Magnifier Keeps coming on at Start with Surface Pro 3

Hello.
I have a problem with my surface pro 3 that the magnifier always comes on after turning the computer on (after sleep).
Even if I close the magnifier via the X button or "Win + ESC Key", and then suspend the Surface by power button, then turn it back on, the magnifier is now showing.
I have even tried turning manifier off in the control panel but it is the same situation whether it is on or off, the magnifer will always start up when I quick-start my Surface Pro 3.
What should I do?
Thanks.

Hi,
Firstly, please check Startup folder if Magnifier was there, if that it is, delete it for test.
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Secondly, this problem can also be caused by Task Scheduler, please check
Task Scheduler if Magnifier was scheduled to start every time login system.
Open Run, Type Taskschd.msc, Press Enter.
If there is any progress, please feel free let me know.

Are we supposed to guess what the error message is?

  • Having issues with Surface Pro 3 downloading boot image over PXE

    Hi,
We've recently started to buy the new Surface Pro 3 with the new USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapter and we have some issues deploying them through SCCM. Basically, with the Pro 2 and Fast Ethernet adapter we have no issue at all, of course the deployment is
a bit longer than on any other computer, but it is still quite faster than the latest Surface.
We have the new 8.13.414.2014 driver injected in the Win 8.1 boot image for the USB 3.0 Gigabit adapter and all the drivers assigned to the new Surface in SCCM.
The problem occurs when we try to load the boot image after choosing PXE, it takes more than an hour to load it when it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.
I tried rolling back to the old driver (8.6.128.2013) and use the Fast Ethernet adapter, use the Fast Ethernet adapter with the new driver and use the new adapter with the old driver, but it's still slow in any case, so
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the new Surface and not the Ethernet adapter.
Anyone have an idea what could be the problem here? Anyone having issues with Surface Pro 3 and SCCM 2012?

I would imagine you have upgraded to R2, have you also applied KB2905002.
This hasn't got anything to do with the TFTP loading phase of the boot image.

I already asked in that thread the same question, but how about normal PCs that are connected to the same network segment as the Surface devices, do they boot slow also?

    Try here:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
    Also try:
    - Resetting the iPod. nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod from backup
    - Restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Video Issues with Surface Pro 3 9926 .4079 Driver

I am thinking that most of us are aware, but I wanted to bring some visability to the graphics issues for the Surface Pro 3 and the 9926 update. If you are doing an upgrade then you will eventually end up with version x.4079 of the Intel Graphics driver.
If you are performing a clean install, be ready as the screen will flicker and boot loop every few minutes, but if you can get to Windows update and get the 1/22/2015 firmware update this is the x.4079 driver.
    Issue are:
    1.  Internet Explorer is not able to play most embedded videos such as YouTube etc.  The Bing homepage today keeps crashing for me.
    2.  .MP4 video will not play in the Video app or Windows Media Player.  Work around - use the Chrome Browser and play the videos right in the window or convert to .avi or .mkv
I have seen lots of people posting that they uninstalled and deleted the drivers and then the standard video card driver would install.  This is true but if you use the docking station or an external adapter then the external screen will not work AND
your machine will keep on trying to update the driver to the broken Intel one.
At this point we will have to wait for Microsoft to issue an updated Intel driver as I cannot seem to get the most current x.4080 to install (even when installing manually by having disk).

    Hi,
According to statistics recently, this seems like a commen issue as other people also encounter display problem after install Windows 10 preview 9926.
Please make sure Windows update work properly ane install all accessable updates.

  • External Hard Drive Compatibility with Surface Pro 3

what external hard drive will work with the surface pro 3

as per suggestion from this site, I suggest you thinking about another option like OneDrive (cloud storage), USB drives (pen drive), and microSD cards
    https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/storage-files-and-folders/surface-storage-options
this is the tips to free up your disk space
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/free-up-disk-space
I suggest use external HDD which using less power (external HDD mobile) or powered external HDD, since Surface only have 900ma (4.5v)

  • Is anyone else having trouble with surface pro 3 + kinect v2?

I'm running a cpu intensive Kinect v2 program on a surface pro 3 (all updates installed). It typically consumes about 50% of the processing when the cpu frequency is 100% (all CPU and networking, no graphics)
The problem is that sometimes when  I run the program the cpu frequency (as reported by the resource monitor) does not move from it's idle state of 33% so my program chokes. If I remove the power cable, the cpu frequency immediately jumps to 100%. If
I then replace the power cable the cpu frequency will stay at 100%. My program will keep on running fine for a while and then the frequency will drop low again - I can then repair it by removing or replacing the power cable.
Obviously this program is intensive and the fans turn on to cool things down, so I originally thought it was a overheating problem, but the problem can occur immediately on running the program when the surface has just been booted and is completely
cold, or not occur when it's hot. I've tried the power options (not many on the surface) and they have no noticeable effect.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get the max performance from the cpu and keep it there? Why should the power cable have such an effect?
    thanks

Are you running a WPF application or a c++ application? Try running any of the D2D samples at the same time, to see if that changes the behavior. When you boot the machine was power connected at the time? There are different hardware states
a system can be in based on running on battery vs plugged in. Is the system charging the battery at the time it is plugged in?
If on battery the assumption is you need to conserve which the operating system/hardware will operating in an energy efficient state until which time it is forces to run 100%(games or other graphic intensive work). CPU bound operations only may not trigger
the step up to full speed depending on how the operating system is handling the specific processes. The nature of WPF it was designed to update less often since line of business applications typically don't change the screen that often, so it was designed
to be more efficient that way. Where D2D/D3D applications run at full speed no matter what.

  • Reader 9.1 issues with Surface Pro 3 (Windows 8)

The same multi document pdf opens with Windows 7 and Reader 9.1 DC.  On the Surface Pro it appears to load correctly, but cannot get the images of the documents to expand to normal size, all I can see are the miniature images of the documents and the title.   I can use touch to move between different document images,, but cannot get any of the documents to expand.   I have installed and reinstalled Reader.

Adobe Reader and Adobe Reader Touch (for Windows 8) are two different apps.  So I need to know if you use the standard Reader, or Reader Touch.
Reader Touch also looks a bit different from the standard Reader; see http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/app/adobe-reader-touch/162a2931-8ee6-4a56-9570-532 82525d7a3

  • Miracast not working on BDX5400KU with Surface Pro win 8.1

I have attempeted use the wireless display on the the surface with the toshiba BDX5400 but I cannot connect because the Surface indicates that I need to press a button on the Toshiba, which I believe is some sort of WPS requirement, but the Toshiba does not have a button to press. I have included the screenshot for your reference. Please update the FW on the Toshiba so that this button pressing requirement can be bypassed. The netgear ptv is working without this requirement.

I have exactly the same problem as above. Same Surface 2 device too. Have latest firmware available in EU (v26) installed on my BDX5400. Have called Toshiba customer support and although they are looking into it it was not a problem they knew they had identified and are working on as far as he support person himself knew (No record in their database). The Miracast device doesn't appear to be certified with 8.1 either so I'm just wondering if there will be another hurdle to climb over once we've got past this one!
Come on Toshiba get this fixed soon before a wave of other users start flooding this forum with the same problem.

  • I'm unable to sync my iPod with my Surface Pro 3. Does anybody know how to fix this? Please share

I've been able to download iTunes Version 12.1.1. I'm just wondering if i should get a new mp3 player since I've read that it's difficult to sync iPods with Surface Pros.

Since the Surface Pro 3 is effectively a standard Windows 8.1 system with a "tablet" form factor it should be fine (I don't have one - yet - but I know people who are using the Pro 3 with iTunes/iPods without problems).
You may be encountering an issue that occurs with the last two releases of iTunes - 12.1.0.71 and 12.1.1.4 are (unlike previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes) full 64-bit applications - prior to 12.1 most "64-bit" versions were actually 32-bit applications with a 64-bit installer.  Many users have encountered issues with the 64-bit version of 12.1 - less so with 12.1.1.4, but it appears that there are some remaining incompatibilities/inconsistencies with some 64-bit Windows systems.  Even though I've not seen this reported specifically for the Surface Pro 3, it may be worth trying this alternative installer: iTunes 12.1.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards).  The "for older video cards" label is a little misleading, since although this does resolve a video compatibility issue that iTunes detects when first run it is actually the same architecture as pre-12.1 releases (32-bit applications with a 64-bit installer).
You don't say that you've actually had sync problems or are just concerned that you might ... if the former, posting back more details of symptoms may be useful.  For example, if you connect your iPod does it show up in iTunes?  If not, there may be specific resolutions that could work rather than using the "for older video cards" version - see iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

  • Surface Pro 3 - Battery not detected

    1) After booting the system with the power adapter connected, Hold Down the power button until the unit powers itself off.   (Do not swipe down.)
    2) Disconnect the power adapter from the unit.
    3) Press and hold the Power Button (wait for a depleted system battery icon full screen)
    4) Re-connect the power adapter to the unit.
    5) Press and hold the volume up and Power button for 15 seconds.   (the unit keyboard will light up then power down if you hold it the full 15 seconds.)
    6) Press and hold the volume up and power button until the keyboard lights up (about 5 seconds)
    7) If the system/bios menu appears, select exit and restart
    8) Battery (should be) present and charging.

My company is starting to adopt the Surface Pro 3 and 2 of them have begun to show "No Battery Detected". I've tried the Microsoft Troubleshooting and no luck there.
