Mail 4.5 Yahoo new setup -starts to download messages but stops at 148 out of 2800 and stops - please advise
Set up for Yahoo plus - when it starts downloading messages it stops at 148 and does not continue. Tried deleting account and starting again. It just runs to 148 (oldest ones) and stops. What settings can I adjust to get ALL my emails to download. They are not large files either. Tried adding a max size value of 5 M and still did not change situation.
You probaly would have better luck getting assistance from the Yahoo support site, if they have one. Good luck!

How can I "archive" mails in Mail App to another internal drive/partition to save space but still have it searchable in spotlight (and preferably visible, searchable, draggable in Mail App)?
Background:
I am using Mountain Lion and Mail App and running out of space on my small primary SSD drive (where I keep OS, apps, key user preferences/data and mail for speed). The mail data is the big variable (many GBs) and I want to "archive"/move some of the old mail to my 2nd drive inside the Mac. But I still want it searchable inside spotlight and preferably even inside Mail too. And I'd like to be able to still drag and drop old mails into this archive folder.
What I've tried that seems to work:
This seemed to work:
1. Move the archive folder/mailbox to the 2nd drive/partition/folder (don't delete anything inside Mail App)
2. Create a symbolic link from its new location to the original/old location
This seems to work, it looks as "normal" and as if nothing happened inside Mail App but the folder now resides elsewhere and seems searchable etc. But I'm not sure that once caches refresh or over time with updates etc if stuff will break horribly or corrupt.

DanielI'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal. -
The internet pages don't display properly I'm using osx10.3.3, yahoo for example asks me to update, but I cant find out how, as the apple store just keeps sending back to the same page with no down load option...do i need to up date or is it just my mac
What Mac model do you have? You might be able to upgrade the OS to Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5.
Even browsers for Tiger 10.4 will get the update message.
You could try a newer browser than Safari, which is obsolete, by downloading Firefox v2.0.0.20 at http://www.oldapps.com/mac/firefox.php

How to open an existing Pages document?
Click Pages icon in the Dock to launch Pages.
When Pages is open, click File menu in the Pages menu bar.
Select “Open”.
When the select document dialog box opens up, highlight/select the document and click “Open”

Trying to re-install iTunes and the message "Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." But I don't know what to do? Please can someone help, I'm not the most technologically advanced person.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

You shouldn't. Open the App Store, login with the Apple ID and password used to purchase Lion and press your Options/Alt key. Then click on Purchases at the top of the windows. Your purchases should show up and Lion should have maybe a Resume or Install button to click on.

Frustrating that either my mac can communicate with iCloud alone or my iphone , But the information on my calendar is not merging! My password on my yahoo account is according to icloud wrong , but it isn't ! Only pages and other apps could be passed to the i phone . Allready been there many times, downloaded many things!!
She was as frustrated as I and was going to kick the problem "upstairs." She felt that by now iCloud had been out long enough for them to have resolved the issues without having to resort to fixes from the outside (so in essence, I would have to say that she agrees with you that they should be able to provide a resolution for their own software).
I have more than just that issue on my MBP (iPhoto keeps asking me to "upgrade" everytime I open it, old Safari windows open when I restart or turn the machine on from a shutdown....I think it's possessed. I'm able to do everything that I want to do, but it's very annoying....) and so I'll be working with her again when she returns to work on Monday. I do have to say that she doesn't rush and has spent at a minimum 2 hours each night for the last 2 nights with me over the phone (talk about califlower ear!)

There is a bright flashing light over my tool bar and sometimes a flashing black box appears over the Yahoo news. I tried Reset Firefox and that didn't work. I then uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and I still have the seizure inducing flashing lights.
When I switch to Internet Explorer I do NOT have this problem. Please help me because I do not want to go back to IE.
ThanksIn case this is caused by Firefox 33 being incompatible with your graphics card/chipset driver software, could you test for a while in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).

You can disable hardware acceleration for all modes in the Options dialog.
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This takes effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again. -
Some of the attachments were only a couple of typed pages. I saved them as pdf format so receiver could read. The pdf file would not attach. Program gave message file to large for attachment to e-mail. Perhaps I am not doing correct procedure to attaching a file to an e-mail. I tried typing the document and saving it in pdf format to the desktop. Opened the e-mail on Safarii - typed a quick message and then tried to drop /drag attachment from desktop to e-mail. Up pops the stupid message. Would someone give me the step by step procedure for adding attachments to an e-mail being sent via Safari. Also is there a way to send large files as an attachment. I was able to do this when I was using mountain lion. Help please.

I received update notification and started to download it on my iphone 5 but it says it takes 3 hours
Well, right now, Apple is getting loads of people who are trying to download the new update. My iPod is doing the same thing, so, just wait an hour or two and then try again. It may take a while to veryify the update, and even longer to actually download it. Some people at my school updated their OS in study hall, while others were having the same problem you were. It should be fixed soon, just relax...

On a new setup I get error message "'could not activate this table (3001)''
Hi,
I am busy setting up my new playbook and get an error message on the software update screen: "'could not activate this table (3001)'' please try changing your settings.
What settings am I meant to change?
There is a button for settings and when I press this, the playbook takes me back to the connect to WI-FI screen. The WI-FI screen shows that I am currently connected. When I click on hotspot setup, the screen comes back and says I am already connected to the internet.
Can anybody please assist me to complete my setup so that I can start using the playbook?

New ipod, started up with Mac but want to download from music from windows?
Ok, so I got my new 5th gen ipod and started it up with my Mac. However all my music is on my old laptop..windows. Is it possible without restoring the ipod to download my music from windows? By the way I am hopeless and my Mac is 2nd hand so I am not sure if it is MacOS9.2.x. Not that that makes a difference, just so you know. Or will I have to put all my music onto my MAC? Please advise
Probably the easiest way to use an iPod on both Mac and Windows computers is to format the iPod (using iPod Updater) using the PC. This will force your iPod to use the Windows file system (FAT32) which both the Mac and PC can read from and write to without the help of additional software. Of course then all your software updates for the iPod will have to be done on Windows. If you need to use a Mac (HFS+) formatted iPod on a Windows PC, you'll need to install some 3rd party software such as XPlay 2.0 (which you can get from MediaFour Software). This will enable your Windows PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod.

The message comes back stating that Yahoo cannot ‘send using the server’....I have manipulated things around but to no avail. Both acct.’s receive, but will not send.
