Mail 10.8.3 not sending mail from intended account

Since upgrading from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3, my wife is having a new problem where Mail is not sending mail from the intended account.
She has 2 mail acocunts, and normally sends most e-mail from one of them.  That mail account is set as the default to send messages from.
Now when she composes messages, it sends them from the other account, even if she has made certain that the pull-down choice of "send message as..." is set to the correct/desired mail account.
The only way she was able to stop this was to deactivate the other e-mail account in Mail's preferences.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi.
Please click on the Mail > Prefrence > Account.
then click on the first account on the left side & Uncheck the option 'Use onlythis server'
repeat the step for the second account aswell.
this should fix your issue.
Kind regards,
Ayaz

  • Can not send email from corporate account when out of office

I have a 3G+wifi ipad, my sending via corp email works when I'm in the office (connected via wifi) but doesn't send when I'm on 3G and other wifi network (my home wifi). When I send from the other locations I can send from yahoo account only. I have tried to change the server port a couple of times but still no luck. Anyone has any idea how solve this problem?

I am still having some of the problems the guy who can't get corporate emails has.
You have already read my thread. Yesterday was a good day, I got every single email I received on my iPhone and main Mac computer on my iPad.
I powered the Pad down last night, turned it on this morning and only got 2 of the 4 I was sent during the night, 2 of them being from my US HO but yesterday I got emails from my US HO on my iPad early in the evening.
I have learnt that ntl world emails cannot be received with 'Push' so that cancels out that being anything to do with it.
There is only one difference in my settings so don't know if this is making any difference:-
On my iPad the smtp authentication is MD5 Challenge-Response.
On my iPhone the authentication is Password, I have tried changing it but it won't let me. Can't think that this is the problem as this is on the Outgoing Server of which I have no problems.
Another odd thing is that when I got my iPhone last year I synched the account settings through iTunes. I did this 3 weeks ago when I got my iPad. I then unselected synching the accounts in iTunes when the Pad was connected as I wanted to set them up manually. Now I cannot access this part of iTunes for the phone or pad, it's ticked but greyed out and doesn't show any of my 4 accounts.
One of the main reasons I bought a Pad is to do emails on it as I find the iPhone a little small to use all day. I am gutted that the Pad is not getting all mails and can't trust it.
Could it be that when I power down it affects the settings as that's the only thing different I did yesterday. I will keep the pad on all day and night but this should not be the problem can it? Don;t want to waste power having it on all evening.

  • Can not send email from .mac account from the iPhone

I'm having problems sending email from my iPhone from my .Mac Account and says the outgoing server timed out. Any Suggestions?

This error message indicates you are not using the correct server port for .Mac's SMTP server.
Did you transfer the account settings from your Mac to the iPhone automatically via the iTunes sync process or did you manually create your .Mac account on the iPhone?
If the former, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP Server selection, select the Server Settings button below for .Mac's SMTP server.
If 25 is available in the Server Port field, enter 587 in place of 25 and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting and then re-sync your iPhone making sure your .Mac account is selected for account settings to be transferred to the iPhone.

  • I want to bcc myself when sending mail from one account but not another. When I check "automatically bcc myself", it bcc's me from both accounts.  Can I set this to work with only one account?

I have two mail accounts on my Mac.  I want one account to bcc me when I send emails from that account.  I checked "automatically bcc myself" under mail>preferences>composing, but both accounts bcc me when sending mail.  Can I set this to only bcc myself from one specific email account? Thanks.

It does not make sense that your ssh does not have a dash capital Y (-Y) option. It is in "man ssh", and my 10.6.6 has the -Y option, and I've had a -Y option since at least Tiger (10.4) days.
    My ssh is in /usr/bin/ssh
I'm not very good at X11 issues, so I'm just throwing ideas out there.
Does your broken account have a $HOME/.ssh/config file, and if so, what is in it?
Does the broken account have any $HOME/.x* or $HOME/.X* files that X11 might be reading to configure your X11 behavior differently from the new test account?
    $HOME/.Xauthority
    $HOME/.Xdefaults-<hostname>
    $HOME/.Xresources
    $HOME/.ICEauthority
    $HOME/.keymap.km
The above are a few names I found looking through "man X"
While I'm thinking about it, I assume that when going to the server, you are using the exact same user account on the server, so that you have a constant at least at that end.
    Have you tried trashing your
    $HOME/Library/Preferences/org.x.X11.plist
file, to see if that is affecting the broken account?
Again, I am just throwing out ideas to see if anything sticks.

  • How do I fix Mail in Snow Leopard where I cannot send emails from my account to another account I've set up in Mail, but the reverse works fine?

I have a problem with Mail in Snow Leopard in that I cannot set up two email accounts for myself and my wife with the same ISP and have them operate properly.  I've set up the accounts in strict accordance with my ISP's instructions for setting up email accounts on Mac Mail but I cannot send an email from my account to my wife's without a drop-down message appearing that Mail 'cannot send the email from this server.  Please edit the server list'.  No amount of tweaking appears to work.  Applecare consultants have so far been unable to get it to work and a recent visit to the local Genius Bar in the Apple Store was fruitless also.  My ISP's help line was unable to solve the problem even with a supervisor level consultant.  The ISP concluded it was some kind of 'bug' in Mail.
I could send emails from my wife's account to mine, but not vice versa; I could send emails to other addresees without any problem and I can send emails from my account to my wife's using the ISP's webmail.
Does anyone please have a solution to my problem?  At the moment we're operating one account (mine) on my Macbook and my wife's is set up on her iPad2.  As we prefer to use the Macbook for storage and (using Time Machine) for back-up of our data, the two accounts on separate machines is a nuisance.
Another factor is that I prefer to control when I download emails and set my preferences accordingly.  One of the so-called 'fixes' that were tried wound up downloading emails regardless of settings, even after removing my wife's account; the matter was remedied only after I had removed all accounts form Mail and started afresh from scratch.

You'll have to pardon my ignorance of some  computer terminology; I'm a retired manager and not a computer technician, hence my muddling up of client and server terminology.
Re your comment about Port 339: I did qualify this with (?).  As I wrote, it all happened at lightining speed and the guy at the Genius Bar didn't bother explaining what he was doing.  Port designation contained 3s and 9s to the best of my recollection.
That said, you seem to be spot on re setting up a 'dummy' client in Mail.  I set it up as you suggested and I can send to and receive from this client without a problem.  You appear to have identified the solution, notwithstanding the claims of the ISP's 'experts'.
The next problem I have now is sorting out my wife's mailbox that is so troublesome whenever I set it up on Mail.
All the other set-up advice to date yielded a similar result; inability to send from my account to her inbox.  Perhaps deleting her details from the account altogether and setting them up again from scratch may be the solution and I shall try that in due course.  The impediment that I have with this at the moment is that my ISP admits that it has 'a technical problem with its email servers' and some of its related web pages that prevent my doing this myself.  I will have to go through the telephone 'help' line and ask the technician to set it up at their end on my instructions.  This has some disadvantages in that I have to divulge the password to the account to the operator rather than keeping it anonymous by doing it on-line.   You may have solved the problem, but until I can successfully sort out a working mailbox for my wife i cannot definitively say so.
Many thanks for your perseverance.  You've made more sense than anyone else so far and that deserves some points, surely?

  • I can't SEND e-mail from an account on my iPad 4, that CAN receive -mail

    Hi Again,
I am hoping someone on this forum will possibly have an answer to a very confusing problem.
I can't seem to get one of my e-mail accounts to be set up 'properly' on my iPad 4. The account in question is an account from BT, which has @btinternet.com at the end of it. I have 'installed' and deleted this account more than ten times. When setting up this account (as with all other accounts that DO work properly), the only info I am 'asked' to input is my name, e-mail address and password, in the 'text entry spaces' that relate to the INCOMING mail server. When this is done I USUALLY see the word 'verifying........' Then the 'blue tick marks' confirming that the info I have entered is correct. The validity of this info is also confirmed by the fact that this account can RECEIVE the e-mails sent to it.
Each of the last four or five times I have deleted this e-mail account and re-installed it I have NOT seen the word 'verifying.....' And I have NOT seen the aforementioned blue ticks. Selecting 'done' after re-entering my info just makes this settings box disappear, rather than show the verifying and the blue ticks, which then allows me to see that the account is 'properly' set up - or should be anyway.
Even so I still get all the e-mails again, but still cannot SEND, OR REPLY
The error message I get every single time I try to SEND, OR REPLY using this same e-mail account is:
    'Cannot Send Mail'
'The username or password for SMTP: ***********@mail.btinternet.com is incorrect'
My username and password are NOT incorrect. The set up process does not even ask for a username or password for 'SMTP'!
Even if I go further into the settings for this account, I can find two spaces where I COULD put a username and password, for SMTP, but these spaces already have the words 'optional' in them so they are not supposed to be 'required'. Even if I DO put in these spaces my surname and password for this e-mail account it does not make any difference.
I have tried 'switching on' the 'other mail servers' which are shown below the 'Primary mail server' in another settings box, for the btinternet.com e-mail account settings, but this still does not stop the error message, AND the e-mail in question is then actually sent from one of the e-mail accounts connected with the 'other mail servers' - I know this because it appears in the 'sent' items folder of whichever account my iPad has decided to use at the time (not always the same one either). It also appears in the sent items folder of the account that I TRIED to use, despite the fact it was NOT sent from this account, and the error message said I cannot send mail (from this account).
I have contacted Apple Tech Support and they have told me that the problem is NOT with the iPad, it is with the 'account provider'. This is because they say that the info held and used by BT - the info that is used as the 'correct info', that is compared to what I have put in the set up boxes on my iPad - IS actually the info that is incorrect despite the fact that the info I use on my iPad and the info I use on the BT website (which was originally determined by ME when I first got my account) and is held by BT, is the info that is causing the problem of the error message. To put it another way, the info referred to in the error message is NOT incorrect, the error message is incorrectly generated.
Typically, BT have tried to deny the problem is caused by them because 'the info referred to' - which is my e-mail address and password - works correctly an ALL places that is supposed to work (on the BT website) AND works with the BT/iPad applications like BT Wi-Fi, BT Smart talk, etc. :( :( :(
Any help or advice that anyone could give will be very greatly appreciated
    Many thanks
    Bob

    Update to above question:
    Hello All,
To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
So this fix worked for me.
After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.

I have to agree with you , I too was disappointed to see that with IOS 4 on my iphone I still cant send from an alias. This is a feature thats available with the .me web access so why not the iphone mail app? If they can't do it, then at least let me be able to use .me via safari on the iphone and ipad.

lots of people seem to be havgin a problem sending email from iCloud webmail.
does your email address have uppercase characters in it?
if so, try creating an alias in lowercase (go to preferences in iCloud webmail and select 'accounts') and see if email sends okay from that

  • What's wrong with my Apple Mail?! It only retrieves e-mails once I send an e-mail from the account concerned!

Well, that's it really. I need to send an e-mail from an account for apple mail to retrive new incoming mail.
This has started happening since I upgraded to Mavericks. It's very temperamental. Some days it needs massaging to get my mail (as per above), other days it works like a well-oiled machine.
    Any thoughts anyone?

  • Mail is not downloading messages from two accounts but the messages are in the server.

Hello, I'm having this problem. Mail is not downloading messages from two accounts. I don't know why but there're two accounts working so bad. If I click with the right button on the account and click to see the account details, I can see the messages on the server but not in inbox. I made a sync with this account and my iphone and then the iphone downlad the messages with out problems. Not my imac at work or my imac at home... what can be wrong?
    Thanks.

For Gmail, this is normal, there is nothing you can do about it -- just type Mail AND Gmail in the search box to see threads discussing how Gmail works.
As for the other accounts, this shouldn't happen. I wonder if what you're seeing is just that Mail is ignoring this setting for mail that was already on the server when you started using it. I've seen something like this happen when playing with that setting, e.g. changing it from "After one day" to "After one week". Mail would just ignore messages that fell in the timeframe where the two settings could interfere and I didn't notice it until some time later, when Mail "forgot" those messages had already been downloaded and, being faced with them again, dutifully downloaded them as if they were all new.
I believe that, if you leave the setting however you wish and stop playing with it, then Mail shall correctly process any mail that arrives from now on. In order to manually delete old messages that Mail seems to be ignoring, you can invoke the Account Info window (this is probably what you meant when you said "I can delete messages individually"; if that's not the case and want more info on this, just ask).

  • Mail not receiving incoming mail from gmail account

I have an imac with 10.5 that has suddenly stopped accepting email in one of my gmail accounts, but still gets it from another. I synched my imac with my ibook earlier today. The ibook has the same problem accepts mail from the account that the imac doesn't etc.
Any help solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Did you select “Directory Management Service” option, if so, please make sure you configure the Central Administration application pool identity account to have the Create, delete, and manage user accounts right to the container that you specify in Active Directory.
Did you install Exchange server 2003 in your MOSS environment? If so, you should add an SMTP connector in Exchange Server, if you don’t know how to do that, you can post your issue into the following forum:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdeploy/threads
Also, please check whether your configuration meet the following requirements, If not, correct them and check the effect.
    ·         The application pool account for Central Administration, the logon account for the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service, and the application pool accounts for your Web applications should have the correct permissions to the e-mail drop folder.
    ·         The domain controller running Active Directory has a Mail Exchanger (MX) entry in DNS Manager for the mail server that you plan to use for incoming e-mail.
For more information about how to configure incoming e-mail settings, please refer to the following article:

  • Ipad 2 not auto receiving mail from IMAP account

    Hi, I have an iPad 1 & 2 and an iPhone 3Gs.
I have may email accounts with different servers, Apple, Yahoo, Google & 1&1.
All auto receive mail via push, except for the 1&1 acc on the iPad2.
Checked & double checked settings are same as on iPhone & iPad 1 which both receive mail from that account without issues.
The only way I can get to see new mail from the 1&1 acc on it is to open the mail app and sit back for it to come in!
What could I possibly be doing wrong? Is anyone else having the same issue?

I am. I have a G5 and an iPad. I can get my mail from the G5, or by logging onto the server via Internet, but my mail app tells me it can't connect to the server. I've tried all the fixes on the other, similar threads... Set both fetch to manual, hard restart, reconfigure, etc. I can get it to work once after hard reboot.

I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.
