MagSafe light sometimes turns off

Sometimes the light on the connector end of my MagSafe powercord goes out (ie: no green, no orange). However, there doesn't seem to be any lose of power from the cord when this happens: my MBP still says it's charging/is charged while the cord is in. I've been able to fix the problem by simply unplugging and replugging in the power cable. There doesn't appear to be an fraying or defects with the cords appearance. The light seems to go out sometimes when I move my laptop around while still plugged in to the power cord (eg: from my lap to a table)
Is this cause for concern?

It sounds like a bad connection. You might check the port for any foreign matter that might be preventing the mag safe from fully engaging. Also check for any pins that might be stuck. Here's a link that might be helpful:

The cord itself is more fragile than people sometimes realize, and there could possibly be some internal damage with a conductor sometimes making contact and sometimes not. Any excessive heat anywhere?
Good luck!

  • Lumia 1020 focus assist light wont turn off

lumia 1020 focus assist light wont turn off. i've done a hard reset and a soft reset. ive also drained the battery but the little round light continues to be turned on .
i checked and it looks like ive still got warranty from nokia. will they still honour the warranty if ive updates the software?

I have the same problem, I tested everything, hard reset, soft reset, using recovery tool to back to Cyan version, still the light is ON..  what is tyhe problem, it is ridicolous that Microsoft/ Nokia do not give an answer to this problem as many users have the same problem........

Hi, alekswithkz. Just to verify, when you say hard reset, do you mean: Settings>About>Reset? If yes, you can try to download and use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool before considering sending the phone for repair.

Note: The link is from Nokia US. If you are in another country, feel free to download the app from your local Nokia website.
If the issue remains, it's best to have it examined by an authorized Nokia technician. This will also determine if the repair will be covered under warranty. Warranty period starts on the date of purchase. Please bring your receipt for warranty verification.

Hold the sleep/wake button and the home button until the phone shuts down and let it restart.

  • Macbook not charging, Magsafe green, immediate turn off if charger removed

    Hello all
I have had a search for similar issues but found nothing quite the same.
I have a 2009 17" MBP with a 2 month old new battery in it. (not by Apple)
My current battery percentage is at 14% but my Magsafe is showing green to indicate 95% or above. When I remove the Magsafe my MBP automatically turns off like I've forced shut down.
I've looked in 'About my Mac' system report and it shows Battery not charging.
I have contacted the company who supplied the battery as it is under warranty, however, how do I know it is the battery?
I've tried resetting the SMC by using shift-ctl-option-power but it has not solved my problem.
    Any help appreciated!

There are many tales of woe on these forums about installing non Apple batteries.
My current battery percentage is at 14% but my Magsafe is showing green to indicate 95% or above. When I remove the Magsafe my MBP automatically turns off like I've forced shut down.
The green light indicates that it is providing power to the MBP.  It does not mean that the battery is charged 95% or higher.  Disconnect or take out the battery and the charger light will green.
If your charger was connected when you made the image of the battery data, it indicates that the battery is simply not being charged.  The battery may in effect be dead or there is a problem in the charging circuitry.  It would be best to have the MBP evaluated by an Apple store genius bar for a definitive analysis.  The evaluation will be FREE.
My money says that the battery is the problem.
    Ciao.

  • Can't get camera green light to turn off !

    Hello,
I hope this is the right forum to post this question, if not sorry and please direct me if you can to the correct area.
I have an 08 Macbook. Never had a problem with it since it's barely a year old. One thing I have noticed is that my camera's green light is ALWAYS on. I never run any apps that would use the camera, I have gone back made sure they were all closed, made sure that nothing was to open automatically in startup that would cause it to turn on as well. Yet it continues to persist. The strange thing is that when I open Photobooth the screen is black! I have no idea why this is happening.
I did some quick googling and the only way I can get it to turn off is to start my computer by doing command option p r.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can make it stop once and for all? I don't want my camera being on all the time and it freaks me out that there are no apps using it!
    Thanks

    Hi EZ Jim,
    I would consider iGlasses first.
Back ground app launched at Start Up but not listed in System Preferences > Accounts > Login items and available to all apps that can access the camera including a Web Browser.
Have not tried it Safari 4 and that Favourite pages bit that might hold Mebeam of Googlemail Chat page in the History.
The Screen Saver might be a bit of a stretch.
I am presuming that 1) he might have one and 2) it is not releasing the camera when not doing Screen Saving.
I am also presuming it might have a faulty idle time that makes the OS think the Screen Saver should be in view or possibly the time is set so short regular input is the only thing stopping the screen Saver from showing.
I am not sure many people would regard it as "an App" as such either, hence my phrasing.
The Nanny Cam stuff may be an app.
I have Evocam of the two we regularly mention and it can be hidden (Or set to Hide on using red Button).
That might need me to presume the computer is not shut down that often as it does not have an Option to add it to Login items on my Leopard Computer.
Whilst Hidden though, it can continue to stream.
This one was the furthest stretch.
So I thinks some are possibles.
Nanny cam is the most unlikely but depends on the app involved settings.
As part of the specs do suggest security then we have to consider some with access to the computer might look in the most obvious places first to see what was running, DOCK Login Items (I am not sure the Screen Saver I tried could push/stream/record or alert by email if movement was seen) but seeing Screen Saver set in System Preferences may not (should not) tell you that info.
(Says he dragging nanny cam stuff back into the picture )
Off to bed for me with so much Think Different stuff going on.
    Catch you soon.

  • Why must I sometimes turn off WiFi to download or send email?

I have a Droid Razr Maxx, though I don't think it's an Android or even Verizon issue. The problem, which is intermittent, and happens for my friend also on an iPhone, is that sometimes I'm not able to download or send email when connected to a Wifi hot spot. If I turn off WiFi on the phone, it then works fine using the carrier's data plan. Has anyone else experienced this problem and/or know a solution for it?
    Thanks in advance!

Out of Office responses are best set up in the webmail account which you access using a browser.
    So check there first.
If you set it up in Thunderbird, then you would have had to leave Computer on and Thunderbird running connected to internet all the time.
You would have created a template email to use. This would be in the 'Templates' folder.
You would also have set up a Message Filter to respond to emails in address book using the Template email.
So check in Message filters for a filter that does this.
    Tools > Message filters
    or
Menu icon > Message filters > Message filters

  • Light wont turn off

Hi - my Iphone torch has been on for hours I have reset the phone, turned it off, completely wiped all info on it and its still on? Any suggestions?

Hi I tried that but eventually contacted customer support who went through many resets and eventually restoring factory settings - light still wouldn't turn off so I have been to the Apple store who replaced the handset!  Although, they did go through the whole procedure again even though I had a case number saying the phne was to be replaced.  Thanks for the reply.

  • Focus assist light wont turn off

This is the second time this has happene d and I am really frustrated.  I placed my new Nokia 1020 in an arm carrier while at the gym and at the end of the workout, the focus assist light was on and I could not turn it off. The pressure of the spandex sleeve must have cuased some buttons to be pressed in some odd series or something.
To solve the problem I performed a soft reset, a hard reset, let the battery completely run out, and the light was still on.  I finally gave up and returned it to the store for a replacement.  I got a new phone and had the same problem occur today.  So it is my fault for making the same mistake twice, but I had a Nokia 920 for two years and placed in the same carrier hundreds of times with no problem.
Does anyone know how i can resolve this?  I really love my Nokia phone, but am going to abandon the platform if this does not get resolved easily.  My wireless carrier is a nightmare to deal with on issues like this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Same happened to my sons Lumia. The light was on for 6 months until he finally smashed it up at a party (accidentally). And the problem was due to moisture. Happened when he was camping.
