Mail 2.1 / Entourage/ MS Exchange

I've searched all over the forums and Google but couldn't find the answer I needed.
My company uses Exchange and I successfully setup Entourage. Public folders work, email works, calendars works, etc. The only issue I have with it still is setting up the GAL/LDAP for the address book. I can't find that info in Outlook 2003 to copy to Entourage. If anyone know where I can find that I would greatly appreciate it.
My main question is regarding Mail 2.1 and Exchange. I have been unable to setup Mail with the Exchange server. Does Mail 2.1 use IMAP only or WebDav or MAPI? I'd love to just use Mail and get rid of Entourage. It never connects no matter what combination of settings from Entourage I copy into it.
Also, does anyone know what a GAL/LDAP server address would look like if I was trying to guess it to add into Address Book or Entourage? Is it typically something like "ldap.domain.com"?
Ideally, I'd love to use Address Book and Mail. Any ideas? Thanks!

I haven't used Exchange since v5.5, but at that time it offered standard ldap (port 389) services, as well as imap.
If your exchange server is running ldap you can connect to it via its normal dns name, the same name you entered to get your IMAP mail. So if your pop/imap server is mail.mymail.com, that is what you would enter into the ldap server field.
One thing you might need to get from your email admin is the "search base". If Address Book doesn't connect at first you could try entering cn=mymail.com where "mymail.com" is the right half of your email address.

  • Entourage for Exchange Web Services Beta

Anyone have any experience with this? And if you do, have you gotten it to work? Our email people have me testing it out and it connects but doesn't pull any mail or let me send anything.
Apple Mail works fine, but I have a lot of clients who like to use Entourage for all the scheduling capabilities.
    Thanks!

One has to wonder if that element is missing in your setup.

  • Mail.app supports accessing to Exchange Server through WebDAV OWA

I have been reading many threads from both here and Microsoft in order to get my mail.app work with my Exchange Server via WebDAV and/ or OWA.
My case is that I am fine with Entourage but not mail.app.
Something a few of us may miss is that Mail.app automatically amend the field "Outlook Web Access Server" to something like mail.myserver.com regardless of what you type, as in most cases the correct address is mail.myserver.com/exchange
So I am digging into my ~/Library/Application Support/Mail and try to find where exactly mail.app store the Account Information but I came out with no luck.
Can someone guide me through where is the setting stored because I think forcefully change that "auto change" Outlook Web Access Server address may well fix the problem many of us face.

With 10.5 and Mail 3.0, any luck for this topic?

  • Windows 8.1 Mail App doesn't sync Exchange account on desktop but does on laptop

I was referred to this forum by another Microsoft engineer, and while I do not believe this is where this problem can be resolved, I'm following his instructions.
I have Windows 8.1 on my desktop PC and an ASUS X205TA laptop. For several months, the three accounts I have under Mail (two Outlook.com accounts and one Microsoft Exchange work account) synced properly on my desktop.
In fact, the Mail app on my desktop worked fine with my Exchange account from the first time I used it under Windows 8 in 2012. The version didn’t seem to matter – whether it was Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1, the Mail app
connected to my Microsoft Exchange account simply by filling in my email address and password.
Sometime this past summer, however, in the July timeframe, the Mail app stopped synchronizing with my Exchange account. In an effort to repair it, I removed and attempted to reinstall the account. This time, it would not let me load the Exchange account, even
when including additional information (domain, server, user name, et. al.).
This past fall, I purchased the ASUS notebook with Windwows 8.1 installed, and I was able to successfully load my Exchange account in Windows Mail using just my email address and password, as well as the two Outlook.com accounts, and all three accounts synchronize
properly. When I went back to my desktop, however, I noticed that the Liberty email account was listed under my Mail app. Apparently, since my laptop and desktop configurations are registered under the same Microsoft account, when they synchronized, the Liberty
email account which I successfully loaded on my notebook appeared on my desktop system as well.
The Mail app on the desktop, however, still can’t synchronize with my Exchange account so, in effect, I’m back to where I was in July. I would also add that I'm running Microsoft Outlook 2013 on my desktop and laptop and, in both cases, all three of my email
accounts are installed and working properly.
I don’t know if this information gives you insight into what the problem might be, but it’s apparent that there’s something in the configuration of my desktop Windows Mail app that is causing the problem. It’s working just fine on my notebook.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Mail app multiple times, run the App Troubleshooter, and tried a Clean Boot installation of the Exchange account. None of these fixed the problem.
As I told the other Microsoft engineer, if this were an Exchange problem, I wouldn't be able to connect to my Exchange account in Outlook 2013 on my desktop and my laptop, nor would I be able to connect to my Exchange account using Windows 8.1 Mail
    on my laptop.
The problem is specifically with the Windows 8.1 Mail app on my desktop PC, and its sudden inability to sync with my Exchange account after it worked in every iteration of Windows 8 since 2012.
I have posted this issue in this forum as suggested, but my troubleshooting does not point to an Exchange problem, but rather a Windows 8.1 Mail app problem on my desktop PC.
    Can you help?

    Hello ronontheright,
Do you mean that only the Exchange account in the desktop Mail app can’t sync?
Please take a look at the following article.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/11/26/supporting-windows-8-mail-in-your-organization.aspx
Exchange ActiveSync can be used to sync data for email, contacts, and calendar. The Windows 8 Mail app supports Exchange ActiveSync.
Please open the Windows Store app Calendar and People to check if they can normally sync.
Please try to remove the account in Mail app and sign in again and check if the issue still exists.

  • How to send e-mails with attachments using microsoft exchange servers?

I was wondering if there was a way to send e-mails with attached data files.  The e-mail server utilizes a Microsoft Exchange Server.  I would appreciate any help that is provided.

What version and type of development system of LabVIEW do you have. You have the SMTP Email Send File and SMTP Email Send Multiple Attachments in all except the base package.

Oracle supports the standard application protocol SMTP - it does not support a proprietary protocol like that used by Exchange that only works on the Windows operating system. It however provides you with the flexibility to code this yourself.
If you for example use Microsoft MAPI (Mail Application Programming Interface), you can integrate it with PL/SQL using the external procedure (extproc) feature of Oracle.
In a nutshell, extproc enables you to create PL/SQL wrappers for public DLL calls. I posted sample code that demonstrates this in {message:id=2271919}. The sample code is for calling a DLL interface on HP-UX, but the concept is identical on Windows.

    Hi,
I am stuck in a situation of migrating the emails and its sub mail folders from Entourage 2008 mail client runnung in mac over to Outlook 2010 installed in my windows system.
I have thousands of important mails stored in several folders in entourage 2008.
So how can I make the migration from Entourage to Outlook possible.
The solution will be really appreciated if its simple and direct, coz I have a loose hand in performing way-round step-wise technical stuff.
    Thank you

I cannot use Mail,Thunderbird or Entourage to view my virgin e-mail i can only view it from the virgin site.

Don't forget that the ORIGINAL FULL address is to be entered.   For instance, you should be including "adsl" within it - not with those quotes of course!

  • Entourage 2008 Exchange to Outlook Web Access

Okay, bear with me: I'm an end-user and not especially technically inclined.
That said, for years I've used Entourage 2008 as my email client (on a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9), and it successfully works with the web-based Outlook account that my ISP provides, through a POP connection.
Now, I'd like to sync my Entourage calendar with one in Outlook.
Importing the Entourage calendar into Outlook was easy. But when I build an Exchange account in Entourage, I seem to have fallen on my face.
It still imports mail, but can't send mail
It doesn't sync the Outlook calendar (on the web) to Entourage's
I have upgraded Entourage to the EWS version of 12.3.6.
After configuring the Web Services Edition (as best I could), I still can't send email — or sync Entourage to the online Outlook calendar.
Here's the error message: "Unexpected data was encountered" Error: -17997
I'm using the same settings I see in my Nokia N8 mobile's Exchange mailbox settings (which works perfectly with Outlook including syncing its calendar with OWA's calendar).
What puzzles me is that an Exchange account on Entourage and my MacBook won't work using the same settings as Exchange ActiveSync on my Nokia N8, which syncs flawlessly with OWA. Any and all suggestions gratefully received.

An additional point of information.  You've posted to an Exchange 2013 forum.  Is your Exchange organization running Exchange 2013?  If not, the Exchange previous versions forums are here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/exchangeserverlegacy.
You should share the Exchange version, service pack and update level you're running.
If you believe that it's an Exchange configuration problem as opposed to Entourage, then the issue would likely be in the configuration of Exchange Web Services, particularly the EWS virtual directory.

  • Entourage 2008 + Exchange + Certificates

This is regarding the compatibility with Exchange 2008, Entourage 2004/2008, and mainly the proper way to get a security certificate installed. I have done some research and found that you know that your cert is installed correctly if when you visit the HTTPS:// address you no longer get a UNAUTHORIZED warning. So that means I have installed the cert properly but I am still getting this error.
Entourage is unable to access the mail account you are using with the mail server configured for this account (It is telling me to check my account settings, but I know they are all correct, the only thing that changed was the DNS name of my exchange server)
I have also read around that Entourage 2004 is no longer supported, but 2008 is. Also that they are recommending the use of Apples Mail application appose to Entourage, because Apple has taken allot of time setting up back end Exchange side with the Mail application. I am hoping to not have to switch my entire production team to Mail. It would mean they lose all their local messages that they have received over the year. Any help would be awesome.

Since this question is about a Microsoft product, you might have more luck getting suggestions if you ask in Microsoft's own forums.
    Good luck.

  • Mail disappears/re-appears with exchange imap?

first off the specs and versions:
    mbp running os 10.6.7
    mail version 4.5 (1084)
i have been using mail.app for my email for over a year now, and have had this issue all along.  i have my fetch timer set to one minute, and what happens is that i will receive an email, and then a minute later it disappears for a moment, then immediately re-appears.  this happens with all of my email messages regardless of where or who sent them.
i connect to an exchange 2003 server, so my account is setup as an exchange imap.  i have tried deleting and rebuilding the account to no avail.  i have also tried to rebuild my inbox, and that didn't work either.
this issue does not happen with entourage 2008 (version 12.2.9 (110113)), but i don't want to use that for my mail....  just personal preference...
any ideas what else to check or things to do?  i've lived with this for over a year, but i'd like to get it resolved....
    thanks in advance!!

Sounds like you could try deleting the current keychain entry, then quit Mail.app. Open Mail.app again, when it asks for the password go ahead and type it in then just click Always Trust, etc. to see if it can hold onto that certificate this second time around. You also might have more than one entry in the Keychain list, so hunt around there a little to make sure you get everything deleted related to your Zimbra/Exchange IMAP accont.

  • Mail no longer functions with Exchange server update

Yesterday, the IS dept. where I work applied some updates to the MS Exchange mail server and now Mail will no longer retrieve my email from the server. I can send email, but not receive. The mail shows up in my queue, but never reaches Mail's inbox. Has anyone encountered a similar problem and if so, do you know why this might be happening? What did you do to fix it?
Currently, their solution is to switch us to Entourage but, in my experience, that app is too buggy to act as a real solution to any problem. And unfortunately, our support people are very Windows-oriented and usually won't bother with Mac issues unless prodded or given a good hint as to where to look. Any pointers I could pass along would be helpful.

    Here's my 2¢:
We (the Mac folks) ran into the same thing when CORP upgraded to Exchange 2003. IT decided they did not want to support alternative e-mail clients (Linux/Mac, or other), so they shut down port 143. In doing so, they forced us to use Entourage, or the web client.
I know that Mail has an 'exchange' server when setting up account, but it uses port 143.
Well, that my story...and I still really dislike Entourage.

  • Mac Mail refuses to work with exchange

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. My job uses Outlook Web Access for e mail, but it goes to my iPhone and iPad just fine. I tried setting up the same exchange settings on Mail 4.3. It completely destroyed my program. I had imap gmail set up in Mac Mail and both accounts refused to send or receive any e mail at all. I deleted both and emptied my cache (essentially resetting mail to factory) and set up just the exchange account. It connects to pop and smtp, but refuses to send or receive anything. I don't even get the rotating circle that it's even trying. I've had to dump the program and use Entourage, which I hate.
I really want to use Mac Mail is there anything else I can do? My IT department is pretty unknowledgable when it comes to Macs.

Anyone? I'm now using Outlook and it's worse.
