2

Any known issues with using a case with a magnetic closure for an iPad 2?

there is a small magnet on the right side of the iPad near the edge of the screen, this is used with another magnet in the iPad 2 cover to lock the ipad.
I sometimes have problem with the magnet in the case hitting the back of the ipad under were the magnet is on the right, this too can also lock it
    If this helps?

  • Case included with Ipod 5th Gen video 60gig?

I'm wondering what is that greyish case that came with my ipod video for? It doesn't perfectly fit my ipod, nor can i think exactly what it is for unless it's for the headset or the data cable or something?
    Any1 know?

I honestly think Apple is better off shipping no case at all than to ship that piece of cloth they try to pass off as a case. Maybe it would look better if you painted it or something.
If it doesn't fit your iPod, you should consider yourself lucky, because you're not missing much, except maybe being made fun of by your friends for having an iPod case that looks like a summer camp project.
You could put baseball cards in it, I guess... :/
It would be kind of nice if all iPods shipped with a coupon code for an eXo iSkin of your choice (or any other iPod case company, eXo's just the first that came to mind). Because I've got the irking suspicion that when Apple's design team had to design this case, they were anxious to go to lunch or something...
But don't fret. The iPod itself was much more carefully designed!

  • IPhone case with a Magnetic Closure... Good or bad?

I am planning to buy a folding type case for my iPhone 4s that has a Magnetic closure...Is it safe to use it???will it harm my phone in any way??Please help..

You never stated anything earlier about Compass so I was talking about the magnetic case not having an effect on the iPhone itself. If you are attempting to use Compass of course that will have an effect since there is no way for the weak magnetic field of the earth to override the magnetic field of the case. So if you want to use Compass then don't use the magnetic case. If you want to use the magnetic case then don't use Compass. Simple.
You can't have it both ways.
I still stand by my original position the magnetic case will not effect the iPhone.
