Mail 6.3 (1503) - Search subject-only, sender-only, etc.

For work I rely on being able to search messages by just their subject, or just the sender, etc.
Prior versions of Mail (And my old favorite Thunderbird) had thes options handy right atop the client frame, with the search bar, so you could toggle as needed for quick, efficient narrowing of your search needs.
This version seems to always Only search the full messages, which is pretty useless for my work needs.
What happened to the critical feature of subject-only searching, and to / from value searching???

If you enter a search term ("meeting", for instance) and just press return (not clicking on any of the suggestions), it will show the term with in a light blue portion of a bubble, with a darker blue portion to the left. Clicking on the darker blue section reveals a dropdown menu allowing the term to search the following: Entire Message/Any, From, To, Subject, Mailbox, Attachment.

It may pay to send a Screen Shot of the Connection Doctor info. (see the Window Menu)
It would seem the IMAP or POP side is logged in bit the out going STMP server is not.

Safari is apparently frozen. I can no longer receive or send e-mail on Safari, nor search using Bing. When URL's are typed in and entered, there is no response. Obviously, I can still use Firefox for these needs, but how do I get Safari back to work?

I have the same issue - it worked once, then the error pop-ups keep coming asking for the same darn password I gave it and saved 100 times before. Anyone else find a solution? I use my earthlink for outgoing and that works but would rather use godaddy since I pay for it.

When opening Mail, sending mail won't stop searching?

When I open mail App. On my MBP, running Lion mail loads all my accounts fine, but sending mail doesn't stop searching for sbcglobal.net account. Therefor can't send any mail from any accounts.

Maintenance you do before you need it! I do it at least once a month, sometimes more often. The free application Onyx is a great application for this.
It could also be that you don't have enough working RAM. Pages can have problem with memory use when the documents are large in Mb.

Server Name: WDC2010
Domain: Blazex.Com
2. Hub/Client Access Server: It is installed on Windows Server 2008. As per Microsoft recommendation, I have just installed Windows Server 2008 and then join this computer to Blazex.com.
After that installed the Hub/Client Access Exchange role servers.
Server Name: HC2010.blazex.com (This is not a Addition Member server or ADC)
Role: Hub and Client Access Server.

I don't know what I am missing but I think there is some configuration I need to do on Hub/Client Access Server (HC2010). I tried to access the mailbox on XP Client system through OWA. I get the same problem as Win7.
Can someone please help me on this?

I have done the troubleshooting but I didn't find any problem at server side. I will send you mail also with all EXBPA report and as well DC, HC and Mailbox servers' Application Log and System Log.

3.     Please check application log, whether any error event logged there. They could come from ADAccess related error or etc.
I didn't see any ADAccess event on the server. For this I have left my lab PC open and I will check again.
4.     We find that if mail .que gets corrupt, then this issue will occur, please try to move the affected user to another store and then test the issue.
I am facing this problem with all users (7 users). Anyway I moved one user from one server Mailbox Database (2mbx2010) to Other Server Mailbox Database (mbx2010). After that
a) Rebooted the Workstation
b) Login successfully with same user.
c) Delete the Old MS Outlook Profile
d) Create New profile for same user without any problem.

f) Open the OWA successfully for Same user.
g) Tried to send mail but again mail went to Drafts Folder.

6. You also check your disk space.
     All Servers have Enough Disk Space. Check the EXBPA Report.
7. You may run EXTRA to get log information for further troubleshooting.
Need more time for this.
8. Please save application log, system log as *.evt file, then send them with EXTRA,EXBPA report to [email protected] .

There will be some error log you will be that the system is not able to communicate with DC/DC, MBX or HC at everyday around 3 AM or some time 6 PM Evening also. These error came because I have installed VM on Windows 7 Workstation and after 45 min or one hrs. if I don't work on PC, then pc goes to sleep. so you may ignore these alerts.

Mac Mail AUTOCOMPLETE vs. SEARCH?

i am having fits with mac mail.
does anyone know if the SEARCH box uses the same information as the AUTOCOMPLETE?
i just tried to enter a person "giorgio" into an autocomplete to send them a mail and no autocomplete comes up. so then i go to the search box to enter this name and while no actual MAIL comes up (there should be i think at least in the On My Mac section) there IS an autocomplete for "From: Giogio Last Name").
is there some reason the search box finds a from and an autocomplete does not find the same name? also, does anyone know where the search box gets its information? right now when the search autocompletes it just autocompletes with the "From: Giorgio Last Name" and in order to try and grab the email i have to sort of hover midway so that search does not autocomplete and READ the email address it is showing before i make the selection and then manually type this into the To box in my email.
this is sort of inconvenient but also sort of confusing.

thank you. this is very helpful. for some reason both of these seem to be acting regularly weird and i was not able to figure this out.
for some reason Mail Search does not seem to return /any/ mail results for this search even though the /name/ shows up in the "From" dialog here. do you have any reason why this would be the case or how i might investigate further? i mean, presumably if a result is showing up here then there is in fact an email in Mac Mail that came "From" this sender and this mail would currently exist in either an IMAP account or in the ON MY MAC section is that right?
i am having a hard time figuring out how to research this since if the name shows up in the mail search but i don't see it in the search results - - hmmm - i guess i should manually search in the On My Mac section and in the IMAP inbox by sorting by from sender and alphabetically looking up this sender i guess? then i can provide more info on this?
also, same for the To autocomplete. i am almost positive that i have sent mail to this sender from my Mac Pro but i can check this easily by looking in the Window > Previous Recipients and manually looking up the name here, yes?
the search in particular has not been working well and i recently took online advice to follow a tech article about deleting some Mail folder file and rebuilding the index but this does not seem to be working AFAIK. seems odd to get a mail search result NAME but no actual MAIL showing up...

Mail is now slow in deciding to send e mail...

Using 10.10.3, the latest version last week, I am seeing a distinct slowness when sending e mails. It used to be, press send and it flew away, now I press send and sit back and wait for it to wind itself up to send something. Once over this initial stalling sequence, the mail goes as per usual. Is this a feature of the latest version or is there something else that I should adjust to allow it send quickly?

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried them, including the additional ones at the end of the referenced article, to no avail. The problem still exists, i.e., locking up completely when trying to type in an e-mail address.
The following is the error message generated:

1. the e-mail is through JustHost.com, with the account setup confirmed in the configuration windows.

Subject and sender is copied from prevous email on some emails

On some emails the Subject and Sender name is from another email received at the same time. This is totally random, does not happen all the time. I have included screenshots from two emails of the most recent recevied email with this error.
We have 4 computers and we all have the same IMAP account on every computer but this happens randomly on the computers. One may receive the cloned subject and sender while the others will not. This has happened randomly on all 4 computers. When checking on the web-mail they all appeare correctly.

Sounds like this might be an indexing issue.
right click on folder and select 'Properties'.
click on 'REpair folder'
Click on OK
Refresh the Folder Pane by selecting another folder and then reselecting the repaired folder

It isn't really sending it, it will only be seen if you're in their Address Book... & you are in yours.
Obnoxious that you can't just turn it off, but you can replace your pic in Address book with a tiny all white .gif.by finding you in AB, highlight it, click edit, highlight the pic &n Paste a white gif there.
