Mail 3.6 hanging w/o crash report

Hi everyone,
I've been reading the past posts on this topic, but my problem is a little different.
My Mail 3.6 doesn't hang and crash right after startup, but hangs when I try to quit it or when its doing something or other (Sometimes I don't even know that its hung until I try to quit it). When I try to quit the programme it simply just stays frozen there. If I switch to another programme screen and come back to it, it doesn't show me anything, but the bar on the top has switched to the mail application.
It doesn't allow me the option of force quitting as well, even when I right-click on the dock icon. The only way I've been able to force quit it is by selecting from the apple menu from the top bar > force quit > choose mail application.
I can't post a crash report because there isn't one. There is no pop-up to tell me that mail has even crashed or anything. But should there be one that I don't know of, where can I find it?
Mail is also crapping up my sending of mails from both my gmail accounts, sending multiple replies and not sending mails properly.
I haven't installed any plugins or growl or whatever, in fact, I don't even know what they are as I'm not very good at IT stuff. I've simply set up the mail accounts according to the instructions, using IMTP for gmail.
Might anybody have any idea or solution?

That sound very similar to my issue with Mail 3.6 - sometimes hangs when I try to quit the app.
It seems to me not like a full freeze, some menu items are still active - it seems that the app is waiting for some background process or so that prevent Mail to close properly.
I tried also to rebuild the Mail accounts and cross fingers that this will solve my problem.
