Mail 4.5 can't access POP3 acct, but iPhone & iPad can
Apple Mail 4.5 stopped retrieving / sending for my POP3 (Yahoo business mail) account. However, my iPhone and iPad continued to work. Apple Mail will try and try to send/retrieve and then does one of the following:
Displays the little warning icon next to the account name in the Inbox. Double-clicking the icon displays "The server returned the error: The attempt to send data to the server “pop.bizmail.yahoo.com” failed."
Displays Enter Password for Account "Account Name".
I did not change my Apple Mail account preferences nor did I change my Yahoo mail credentials. The problem just started out of nowhere. I also have two other email accounts in Apple Mail (both Gmail) and have not experienced any issues.
I've tried the following without any luck:
In Apple Mail, verified settings matched the iPhone and iPad, including incoming/outgoing servers, password, authentication, SSL
Logged into Yahoo mail account using a browser and changed the password. Updated MBP, iPhone and iPad. iPhone and iPad work, MBP does not.
In Apple Mail, rebuilt the account (didn't appear to do anything)
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Before I get started, doesn't a Yahoo business account offer IMAP access? If you are checking your account on multiple devices you might like IMAP. Perhaps you've explored that option and prefer POP. Just a thought.
Go to Mail > Quit Mail
Go into the program "Keychain Access".
Search for your email account by your email address within Keychain Access
Delete all references to your yahoo email account and the yahoo email servers both POP and SMTP.
Go the the Keychain Access Menu and Keychain First Aid > Repair
Quit Keychain Access
Launch Mail and check the POP account -- it should prompt for your password -- enter it and choose remember
If the issue persists at this point create a new user on your computer and see if this POP account can be checked there.

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network. -
I can't access my emails, but my wife can.

We've had a MacBook Pro for 2 years (primarily my wife's, but I share it). My wife and I both have an inbox account. For the last 2 days, I've not been able to receive any NEW emails. I get them on my iphone, but not on her laptop. She, on the other hand, is receiving as normal.
We can both send new emails.
Why would this be? I'm not an expert on computers, but I should add that ordinarily we live in Monaco but are currently an hour down the road in France. My pop is the monaco server, and I thought that maybe this was the issue, but over the past 2 years we've been down at this French house umpteen times and it's never been an issue for me and it's still not an issue for my wife, so I have to believe that it's not anything to do with that.

RobNow I feel stupid!!! But I shall post this as a help to anyone else who has a problem....
I just noticed that there was a squiggly line next to my account (and also one on next to my draft or sent email - I can't remember which one) and I pressed on ths squiggly line and it popped up with a note saying that I was offline (or words to that effect).
I've resolved my problem but I hope that this may help someone else who reads this forum who has had a similar problem.

I keep getting an error pop-up when I try to access my email. The pop-up says Cannot Get Mail The connection to the server failed. I get this pop-up on both my iPhone 5 and my iPad. I can still access my email, but the pop-up is real annoying. Can someone please help me with this? -Stu

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices? Take a look at the article below, it provides suggestions that will resolve most issues that cause an alert like that to appear in when starting the Mail app.

I can't see why Tokyo should be a problem - rather the reverse given the Japanese commitment to technology. Can you get at http://icloud.com ? (Remember that you can't access that on an iOS device). Or you should be able to access it in your Mail app or application - what sort of problems are you having?

I have just installed Snow Leopard, (10.6.3) onto my Macbook Pro and so far it seems to be working fine except that I can't access my gmail account. I can sign in but the blue opening indicator freezes near the end and I can get no further. I'm a bit of a novice at this stuff - help please!
I would run the combo update to get to 10.6.8 in order to get the latest security updates and so forth. Then run Software Update until you system is current.

Can't access MobileMe account on iPhone
Hi there,
I can't find an answer to this question anywhere here or through a Google search. Does anyone know how to access one's MobileMe account on the iPhone? I've tried everything and all I get is a dialogue box telling me to set up a MobileMe account. I already have one. I can access it via Safari on my new MBP but not on the phone. I've nuked and paved the iPhone, re-installed the software, updated to the latest version and still can't access MobileMe. The iPhone's Mail app works fine, as does Safari, but MobileMe continues to be a Byzantine mystery and Apple's documentation is feeble and hopelessly inadequate. I wouldn't care so much if I wasn't paying big bucks for this service.
I will soon be at sea with no Internet access for the next month, so maybe somebody will have figured something out by then.

MichaelThanks to those who responded to my questions so promptly. Admittedly, some confusion surrounds the syncing issues. For some reason, I thought I could access my Keychain on my iPhone since it is synced with MobileMe in my MobileMe preferences pane on my MBP. Clearly this isn't the case. I have a lot of information stored in Keychain Access in secure notes and I needed to look at one of them via the iPhone while I was on the road. My bookmarks sync. This is where I was led astray. I clicked on my MobileMe bookmark from Safari on the iPhone and that leads me to a page "Looking for me.com?"

On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture. How can I access the Aperture Library on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup? I can only access the application but not the library..
Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it. -
I am trying to connect my Ipad 2 to my Mac Air over bluetooth.
I can connect them to each other, and both machines say they are connected over bluetooth.
However I can not access the internet on the Ipad...says it is not connected to the internet.
Does anyone know if you can fix this?

Start router after 15 minutes and wait another 10 minutes before starting the computer.
Et voila.... everything is back in working order,

I've tried everything but can't access iTunes store from my ipad. Apple ID is fine and logged in to iTunes on pc. Still no luck. Anyone any other alternatives? Thx.
You may think you are connected to the internet, but maybe not. Click on Safari and see if it connects.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

Thank you. There is a bigger issue. It is not the web page that is the problem. It is that I can see my mouse moving and can move it along the bottom toolbar and the options will highlight but I can't click on anything. I can see the apple icon to get to force quit but cant click on it.
I used your suggestion and force quit came up but I can't select the option to force quit... not even with my arrows and enter/return key. Any other thoughts?
