Mail 1.3.11 will not recognize gmail password

hi,
i've been trying to set up email using my mac to access my gmail account. i've followed all the set up instructions provided by gmail.
when i press the "get mail" button in apple mail it askes for my password to gmail. it then askes me to re-enter my password. when i do, i get the window saying "the pop server pop.gmail.com rejected the password for my email.
i have gone in and re-entered all of my info, double checking my password and account spelling. everything is correct. ...so i thought.
is there anything i can do?

I was using the FB app that came with the iPad. What I eventually did was.
1. Held down both home key and on-off button until iPad shut down, then rebooted.
2. Uninstalled FB app.
3. Went to App Store and re-installed FB app.
The iPad had numerous problems. My son saw my plea on FB as I was accessing it through my HP computer, and he walked me through it. While he was at it, he taught me how to disconnect auto-correct. I am not certain that I want to keep that off, but everything is working the way it is supposed to the way it was in the beginning.
I am curious, though, as to what ears to the problem in the first place. After checking various sites, it seems that a code 190 has to do with windows not Apple.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

My phone will not recognize my password.

I'm not sure if it will not recognize it, or if I somehow changed my password in my sleep, but I woke up this morning and my phone keeps locking me out. I've been locked out for an hour now, and the time is just about up, but I'm reluctant to try it again in case I'm locked out for several more hours. Suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple community.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

You should still be able to log into an old email account, even if you haven't used it for some time, very few providers delete email accounts.

Windows software will not recognize my password

WIndows application does not recognize my password when trying to set up the software. I have gone as far as resetting it 3 times and when I get the the spot to put my username and PW in the sign in...it keeps saying my UN or PW is wrong and suggests I re-set. I just added me.com email to my windows live mail. Windows live needs to download the folders before I can read the messages in this account. It goes looking looking for the folders but gets and error message, server has rejected your login for the me account. It will not take my login but I can login through apple. I hope someone can help me get this fixed.
