Magnetic charging port not working

The magnetic charging port in my phone came out with the charger, I sent it back to Sony for repair, and it arrived back today - it looks like a new case has been put on the phone rather than just the port being stuck back, but it now no longer charges using the Sony magnetic charger - is there a setting somewhere to enable it? I checked the USB cable (which is plugged into the mains) and it charges the phone fine via the usb port, but plug the same cable into the official Sony magnetic charger/phone holder and nothing - this is the same charger and cable that has been charging the phone since last September, I also checked with a third party charger on the same USB cable and that didn't work either. I prefer using the magentic charging as the usb cover is so flimsy I'm afraid of it breaking off. The phone is running Android 5.0.2 and update says it is up-to-date.

Hi guys and g*rls I have bought a 3rd party battery case which covers the rear of the phone and has a built in battery for emergency charge if I (god forbid) run out of juice when im out and about.The only problem is, is it does not charge the phone, i have contacted the seller regarding this issue and they have sent me a second case to try but this is exactly the same.Is there an option somewhere in the phone where you have to enable magnetic charging? I am starting to think that it is my phone that is at fault as i had to send it off for repair due to the phone turning itsaelf off. perhaps when sony dismantled it a connection could of broken to the magnetic strip? clutchin at straws maybe? New charging port not working

I recently have been having problems with my iPhone 5 charging port. I bought a replacement off amazon ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Generic-Headphone-Charging-Connector-Replacement/dp/B00E Y9RMTU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407765309&sr=8-1&keywords=iphone+5+charging+port ) and followed a video guide to replace it. Now that it is in, the speaker, home button, charging port and microphone aren't working. Could this be a problem with the replacement part or a problem with how i have installed it?

Probably a problem with the install, Iphones are not meant to be user serviceable, and it voids all future support from Apple.

Z30 charge port not working?

I just got my z30 two or so weeks ago and for some reason it wont charge anymore. Slowly throughout the week the charge cord kept getting more stubborn in keeping it in charge mode. No other usb charge cord would work for this phone only the one given and now the phone doesnt even register the original charge cord when inserted at all. I'm guessing I have a faultly charge port and I need to exchange it but i'm just curious if anyone else has had this issue?

Same problem. Only registers charge of 5%. The USP port connection seems sloppy. Not happy.

Iphone6 not charging ... Charging port not working

I Bought iPhone 6 recently and it started acted funny with charging. It would charge only if I pally pressure on the cable at certain angle. Then I tried changing cables to even new ones and the pproblem did not go away. Then I visited the Apple strore, who tried cleaning it but no difference. I have been using iPhone products for over 6 years and never had this problem. The Apple Store then offered to replace the phone for $299 +taxes. Very disappointed that I am asked to pay such hefty amount for none of my fault. I am not sure if apple has cut corners and made cheaper quality product as I have seen several in the forum facing similar issues with charging . If anyone have suggestions on how to avoid such hefty price for replacement, you are welcome. I bought the phone on Jan 15,2015 and sad to know that it stopped working in three months. I am an average user and I handle the phone very gently. If no suggestions then probably it time for me to switch to non apple smart phones.

This is a user-to-user tech support forum. If you have a broken Lighning port, there's nothing anyone here can do about it. There are no user serviceable parts in iPhones, and any attempt to do so, even opening the iPhone case will revoke any further service from Apple and availablity of an out of warrant replacement. (You would have to buy a new phone at full price.)
The iPhone warranty doesn't cover physical damage.

How could damage possibly be your fault? I've never heard of owners damaging their phones.
You can try an independent iPhone repair center at your own risk - the same conditions apply as fixing it yourself.

Charger Port not working.

i've had my macbook roughly three years? about i think and just last week my my charger cord decided to short out, unplugged it from my mac before it went up in spasrks. so i went out and bought a new cord, plugged it in no green/orange light. cleaned my port out, plugged it in, bam it works. i pretty much keep my mac plugged in at all times so then i unplugged and went to work yesterday and tried to plug it back in and once again it wouldn't charge. tired cleaning it out, worked last time why not this time. still nothing. pretty positive its the port.
was just wondering how much its going to cost me to get it fixed? please say under a hundred dollars!

Were those chargers all the old T-style ones? The firmware update ensures compatibility with the new L-style chargers. Many people have found it solves their problems. Even if it doesn't fix yours, it won't hurt.

Magnetic charging port and loss of mobile data

I finally decided to switch to Android once I felt the iPhone update was not worth the high price tag. I decided on an Xperia Z3, and so far I have had to replace 2 devices and I am considering returning this one also. The first phone had a dead pixel so this was a quick return and replacement. The second developed problems with the magnetic charging port about 2 months after I received it - for instance in the magnetic charging dock I bought I suddenly had to start propping the phone forwards for it to connect and another magnetic attachment that clips on to the end of the microUSB cable kept connecting and disconnecting. Added to this, it demonstrated the problem I have seen mentioned here and elsewhere with the Z range of phones, in that it will often fail to regain its 3g signal after having lost it however restarting the phone will allow it to reconnect (until it does it again).
I hoped that replacing this phone would finally allow me to enjoy my phone, however right from the beginning it has demonstrated the same signal problem and while the magnetic port is slightly better with the magnetic clip it still wont connect to the charging dock and needs tilting forward slightly for my in-car charger.
I know the chargers are not the problem as my fiancee has the same phone which works perfectly. I don't know whether this is something to do with her buying hers straight from Sony while I got mine from Amazon (directly, not a seller) but I have no idea why that should make a difference to the quality of the handset. Are Sony known for build quality issues with their phones?
I can put up with the magnetic charging port if there is a reliable way of fixing the 3g issue, if anyone can suggest anything I will give it a try. If there isn't anything then I will have to send this phone back and in all likelihood will probably go back to apple

Try a reset:
- Hold the home button and sleep/wake button down at the same time. When the Apple logo appears release both buttons then try and charge again.
If issue persists try:
- Another known working cable
- Check the charging port for any damage or debris
- You could also use a dry soft bristle toothbrush and gently brush it on the port to clean it of any debris that could be in there

Magnetic Charger Port in Z2 came out along with the Charger

Hi Sony Users, I never ever expected such kind of quality problem from Sony. Today, I kept my phone for charging using magnetic charger. When I removed the charger once battery was fully charged, the magnetic charging port in phone itself came out along with the charger. I am really disappointed with what happened and I really dont know what to do now. If parts are getting easily removed from phone like this, then how does "water-proof" feature in phone is supposed to work? I am really really disappointed. I am actually thinking to switch to some other brand like Apple.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.

Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. WHen you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot then try again.
Try unplugging/replugging the cable. I can't tell if you have a lightning or older 30 pin cable, but if you have the 30 pin one it can look like it's in but not be making a total connection.
Look in the port, do you see any dust or lint? THat can mess with the connection.
Are you trying to charge via USB or plugged into the wall? It's best charged plugged into the wall with its supplied power block.

Most likely yes. There's a manufacturers warranty against defects for a year. I'd contact your place of purchase and talk to them about it.

Charger is not working properly

Hi, after 10.9.2 update my charger is not working properly. First I thought the problem was the charger itself had died, but then I saw a pale light. I searched here and found that resetting SMC could be a solution. It worked for a while, but now the problem is back and resetting again doesn't work. I also resetted PRAM and nothing happens. The light is now green, but battery status says it isn't charging.
What else can I do? Mavericks updates are a headache that has already made me format my laptop – because of another problem– and I'd love to avoid it. Thanks in advance.

If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them. Let them deal w/it.
